okay in all honesty Sevika's character is so interesting and one of the things I loved the most about season 2 is watching her.
We see her character as soon as act 1 in season 1 and we also know that she used to be loyal to Vander, but because she is a character who rightfully wants to fight she sees Vander as someone who she can't continue to be loyal to
"Vander had his chance"
she hands the people she follows/gives her loyalty to chances. We see it time and time again with Silco. We see her loyalty waver but we also see it strengthen. She is extremely smart and cunning. She knew immediately what kind of powerplay Finn wanted to start and played along with it, so he wouldn't catch on (letting him light her cigar, dusting of his place before he sits down during that scene with Silco where Finn then gets killed)
But she also made a display infront of Silco to show him her patience is running thin. One of the reasons she went along with Finn is to show Silco that, while Finn isn't the one, there is always others. This also shows how damn respected she actually is, like lets imagine basically any other character having such a severe power play with Silco, she knew that he knew that there was a possibility she could kill him.
Her patience for Silco is also mostly running thin because of Jinx. Not because she genuinely just hates Jinx but more so because Jinx is in fact a disaster (sorry sorry) and DOES get in between her missions. And well Silco basically shrugs and goes your fault have fun cleaning that mess up. If we go and only take season 1 it's actually easy to think that Sevika really dislikes Jinx but with context from season 2 I just don't think that was the case and it was moreso frustration.
and now Silco is dead and she has placed her hope in him and his nation of Zaun. That talk with Jinx in season 2 is genuinely one of the best, if not the best, scenes out of that season. Her and Jinx begrudgingly get closer. She is still loyal to Zaun and well they don't give up their people and Jinx is one of them.
As early as act one she is shown to literally be ready to jump to death if necessary to be of use and like??? they utilized her character perfectly in season 2 before they decided to write her out of act 2 for what ever reason (still salty about that)
Their little found family coming because Sevika is admirably loyal and extremely smart but also just unwilling to relent to anyone and still always the fighter is the best the writers could have done.
edit: lol dumb thing to forget, genuinely I'm tired but the continuity of her gambling addiction and it also being a thing Jinx and her bond over in season 2 because Jinx gifted her a gambling arm was genuinely peak writing. Also there is something to be said how she also gambles with the lives of others (Silco in that scene, cause he HAD no idea if he would survive "where you tempted" "not for a worm like him but there will be others" like OKAY DAMN) and how she ALSO uses her own experiences to guide others, sometimes subtle, sometimes not so much.
just in general, I appreciate her character so much and I hope they don't disappoint in act 3
#there is so much more that can be said about her character#genuinely she has become one of my top characters#welp#arcane#arcane season 2#arcane season 1#Jinx#Silco#Sevika#Vander#loyalty#arcane spoilers#i wish i wasn't so tired so i could write more#character appreciation

Y’know, I’m actually warming to the idea that Viktor (Arcane) could canonically be a trans man. I mean, I’m always in favor in fic, don’t get me wrong, but there’s a difference between canon and popular fanon and while I understood and supported the idea as fanon, I didn’t necessarily think that’s what the show intended.
But now we’ve got Lest as a canonical trans woman character in Arcane S2 and I’ve been going back and doing a full rewatch of the show in anticipation of Act 3 dropping, and I was just noting how a few things:
1) His back brace is exactly in the right place to both suggest and obscure top surgery scars (as if the Undercity wouldn’t have a surgeon who could do it mean honestly, they’ve clearly got very advanced body mods down there, this would be tame by comparison). Now in S2 his body has been completely remade so any old scars are totally gone and the back brace has become a part of him, but he’s also literally been transformed. Like if anything, it makes it a continuation of his story.
2) His build and lack of any stubble somewhat lend to the possibility. It’s more noticeable because Jayce always has a trace of stubble visible so there’s a distinct contrast there. (Not that other male characters all have stubble, a lot of them don’t, but it is noteworthy when we see Viktor and Jayce contrasted so often in the same frame). And while they haven’t gone full frontal really on anyone in the show, we did see Viktor mostly naked and there was nothing to contradict the theory in what we saw.
3) I mean, the Machine Herald’s whole schtick is around transcending humanity, transcending evolution, not just going along with what nature gave you. That feels… very conducive to a trans man read of Viktor that such a background would further lend to his rejection of the notion that our biology is our destiny, in addition to his illness and disability.
Anyway, I don’t mean to offend anyone, I just found it interesting that this fanon at least for me went from “Huh, plausible but probably not intended,” to “Oh hey, it’s plausible and could very well BE intended and actually it aligns with things the character says on screen now!” as of S2.

I'm going to start off by highly, highly recommending What is Body Horror? by Shannon Lewis if you want to know what body horror entails, because the above definition is far too simplistic. It also fails to take into account why we love body horror so much, and fails to acknowledge how it's being utilized so cleverly in Mouthwashing.
Body horror holds a mirror up to the person, saying “this is you”; the person’s reaction is to reply, “it can’t be.”
Body horror is complex, but at its core are two crucial ideas: 1) loss (loss of autonomy, loss of self, loss of control, etc.), and 2) confronting your own mortality and vulnerability of the flesh. These two things are precisely why the devs chose to use Curly's circumstances as a storytelling device; his disability functions to parallel the loss of autonomy and vulnerability felt by Anya, not as a punishment but as a consequence of his own inaction. The horror is on Curly's end, as he's forced to look in the mirror only to not recognize himself, to realize that he's not the person he thought he was - not because he's disfigured, but because his disfigurement is a physical manifestation of his complacency in a system that functions to strip others (i.e. women) of their own autonomy and safety. Only when he's finally able to acknowledge this does he lose the ability he once had to do something about it, and all he can do is watch his inaction unfold before him, and to him, powerless now to stop it.
"Even the most natural process can feel like a perversion to the person to whom it is occurring."
Attributing ableism to this interpretation of Curly's character shows a lack of understanding for what body horror really represents. Body horror isn't horror because the body in question is disfigured or itself scary. It's horror because it forces you to confront your own vulnerability, because it's in our a nature, a primal instinct, to fear the "unnatural transformation, destruction, or degeneration of the human body or other creatures." It's in our nature to avoid it, to want to prevent it, and fear is a universal, primal emotion that's helped get humanity far enough to contemplate it. One could (and many, including myself, do) argue that having a body at all is inherently grotesque and horrific; our bodies smell, leak, decay, we're crawling with bacteria, we're susceptible to infection and disease, our insides spill out, shed, excrete. Most of all, we feel pain. Pain is a concept crucial to understanding Curly as body horror; the sounds he makes when you're feeding him his pill, the wailing you hear when he needs it, the blood-soaked bandages trying and failing to conceal the raw, exposed flesh underneath. The unbandaged eye following your every move, his only form of communication outside of agonized moans. It's horrific because he can't do anything but endure it, because there's no escaping it, not even in death. Jimmy took that from him, too. (The horror is on Jimmy's end just as well, while we're at it. He has to stare his sins right in the face and reconcile with them, but he fears it. Fears him. Again, not because he's disfigured, but because his disfigurement represents something much larger, much more horrific - the consequences of his own actions and the need to "take responsibility" for them.)
As the article touches on, though, there is a way to paint certain bodies that can be read as ableist (ex. "stories that position becoming disabled as a “fate worse than death”, antagonists with marked visible disabilities when compared with the “heroes.”"). This is an important distinction to make, but interpreting Curly's circumstances as body horror does not align with this (unless they're expressly saying he's horrific himself for being disabled, which I don't think anyone is arguing). Mouthwashing is a horror game after all. The use of Curly's disfigured body to instill fear in the player is deliberate, a perfect representation of what body horror represents. Whether or not you agree with its use is another conversation entirely, but make no mistake - Curly's disfigurement is horrific, in more ways than one.
body horror is defined as a horror subgenre depicting "the unnatural transformation, destruction, or degeneration of the human body or other creatures".
mouthwashing things that are body horror (or adjacent):
giant womb full'a horse fetuses
hallway full of giant curly eyeballs
climbing out of a giant disembodied curly head
polle centipede
jimmy dismembering and eating parts of curly (cannibalism; the dehumanisation and consumption of human meat)
mouthwashing things that are not body horror:
curly being a burn victim & amputee

ʚɞ pairing : wooyoung x reader ʚɞ au : idol! | 9th member ʚɞ word count: 3.280 words ʚɞ summary : yn and wooyoung do an interview on The Hot Ones! ʚɞ what if! wooyoung and yn dated
" Hey what's going everybody, for first we feast i'm Sean Evans and you're watching hot ones," Sean said, as the camera pans to show yn and Wooyoung seat next to each other.
" it's the show with hot questions and even hotter wings. Today we are joined by yn ln and Jung Wooyoung. They're apart of the sensational group called ATEEZ." Sean announced with enthusiasm, as the camera zoomed in on Yn and Wooyoung, who both waved with bright smiles.
Wooyoung chuckled, shooting a confident grin at the camera. “I’ve been preparing for this my whole life,” he joked, earning a laugh from Yn and Sean.
Sean continued, “Yn, Wooyoung, welcome to Hot Ones. You’re both known for tackling some intense stages and delivering jaw-dropping performances. But today, the real test is whether you can handle these hot wings and even hotter questions.”
Yn glanced at the lineup of sauces nervously, then turned to Wooyoung with a playful smirk. “Think we can handle it?”
Wooyoung leaned back with a smirk. “Oh, I can handle it. But Yn… let’s see if you’re ready to keep up.”
Sean laughed, leaning forward as he lifted the first wing. “Alright, let’s see if the heat lives up to ATEEZ standards. First wing up!”
scoville level 1,700: first question - how did you guys come up with your aniteez characters?
Yn took a bite of the first wing, savoring the mild heat as she thought about the question. She smiled, looking at Wooyoung before turning to Sean.
Wooyoung rolled his eyes, trying to hold back a laugh. "I swear, I’m not a cat. I just happen to have… cat-like tendencies, okay?” He looked at the camera, raising his eyebrows. “You can thank Yn for that rumor!”
Yn grinned and shrugged. “Hey, I’m just saying, our fans notice these things. Plus, if anyone were going to have an alter ego as a cat-like character, it’d be you!”
Sean leaned in, clearly entertained by their dynamic. “So, Wooyoung, does this mean your A-NITEEZ character embodies all those cat-like traits?”
Wooyoung smirked, leaning back confidently. “Oh, absolutely. My character’s got this mysterious, sleek vibe—totally cool, just like a cat. But I also added a little bit of mischief in there because, you know, why not?”
Yn laughed, nodding. “See? I rest my case.”
Sean shook his head, laughing along. “Alright, so we’ve confirmed that Wooyoung is practically the group’s resident cat in A-NITEEZ and maybe in real life. Let’s see if we can uncover any more secrets as the wings get hotter!”
scoville level 6,200: second question - favorite song on golden hour pt.1?
Yn took a deep breath before biting into the second wing, her eyes widening a bit at the subtle increase in heat. “Ooh, okay, definitely feeling it now,” she laughed, reaching for her water.
After a moment, she looked at Sean. “My favorite song on Golden Hour Pt. 1 has to be 'Empty Box.’ It just has this… deep, atmospheric vibe that hits differently. Plus, it was so fun to record; we really experimented with vocal layers and harmonies.”
Wooyoung nodded, his own mouth slightly burning but still grinning through it. “For me, it’s gotta be ‘ Bind ’ I love how upbeat it is—it’s like this perfect mix of hype."
Sean raised his eyebrows, clearly impressed with their choices. "Great picks. 'Empty Box' has that haunting, layered feeling to it, and 'Bind'—I can see why Wooyoung would pick that one. It's got so much energy. Now, as the heat starts to kick in, let’s see if you two are still as cool as ever!"
Yn gave a playful smile, trying to keep her composure as the spice started to settle in. "Definitely feelin’ the heat," she admitted, wiping her brow.
Wooyoung, still grinning despite the rising heat, leaned in. "Honestly, though, 'Bind' is one of those songs that makes you wanna just lose yourself in it, you know? Like you’re in a different world. It's an easy song to get lost in."
Sean laughed, glancing at the wings. "I think this next one might test your limits even more. Ready for the next round?"
Yn and Wooyoung exchanged looks before nodding in determination, both of them bracing themselves for what was next.
scoville level 18,00: third question - what has been your favorite place to travel?
Yn took a cautious bite of the third wing, her eyes widening as the heat immediately kicked up. “Whoa, okay, this is the real deal now,” she said, laughing through the heat. “But... favorite place to travel?”
Yn took another sip of water, trying to cool off, but the heat was definitely taking its toll. "I’d have to say Mexico," she continued, her voice slightly strained from the spice. "The culture, the food, the beaches... it’s all so vibrant. I loved getting to experience everything from the food markets to the ancient ruins. And the people—everyone was so welcoming."
Wooyoung nodded vigorously, still feeling the burn but pushing through it. "I can definitely get behind that. Mexico is beautiful. For me, though, it’s gotta be Italy. The history, the art, the food—everything about it felt like I was walking through a dream. I’ll never forget the first time I saw the Colosseum. It was unreal."
Sean smiled, wiping his hands on his napkin. "Great picks, both of you. The heat’s clearly not slowing you down! So, what’s next?"
Yn wiped her forehead, a little sweat beginning to form as she looked at Wooyoung. "I think we’re just getting started, right?" she said, giving him a determined look.
Wooyoung grinned, but his eyes were watering a little from the spice. "Yeah, no turning back now!"
scoville level 33,00: fourth question - favorite mv filming location?
Yn’s eyes widened as she took a bite of the fourth wing, immediately feeling the intense heat. She paused for a moment, trying to keep her composure, before letting out a small gasp. “Okay, this one’s definitely hitting harder,” she said, trying to keep a grin on her face despite the spice. “Favorite MV filming location, though?”
She glanced over at Wooyoung, who was also struggling to keep it together. “For me, it’s gotta be the desert for Treasure and Pirate King. That was such a unique experience. The atmosphere was just incredible—this vast, open space that made everything feel so dramatic and cinematic. Plus, it was pretty hot, so I was already mentally prepared for this moment,” she joked, fanning her face.
Wooyoung chuckled, rubbing his mouth with a napkin. “I totally agree with you on the desert. But for me, I think my favorite has to be the beach from ‘Wave.’ It felt like we were filming in a fairy tale. The natural setting, the misty trees—it was just such a vibe. I really felt like I could lose myself in that world.”
Sean was laughing, clearly enjoying their reactions. "Those are some epic locations! The desert’s got that raw, expansive feel, and the forest is all mystical. Alright, we’re cranking up the heat, but you’re doing great. Ready to tackle the next one?"
Yn and Wooyoung exchanged a quick glance before nodding. “Let’s do it,” Yn said through a strained smile, still trying to power through the burn.
scoville level 54,00: fifth question - what is your favorite song to perfom / would like perform?
Yn and Wooyoung both hesitated for a moment, staring at the fifth wing in front of them. The heat from the previous wing was still lingering, and the next one looked like it would be a whole new level.
Yn bravely took a bite, trying to hold it together, but her eyes widened as soon as the heat hit. "Okay, this one is definitely no joke," she laughed, wiping her brow with a napkin.
After a moment, she looked at Sean, trying to focus through the heat. “Favorite song to perform… I think I’d say ‘Hala Hala.’ It’s just so intense and has so much energy. When the crowd gets into it, it’s like a wave of adrenaline that you can’t beat. The whole performance is so wild, and it really pulls everything out of you.”
Wooyoung, also struggling to keep his cool, took a bite of his wing. His face immediately flushed as the heat made its presence known, but he grinned through the pain. "For me, it’s gotta be ‘Answer.’ That song has such an emotional weight to it, especially when you’re performing it live. The connection with the fans is unreal, and it just feels so powerful. It’s the type of performance where you really pour everything into it."
Sean smiled, clearly impressed with their answers despite the heat. “Both songs are legendary for different reasons—Hala Hala is all about the hype and the energy, and Answer really pulls at the heartstrings. You guys are holding up like pros!”
Yn laughed weakly, her eyes watering. “We might be almost professionals now…”
Wooyoung wiped his forehead with a napkin, giving her a thumbs up. “Yeah, we’re definitely pros now. Just keep moving forward!”
scoville level 71,00: sixth question - how did you two become the closest ?
Yn and Wooyoung both took hesitant bites of the sixth wing, and immediately, their faces contorted with the intense heat. Yn let out a breath, fanning her face while trying to hold her composure. “Okay, this... this is a whole new level,” she said through gritted teeth, wiping her eyes.
Wooyoung, clearly struggling too, took a moment before he spoke. “We’ve officially reached the point where everything burns," he chuckled, rubbing his mouth.
Once they both took a few deep breaths, Yn answered, "How we became the closest? Well, Wooyoung and I have always had this... weird connection, I think. We clicked pretty early on. He’s the type of person who doesn’t let anyone get too far away, and I’m... well, I'm the type who’ll keep everyone together. We just naturally gravitated toward each other, supporting each other through everything.”
Wooyoung nodded, still fighting the heat but grinning. “Yeah, it was kind of like that. It was the little things—like making sure Yn wasn’t overworking herself or giving each other space when we needed it. But then, when it came down to the tough moments, we always had each other's backs, no matter what.”
Yn smiled, turning to Wooyoung. “And it wasn’t just the big things, right? It was also laughing at the smallest jokes, or sharing those quiet moments when no one else was around. We just knew how to support each other.”
Sean grinned, clearly impressed with how they were handling the heat. “It’s awesome to see that kind of bond between you two. It’s like that perfect balance of support and fun."
scoville level 126,00: seventh question - favorite movie / books
Yn and Wooyoung both took a deep breath before biting into the seventh wing, knowing this would be the final stretch. As soon as they tasted the sauce, their faces immediately reflected the shock of heat. Yn reached for her water, trying not to cough as the burn surged.
“Okay, this is the moment we’ve been waiting for…” she said, her voice a little hoarse from the spice. She wiped her forehead, trying to keep a smile on her face. "Favorite movie or book?" she repeated, clearly feeling the heat.
She thought for a moment, then said, “ i love the hunger games series, including the books. It's all i would read during our free time in our trainee days."
Wooyoung, still battling the heat, nodded in agreement with Yn’s choice. “I remember that. We’d all gather around during free time, and Yn would be deep into The Hunger Games—I swear, she knew every detail of that series by heart.” He chuckled through the pain, his face flushed.
Wooyoung chugged his water, let out a sigh of relief before he spoke. " i love the harry potter movies, definietly something yn would join me watching them."
scoville level 135,600: eighth question - any solo projects coming soon?
Yn and Wooyoung both braced themselves as they eyed the eighth wing, knowing this would be the hottest challenge yet. Wooyoung, despite the obvious struggle, took a deep breath and bit into the wing. Immediately, his eyes watered, and he reached for his water, trying not to cough.
"Okay... this one might actually be the end of me," he said, his voice slightly hoarse from the burn.
Yn, equally affected, quickly followed suit, biting into her wing. The heat hit her immediately, and she winced. "Oh my god, it’s like my mouth is on fire,” she said, fanning her face and trying to smile through it.
After a few moments of both of them trying to recover, Sean smirked, knowing he had stumped them with this one. "Any solo projects coming soon?"
Yn wiped her brow, gathering her thoughts. "Well, we’ve been working really hard on group projects right now, but… I do have some solo things I’ve been thinking about. I’ve been experimenting with some personal music and concepts that are a bit different from what we’ve done as a group, so we’ll see what happens with that."
Wooyoung, still rubbing his eyes from the heat, nodded slowly, clearly fighting through the pain. "For me, I’ve been focusing a lot on improving my skills, you know? Some personal projects are in the works—maybe more music and some other fun things to share with our fans in the future."
Yn managed a laugh, wiping her forehead. “The heat’s definitely making this harder to answer, but we’ll have some surprises coming your way for sure.”
Sean gave them both a supportive nod. “Love it! You’re keeping things under wraps, huh? Well, with the heat getting to you guys, I’ll say this—if the solo projects are anything like the effort you put into handling these wings, they’re going to be fire."
Wooyoung chuckled weakly, raising his water bottle. "You could say we’re burning with ideas."
scoville level 700,000: ninth question - any games you guys are playing at the moment?
Yn and Wooyoung both eyed the ninth wing with a mix of dread and determination. After a few moments of hesitation, they each took a bite, and the intense heat hit them like a freight train. Their faces immediately flushed, and both of them struggled to keep their composure, reaching for their water bottles.
"Okay, this is way too hot," Yn managed to laugh, wiping her forehead. "But games…"
She paused, trying to breathe through the heat. " valorant. I think yunho and i play rank a lot. I think last i played was diamond ?"
Yn nodded, her eyes watering slightly from the heat but managing to push through. "Yeah, Valorant has definitely been a go-to. Yunho and I have been playing ranked a lot together. I think the last time I played, I was in Diamond? It’s definitely a grind, but we always have a blast, even when things get intense."
Wooyoung, still recovering from the heat, laughed weakly. "Yeah, Yunho’s pretty serious about his rank, but he’s also a great teammate. You two definitely make a solid duo."
Yn chuckled, though it was clear the burn was still lingering. " wooyoung and i play as well! We play league of legends, although im not the best at it"
Wooyoung, still wiping his face from the heat, grinned and nodded. "Oh, League of Legends, yes! We play that together too, but trust me, Yn’s being humble. She’s actually way better than she lets on. I, on the other hand... I’m just trying not to feed the enemy team," he laughed, clearly still feeling the spice but in good spirits.
Yn laughed weakly, her face flushed from both the heat and the conversation. "I try, but I’m definitely not as good as Wooyoung. I just get carried along for the ride," she teased, her voice a little raspy. "But it’s fun! Playing together just makes it all more entertaining, even if we end up getting wrecked."
Sean laughed at their dynamic. "Sounds like you guys have a blast even when things don’t go according to plan. A true team effort!"
Wooyoung nodded enthusiastically. "Exactly! And honestly, the chaos in League is like the chaos from these wings. You never know what’s coming next, but you just have to roll with it."
Yn grinned, looking at Wooyoung. "Yeah, just like this hot sauce—League is always unpredictable."
scoville level 2,693,000: tenth question - are you two dating
Both Yn and Wooyoung froze for a moment, clearly taken aback by the intensity of the question, especially with the heat still burning. The tenth wing sat in front of them, glowing ominously. Wooyoung hesitated for a second, his mouth still on fire, before he slowly took a bite of the final wing, trying his best to maintain his composure.
Yn followed suit, biting into the fiery wing and immediately feeling the intense burn. The heat hit them both at once, and for a brief moment, neither of them could speak. Wooyoung wiped his eyes, trying to recover, and then finally managed to laugh weakly.
"Okay, this is really hot," he said, attempting to push through the question.
Tears flowed down both of their faces, yn hands out as one of the staff handed her another glass of milk.
Wooyoung, clearly struggling to keep it together, looked over at Yn, who was holding the milk with shaky hands. Tears streamed down their faces as they both tried to cool down from the scorching heat of the tenth wing. Wooyoung took a long swig of water, eyes wide as he tried to clear the fire from his mouth.
Yn took a sip of the milk, feeling a brief moment of relief as the coolness hit her tongue. She gave Wooyoung a sympathetic look, her eyes still teary. "This is a whole new level of spicy," she managed to say, her voice strained.
"uh, dating?" he repeated, glancing at Yn, who was still trying to manage the heat.
Yn, also struggling but determined to answer, managed a soft laugh through the burn. “ we're - holy shit " she gasped, eyes watering from the heat.
Wooyoung gulped the last of milk, " yes, we're dating, " he hoarse out
Yn took a deep breath, her face flushed from both the heat and the revelation. Her voice still a bit strained, she managed to finish her sentence, "We've been dating since 2020... right after we spent that whole summer together, just the two of us, during one of the most insane schedules we’ve ever had."
She wiped her face, still trying to cool down, and shot Wooyoung a playful look. "It wasn't exactly how we planned it, but I guess the wings weren't the only thing that got heated today."
Wooyoung, still trying to recover from the heat, gave a weak chuckle. "Yeah, I mean, it took us some time to figure things out, but… here we are. In front of everyone, telling the world."
Sean, clearly enjoying the moment, grinned widely. "Well, folks, looks like we just got a Hot Ones exclusive! Dating since 2020—what a reveal!"
Yn laughed weakly, her eyes still a bit watery. "I swear, these wings made everything 10 times harder, but yeah, here we are. And now everyone knows."
Wooyoung gave her a small grin, his voice soft. "Yeah, no more secrets. We’re in this together."
Sean, clearly impressed, leaned back in his chair. "Well, that’s a wrap for today's episode of Hot Ones. You both survived the heat, spilled the tea, and kept your sense of humor through it all. You’re legends in my book."

Hi!
I don't wanna pressure u, respond in your own time
But like, I've been studying the play Fences, which is about a Black family in the 1950s and 60s. And i was creating costume designs for the wife Rose and taking into account how it would change over the play
And I found out through research that Black hair is a form of protest and a form of self expression because it used to be heavily controlled and their freedom with hair was very restricted
I came up with having her start by wearing her hair in a low bun under a headscarf because of how Troy had power over her in the beginning, but by the end of the play her hair would be out of the bun + scarf and fall naturally around her head, showing that she gained her own power and voice over Troy
But of course I still have a lot to learn myself and I really really want to explore how to show Rose's character growth through the meaning of her hair. So is there anything you can tell me about Black hair history and how it was used as a form of protest and self-expression? Are there any specific hairstyles that mean a lot in Black protest history? If so, I would love to know!
No pressure, of course, this is merely out of genuine interest and curiosity
There is a specific section in this lesson (though I highly suggest reading all of it) that discusses the history of the afro! The natural hair that grows out of our head is a form of protest; has been for a very long time. But the afro has a specific history with protest, a symbol of my power and presence.
Even now, having natural hair, especially when it's shorter, is hard for Black women, having long grown used to long, thin hair being the acceptable (white) beauty standard. She probably wouldn't be treated well by all circles for having chosen to wear her own hair in its curls or picked out (hell, even now having locs some older Black folks act like you just don't care about yourself 🙄) but yeah, that to me would be a real deep way of taking back her autonomy.

Here’s the thing. Arcane season 2 was finished being written back in 2020. It was completed before the first season of Arcane even aired on Netflix in the first place. Before they even knew if it was going to be a hit or not. Before any of the fans had hot takes about the characters.
Which means that all of these “new subplots” (such as the black rose) weren’t just added in on a whim. They have an intentional purpose in the story they’re trying to tell.
It also means that the pacing was always going to increase and become faster as the two seasons went on.
I think a lot of fans are coming at this show from the perspective of a lot of live action shows where the writers see how fans respond to certain things so they add them into the story or focus on fan favorites to grab your attention and keep you engaged. And live action shows can do this because they’re filmed relatively close to when the series airs and so they’re aware of what the reactions are on social media (for good or ill).
But this is animation. Very TIME CONSUMING animation at that. It took 4 years to finish animating the 9 episodes of Season 2. If you include the 6 years of development and production of Season 1, that’s almost a full DECADE of working on this show.
My point is that they literally (and logistically) can’t respond to fan input and make changes in the show based on the way it was received on social media. Like it or not, these specific characters beats and storylines were always the plan from the start.
This is a long winded way of trying to say… if you have problems with the way certain characters are behaving, or certain plot points feeling rushed, or feel overwhelmed by the number of added subplots that need to get resolved before the end of the show… I strongly suggest rather than saying the writing is “bad” or that the writers “don’t know what they’re doing” or just complain about anything really… I suggest you take a step back and ask yourself “why are these the stories and actions they chose for this 2 season arc?”
I think that’s a far more productive thing to do than to go online and whine about things you didn’t like. I find it’s better to try and understand WHY they chose to do these things rather than write them off. More often than not when you look into the why, or try to come up with reasons why the writers would take certain characters down the paths they do, you end up coming out appreciating the media more. Even if you still don’t were with their narrative choices, learning and understanding the WHY is far more rewarding I think.
I’ll give you an example of something I don’t like, but that I understand why. Isha. I don’t like that Isha was introduced and then killed off in the latest episode. If I were to look at it just from a surface level reading, it seems pointless to add this cute mute kid character only to take her away a few episodes later. But NARRATIVELY she’s extraordinarily important. She is what Jinx needed to become more empathetic to her sister and reach out to fix their family. She helps push Jinx into the role of Vander for season 2. And her heroically framed sacrifice is probably going to be the push Jinx needs to stop trying to commit suicide.
Would I have liked to see more of her and Jinx’s relationship? Yes. Would I liked to have learned more about where she came from and why she’s mute? Yes. But at the end of the day, this is not a show about Isha. Isha is a narrative device to help forward the character development of Jinx. And so, while I do not like that she sacrificed herself… I understand it. And that understanding helps me appreciate the writing and the level of depth the writers are willing to go to push their characters around where they need to be by the end of the series.
At the end of the day, Arcane is just another show on Netflix. It is not beyond criticism. There are a lot of legitimate criticisms you can have against the show. But I’ve found that recently the number of bad takes and people refusing to engage with the narrative has resulted in a bit of a backlash against the show and I do not think that’s ultimately very productive. Please… if you’re going to criticize the show, please try to do better than just write off anything you don’t like as “the writers just suck” or “they changed X character for no reason!”
Because I guarantee you, there IS a reason for everything in this show. No matter how small and trivial it might be, this show was put together with love and an extraordinary attention to detail. There are reasons for why characters do and say the things they say. The writers often make these into intentional parallels, foreshadowing, and callbacks.
Please… take the time to actually stop and dissect what you see. Even something upsets you. I implore you try to understand why. Try to understand what the writers are saying. Try to understand how certain plot points and events could have a bearing on different characters.
Please just…. Try?

Oh yes, and in general, these books are an excellent example of "if your characters act like the world is normal, the audience is probably just gonna roll with it."
There's a lot to be said about how/why to make that work, but it mostly boils down to, "Is this something the average reader of this genre is familiar with?" and/or "Is it similar enough to real-world concepts that they'll get the point?"
Governor Module... Hm don't know that one, but 1) it was hacked, so it must be a computer thing and 2) its purpose is pretty obvious from the name and what the character said it can do once it's hacked.
The feed? That's a new word, but okay, it says "entertainment feed" and you can watch shows and stuff with it. That sounds like a kind of internet thing, I know how internet thing works.
Streaming media at work? Everyone knows this! Oh, we can stream media directly in our brains here? Baller.
Giant sand worm? Everyone knows giant sand worm!
There's that feed thing again. Oh we can also send messages using it! Definitely an internet thing.
Laser guns? We fuck with laser guns. Laser guns in arms? Gotcha, character is either a robot or a cyborg, let's keep reading and find out which.
Hopper? New word but obviously a flying vehicle based on what they're doing with it.
Etc.
And really, we see this all over in fantasy and science fiction writing!
Star Trek didn't get around to explaining how warp drive works until TNG, but it's clear from the beginning that it's how spaceships go fast (and remember, this was a pretty new idea at the time).
Teleporter? Ok we've seen stuff where people disappear from one place and reappear somewhere else, now we have a device that does it.
Light saber? No idea how that works, but I know sword and I know light and it's glowing so ok cool.
If something is really new and really strange and really important to the plot, you can go back and give more explanation later. But you can get a loooong way by just. Showing characters using and interacting with things to explain what they are and how they work.
And if you really do need to explain something, a couple sentences will often do, and we can discover more about it as the story goes on.
Jedi?? No idea, but everyone knows knights. Yep and these are good knights, got it. Ohhh, there are evil knights too.
The force? Oh, it gives these Jedi people "powers," so like. Makes them superheroes or wizards. Some kinda magic field. That's neat!
Ah ok, this Darth Vader guy is one of the magic knights. Oh shit he just choked a dude out from across the room! So that's one of the "powers" the Jedi have.
(Martha Wells takes this to an extreme, but also by almost never explaining exactly how anything works, she leaves herself open to just go, "Oh yeah it does this too, but it can't do that" later on in the story.)
An important writing lesson I'm taking away from Murderbot is that you don't always have to ease your readers into the world and the characters and speculative concepts. Sometimes you can just start with the fun part where there's a sandworm trying to eat someone and that's fine too.
#ah that got a bit long#but it's one of the things I'm really passionate about in crafting scifi and fantasy stories

Vent:
It's official
I'm scared of her rn because since i deleted my DA account, she won't leave me alone.
She's still stalk and harassing me despissd facts, i left this god awful website.
She's calls me like a pedo, zoophilia, child murder and etc with no proof and took out of context.
Like explame this as possible i am:
1. Pedo stuff:
The reason why she's call me a pedo because i favourite parody of Cuties which was make funny of pedo which i favourite because i like people make fun of this type people who deserve that from piece of shit but i regrett favourite this art.
And one thing, i hate Cuties because you know why.
I'm glad it's got remove from good.
2. Zoophilia:
She's calls me a Zoophilia just because i comment of one my friends art of "Oh No, He's so Hot" gif of Squidward from picture of Donald being muscular (it's not fetish art btw) and she's believe i have crush on Donald which i don't have actually crush on Donald Duck.
Do i like Donald Duck, yes but do you have crush on Donald.
The answer is fuck no.
Donald isn't my fictional crush.
3. Shipping Ren and Stimpy.
She's believe i ship Ren and Stimpy just because of i comment one of person which i ask person where she's start ship Ren and Stimpy because i like heard when they start liles ship or anything.
Beside i don't ship Ren and Stimpy because i see them as friends and nothing else more.
4. She's hates when someone favorite artwork just because they don't like.
She's blame me of i favourite Spongebob x Vocaloid: Lust because she doesn't like song which okay fine but why you blame me from this.
Oh yeah because he's was prevent to female or some shit which btw i never actually listen to Lust or anything because i'm not interest on song.
Only i favourite because artwork was amazing and that's why favourite art in first place.
5. She's blame me over i ship something.
She's blame me over i made status about i cringe myself when i used ship Elsa and Selena Gomez just because i thought it's was adorable.
Keep mind, i was minor back the day, i didn't have brain development until i get olded and realized:
What the fuck is wrong with me.
Idk what's wrong with my younger self when ship this two.
I'm glad i stop ship this two because it's was weird af.
6. She's calls me a child murder.
Yup she's calls me a child murder because of i was hyper about FNAF movie and says i'm only watch movie because i want see kids get killed which wtf are you talk about?!
I'm not watch movie because kids get killed, i'm watch this movie because of how adoption of game it's was.
And i'm glad they didn't show kids get killed in movie because last time i have experince with kids get killed is was hard to watch.
7. She's rant about how i so called treat my friends shit.
Now yes, this was true i was asshole about my friends about whole of "Freddy hates his friends" but i was only mad at this because my friends is remind me of toxic cartoon community and i don't want my friends become one of them but since i watch AOSTH and Scratch, Grounxed and Coconuts are become my new favorite characters, i realized i was asshole towards my friends and i apologie to him from real this time and he's accept this apologie.
This now, we talks about Freddy fight Peck or other his interest, hell i even give him a idea and drawing based of i comment on this because i want make him a happy and i love make friends a happy.
But what really pissed me off is she's lying about me so called sent my whiteknight to my friends which it's was bullshit because i don't even have whiteknight and don't want harassing my friends over this.
I may was asshole but at least i apologie about my action and i want improve myself.
She's just lying herself with no proof of this.
8. Finally she's get trigged over i made one meme of Lincoln get kick out which was meant be make fun of toxic TLH fanbase of how overprotective Lincoln when Lincoln is no better.
Now if you see Such No Luck, i made meme this because i want pissed TLH fans off because how over sentisive about this when Lincoln is no better because he's was lying about he's got bad luck just want have free time when he's could tells his family honest.
Before you say, no i'm not defense Lynn Jr and facts, both of them are unlikable.
So yeah.
9. She's blame me over the facts, voice actor of Abby (Back at the Barnyard) is anti vaxxer and she's say i should proud of her because she's so called cares her children which i have question:
If she's so called cares her child, she shouldn't realized maybe i should protect my kids from infection but nope, she doesn't give a fuck about her children and forced on people who tells to wear mask is canceled culture which prove me a point, she doesn't care from children.
And i want talks about her double stands ass because i like how she's called me a pedo when she's also defense Rev Says Desu who is lolicon and she's defense him by saying:
"Oh he's not going after a real kids, they are just fictional characters" which is gross af.
And thing is she favourite of My Melody and Kuromi from Sanrio x Yu-Gi-Oh pillow sexual which remind me of:
"My Melody and Kuromi are underage" which is red flags because how she support this type shit.
So remember i tell you about she's thinks calling me a child murder just because i was hyper about FNAF movie.
About that, she's also double stands because she's calling me a child murder over FNAF movie but yet, she's have favourite FNAF on her DA.
Hey are you same person telling me about i'm so called support child murder just because of one movie but yet, you favourite FNAF despised facts, you just said to me i support child murder but i guess, she's become stupid af and acting like she's a innocent person.
Yeah fuck this bullshit.
So yeah, i'm done with this shit.
It's time to move on from good.
So yeah, if you reading this:
Please leave me the fuck alone, i don't want have deal with you or anything.
I just want get free from stalker and harassing i got from you.
So please leave the internet and get some seriously help.

When I think about arcane arc 2, I’m just really :/ that it feels like they dropped the ball on their generational trauma theme. Like, we didn’t properly explore Ambessa and Cait’s new dynamic and Caitlyn had no reflection on her mother’s death anymore, Ambessa forgot about Mel??, Jinx was “fixed” by Isha, we have once again sidelined Ekko and his revolutionaries plot, and Vi and Jinx, who were trying to Kill each other two eps ago, are chill now (listen the catty fight was fun but ya know. besides that.) Like what about revolution eating up innocence and your sons and daughters and toxic coping strategies being passed down! Idk, I guess has someone who is a bit of a tragedy enjoyer (tho I like optimistic/happy endings lol) and someone who really likes toxic nuanced relationship (and arcane really focused on familial too!! which I love) I feel they really lost themselves trying to go the fluff route. This just isn’t that type of show. This is also why I think Vander’s character kinda threw a wrench in season 2; was there really a point to be made in bringing him back? Kinda thought he had already served his purpose but Idk! There’s other things to critique, and even things I enjoyed too, but I think if I had to boil down the main sentiment why I didn’t like arc two, it would be losing this character thread. So much of season 1 hinged on it, so many great scenes came out of it, feels bizarre fumbling it so bad in arc 2…
Yeah T.T The Vander one hits especially hard, because like. He really is done here. There is no reason for him to exist in the story anymore. The show even agrees with us, they brought him back ONLY to take him away from the girls again, and that is just stupid and boring. Sure, Warwick has to exist bc LoL, but there was no need to introduce him into the plot - the hints in s1 were plenty enough to give him a backstory.
And the most important part: WHAT ABOUT REVOLUTION EATING UP INNOCENCE AND YOUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS AND TOXIC COPING STRATEGIES BEING PASSED DOWN!!! HELLO???? THE MAIN THEME OF SEASON 1???????? It was about a bunch of revolutionaries trying to do good for their families, and how good intentions don't mean good results. Vi learned the passive rejection of a revolution from Vander, Jinx learned individualistic toxic obsession from Silco, Mel rejected her mother's "kill before you get killed" policy. None of this is important in s2 anymore!! I thought Isha would die in an act of revolution, bringing home the "is revolution worth risking the people you are doing it for in the first place" theme, but no. No! Because we are abandoning that line of thought! And you're right, the reason for that is the dumb family fluff they suddenly pivoted into. I adore family stories and relationships, but I'm not buying the Vander-Jinx-Vi-Isha unit for a moment. Jinx-Isha-Sevika, which had good setups, was abandoned and for WHAT!!!! CHEAP FLUFF???? Augh. Sad.

Thoughts on Joongdunk divorce and PR for branded pairs
so I read about the Joongdunk divorce era related ongoing drama and I have to say the thoughts I have are...perhaps very crazy but - sorry I have permanent brain damage from House MD - it fits. So take my opinion with grains of salt or better yet dont take it at all and just enjoy the conspiracy theory of it all. I'm fairly sure Joong is faking it and im pretty sure khaotung is...not faking whatever this 'I am going to fuck first against the nearest surface' vibe he has going on but he's certainly playing it up/into every moment like he's in a olympics style marathon thats just rail and be railed by your best friend.
Out of all the GMM men I follow, I follow Khaotung and Joong the closest and I would also say of the people I follow these two are the most likely to lie through their teeth about every single thing. And we already know that Joong has been helping FK but kind of particularly khaotung get more socmed savvy. So there is definitely some thread here to believe that PR discussions have occurred at least between Joong and FK but more likely between all four.
And the reason why I believe the Joongdunk divorce era is fake? It's becuase the thing between Joong and Est *was* real and Joong handled it completely differently. I had no idea it had happened even though I've been following Joong on IG through that entire time not until I went to twitter. I realized that whole thing was falling apart ONLY because people were talking about it. Joong's own posting was very staunchly business as usual.
And suddenly for his own branded pair right before a critical show who's success doesn't only affect him? What is he doing? Hanging neon signs that he's getting divorced. You're telling me to believe that Joong is middle school shading Dunk where even *I* could notice. Yes, I thought it was mega weird when he promo'd the THK release with pictures of him and FK but not Dunk. By this point, they *must* be aware of how people are talking about the Joongdunk divorce and what does Dunk do? Post a picture with FK but not Joong in the middle of it.
Really? Hours before the premiere?
See, the options here to me are:
1) Joong (and Dunk) has undergone a sudden and TOTAL personality change where he's suddenly inept at doing PR
or the crazier and yet to me the more likely scenario:
2) It's staged
And why would one do that? Why take the risk right before THK? To drum up engagement obviously. See we know that companies only care for numbers, these tweets and IG comments and likes are all going into some graphical format presentation in front of a guy who doesn't know or give two shits about what a divorce era is. So people talking about JD because their hobby is sniffing each other’s crotches or because they can’t stand each other is the exact same thing.
But how does Khaotung and his diabolical mind play into it, why did I bring him up in the beginning? We know that Fadel and Style start out as enemies…so like who's fucking playbook is that? Matching your promo to the dynamic of your characters? Who is the olympics gold winner in cosplaying your characters cosplaying as yourself?
I know people forget things week to week on socmed. But First and Khaotung were barely present during THK filming, soms were more or less only getting FK content from THK official twitter than First or Khaotung.
Khaotung was doing more fanservice with Joong than First at one point and he had a flurry of solo events during which soms were once more fractured between special treatment for Khaotung versus First [FK themselves were honeymooning in Busan and we got nothing other than the most brain damaging story about First scouring Busan for a hat Khaotung wanted and two posts of Khaotung ass up in their room that First must have taken].
Suddenly almost on the dot a month before THK release? They dialed the heat up without a reciprocal heat dialing up of Joongdunk. Summer Night definitely got in the way of that where Joong was giving Dunk a polite wide berth on IG liking and commenting on Summer Night stuff but not doing any CP related things.
So First and Khaotung suddenly act like they can't function without sampling each other's dicks thrice a day while Joong and Dunk stay business as usual. One pair taking the lion's share of THK hype is not a good thing for the other pair and genuinely I was like is JD really okay taking up second fiddle spot to FK for WEEKS. Lo and behold, days before THK all people can talk about is JD.
Anyway the following is an honest to god real photo of me writing this insane post. I just think things are going really well for Joong despite it all and I don't think it's on accident.

I wanted to talk about Toothless and how his design and personality changed for the worst throughout the 3 animated movies (I won't be tackling any of the shows because I haven't watched them)
In the first movie he's at his best. His design is actually amazing, from the overall model structure to the patterns on his skin (which are visible in every shot, especially the ones taking place during the day, without ruining the 'illusion' of his black skin. It actually feels like it's resembling a panther aka black leopard in which the fur patterns are still visible). His face has a more aerodynamic shape, more sharp, a big curve.
His snarky but intelligent personality was really fitting for him. And we got to see more of it as the movie was progressing and he was getting more comfortable with humans.
In the second movie the patterns on his skin are still mostly there, way less prominent but still visible. His face got squashed down (a problem which only because stronger in the 3rd movie) but as a whole he still looks presentable, kinda. His posture changed too (but I'm too lazy to find evidence, you'll have to take my word for it).
I remember not having a problem with his personality in the second movie which is why I was surprised to see that this was only half true. He acts more domesticated, that's to be expected, but only around humans? When he interacts with other dragons it's like he's a completely different character, closer to what he became in httyd 3 than 1. He's still quite intelligent and more used to human equipment and people in general. In the first part of the film (especially this scene with Hiccup) he acts like how I'd imagine he should be in the 3rd movie, here it should have been a 'middle' ground, not 100% domesticated but not movie 1 feral either.
In the third movie he suffered the worst. Gone are the patterns on his skin, he's solid black now. His face got weirder too.
His personality got reduced to this stupid, slobbering 'dog'. His pupils are always dilated and his tongue almost constantly out. He acts unintelligent and he doesn't have that snarky personality he had in the first and even the second movie. He's basically a different character altogether. (That scene where he tries to 'woo' the light fury is embarrassing at best and shows exactly what's wrong with his character now).
They did it to make him more 'likable' to younger audiences + to make a good visual contrast to the light fury (who has an undercooked personality AND awful design as well), which is weird because they gave the light fury patterns on her wings?
The light fury looks like a beluga whale in the worst way possible. She has almost nothing going on visually to the point it doesn't even make sense. Her skin looks fragile, she's so weirdly smooth for no reason. It would legit be better if they took a night fury model and painted it white.
They gave her a 'cat' personality and took it away from Toothless (why couldn't both be 'cats'?). Also she's the 'girl' character, her only purpose is to be the romantic interest. She adds nothing to the film.
No comment in the live action design. Just ugly. Atrocious even.
Also something else that's been bothering me from the live action remake is this scene.
They've basically recreated every scene exactly as it was in the original so far (which is a bad thing) but the slight hesitation Toothless showed before touching Hiccups hand was the one thing they chose not to include? (I know the scene wasn't meant to have that in the beginning and it was an error in animation which they decided to keep because it gave the scene more personality so, why not include it in the live action?)
#I have so many opinions about these movies but they're mostly negative. the 1st one feels so detached from the others and it's a masterpiece#yes the patterns on his skin matter very much both to a 22 year old me as much as tgey dud in 8 year old me#I rewatched all 3 movies for this post and holy molly they're worse than I remember. except 1. ine is perfect#I rewatch it every year. the other two not so much. the 3rd I've actually only watched once#I dont like the whole 'my mother is alive and a super dragon master + everyone is kind of a dragon master actually. also toothless is alpha#takes away from the 1st idk#httyd#how to train your dragon#toothless#toothless httyd#not art#long post#httyd criticism

[ABOUT "THE RINGS OF POWER" RUMOURS GOING AROUND:]
Sooooooooo, I’ve been seeing this swirling storm of chaos over on Twitter and Tumblr, and it seems like shippers (and non-shippers alike) are whipping themselves into a frenzy over this “Amazon Preview program” post. People are panicking, spinning theories, and already mourning the show as if the Valar themselves have announced its doom.
First of all—breathe, besties. Lemme grab those reins before y’all ride headfirst into Mount Doom on a horse named Speculation. Let’s take a step back, re-saddle our ponies of reason, and navigate this mess with a clear head. Because honestly? This panic spiral isn’t doing anyone any good, and it’s time we address it properly.
This post claiming to be from someone in the Amazon Preview program has thrown out the idea that The Rings of Power might get canceled, based on one alleged survey question asking how viewers would feel about such a possibility.
Naturally and obviously, that one sentence has snowballed into chaos: shippers blaming each other, Haladriels claiming to be the sole saviors of the show, and everyone else clutching their lembas bread wondering if this truly spells the end of Amazon’s multi-billion-dollar endeavor.
Spoiler alert: It doesn’t.
But before we dive into why, let’s lay this out clearly. Speculation without evidence is just that—speculation. Right now, this rumor has the same credibility as Gollum’s “juicy fish” promises. So, let’s chill out for a second, untangle the web of panic, and address this mess calmly, because trust me, The Rings of Power is not about to vanish into the West just yet.
1. No proof = no panic. While the original poster claims to be part of the Amazon Preview program, we have no concrete evidence that this survey or its specific question even exists. I'm sorry that's not me being mean, that's a fact. Until Amazon makes an official statement, take this with a grain of salt. Let’s not give ourselves heart palpitations over unverified claims. We don’t need to borrow worry from the future.
2. Viewership ≠ Haladriels alone. I’m sorry (not really), but this idea that Haladriels are the "main audience" and thus the show’s sole reason for survival? Nope. Stop right there. While the Haladriel fandom is vocal and sizable, they are not the entire viewership. Millions of people around the world are tuning in for the larger story of Middle-earth, the intricate lore, the stunning visuals, and their own favorite characters and dynamics—whether that’s Elrond & Galadriel, Durin & Disa, the Harfoots, or even Arondir's badass moments. Amazon didn’t pour half a billion dollars into a single ship.
Haladriels, who are you? The dwarves showing up at the last minute to the Siege of Eregion, claiming to be the sole saviors of the battle? Let’s pump the brakes on this idea, because while your contributions to the fandom are visible and often loud, you are not the entire viewer base. You’re part of the tapestry of fans, not the whole thing.
Yes, you’re passionate. Yes, you create fan art, fanfics, and engage actively in discussions. And yes, maybe you’re a good chunk of the audience (you are).
But—and I cannot stress this enough—you are not the majority of viewers Amazon is depending on for the show’s success.
The show has millions of viewers globally, and a good number of them don’t EVEN engage with shipping.
They’re here for the lore, the spectacle, the drama, or maybe just to see an elf and a dwarf bicker their way into a beautiful friendship.
Amazon’s decisions about the show—renewals, budgets, story arcs—aren’t hinging on one ship. They’re analyzing data from a massive, global audience across dozens of countries, not just the trending tags on Twitter or Tumblr. And even if Haladriels make up a decent slice of the pie, it’s not the whole bakery. This is Middle-earth, not a kingdom under one banner.
While the ship is part of the fandom's flavor, it is not the main course. This isn’t me throwing shade—it’s me asking for a reality check, from one passionate fan to another.
And just so we’re clear—this isn’t me throwing shade because I ship Elrondriel (Elrond/Galadriel). Trust me, I know my ship isn’t the entire audience either. Elrondriel shippers are a passionate, creative, and dedicated part of the fandom, but we’re also just one piece of the puzzle, just like Haladriels are. Believe me, we’re in the same fandom boat here—just sailing with different banners.
I understand the urge to feel like your ship carries the weight of the fandom. When you’re surrounded by incredible art, fic, metas, and headcanons that fuel your love for a pairing, it’s easy to think, "We’re the backbone of this fandom!" But the truth? We’re all in this together, and none of us—not Haladriels, not Elrondriels, not any ship—can claim to be the be-all and end-all of The Rings of Power audience.
We might feel strongly about our pairings, but the reality is that shipping communities are just one part of the much larger audience Amazon considers when making decisions. There are fans who aren’t on Tumblr, Twitter, or AO3, fans who aren’t debating ships, and fans who might not even care about romance in the show at all (I know, wild concept, but they exist!). They’re here for the epic battles, the exploration of Middle-earth, and the overarching story.
So, no, this isn’t a case of “my ship is better” or “your ship doesn’t matter.” It’s about perspective. I care about fandom health and fandom spaces, no matter the ship. I’m here advocating for all of us to recognize that we’re not the sole audience Amazon is catering to—and that’s okay. We’re all contributing to the fandom in different ways, and that’s something worth celebrating.
So to Haladriels feeling like the show’s fate rests on your shoulders, let me reassure you, that you have to produce and produce and produce: it doesn’t.
The show’s survival isn’t riding on Elrondriel either, nor on any single faction of fans.
We’re all part of the audience, but none of us are the entire audience.
The fellowship of fans is vast and diverse, and while we might be rowing in different directions sometimes, we’re still in the same boat when it comes to loving this world and wanting the best for it.
We might not ship the same thing, but we share the same love for this story and the passion to see it thrive. So let’s focus on that instead of spiraling into ship-centric fearmongering. Let’s celebrate what we love, stay creative, and keep contributing to this incredible fandom in ways that uplift us all.
3. Bezos isn’t walking away. The Rings of Power is Jeff Bezos’s lovechild. He and his family are reportedly huge fans of the Tolkien franchise. Love him or hate him, Bezos is not the kind of person to let a project this massive—one of the most expensive shows ever made—flounder without giving it every possible chance to succeed. The man is prideful, and he’s not just going to bow out because of mixed reception in its first season or something. If anything, he’ll double down, exert even more control, and pump the breaks on creative risks to bring the show in line with mainstream expectations.
You can even check this right here, which is from a trusted source:
You can also see this article and passage here:
As part of that investment Amazon MGM Studios recently acquired Bray Studios, where “Rings of Power” is filmed. Can we take that as indication that the show, which shot its first season in New Zealand, is staying in the U.K.?
JS: I think you can. Why not? No plans to move it. Very excited about it.
How have you found the reaction to Season 2?
JS: Obviously very different marketing levels and all of that [to Season 1]. But that being said, over 55 million people at this point have engaged since Season 2 launched. And if you look at the long-term trajectory, which is how this company looks at an asset like that, this is a long-term investment in that franchise. […] There’s well over 150 million viewers watching and engaging with the show. So I feel really good. I think we all do.
Is there any change to the 50-episode commitment?
JS: I don’t think so. [That] commitment is never the thing that’s driving what we’re doing. We’ll continue to make the show as long as we see global customers loving it and watching it to the point where — it is a business. Obviously, we need a large amount of people showing up. And there are a large amount of people, so there’s no debate about whether or not the show will continue.
4. "Cancelled" doesn’t mean what people think it does. Even if Amazon is “mulling over” decisions for Season 3, this doesn’t mean the show is on the chopping block. It’s standard practice for large-scale productions to reassess budgets, strategies, and audience reception to refine their approach. It doesn’t spell doom; it spells adjustments. Given the scope of The Rings of Power, Amazon likely planned for this to be a long-term investment and would have accounted for a slower start. Building trust and an audience takes time—just ask any successful franchise.
5. Let’s calm the Fellowship down. Worrying about every rumor floating around is exhausting. It’s like trying to outrun a Nazgûl while barefoot in Mordor. We don’t need that energy in our fandom right now. Yes, we can be critical of the show. Yes, we can hope for improvements. But the speculation about the series getting canned before Season 3 even airs is unnecessary noise that only feeds negativity and add worries to already existing conflicts.
TL;DR:
I’m not here to sound like your mom or anything—but if it helps, think of me as your friendly neighborhood Gandalf (minus the fireworks but with plenty of snacks). I’m just here to calm things down before we all start marching out of Hobbiton over a rumor that has absolutely no solid ground to stand on. This whole situation is snowballing—and let’s be honest, it’s not even winter yet.
This post that everyone’s spiraling over? The one about surveys and cancellation questions? It comes with exactly zero proof.
No screenshots, no corroboration, nothing to confirm it’s legit beyond someone’s words on the internet.
I’m not saying it’s impossible, but without evidence, it’s like claiming to have the One Ring but refusing to show even a glimpse of it. Sounds a little sus, right?
Look, I get it. The wording is scary. “How would you feel about cancellation?” is enough to make anyone who loves the show clutch their lembas in fear. But panicking and spreading unverified claims like wildfire isn’t helping anyone. It’s like rallying the Rohirrim before you even know what you’re riding to face—take a breath, assess, and then make decisions.
Until we hear something concrete, let’s not let this post stir the pot unnecessarily. The show is far too big to just disappear overnight, and Bezos’s pride alone will probably ensure we at least get to see this through. Let’s focus on enjoying what we have, continuing to provide feedback where we can, and sharing the love of this sprawling, beautiful world Tolkien inspired.
It’s a single claim from an unverified source with no screenshots, no corroboration, and no concrete evidence. Until we see something legitimate, this is just another shadow in the Misty Mountains of Fandom Panic™.
With everything I’ve mentioned—the insane budget, Bezos’s personal attachment, and the fact that Amazon has already made long-term commitments to the show—there’s little reason to think it’s on the chopping block. Is it possible they’re retooling it or adjusting things? Sure, that happens with every major series. But outright canceling the biggest, most ambitious project in their streaming history? That’s a huge leap, and frankly, it doesn’t line up with what we know about how Amazon operates (or how Bezos’s ego works).
So let’s not get sucked into the Eye of Sauron-level drama without solid proof.
I get that the idea of the show being in jeopardy is unsettling—Rings of Power means a lot to so many of us for so many different reasons. But until there’s something concrete, let’s not fall prey to baseless fear. Hold fast, steer your boats true, and don’t let panic steer you off course. Keep your lembas close, your theories reasonable, and your hearts hopeful. After all, not all rumors that spread doom are gold.
Bezos and his family love this series. The man isn’t going to let his shiny billion-dollar baby get canceled quietly.
Let’s channel some hobbit energy—grab a snack, take a deep breath, and wait for actual confirmation before we assume doom and gloom. We’ve weathered plenty of storms in this fandom, and this? This is just a passing cloud until we know otherwise. Stay calm, my friends. Middle-earth wasn’t built in a day, and neither are Amazon’s decisions. 🌿

I think that is a really interesting speculation and it doesn't seem to me that unlikely, especially since Amanda loves Caitlyn and I presume she was heavily involved in the culmination of their relationship. I can easily picture her making time for that.
It would also make a lot of sense with the themes of the show, especially for those of us who see some visual parallels between Caitlyn and Silco this season and Silco was a character heavily shaped by trauma.
That said, irregardless of what happened between Jinx and Caitlyn, I doubt it will change the critique of people who critique her from the "systemic" POV. Who approach it as "everybody has trauma, but because Caitlyn is in such an exalted and oppressor position, she just has completely different levers to pull, ways to make other people suffer for it than Jinx or Vi have". Because Caitlyn can just terrorize an entire city without even having to put in much personal effort. (and just because the show might not be about political issues doesn't change that certain people will insist that it should be understood that way, regardless of whether the characters or the writers understand it like that. ie just because maybe the writers didn't mean a save the damsel or fridge the girlfriend story to be sexist doesn't mean that people will see it as being part of a larger sexist narrative)
I feel like in the end, the people who already sympathize with her will sympathize even more deeply with her and the ones who don't likely won't be impressed just because Caitlyn's trauma was slightly worse than just losing her mother.
(which in the end is maybe another parallel to Silco, having had genuine trauma in his past and genuinely loving Jinx doesn't magically make him not a bad person anymore, so why would it be different for Caitlyn if she had genuine trauma and genuinely loves Vi)
The more interesting aspect is probably the character level. If Vi hears about it and she loves Cait and she sympathizes, does that mean that Vi will never forgive Jinx or never feel comfortable around her again?
From a shippy point of view I just don't think that it can work for Caitlyn to tell her story and for Vi and stand up and make excuses for Jinx. So the only thing that could work would be if Caitlyn got to a point where she learned to sympathize with Jinx (ie no longer blame Jinx because she sees it as Jinx having a mental illness).
I just have a hard time picturing that on a show as violent as this they can really do much to "impress" people. I just think that there's a low chance that they would go for something like rape. I guess Caitlyn could reveal that she has scars on her body that are underneath her clothes (which certainly would be a good setup for CaitVi in my ways), though I personally that doesn't seem like Jinx's typical modus operandi? I guess there could have been something related to drowning (to parallel Silco) or gas (as this is something that has been done by several characters on the show by now). But just Jinx saying cruel things to her and dragging her around is not going to impress the Cait-dislikers.
Even if it's still going to be a powerful moment for Caitlyn and Vi, less for how what Jinx did was particularly awful, but for how Caitlyn kept it bottled up (with the timeskip at least a couple of weeks, maybe months) and is finally opening up about it to Vi. (could maybe fit nicely into Cait having issues being emotional with Vi/always pulling back, back in s2Act1)
Basically, I assume the emotional performance will be excellent and it's going to be serve as a great and satisfying explanation for Caitlyn x Vi shippers as to why Caitlyn broke up with Vi in Act 1 (and pacifiy the people whose main anger against Cait was that she hurt Vi). But it might not move the needle for people who think Caitlyn sucks for using The Grey on Zaunites.
In this interview Amanda said something that caught my attention. Do you think that in ep 8 Caitlyn will talk about what Jinx did to her when she kidnapped her? Bc Amanda said that in ep8 there's a Caitlyn line that will make us say "Oh so that's why"
Amanda means this line that Cait is going to say will let us know why she was so mad at Jinx in ep 3 and how Caitlyn went completely blind when she saw Jinx in her target and bc of her anger and also her fear and terror of Jinx, Cait has completely lost control of herself in this moment. (there is someone who made a post on this topic @loycos and talked about what happened to Cait in ep3 and how Cait didn't see Vi or Isha in front of her bc of her anger and her deeply terrified of Jinx) I mean look at her eyes and the expression on her face, yes she looks angry but she is also terrified.
This is a natural reaction. I mean for example, imagine that you see something that scares you so much. There are two reactions, either flight or fight, and these reactions always come without a person thinking. At this moment the person is only thinking about getting rid of the thing that scares him, and he does not focus on what is around him bc these strong feelings control him.
Anyway, what makes me sure that this scene might happen in ep 8 (Caitlyn talking about what happened to her when Jinx kidnapped her) is Reed Shannon (Ekko VA) comment when he saw the drawing and said "I thought this was a leak" Reed might be joking as usually, but why this particular drawing and why he chose this word "leak".
But honestly if this scene actually happened and we knew what happened to Caitlyn, it would make us understand more why she was so angry and scared of Jinx when she saw her in front of her and it would also explain why she literally went blind and didn't see anything around her at that moment, neither the child nor Vi, all Cait saw was Jinx, she just wants to bring down Jinx. I mean look at these pictures she is so terrified of her
Again Caitlyn's insistence on killing Jinx in the scene in ep 3 was not only motivated by revenge on Jinx, but also out of fear and terror of her.
And not like those idiots who say that Caitlyn wanted to kill the child on purpose to get to Jinx or even say that she wanted to kill Vi too, or bc she's a cop and the cops kill children and blah blah... That's really ridiculous and annoying!! Bc if we focus a little bit on the period that Caitlyn went through we will see that Cait didn't have time to process all these things that happened to her, from the torture that happened to her when Jinx kidnapped her, then the killing of her mother, then the attack on the memorial ceremony. (I know that Jinx is not the reason, but from Caitlyn's perspective she thinks that Jinx and the Silco followers are the reason)
And in the end I hope that no one comes who doesn't like the post bc I am defending Caitlyn's character. If you don't like this character I don't care, there is no need for you to write a stupid comments. Please don't tire your little fingers if you don't like my post block me this is better for you and me. I will not waste my time responding to you, I will delete your comment and block you immediately.
I am a student at the Faculty of Psychology, and when I talk about trauma and the interpretation of human behavior and reactions, I know well what I am talking about. Bc most of the characters' reactions in this show are very realistic and need to explanation, writers do not want to explain everything in the show, they want viewers to occupy their mind and explain the events themselves (And I still repeat the point that the show focuses on the development and complexity of the characters more than anything else, and does not focus on solving political issues, the show is not about politics, okay)
And btw some people ask me about my opinion of Jinx's character, I have no problem with her character at all, I like her and I understand her condition, when I criticize her actions, it doesn't mean I hate her.
One day I may do a post about her character development and her condition, but I see that there are many posts about her and her actions, and I feel like I won't say anything new about her. Unlike the rest of the characters like Vi and Caitlyn, there are not many people talking about them. And maybe I will make a Viktor post bc I really like the development of his character. When the show ends, maybe I will.

How was Sleep No More?? Any hot tips for someone who’s never gone before?
It was so good! No idea how I managed it but I got two 1:1s and a walkout on Monday night, and I filled in all the bits of Lady Macduff’s loop I hadn’t seen yet. Some really beautiful performances, and a funny moment where I was getting candy from Paisley’s and two other white masks were clearly like wait is that allowed? So I put the jar on the counter and slid it over to them.
And re: tips, wear comfy shoes and drink some water in the Manderly before they let you in. Then just find an actor you’re interested in and try to follow them through their whole loop. The show loops 3 times, so you can switch to anew character once you’ve seen the whole loop.

On Rob's Good Omens sweaters...
Bluesky has some photos of Rob Wilkins wearing these two holiday sweaters:
At the first glance you go "awww, how perfect, I need those sweaters!" but then you're like "hold on a second!"
For the sake of this meta, I'm going to assume the designs are deliberate, and not just idk cheap fakes ordered from temu lol.
Let's start with stating the obvious. The red sweater has the characters' roles reversed - Crawly is sheltering Aziraphale. It's not a "book thing" either - there, Aziraphale held his own wings above himself. This is a minor detail, but Crawly's stance is also different than in the show - his legs are apart, in a position indicating strength, confidence, and protection. Meanwhile, the blue sweater has what looks like angel!Crowley sheltering a black-haired fallen angel. My first thought was that is could be Satan and this might be a hint that we're going to see Crowley's fall after all. But now I think different.
Regarding the red sweater in particular, my thoughts immediately wandered towards the multiple Edens theory and the two Crowleys theory. Just to quickly recap: discrepancies in the details on the walls of Eden have been spotted, and at one point someone from the crew mentioned that there were "many Edens" in existence (possibly testing grounds before the real one? Or several different enclosures for the first breeding pairs? We never found out). As for Crowley - many people have noticed differences in his looks throughout season 2. Most notably, his sideburns have differing length and it shifts within the same scene, e.g. the sideburns are long in the pub, but short when he leaves the pub; they are short during the "exactlys" argument, but long when Crowley snatches his sunglasses while storming out of the bookshop. Bildad the Shuhite also has two different hairstyle (one is shorter, more evenly cut and carefully combed, whereas the other is longer and a bit more "windswept"). There's also the matter of different camera filters, which is a commonly used technique to show different worlds (think Supernatural, and I think also some MCU films?), and the disappearing props.
So, taking the sweaters into consideration, could the world of Good Omens be comprised of multiple realities? The novel is one. Season 1 is another. Season 2 shows TWO (!), which are almost identical. Who knows, perhaps the Crowley with the short sideburns managed to sway Aziraphale in the Final Fifteen, or even changed his mind and hopped on the lift at the last moment? What if, presented on the sweaters are two more? On, in which it was Crawly offering shelfter to Aziraphale, and another one in which it was Aziraphale who fell (and his hair blackened in the process). Perhaps there are versions of this (sorry, couldn't resist!) in which they both fell, neither did, or they were an established couple by season 1?
It this were to prove true in the movie, it will have some pros, of course. Firstly, it would legitimise virtually all headcanons you might have (I was a little upset when s2 finale made it clear they weren't secretly a couple before). It would also boost creativity for all the reverse!Omens fic writers. And, of course, it would explain many things fans have noticed, especially about s2.
However, other than that, I don't think I like it that much. Above all, I simply dislike multiverse - I find them often too convenient narratively, while also needlessly convoluted. But aside from that, I wouldn't be happy to see that particular take in the movie. If we were getting out 6 episodes, it would be fun to watch particular scenes and increasingly go "huh?" as we spot consecutive discrepancies and minor details that don't work. And by the time it was revealed it would feel really rewarding that you have spotted the details, even if you failed to work it all out. Within mere 90 minutes… it just doesn't feel like enough time to drop enough hints, or, alternatively, the movie would be oversaturated with them. Finally, it would mean less screentime for the mercilessly truncated Aziracrow reconcilliation arc (which I am still grieving over), as instead we would receive glimpses of different universes, while still navigating the complex Second Coming plotline. Also, what would be the endgame? All the Aziraphales and Crowleys combining their forces to beat heaven and hell/the new christ/god herself? That's a bit too Marvel if you ask me, and with all my reservations about the movie, I rather trust Narrativia to offer us something much more original.
#good omens#good omens 3#good omens movie#yes I hate that we're only getting 90 minutes sue me#good omens movie theory#rob wilkins#good omens meta

I wouldn't blame anyone for finding Look My Way too Stolas-sympathetic and weepy but honestly I think on the whole it's way better than most of the songs he gets in the show
and that's because it actually has a narrative arc to it. Stolas reflects on his life, realizes he is the problem between him and Blitzo, actually shows some empathy for the armor Blitzo has developed as a result of being impoverished, then decides on an action: making amends for making Blitzo a means to an end. and it retains his original classist character by having the impish plaything line that the show whitewashed over
it still has the same problem anything Stolas related does in that it's hard to care about his repeated pleas for Blitzo to look his way, but it's a far more concise view of him as a character and crucially he actually shows some ability to self reflect in it and then take action based on his conclusions
ParanoidDJ released the original after ep6 but honestly it would fit perfectly in the show after ep7, where Stolas comes back in from the party. instead of getting drunk, maybe he stops and makes himself think about where things went wrong
instead the songs he has in the show are
Stolas Sings - immediately implies Blitzo lied to him, so no self reflection or introspection. It's set up he'll go to get a crystal but that isn't referenced in the lyrics, it's just a split second freeze frame when he chucks his book into view of the camera which is bad storytelling. It's all self focused self pity - he's the victim and that's that. no sign of care for what he's done to Blitzo or Via unlike Look My Way.
All 2 U - a breakup reflection where he does no self reflection or introspection. blames Blitzo for stuff he did (let him get too close/go on too long/fell too far). all self focused self pity - he's the victim and that's that
duet number - does say he maybe did something wrong, but it only counts if Blitzo didn't actually want him (then when Blitzo confirms that, he proceeds to...show no self reflection or introspection - just he's the victim and that's that, you get the idea)
the show numbers not only fail to move the plot forward, they don't move Stolas' character forward at all. Look My Way really sticks out as one of his numbers because it's basically the only one where he does explicitly say 'I'm in the wrong and need to fix things' where in the show it's always 'maybe I did something wrong, maybe, but you hurt me so you're more wrong and I'm putting off doing any self reflection on what my issues are until Tuesday - when I'll put it off again'.
he's far more proactive in LMW too - he doesn't sound like he'll just give up on making amends at the first failure. meanwhile Show Stolas has done only two proactive things when it comes to Blitzo onscreen: making the deal and breaking the deal. both things were done for his own benefit and he's now back to being passive and expecting Blitzo to be the one to come crawling back to court him even though Blitzo has every reason to think he moved on with the succubus dude to spite him in particular
This moment here
It wasn’t him feeling some guilt/remorse for how obnoxious and forceful he behaved, or sympathy for Blitzs unhappiness. He is thinking “Aww….he doesn’t love me, that makes me so sad. Poor me. I deserve love. I just want a lover.”
Well anon, the simple explanation LMW stolas is so different…..is, Vivienne/Sam Haft didn’t write that. They both do think stolas is the more innocent and more victimised party. That’s why before Full Moons confrontation, stolas has sung not one, not two but three sad ballads about his soft boy romantic feelings. And it’s why stolas’ personality was changed drastically between his nasty truth seekers self to his Ozzies bleeding heart self. To make you forget his 1-6 self ever happened and pity him.
While blitz was only allowed to smirk and make sex jokes in a verse of stolas’ third sad song. With the intent of making him look like the “real” pervert with a cold black heart. His verse in when I see him was intended by Sam to set up “that your first instinct is that it’s always (gasp) about sex (closes eyes solemnly)” line. Stolas is allowed to have an inner monologue, desires, worries, regrets and hopes. Blitz is only allowed say “fuck” “penis” and “im traumatised”** with an asterisk saying that makes him an asshole and not “baby” stolas’ fault. Spoken to you in apology tour dialogue delivered by the lovely: Vivienne Mayday aka Verosika Medrano.
Viv didn’t write look my way, and disagrees with the narrative.
She hates Octavia for not being more grateful to her father and thinks stolas deserves to be free from being her parent. So took his line about her out of the song. Twitter emboldened her to go through with this belief. So she took her line out of LMW.
She hates blitz for disliking upper classes, implies he’s “just like a supremacist” against princes for it. I think this also came from Twitter. You are NOT allowed to point out the racism of stolas or you’ll be branded a striker sympathiser.
She agrees with stolas fans that the real reason blitz doesn’t trust stolas’ gifts with no catch is nothing to do with stolas’ previous exploitative transactional actions….it is….because of his own mean imp father? Because Cash taught him love is transaction. A very convenient excuse Viv absorbed again, from Twitter and YouTube.
Cuz….it was cash. Not the sexual extorter who held his job over his head. That’s his soulmate cause owls only mate once via eye contact and die of broken hearts if they can’t have their mate forever. His 25 year long lust for someone he only knew as a child isn’t weird at all wdym. In fact all the bad stuff is Blitzs fault.
She absorbed all of this nonsense from Twitter takes, specifically the stolas stans, because she thinks putting fandom talking points into canon is a safe bet. The actual story is out the window, there isn’t one.
See how letting the stolas fandom twitter write your story for you makes for a biased fucked up victim blaming story that coddles a sexual abuser with “involuntarily celibate” arguments?
When she makes stolas reflect and take accountability, the reaction she wants you to have is “Poor baby stolas blames himself which shows what a good little boy he is! Even though nothing is ever his fault!” She just wanted to make money off of someone else’s work.
