cold compresses also help a lot with the itching, just use very much in moderation, as icing causes constricting blood vessels and, thus, reduced healing. I only used ice when the meds wouldn’t cut it and never directly on top of the scars or grafts.
cold lotion works too. just put a bottle in the fridge and use it to massage whatever area is the itching. Helps improve circulation and breaks up stiff tissues. Also just really nice to have cool lotion rubbed all over your body, dry skin just makes the itching worse. Just only use on closed, healed skin or healed scars.
the itching was the worst part of recovery for me. it felt like ants all over my body and kept me awake at night. hope this helps!
Thank you for the advice!! Since I tried the allergy meds it hasn't been itching that much but if it ever gets bad I'll definitely try the cold compress/lotion <3
I do massages every day, though I think I'll stop for like two weeks now bc I've been noticing my scar on the right side getting a bit wider :') that side got a bit opened up since I'm right handed and probably did more stuff in my first 2-3 weeks after the surgery than I should have, so now I'm trying to minimise any more stretching on it
