S1E1 ROSE

When Rose Tyler meets a mysterious stranger called the Doctor, her life will never be the same again. Soon she realises that her mum, her boyfriend and the whole of Earth are in danger. The only hope for salvation lies inside a strange blue box.

1. LOVE this opening. Such a great bedroom hahah. Perfectly messy and pink—makes me wonder what t2r’s shared bedroom must look like now!

2. What does Jackie do for a living? I know it’s canon (or fanon?) that she’s a hairdresser but do we actually ever see her working as one?

3. Who’s Derek? And why does Rose think a mannequin prank would be up his lane? RUN. Such a great meet cute 😭😭😭😭 these two are married now you guys!!!!!!!

4. ‘Cos to get that many people dressed up and being silly, they got to be students. 
That makes sense. Well done. 🥺🥺 nothing just the Doctor always appreciating the insight Rose brings🥺🥺

6. ‘So, I'm going to go up there and blow them up, and I might well die in the process, but don't worry about me. No, you go home. Go on. Go and have your lovely beans on toast.’ ohhhhh he wants her to join him so bad 😭 the poor guy. This is right after he’s destroyed his entire planet and there’s just SOMETHING about Rose he sees, huh? 😭🥺 also ’Nice to meet you, Rose. Run for your life.’ Such a great line!

8. ‘Honestly, it's aged her. Skin like an old bible. Walking in now you'd think I was her daughter.’ oh my God Jackie Tyler I have missed you. Imagine your mum reacting to you almost getting blown up like THIS though 🤣 yikes!

9. Rose doesn’t tell Mickey about the Doctor—no matter how ridiculous the plastic plot sounds she believes him, even if it is unconsciously at the moment

10. All the calls Jackie is getting one after the other insinuate a pretty closely knit neighbourhood, doesn’t it? All these people know where Rose works and are concerned enough to call up. Imagine how traumatic the sudden shift to Pete’s World must’ve been for Jackie—I know she’s got the parallel version of Bev but it’s not the same, and it must’ve taken a WHILE to adjust to everything.

11. “The airs and graces” comment. So much to be dissected here! Jackie’s relationship with herself and with her daughter implied very heavily in this one line. She seems to be jealous, even.

12. They have a cat flap! Rose confirmed cat person moment (1). The Doctor waiting outside the flat xD. Talk about picking up strays🥺

13. The dialogue is so damn gooood. And Christopher’s delivery is so endearing

14. Jackie hitting on the Doctor!!!!! Need tentoo to bring this up ASAP. She’s his mother in law😭

15. Staircase shot is incredible. Love the Sort of, yeah❤️ bit. Also love how the Doctor repeatedly checks on how she’s handling the information (*Are you alright? Do you believe me?*)—however unconsciously he’s doing it, he IS checking her suitability as a potential companion 🥺

16. Mickey SMH. Also apparently he doesn’t wash his dishes 🤣

17. Loveee Clive. RTD’s writing is so immersive, it really makes the whole world come alive. These side characters add so much depth to the story—something sorely missing in the Moffat and Chibnall eras.

18. THE WHEELIE BIN. I always forget how fucking ridiculous this episode is until I rewatch it 🤣 also lord Rose is so uninvested in this relationship. P-P-PIZZA will always be one of my fav lines

19. The infamous Jimmy Stone! I love how we’re given the one line about him and it’s inspired thousands of fics. Rose considering completing her A Levels here—would that be something she’d be interested in doing in Pete’s World?

20. TARDIS!!!!! Doomsday theme begins here 😓😓 love how the Doctor is judging how easily she can accept his alienness—he claims to be done with human companions every time but he is undoubtedly impressed by Rose. Also find it incredibly interesting he didn’t even think about Mickey being dead. This, contrasted with other alien lives (including the Daleks, sometimes) that the Doctor seems to value…is an intriguing juxtaposition. Is there a little simmering jealousy of the boyfriend already? Is he slightly unable to look at consequences of actions beyond his own? He has just come off of a genocide at this moment

21. Mickey’s mother! Bit of a mistake here, we learn that he was raised by his grandma in *Father’s Day*

23. I always found it funny that Rose, who seemed so upset about Mickey a second ago, is now holding hands with Nine and running down the bridge lmfao. They really are very alike in their love for the thrill.

24. ‘Yeah, that was always a possibility. Keep him alive to maintain the copy.’
You knew that and you never said? 
Can we keep the domestics outside, thank you?’ hmmm. Jealousy, perhaps? Or a disregard for lives he doesn’t believe are at the same level as that of higher beings? As much as he rejected the Time Lords, he is a product of his origin, and has quite a condescending view of humans

26. The Nestene Consciousness is alarmed when it recognises that he is a Time Lord. Later in the show, it’s implied that the Time Lords were almost, if not as bad as the Daleks were, during the Time War.

30. The perfect opening episode. Extrapolation is done so elegantly and we even get a sense of how absurd the show can get. 10/10, and one of my favourite episode 1s!

Out of curiosity which ygo series have you watched already and what are your opinions of them ?

OOPS i completely missed this ask but i've watched gx and i'm 2/3 of the way through vrains! i haven't watched enough of the other series for anything in-depth, so i'll just answer it for these two!

gx: for such a huge main cast, i was surprised by how much all the characters grew on me. even the one-off side characters are memorable (abidos the third, i'll never forget you). i also love how stupidly ridiculous some of the episodes get? it never fails to make me laugh

judai is also one of my favorite characters ever. i love dumbasses with hearts of gold. i love his single-minded passion for dueling. i love his fearlessly endless optimism, his unfaltering determination, and the way he naturally brings people together by just being himself. he gets more jaded later (his depression era) but he manages to rekindle his passion for the things he loves while still retaining everything he learned through those life experiences and i'm just. ugh. i love him

vrains: this series is what got me back into the actual physical tcg (salamangreat represent!!!) (i play rikka sunavalon now but salads are forever) so if anything it'll have a soft spot in my heart because of that. i'm around episode... 80ish right now? so i haven't gotten to The Major Stuff yet (soon). but i really like it so far!! i'm the kind of person who gets into things primarily because i like the characters and vrains 100% nailed that. I LOVEEE TAKERU this is a soulburner appreciation page. yusaku and ryoken are also my babygirls

characters aside, my favorite thing about vrains are the duels??? they're so fun??? yusaku pulling off an extra link was legit one of the most hype moments in the entire show. on that note, i'm personally offended ghost girl didn't win more duels? her deck is atrocious (i am saying this positively). she runs imperm?? this girl plays meta. i cant believe she lost to mirror force. i think i actually laughed so hard i cried when revolver revealed his ultra powerful secret card and it was mirror force

Initial Impression: Positive reaction + Cha Woongki is in it

Overall Impression: It was cute, the concept was nice, the early 2 eps were Very promising and last ep was touching but the middle (esp 5-6) was quite meh for me. There was also a bunch of confusing stuff, esp in the second half, but I guess I won't try to investigate too much. It has people really talking and discussing and dissecting it though, which is a fun aspect.

Rewatch Impression: It's alright. I think I enjoyed the middle bit a bit more this time around but I'm still not super attached to the characters and this time, I got really bored by the last quarter even though it's supposed to be really quite emotional. The rating stays the same.

Initial Impression: Ahh, the tiktok clips I saw of eps 1 - 2 drove me a bit crazy, I loveee boyish, cute tops and then learned that apparently this is the A/B/O drama? but they’re both alphas (or rather - spoiler from tiktok comments - that Charlie’s an enigma?). and also seems like Charlie’s some sort of spy who will betray Babe? Man I kinda wanna just start watching it lol but it doesn’t end till Feb 9 next year smh give me 2 eps a week smh Anyway idk I feel like it has a lot of tropes I like, so maybe... if they can pull it off... I’d be thankful

Overall Impression: This show had everything: non-traditional alpha/alpha relationship, racecar competitions, x-men like superpowers, child trafficking, pseudo-incest if you think about it (from Kenta's side at least) and more. And it didn't have a super strong script, there were nonsensical elements and plot holes that didn't get addressed and things that happened to just move the plot along, but it was a fun watch nonetheless, both for the novelty and the entertainment factor. Babe was a very compelling character with his past and how he behaves in the present and his relationships with Tony/Way/people in general. Also helped that Pavel did a really good job with him and acted his ass off, there were quite a few emotional moments in there. I agree with some people's comments that I wish Charlie's actor Pooh as a better actor. And his character wasn't as developed or with depth as the other ones either, like in terms of emotions I guess. Although I really liked Charlie/Babe, my true ship winners might be Pete/Kenta in a Not Me ToddBlack fashion, to be honest, with Kenta as maybe my favourite character (2nd is Babe). They gave us like 2 tiny hints that they might know each other and waited until literally last 10 mins of episode 11 out of 13 to lay out their history. They have an interesting friends (-> brothers/crush) -> enemies -> allies again at the very end dynamic where I think that they could become lovers post-canon. Really had me writing a fic idea in my notes app after my few months of no drive to write.

Initial Impression: Another Idol Factory offering and this time more plot-based. It seemed to have REALLY good reception || The finale still isn't properly available yet so I don't really know how people will feel about the end but oh well, I'm gonna end up watching it either way because of how much people have been loving it

Overall Impression: I think I liked the first few eps and the potential of the series and the possibilities than I liked the actual series oof. Since everybody freaking loved this, I also had high expectations. I thought there would be more focus on the romance and fantasy and past lives aspect and less on the cop activity. I feel like they didn't choose the correct things to show on screen. I think most of the fight scenes and stuff were confusing and not choreographed very well, and some moments needed to have more time dedicated to them or have more gravitas to them. However, some moments were just shot/directed so beautifully. I enjoyed the parallels between Tharn and Phaya or their current life and past life. It shows the cyclical nature of Phaya and Tharn's lives, and it would've been even more impactful if we saw more of their past lives (their OG life or other reincarnations). Highly doubt I'm gonna think of the characters again, I somehow stopped being attached to them about halfway through - probably related to the fact that I liked the first few eps (half?) of the show better. They tried so many things, but I don't think they satisfyingly merged them or chose the correct things to focus on on-screen.

Initial Impression: It was getting generally good buzz, so I was curious but this Tumblr post talking about the Thai BL landscape recently and saying CM might be better than the original made me seriously consider watching it. I think I’m also more receptive to Thai shows with this sort of storyline/dynamic more than Japanese shows, so hopefully I’ll actually like the series this time.

Overall: I’m glad that I ended up liking this adaptation better than the Japanese Cherry Magic live-action which was meh to me. Karan and Achi were cute and endearing (and felt more human/real to me than Kurosawa and Adachi I think?). i’m so charmed by Jinta and Min actually, a vast improvement from the japanese version’s equivalent. I liked getting my little taste of celeb/non-celeb dating and typical idol show problems from them too. On the other hand, I didn’t care about Pai and Rock ship whatsoever, though they were okay as standalone characters. I enjoyed the adaptation and how it had the Japanese touches (the company try work for specifically) while also introducing Thai elements (religion, festivals, dialects). Great improvement on the kissing department and I’m glad they also squeezed the wedding in there.

Initial Impression: Be On Cloud production with actors who I'm not super keen on (Ta followed Andrew Tate on Twitter when I last checked…) but it's like a slasher, so I'd be curious to check it out. <- added to Considering when the first ep or 2 were out || 240229 - Added to Watchlist: I’ve been meaning to watch this since like ep 1 came out and I learned it was supposed to be horror-esque/slasher and seems like people have been loving it even more these past few eps. I’m actually so excited to check it out, I hope I love it and it rots my brain.

Overall Impression: I think this show landed the ending which is very satisfying. I was afraid that's where this show was leading because of certain choices in writing in eps 10 and 11 and that maybe they were gonna go for a kinda-happy ending to make it a BL but I really enjoyed it. Also interesting that there were so many predictions but despite them not being true, the finale still managed to be coherent based on what the first 11 episodes had set up for us while still surprising me. I enjoyed the first 4 eps and last few episodes more because it was more about the actual thriller/horror aspects whereas the middle 3 - 4 episodes were just so difficult to get through due to the bullying and police and Non getting dragged in more and more D: It had some good moments like Phee and Non's relationship etc but in general, just sad. I kept wanting it to move on to when Phee (and New) come up with the plan or to just go back to the cabin and the horrors. I think some characters were done really well while others were not, like they are all flawed and varying degrees of terrible but I have some that really compelled me (Tan, Tee, Fluke - liked these 3 enough to write so many words about them in another Tumblr post) vs those who fell flat for me and the main characters (Phee, Jin) kinda fell into that.I'm glad something like this exists in BL (though there wasn't much real romance in it lol). It also made me write so many words and posts on here, really gives you the itch to Discuss because of the different threads and characters and motivations and secrets.

Overall: Nobody in this drama asks before kissing lol not Doyoon, not Seheon, not the little kiss that Seheon's brother gave to sleeping Taejoon, and the other two, Juha and Taeyi, are experts in being creeps and having internalized homophobia that they direct outwardly to the guys they like as well (Seheon's brother fits here too lol). Yet, I enjoyed it a fair amount, the story was coherent (lots of open strands at the end though...), the acting was fine, I was endeared by Doyoon (is he the Omega X kid?), and the dynamics were enjoyable, if iffy on certain counts. Not super attached though.

Initial: Only season 1 is out for now and apparently it ends on a cliffhanger, so idk if I should be adding it to the watchlist quite yet but I want age gap GL (w dubious morality? idk what the discourse is about tbh), so I’ll add it and hope S2 is released in May as expected and turns out well. Also might watch/rewatch with Phoebe Rise's better subs, esp S1.

Overall: A dramatic, intense, first half of an age gap GL and though the plot is ridiculous sometimes (mother, father, and daughter all in love with Khun Nueng at different points in life), I was invested. The acting was good, the storyline was good, I'm into the age gap and honestly expected it to be a little worse based on how people were talking about it lol. I loved getting to see Nueng play a character which I'm more accustomed to seeing in male love interests (or at least in the YA fantasy I used to read as a teen lol): she's callous, she's closed-off, she doesn't show her emotions/weaknesses and will be publicly cruel while having a heart-of-gold and breaking down in private. I'm looking forward to the next part. Also, I'd totally forgotten about the subs link whelp, I understood what was going on nearly all of the time despite the meh subs, so it's fine.

Initial Thoughts: I’d been keeping an eye on it since it started releasing and it got pretty high praise all throughout. I think I can get into the we’re-not-biological-brothers-but-we-grew-up-together-as-brothers dynamic

Overall: I'm so glad I got over my pseudo-incest brother-lover aversion because I can now watch this stuff in delight. Though I must say, my favourite aspect of this show is the little family trio with Qian, Yuan, and Lili, with San Pang occasionally invited as well. I loved how they cared for each other and how though Lili was left out of the romantic duo inside their trio, it didn't feel like she was forgotten or sidelined. The romance itself, I think the development was nice, especially from Yuan's side since we saw how he thought of Qian and how he supported him and we also saw a bit of from Qian's when when Yuan was gone + when he returned. Since there was so much angst and build-up for like 10 episodes, their actual coming together should have been grander. Feels like their relationship actually switching to lovers wasn't treated with enough gravitas and seemed a bit too much too fast and they didn't seem to emotionally struggle with the switch at all, though I would've expected a bit from Qian. Lastly, Qian is so beautiful, like incredibly attractive to me, woah.

Initial Impression: We've been waiting on this for so long, the last one from the GMMTV 2023 batch that I'd been looking forward to. Hope it lives up to the hype.

Overall: GMMTV's first GL and MilkLove's first full GL; I was super excited, especially after having watched MilkLove in Bad Buddy and the Magic of Zero special, which is why I started watching this on-air (thought I'd start it even earlier than ep 8 but didn't because of exams). So it's a shame that I feel so... nothing about the show, especially the main couple; I think Aylin/Luna is my fave ship in here. I think I also just wasn't much in the mood for a silly high school romance series right now, which isn't the show's fault but contributed to why I didn't feel the pull to continue watching the show. When I did watch it, it could get pretty cute though, I giggled/gushed a few times, especially about Luna and Aylin. The teachers' storyline was cute too, though barely there. Aylin was the MVP for sure.

Overall: Got spoiled about the sad ending and what happens, so I prepared myself for that but it was still like you did all this on the first week of pride?! jail!! It did make me look forward to 4 minutes more though, after seeing Bible acting after SO LONG + seeing the natural interactions and chemistry between Bible and Jes. It was also a bit interesting/new to see Bible acting as just a regular guy who has a crush on somebody else rather than Vegas in flashy clothes committing crimes. I would've rated it higher if I felt anything for the characters tbh but I think I knew too much to get involved and also was like man... to both of the characters.

Initial: new Up show + everybody is morally corrupt + everybody seems to love ep 1. The synopsis seemed confusing, so I wasn't super interested at first, but seems like it's about somebody dying and the mother resurrecting him only he came back Wrong (because the wrong person came back in the body)? sounds cool

Overall: How does Ming live knowing he never faced Joe's original body while having sex?! A permanent body switch should have more despair, Joe is just stuck in this random guy's body forever while his own body was cremated... horrific omg. I knew going into the show that Ming is supposedly a terrible person who treats Joe shittily and Joe keeps going back to it and I think that preparation helped me really enjoy the show. The show redeems Ming by the end but it doesn't necessarily pretend that Ming actually treated Joe well back then, Ming's shittiness was the point. It's a fun show and I was excited to see Ming realize how much Joe truly meant to him rather than his crush on Tong (also, fuck Tong's attempted redemption!). I found Ming and Joe so cute together man, like when the times were good, they were soooooo good. Overall, a good show, definitely one of the better BLs this year and one where I wasn't disappointed compared to the hype.

Overall: I was so excited for this based on how people were talking about the first 4 or so episodes, which I also thoroughly enjoyed once I started watching. But in the middle it felt character motivations and actions were inconsistent and I was confused about certain narrative choices (the kiss...) and so didn't really feel the urge to keep up week to week after ep 8. I was gonna binge eps 9 - 12 at once but I realized that I actually do not care because most things I've read about those few episodes made me dread watching it and I don't think I'd enjoy it. I saw a few gifs

The trope of loml-reincarnated-into-a-man D: is doesn't specifically call to me but I'm not opposed to it at all. honestly I could get into it if done well or done toxic in a delicious way because I don't remember First Love, Again at alllll. anyway, we'll see with this one. || Okay, people seem to loveee it so far (5/6 eps out) and I've also grown more and more curious, so this one seems to be the next one, hoot

Overall: I think this show had a strong first half but the last two episodes were irritating and kind of forgot what the show was about in the first place. I enjoyed the 120-something year old San and his little family that spans generations, I like San's grumpy nature contrasted with Vee's bright demeanor, I liked the question of whether Vee is the real Wad reincarnation, I liked their romance and the tinge of sexiness, I liked San being cold to the idea of even doing anything with Vee but progressing to fall in love and ultimately choosing Vee regardless of whether he's the reincarnation or not. loved Juu! She was sooo cute and gorgeous and the acting was good, I want to see her more. But then for the last 3 episodes, we spent too much time with the flat, one-note villains with ridiculous fight scenes, hiding (ridiculous!!!) the stone situation from Vee and SanVee being separated and not on the same page instead of tackling this together, and no answers to one of the main aspects of the show (is Vee the Khun Wad reincarnation?) - just lipservice of "let the past be the past" as an afterthought. The premise and set-up of the show were good but it just fell flat at the end.

Initial Impression: I was going to watch the sex scenes even if nothing else because of all the woof/dog/puppy things that was going on with Fort's character but now that I've got a week of iQiyi VIP, why not.

Overall: A fine enough show, I think the dynamic and characters were interesting and the show/relationships threads were good for the main couple, especially the class difference rich/poor conversations and how their dynamic evolved. Thank you forever for all the puppy/dog Mut. Unlike most people who were so over the side-GL, I was actually quite into Vie/Mook (esp because they have some tropes I enjoy, such as celeb/non-celeb and one person makes their crush do chores/errands) and kept hoping for... something to happen, for their dynamic to progress. They didn't get a proper ending, which is sad. Vie was also such a good friend to Rak, I don't know why she was such a terror with Mook and then never progressed past it. Loved Meena, what a cutie. I do agree with the general consensus that the island episodes were better.

Initial Impression: one of my most highly anticipated. i'd kept an eye on it since it was announced but kinda lost interest after all the controversy surrounding Build. but now that there's a new actor + I've liked Sammon's work in Triage and Dead Friend Forever - DFF + excited to see how Bible does in a new role, I'm highly anticipating it again.

Overall: It's a shame that the last episode was not very good and it didn't tie up things well or do anything meaningful with the 7 episodes that came before it because I quite enjoyed 7/8 eps of the show and enjoyed both the Great nad the Tonkla portions of the story. I enjoyed the characters (and how terrible they were) and what I thought was going on. It was a good Friday watch + I liked it even more when I binge rewatched eps 1 - 6 and was anticipating the show more. And yet, it feels like they didn't explore the themes and potential of the storylines enough, especially the whole 4 minutes thing. It's fine, I don't hate the show and really liked most of the show but it feels like the last ep took the wind out of it.

Initial Impression: It's probably the biggest KBL of the year, even though it's not necessarily a BL, more like a queer drama. I wasn't planning on watching at first because it's supposed to be sad I think? But everybody seems to love it and also the main character is played by the actor who played Oh Ji Hoon in Beyond Evil!

Overall Impression: I really liked the different stories and relationships this show showed, whether it be Goyeong with Miae, his mom, and his friends, or Namgyu, Yeongsu, or Gyuho. I liked going through each little story and seeing how he and his circumstances changed through each pair of episodes. I was nervous about a sad ending, but it’s not really a super sad ending, an ambiguous, bittersweet one. I think I’m less annoyed at not ending in a relationship and a bit more ? at the fact that it doesn’t feel conclusive because Yeong’s still so hung up on Gyuho and is also so lonely. idk… somehow still didn’t feel finished. Yeong feels real, with his flaws and all. And I enjoyed going through the story with him. I also like how, often, this show feels so… without judgement, we just follow the story and the characters and their decisions and relationships, and of course there is fallout or consequences (and occasional like obvious villian-y like with Yeongsu) but generally, it’s just seen as how humans behave and live, without attaching morality or judgment value to these things.

Initial Impression: Highly anticipated as it's Hwang Daseul's new BL. Hope it's good.

Overall Impression: For me, this one was more like a To My Star S1 than Blueming, technically well-made and a well-told story but it didn't do much for me specifically. I did find it a bit boring in the middle but the early episodes were pretty interesting and I liked the main characters fine enough when they were actually together. I just think that after the time-skip, I found Juyeong and Hyunho to be interesting but Dohoe to be boring or to be not good to to Juyeong. I was unreasonably into Hyunho's storyline, like it's not anything new or innovative but I was still into it and kind of thought Dohoe and Hyunho would maybe be a better story because of their edges. But I like Dohoe and Juyeong too, they were cute in the first 3 episodes and the last episode. Actually, the scenes with all 3 of them were so good in terms of tension and their tenuous relationships with each other and the assumptions and competition. I don't actually know what more I wanted from the plot/relationships but it didn't resonate with me as much as I hoped/expected. I miss Blueming.

Overall: Interesting plot, great acting, the writing could have been better. The romance was like... I liked it, I'm into it but I don't think they went about it in the right way. I never quite bought the depth of their emotions and toward the beginning I couldn't even properly tell when Dr. Kan went from insincere flirting to get Wasan off his tail to real emotions. I don't even know how I feel. The suspense was fun, the eagerness to find out who did what, etc. but I don't know... didn't feel complete at the end.

This show is such an interesting case because on Reddit and on Tumblr, everybody seems to love it and MDL has some mixed comments but mostly positive there too, and yet the MDL rating is 7.5, I wonder why the discrepancy.

Jack & Joker: U Steal My Heart! (Thai - Nov 25): Yinwar new show ahhhh!!!!! and seems like a kinda plotty one as well. Need to watch the 12 minute trailer though lol || So fun!!!!! I like that it's 11 minutes of establishing characters and rising action (+ some history) but it doesn't show the resolution and conclusion the way pilot trailers tend to do, the mystery builds up the anticipation. The fight choreo looked good maybe? I'm not an expert in that at all but it seemed better than most of the other Thai BLs. I really hope the screenwriting makes sense and is logical and not non-sensical because pretty much all the plotty/crime BLs require a lot of suspension of belief. I've been looking forward to this since the initial liveshow trailer and now am anticipating this even more, on the edge of my seat! || One of my most highly-anticipated of the year and I am cautiously optimistic. Have heard mixed things about the actual storyline but idkk I hope I love it

Overall Impression: Firstly, fuck the message of the show. In shows like this, where they treat suicide as a personal, moral failure of selfishness and weakness rather than due to systematic issues in society, mental health struggles, or treating the characters with kindness, it's of utmost importance to just roll your eyes and see the story/acting/etc. Eps 1 to half of 3 were interesting and exciting but in the way of "I'm watching a show with murder and gore and people trying to outsmart each other" rather than about this specific show. The ending is... okay, I guess, expected it. In Part 1, Death just left something to be desired for me and this kinda continued here. Don't think I'll think of this show much (except maybe Lee Dohyun?) and the 2nd part didn't have the excellent pacing of the first one. Not as good as part 1.

Initial Impression: I saw it on the Certified Noonas coming up in January I think? But I also saw it getting good impressions on the r/kdrama on-air threads + pocha playlist's initial impression + it has Lee Dong Wook, even though it's not like I watch all his shows or anything

Overall: Interesting premise + interesting execution with all the flashbacks, they way the flashbacks were in Jian's POV, then Jeongmin for 1 ep, then Jinman (we did have some repetition during Jinman's that we already saw through Jian's). The flashbacks cutting through the current action were sometimes bothersome, especially after we'd already established important stuff and then the flashback stuff didn't feel as important as the current. I found Jinman intriguing and mysterious and understood him despite being frustrated with how he treated Jian at times. Jian, I liked way more at the beginning but then started being annoyed toward the end at times. Mihye was soooo cool. It was a surprisingly funny show, especially in regard to how this is just a job for these mercenaries and killers lol The ending was a bit anticlimactic in terms of how things were resolved + there was a bunch of important threads that were unfinished (aiming for a season 2?). I wasn't surprised by the ending but I don't know if they were aiming for that anyway, I think they knew the audience to predict it and were okay with it.

Initial Impression: Been waiting for this since literally 2023 after I watched Strangers From Hell and saw in Certified Noonas' 2023 releases that it was from the same director + is an interesting concept [Kdramas mentioned in Certified Noonas 2023 Releases: Murder DIEary (the synopsis is cool and the director is the same as Strangers From Hell but I’m looking at the MDL again and 2024? D: why so far but someone on comments has also been saying that the filming ended recently - Mar 25, 2023 - and it can still come out this year). 2024: Rolled over from 2023 and now it's called A Killer Paradox]

Overall Impression: Really enjoyed the first few episodes (up to ep 4), then eps 5 - 7 were kinda meandering and it felt like not much was happening (that I cared about anyway), then ep 8 was engaging again. In the second half, we focused a lot on Song Chon and his story to me wasn't as engaging as Lee Tang's and we also strayed away from Lee Tang and his thoughts. I liked the fun shots and the imagination scenes, it was interesting. I feel like the show didn't have many twists and turns, like it was all a bit anti-climactic, which dampened it. Had high hopes because of the concept + Strangers From Hell director but that show was a lot more atmospheric and insular and the character focuses were more engaging. Don’t think I’ll ever think about it.

Initial: I want to watch this in the theatres since it's showing around me! I hope it runs longer than just this week though hmm. It'd sure be something if I ended up watching this before ITSAY lol I can't believe I'd had that on my to-watch/curious list since like 2019 or whenever it came out and I heard some small buzz about it even though I wasn't in the show/movie sphere at all. The trailer was on my to-watch along with 3 Will Be Free lol.

Overall: A Thai movie in theatres near me + includes Billikin & Tu who I know despite not having watched either of their shows + heart-wrenching family stuff, of course I was into watching it. It was great, the quality is incredible compared to most of the Thai shows I watch. The characters felt so real, the acting was great, even the set design was incredible like the houses and everything felt so lived in - I noticed dust on the sill of the cupboard and stuff, it was crafted so well. I shed a tear as it was nearing the end and I thought that would be it but for the last 10 minutes of so, tears just kept falling. Very good.

Initial: Got curious on 240409, I saw this edit and initial good reaction to Eps 1-2. Heard good things all throughout the run of the show and good reception to the ending as well, so I'm excited.

Overall: A fun show with a fun concept and great acting + romance. It was funny and delightful most of the time, there was a kind of killer/suspense aspect but that wasn't really ever the Focus, Sunjae being killed was the focus; similarly, they didn't thoroughly explain the time travel because the mechanics wasn't the focus, Sol going back was the focus. I liked Sunjae and Sol together and it was fun seeing how Sunjae was slightly different in the different timelines lol I liked seeing the couple on high school, college, as idol!Sunjae and actor!Sunjae. It did feel a bit like consistency was lost in their relationship but that was the point i guess. It was a very romantic concept, the way they were falling in love in every timeline. Everything about it was good and I was engaged, I just don’t think I’d think about it much though.

Initial Impression: I wasn't fully planning on watching this because I was afraid it wouldn't live up to how much Squid Game affected me/my life,

Overall Impression: Man, I want the next season now because it's such a cut-off in the middle. This didn't change my heart/have such a hold on me like season 1 did but I did binge all 7 episodes in 1 day and it was a good time. It feels like there was very little progress in this season, like Junho's getting nowhere with finding the island (the boat captain is a traitor too) and throughout the whole season, Gihun's plans didn't feel like it had much weight because Inho knew about all of it. I'm obsessed with Hyunju, my beloved. I'm curious about most of the other characters but since they mostly didn't die, I haven't had like strong reactions to them or anything. I'm glad Hyunju's still alive though. Gihun himself was meh, wish he was giving me brain worms so that I could fujo out over Gihun and Inho the way the director was doing lol. Also wanted to know what was going on in Inho's mind. The purpose of this specific season is a little lost on me. It focused a lot on Xs vs Os and how people are so eager to stay out of greed by giving the money to the living contestants to split instead of to the dead people's families. But the bigger picture commentary just seemed to be about how difficult and futile it is to try to bring these systems down and there'll be traitors in every direction (Boat Captain, Inho)? Not a very conclusive season but we'll see how it goes next season.

I work in fashion so Top Gun wasn’t really on my radar outside of hearing abt it from my family but then I heard the sequel had just released so me and a few friends watched the original and then the sequel pretty much back to back. All I can say is that I loveee both films. Me and my friends are curious abt Tom Cruise. None of us had any idea he was such a beautiful guy both in 1986 and in 2022 asdfjkl we want to try to go thru his filmography. Any suggestions where to start? It’s quite a list.

oh BOY well first of all so glad you enjoyed the original and the sequel, and welcome to the tom cruise fandom nonny!!!! i actually haven't seen all of tom's films (though @rochc93 has, so you can ask them for more in-depth recommendations) but i'd recommend starting with:

the mission: impossible franchise (1996-present). SO very good. action films with spy found family, excellent music, character development, AMAZING stunts, high stakes, etc. the mcu absolutely could never. (also tom in rogue nation is The Best he has ever looked, change my mind.)

risky business (1983). top gun is the movie that Officially made tom a superstar, but the road to moviestardom was paved with risky business. it's a teen sex comedy with a surprising amount of depth, and tom is excellent in it.

collateral (2004). one of tom's All Time Best movies and i will forever be livid that he didn't even get a best actor nomination for it. he plays a hitman on contract killing spree and jamie foxx plays max, who vincent (tom) coerces to drive him from hit to hit. i won't give away further details, but if you like tension and excellent acting and a truly KILLER soundtrack, this is the film for you.

knight and day (2010). a more light-hearted action-comedy / spy film parody - lots of heart and lots of laughs.

american made (2017). the based-on-a-true-story of barry seal, a pilot who became a drug smuggler for the medellin cartel in the 80s and then became an informant for the dea. truly can't praise this film enough.

those are my top five (and i really would recommend the m:i franchise first) but honestly, it really depends on the genres you like!! if you prefer period pieces, i'd recommend far and away and the last samurai; if you like sci-fi, i'd recommend oblivion and edge of tomorrow and war of the worlds; and so on and so forth. he's been in so many movies that he's got something for just about anybody. :D

Can we hear your thoughts on KnT Soulmate? English chapter 7 just got released yesterday.

omg hii 🧞‍♀️ ill probably talk a lot more about it later when i read the new chapter but these are some of my thoughts 💗 1 im so glad kurumi gets her own story because after the whole situation with her and sawako in high school, they had such a weird but delicate balance of friendship and i became curious abt what would happen with kurumi later on but the story moves past it and we have to forget about her sadly... 2 i just think the soulmate chapters are amazing and beautiful and I HAVE TO MENTION that it basically confirmed for me that ms karuho shiina did in fact do the questioning of sexuality type of undertone throughout the manga on purpose.. it didnt start off with the typical kurumi and eiji falling in love but with kurumi and sawako being together + kurumi in this umm head space where she's thinking of sawako from so many different perspectives (romantically 💖‼️, as a rival and a peer to learn from, a monumental figure in her life since sawako basically helped her grow as a person and guided her unknowingly to a much healthier mindset, and a close friend she actually felt comfortable with for the first time since elementary school) and coming to the conclusion they are soulmates regardless of anything else. it's also obviously kurumi's personal redemption story but not as some evil villain becoming good... she was never really evil but just a very misguided teenager who at the time made decisions with consequences. this is her chance to... almost like what happened to ayane when she finally let herself go (not a 1-time complete healing but the beginning of it: she took a step out her shell and stopped devaluing herself for deserving love) and redeemed herself in her own mind - is what im waiting for in this series for kurumi. she's confident and loves herself somewhat but is constantly quesitoning her motives, thinking she didnt deserve to be forgiven, and is full of doubt so she clashes constantly in her mind and ends up numbing her sense of urgency, gentleness, and care when dealing with herself. i really want her to cherish herself as fast as possible but she cant just overcome it on her own (omg that theme keeps coming back - you can't grow [to love yourself] in solitude) and it's lacking for her to just suddenly become better when a guy shows up and at the same time rush a discovery process like that so i really love the bit with sawako in the beginning. alsoo i cannot forget im so happy and proud that sawako matured from her intial earnest but unsettling awkwardness to a hmm not mellowed but a more transparent ease with communication and presenting herself while still retaining her honest character. i love love loveee the fact that shes also a lot more secure with kazehaya and when i saw them joking around with each other i had to pause for a moment bc in the beginning shes such a precious and selfless person and that's great and all but she didn't believe in herself at all.. like when the high school class pulled the dating prank on her the way she handled it is hard to watch and very telling of how she sees herself.. she underestimates gestures of love towards her as mere kindness and at the same time overestimates the effort she needs to put in to repay it while also setting a thick boundary and voluntarily putting herself on a level lower than others. but the way that she's now able to understand favors that ought to be repaid, the difference between that and a gift - defined a thing given willingly to someone without payment, helping others without hurting yourslef, being a healthy amount of selfish and etc ❤️ i cant get enough. she even set up a blind date for kurumi can you imagine how far we've come??? now for when eiji appears i was just observing in the beginnig but i love his personality so much it feels like he was gonna be a classic romance mc just rude and insufferable or a stuffy/overbearing kind of nice but his moments of vulnerability and unpredicatability are GENIUS bc kurumi has never met someone like this before (she gets so flustered and is so cute when shes around him sometimes

i feel like crying aww). oimg and i cant forget how interesting this is just becasue its a college setting and not highschool so its more (i hate reusing words 💢 but mature is the word and theres more oppurtunity for things and various situations i think. 'real' dates and staying over at each other's place... and i want to see them in those^ types of situations so badly but i dont think we'll see much 💔). also their dynamic is everything i love how unique their character is and shes (the author) definitely put a lot of effort into every single one of her characters but i did not expect her to give eiji that much depth (i know hes from one of her other works and i need to read it soon and i want to know what happened before he met her so bad 😭.....) ^like at all. i dont have much more to say but i hope kazehaya shows up and meets them all again bc im want their reactions, and i think kurumi is so adorable and eiji is the hottest guy of the series excluding sanada. the end 💗

OPEN HEART : SECOND YEAR CHAPTER 7

Wow! What a chapter. I feel like there was so much that happened in this chapter I don’t even know where to start. Just so you know the only diamond scene I bought was the one with Ethan so if anyone bought any of the others make sure to explain what happened/your opinion about it! Let’s start with the patient.

I love love LOVED the storyline including the girl that woke up after 13 years in a coma. I did not expect that to happen at all! I think that the storyline about her overdosing on drugs due to the stress of exams/school is a very challenging topic that I believe isn’t talked about enough. I think that choices developed the storyline just enough were it educated people on the damage of overdosing but also making sure it didn’t go into too much detail were people would feel uncomfortable reading it. I like that they also included Stephanie’s parents into the storyline as that doesn’t really happen a lot in Open Heart and it created a different dynamic to the character of Stephanie. As I’ve mentioned in my previous posts I really enjoy when Open Heart focuses abit more on the doctor aspect as I feel towards the end of OH1 it was more drama based, so I liked that in each book so far they’ve had at least 1 patient that the diagnostics team have studied and cured as this makes OH stand out from any other books on the choices app.

I picked the option to talk to Stephanie about smartphones. And I thought that scene was ADORABLE! I think the Open Heart MC is one of the best on the choices app, they are the perfect mix between badass but caring. I love that she (my character is female) treats every patient as a friend and makes them feel comfortable. And I like that June was more involved in this chapter as I feel like we haven’t really had much of a chance to talk with her on a friendship level and with this chapter it really explored more of the friendship between MC and Hirata. Obviously this backfired a little at the end but we will get into that one.

I ADORED the bit when we got to the apartment and Aurora and Sienna were making scones. It’s weird to think that we hated Aurora in the last book. They really did her character dirty during book 1. She fits so well into our friendship group. A lot better than What’s his face did anyway. To be honest the scenes with our friends are some of my favourite like I just think the relationship between MC and her friends is goals to be honest. I feel like Siennas Intern is a dick. Pardon my language but honestly, throughout the book so far Whenever we bring up our interns or anything to do with the hospital with Sienna she seems to be really upset and then pretends that everything is ok. I really hope we get to see what is actually happening between Sienna and her intern. I think it might be something to do with her intern not seeing her as an authority figure as she’s quite a young and ditsy person. Frankly I don’t care as long as he stops upsetting sienna. She’s so cute 🥺.

I like that our feud with Declan has now changed to a feud between Jackie and Declan. I was honestly scared that she was doing something really dodgy with the labs especially since she’s having money issues. I’m just glad she’s not going to leave to go to some other hospital or get her medical licence revoked.

When Hirata said she knew MC and Ethan had history. I nearly had a heart attack. Did he tell her!? If he did that is the cutest thing ever. But if he didn’t then did Naveen tell her, we all know that Naveen wants MC and Ethan together more than any of us Ethan Stans. I just want to know how she knows. Also we don’t use the past tense when talking about MC and Ethan’s relationship. Not so much History but Ongoing romance. To be honest she came across as quite intrusive and manipulative but I don’t want to judge her character too quickly!

Whenever Ethan’s mother comes up you can literally see how upset he is about it. It actually breaks my heart, i just want him to be happy 😔. The fact that we persuaded him to not so much go and see her but try and get some answers at least. Obviously I chose the option to go with him for obvious reasons.

When he said he might not recognise her my heart literally shattered. I don’t know why but that line was so so upsetting. The fact that he was scared he wouldn’t recognise her. I think the storyline between Ethan and his mum is quite a sensitive storyline and something that happens to a lot of people and I think it’s really nice that @playchoices aren’t too scared to go into depth with storylines like this. It really shows people of all ages can have bad relationships with their parents for whatever reasons.

When he got so happy when thinking about his mum and dad being happy together, it was so nice to see him have happy memories from when his parents were together. You can tell that he does love her but just can’t find it within himself to actually forgive her. And that’s where MC comes to the rescue. Hopefully, we get to see Ethan and his mother’s relationship develop abit more (which I’m sure we will do) as soon as he’s willing to actually speak to her face-to-face.

Can we just talk about how spot on they got Ethan’s parents. They 👏🏻 really 👏🏻 did 👏🏻 that. You can actually tell that he’s related to them which is a very very good thing compared to some other books.

And then. Ethan Jonah Ramsey held our hand ALL THE WAY back to Edenbrook. And people say romance is dead. I loveee that he always goes to MC for support like it’s just a habit now. @playchoices are literally doing the best job at making Ethan and MCs relationship seem more emotional and not just physical and although I love that, I do just want a 30 diamond scene in his office, on his desk. Is that too much to ask for.

But of course all good things must come to an end. Especially when Stephanie took our advice completely wrong and decided to hop in her wheelchair and pop off to Mass Kenmore. What is with peoples infatuation with that damn hospital. Do they not know that Edenbrook has the BEST doctors. And the best name. What kind of name is Mass Kenmore. I liked Stephanie’s character and I’m so annoyed that she left. But also what happened with the money from the guy in the last chapter. Did they just forget about that. Like we won the competition which means we won the money right?! Maybe I’m confused but I could have sworn that he was meant to pay the hospital. Anywayssss..

This chapter really was one of the best. I feel like I say that all the time but it was jam packed with information. And plenty of diamond scenes. Like I said I only got one so I could only really talk about the one with Ethan so if anyone would like to Explain what happened in the others that would be truly appreciated. I would like to give a special mention to Bryce stans as he didn’t seem to make an appearance well not when I played it anyway, so just know we are thinking about you 🙌🏽. For anyone that celebrates Easter I hope you have/ are having a good Easter weekend and if not I hope you are having a good weekend. I hope everyone is well and staying safe 💛

Good evening, anon-san, sorry it took me this long to answer You had interesting and quite broad questions but first things first: I’m happy to hear you enjoyed my fic so much, and thank you very much for letting me know! I was actually entertaining some tentative ideas for a sequel today while procrastinating. But you know, not that I will ever write it.

“What's your opinion on He tian and Jian Yi friendship from the start till now?”

Tl;dr: I was pretty annoyed by He Tian at first when he was trying to get close to Jian Yi but these days I quite like their friendship. I especially enjoy those little heart-to-hearts they have sometimes.

You gave me quite a long timeline, and I had to go all the way back to chapter 60 when HT was apparently featured for the first time:

That panel doesn’t give us a lot to go on, and I’m sure most of us didn’t even pay that much mind to the random black-haired guy. I know I didn’t. But in retrospect, it could be interesting to wonder if OX’s intention was to make a fleshed-out character out of that random black-haired kid at that point already.

After his first appearance, it takes about 40 chapters before we see HT again (ch. 102):

This time their interaction seems different, like it has more meaning and HT is not just a random passer-by teasing him a bit. JY is upset and conflicted after giving ZZX the confession letter entrusted to him by Xiao Hui. He doesn’t tell HT what’s wrong but he’s obviously down, and HT seems to attempt to lighten the mood, perhaps even comfort him a bit. It’s hard to say how serious he’s being. What’s interesting is that he’s again patting JY’s head, but this time it doesn’t have the same teasing vibe.

After that chapter HT started to pop up more often and increasingly annoy me. Before long, I was fully in the “okay, buddy, you need to go be somewhere else” mood. Whenever he spotted JY’s mop of blond hair in the crowd he annoyingly stuck to him and draped his arm around his shoulders like they were the bestests friends.

What annoyed me the most, though, was that it was hard to say why he was acting so buddy buddy. One thing that struck me about their friendship from the beginning was that it seemed rather one-sided. It was HT who seemed to initiate hanging out and being turned down time after time. I didn’t know much of anything about HT, so at first, it all came across as him being romantically interested in JY. And I couldn’t have hated anything else more. I was fully invested in Zhanyi and worried the already slow pace was going to be hindered by some cliched love triangle. The only thing I was happy about was that JY didn’t have any interest whatsoever in HT.

For quite a long time, I didn’t really question or go back to the idea of HT being interested in JY in a romantic sense. I just thought his interest shifted to MGS. Now, after learning about HT’s past, goals and priorities, those early chapters tell a different story to me. 

Rather than being in love with JY, I think HT sought him out for two reasons.

First of all, we all know this kid is so lonely it hurts to watch but making genuine friends isn’t a simple matter in his situation. I already talked about this in one of my earlier posts, but the bottom line is, HT isn’t like his classmates. He was born and raised in a vastly different world but can’t tell anyone about it.

It’s almost like he’s living a double life. In front of his classmates and fangirls, he appears easy-going, cool, and carefree, but in the shadows, he looks much more intimidating and colder. Both of those sides are a part of him, but no one knows about his dark, shadow side. Not only that, but HT himself wants to get rid of his other side and deny it. If anyone learned about it, he’d risk putting them in harm’s way but at the same time, he craves the “normal”; acting his age. If he was being careful, maybe he could try and have friends even if he couldn’t show them all of himself.

However, I think HT also had another objective to get close to JY. I think he knows more about JY’s family than JY himself and was low key keeping an eye on him. I’m sure the surname “Jian” means something to him if She Li can recognize it as well (ch. 117):

It’s unclear to us how much he knows about He Cheng’s business with Mr. Jian, but I’m sure he’s guessed by now that dirty underworld wants something to do with one of his friends. He seemed to be in the know enough to rush over when HC was trying to get JY for the first time (ch. 166) and later warned his brother to not “get any ideas” (ch. 229). He’s probably pieced together that they’re trying to get to JY but since there’s nothing much he can do to stop that he’s just going to have to follow him. It’s still better than to let him get pulled into the lion’s nest alone. If that means he has to go all the way to the doorsteps of his own family, then so be it.

What I probably love the most about HT and JY’s friendship are those little heart-to-hearts they started having. The borderline philosophical nature of them reveals interesting new sides to HT’s character especially. I think JY was the first one who formed a deeper connection with HT and is still the only one who ponders those kinds of life-sized questions with him.

Chapter 133 is my favorite chapter about the deeper side of their friendship. Earlier JY had asked HT what people are living for, and HT’s half-serious answer was “probably so that they can do the things they want~”. He hadn’t meant it to actually stick with JY, not to mention prepared for JY to get back to the topic and ask something seemingly simple but rather personal from him later on (ch. 133):

Not only do I think that no one had seriously asked HT that before but that question also invited HT to open up. Though, all JY got out of him was:

Even in all its vagueness, it was the first time HT had implied being from a different world to someone who’s not a part of it, at least not knowingly. And that’s a quite sad line if you think about it. The things HT wanted to do in life were no doubt vastly different from JY and most kids of his age. He didn’t want to grow up to a man who would hurt others for a living. He wanted to belong in the world of JY and ZZX. He wanted to protect his friends. He wanted to do good and rid himself of his past that way. He wanted his brother to want to be like him, too. He wanted the puppy and wake up one morning to a normal family and life and it’s all been just a long nightmare. 

All of that remains unspoken and is replaced by silence, instead. HT just pats JY’s head while they stand in the rain and tells him to go to ZZX already; he hadn’t skipped just to sit around with HT, after all. JY wants to go but is also a bit worried about leaving HT like that. When he asks, “what about you?”, HT goes back to teasing him. Before leaving, though, JY gives him a little side-smile that warms my heart. That smile somehow has an understanding undertone to it, and he’s cursing HT almost affectionally.

They had a moment, and no one can convince me otherwise. It was as if JY got a feeling that maybe there was more to HT than what appeared.

And that’s how I see them now; JY was probably the first and closest thing HT could call a friend and it’s become more than just looking after him for HT. JY’s genuine, curious, and obliviously frank nature brings out certain kind of depth and platonic, big brother kind of affection in HT. It also seems JY was the first person to be cool with HT’s “dark” side and not think any less of him.

“And Mo and Zhang friendship from start till now?”

Tl;dr: They’re a bit odd together but I really like their little bonding moments. They’re weirdly similar but in different ways. Mo Guan Shan definitely needs and deserves a level-headed and no-bullshit friend like Zhan Zheng Xi.

This friendship certainly had a rough start (ch. 126):

There’s one thing I’ve always wondered about that fight: Was ZZX actually getting the upper hand? I’m hesitant to say ZZX is a better fighter than MGS, but he still seemed stronger. Did MGS also notice he was about to lose (in front of his posse, no less) and picked up the rock which was somewhat of a dirty move? Did ZZX get strength and courage from the need to protect JY? You know, when you think about something that matters to you and get a mental/physical boost to your drive that takes even you by surprise a little? He didn’t have a delinquent reputation like MGS had but if he lost this fight JY could be in trouble and he had vowed to protect him since they were little kids.

Well, either way, I was surprised how easily ZZX let the thing go when he and MGS came face to face again. He suggested an act of revenge but was actually the only one who wasn’t serious about twisting MGS’s balls in the end. Not only that but he seemed to even think MGS wasn’t that evil (ch. 150):

If I had been ZZX, I’m not sure I would’ve wanted to have anything to do with MGS after that. It’s still a bit unclear to me why ZZX suddenly thought like that, but maybe that’s just how his mind works. He doesn’t dwell or hold grudges, perhaps he finds that even a little childish.

He certainly started to consider MGS his friend and wanted to genuinely help him when the whole She Li situation unraveled and was frustrated when it looked like they couldn’t do anything (ch. 184):

Overall, compared to HT and JY, ZZX was a different kind of friend for MGS. HT would raise hell and go up against anyone who dared to mess with him. JY didn’t lack enthusiasm and oblivious courage to stand up for him and loudly demand justice. To both of them, MGS reacted with varying degrees of annoyance.

ZZX, on the other hand, was silent, calm and mature. He doesn’t talk bad about people behind their backs and when he’s done with something, he’s done with it. He’s in touch with himself and grounded. But it seems MGS wasn’t used to having people like that around. The way ZZX wasn’t bothered by being alone with him made him uncomfortable (ch. 248):

MGS is always half-expecting people to negatively react to him somehow; avoid making eye contact, look down on him, and whisper behind his back. When ZZX just stands there in silence and faces him head-on it bothers MGS. He feels awkward because he never apologized for the fight and bashing ZZX in the head. Pulling stuff like that in the heat of the moment could have had serious. long-lasting consequences. He seems to be ready for ZZX to bring it up and hold it over his head, and he’d have the right to do so, too. But it doesn’t look like ZZX is expecting an apology, either. As far as he goes, the matter is over and done with.

Interestingly MGS and ZZX are quite similar deep down but in a different way as weird as that might sound. They’re both very responsible; MGS has had to work and take care of the house from a very young age to support his mother. ZZX is very close with his little sister, he’s always taken care of her and learned the responsibility that way. They both have tsundere characteristics; Others being touchy-feely with them might earn them curses and a couple of punches, but they’re good at taking care of others. ZZX can be quick to lose his temper with JY but also quite tender and reassuring and surprisingly comfortable showing affection. MGS takes a certain kind of pride in cooking for his friends and can’t quite hide his concern for HT if he’s bleeding or having a nightmare. His help is always very practical.

What I love the most about ZZX and MGS’s friendship is that they kind of join forces being the only responsible voices of reason of the bunch. As a huge fan of my precious MGS, watching them bond over cooking warms my heart so much (ch. 289):

I’m so happy MGS has gained such a strong and loyal friend as ZZX. I’m really interested in seeing more of them together.

Favorite Critical Role moments and characters so far? I always like hearing opinions from other fans earlier on in the story - though of course, I don't expect you to answer if you don't want to :)

nonono i loveee questions! if i ever don’t respond to one assume it got lost or I saw it, got excited, meant to answer and then forgot and then got embarrassed by how long it’s been.

OK, SPOILERS ABOUND BELOW THE CUT.

as of now (at the start of episode 52!), my favorites:

characters are super hard…. everyone has moments where they realllly shine, and there isn’t anyone I don’t love. I think that Percy and Vex have both become favorites of mine recently. I’m sort of in love with Vex’s general attitude. She’s a rational and businesslike person most of the time, but then can also be a ray of pure joy and wonder. There’s a really sweet dynamic between her and Vax where she’s often trying to cheer him up when he’s in one of his sad moods, and the love between them is so beautiful and definitely one of my favorite parts of the show, and one of the better sibling dynamics in literally anything i’ve ever watched. Vex also has a great character flaw in her general greed and lust for cool flying items- that’s led to a lot of great moments in the show.

Speaking of character flaw, Percy started to intrigue me around episode 20 when the Briarwood’s name popped up, and has only gotten better. He starts out sort of meek, and has gone through a bunch of character shifts in response to the events of the campaign. Taliesen plays Percy so loveably, IMO, that it makes a character who could easily be just the dark n’ edgy guy with the anime backstory into a really interesting and likeable guy. I like that he’s also terrible, in a way- he can be a little too eager for material wealth and magic items as well, he gave Grog a dangerous magic item just to make it not his problem, he has this “ends justify the means” mentality that sometimes scares his friends a little, but at the end of the day they’re all friends and they do love him and he loves them. I’ve loved what’s happened since the Sunken Tomb, in that he used to make Vex cool presents all the time (and it was just taken as given that he would be making things for her), and now his guilt is manifesting in him spending lots of time worrying about Vex, trying to make her happy (while also serving the group, multi-purpose guilt tinkering here!) by making a broom saddle, etc. 

 I also love Grog, and am so happy that he’s getting a chance to talk and lead right now, since Travis does a great job of playing him. He’s the most morally grey of the group in that he genuinely enjoys smashing people to shit, but he also has an endearingly soft streak in the way that he deals with Pike, and to a lesser degree, the rest of his friends. He’s also just plain funny- he does a lot to lift the mood in tense situations just being himself, and i’m incredibly grateful for that.

As much as I would, I can’t just name the whole group so I wanna just leave it at Percy, Vex and Grog. But I suck so... Honorable mention to Vax because I can’t stop myself. First of all, bisexual character with a lot of feelings, obviously appealing to me. His genuine depth of emotion in every situation is admirable to me. He cares about all of his friends, and feels especially deeply about Keyleth and Gilmore. Don’t even get me started on Vex. The level of “I’d lay down my life for you” he has for his sister is kind of unhealthy, but you know he couldn’t live without her, and it gets to me as someone who has a sister they love a lot. It’s totally understandable that he’d be that way. Also, Liam plays the emotion ALWAYS and it’s a joy to see him act.

For moments, i’m for sure forgetting some, but i’ll rattle off what comes to mind:

-The aftermath of the Sunken Tomb, when Vex is walking around all happy-go-lucky and the rest of them are treating her like a child with a terminal illness. They all feel so terrible after the whole ordeal, are making nice gestures and apologizing for things they said and giving her random stuff, and she’s just like “I don’t even remember any of that! I feel fine!” I loved the succession of Vax giving Percy a serious talking to, Keyleth scrying Westrun, Vex leaving Keyleth crying in the inn, and the mood whiplash-tastic cut to Scanlan playing harmonica outside an outhouse while Grog talks to his cursed sword inside. 

-The night watch scenes before the sunken tomb, all of them.

-The scene in episode 50 where the group tries to convince Grog to get rid of Craven edge, and Pike’s opinion is really all that matters to him.

-Scanlan’s mansion.

-Vex inviting herself to help Percy tinker with the broom, and his turnaround from “You don’t have to do this, it might be faster if I do it alone.” to semi-awkwardly “That was actually really productive, you’re a fast learner and we should… do this again sometime?”

-Literally any time Vax or Vex are hurt badly, and the other goes all “mama bear” to get them out of danger.

-Both trips to Victor, the black powder merchant. Especially the exchange between Percy and Vex “Vex? 250 gold, if you’d be so kind!” “That much??” “I’m going to make you something lovely.” “I love you!” 

-When they find Gilmore in the bunker under the ruins of his store.

-Vax and Gilmore’s conversation about feelings in the bar after the group returns from Whitestone.

-Kaylie confronting Scanlan in his room.

-The destruction of Pepperbox, from the second Scanlan casts “friends” on Percy.

-All conversations with Craven Edge.

-Lady Kima joining up with the group before the sunken tomb by telling that other paladin to “Back off, this is my turf!”

-EVERYTHING involving Zahra and Kash.

-Vax’s sneak-gone-wrong into the Briarwoods’ room at Uriel’s home.

-Keyleth and Percy’s friendship conversation in the cave outside Whitestone.

-When the party first meets Clarota, and Scanlan sings “Clarota healing”

Fav Skam character? I love allllll of themmm so much but if I really absolutely had to choose one, Isak, because I relate the most to him and he is my Norwegian child

When did you start watching Skam? Right on the day the iconic bed scene was released, I was browsing the depths of tumblr, on a blog I don’t even follow and can’t even remember the name of now, I saw the gifs of the Softest™. That’s also right before all the subs were taken away and that YouTube channel got shut down for uploading subbed Evak scenes and everyone was freaking out cos now there’s no way to understand what’s going on. RIP me those were good times.

When did you make your blog? Umm sometime in Sept 2016, I think? I created this blog to reblog 1d gifs n stuff but now I’m 98% a skam blog, I’m still clutching on to my username resisting to change it.

Who are you cheering for to be s4′s main? I’m rooting for Even just because we’ve haven’t had a chance to delve much into his character and also henrik deserves an entire season to showcase his acting abilities

Who do you think is most likely to be s4′s main? Sana. Because she’s part of the core group and also I think Julie does want to tackle Sana’s perspective of straddling what’s sort of a cultural divide. It would be highly interesting for sure.

What are your main interests? I’ve just started bullet journaling this year and I’m really liking it a lot so far. I also loveee listening to music and going to live gigs. And I also read a lot. And I love watching movies and TV shows.

Something you’re always up to discuss? I’m a sucker for skam metas, and also tag commentary. Character study, film making, metas etc are my jam. I also like to yell about fluff and memes so my blog is a good mix of both serious stuff and fluffy stuff. I also like using the messaging feature a lot, so I’m always up for messaging people and talking. You can basically come talk to me about anything, even non skam related stuff.

Something you refuse to discuss? Speculation of the actors’ private lives.

Other favorite shows aside from Skam? Ahhh, my favourite show of all time is The Office. Currently I haven’t been watching much TV but I highly recommend watching this Australian show “Please Like Me” if you’re into Skam, you might like this show too. It’s well written, funny, gay, very gay, did I mention gay, touched on mental illness, realistic and poignant. And also, unlike skam, be prepared to get your heart broken a little bit because it’s very realistic in portrayals of adult relationships and heartbreaks. But watch it please, this show deserves more recognition, s1 to s3 is on Netflix. Other shows that I love currently, Crazy Ex GF, Atlanta, Stranger Things.

hi!!!! harry is probably my fav! same as draco tbh, he had way more depth in the books and we all know post-series he’s become the person he was never really allowed to be when he was a child. i loveeeeeee the fanon verse tbh, e.g. blaise and pansy and draco, and also ginny, neville and luna as their own squads. 

i do have different ones i think! i loveeeee book!ginny with all my heart, but in the films i couldn’t care less. i love book!draco, in the films he’s just extra annoying. harry is always my fav anywhere but book harry is so much more intriguing. i like film dumbledore more than book!dumbledore bc in the books........ im very conflicted bc he manipulated harry so so so so much, a lot of things we never got to see in the films, and im very bitter abt that. i really like book!snape tbh or should i say, fanfic!snape haha. i loveee madam pomfrey and remus and mcgonagall so i love when they’re heavily involved in fics. basically i love harry potter fics bc people include all the minor characters we barely ever get to see. i also love the gryffindor boys, neville, dean, seamus, ron! i also love reading stuff with narcissa.

ok so now minor characters who get to shine in fics? dean and seamus, padma and parvati, hannah abbott, theo nott, millicent, ernie, anthony, terry, tracy, susan bones, etc ... ok so i kinda love everyone. except theres always a few meanies but i forgot. i love jkr’s universe but omg do fic writers go full out and make me love people who have only had one line or so in the books ahahah.

ok and its safe to say i hate bellatrix and voldy and,,,, 50/50 on dumbledore
