I’m a sucker for y e a r n i n g. I’m currently writing a long, slow burn BNHA fic which covers the events of like?? 40 years? and I’m about 12-13 chapters in and having so much fun with the little details, like accidental hand touching and misunderstandings. 

fake dating or and secretly dating

Fake dating is great for comedy potential. Secretly dating makes for god tier fluff. I like them both!

enemies to lovers or best friends to lovers

I just really love slow burn and yearning

“oh no, there’s only one bed,” or and long-distance correspondence

Tbh neither of these are really my jam, but I can’t choose one over the other

hurt/comfort or amnesia

This won’t come as a shock to anyone who’s read any of my fics 

fantasy au or and modern au

mutual pining or and domestic bliss

What is better than mutual pining followed by domestic bliss?

I thought long and hard about this and I chose future fic because I like the timeskip happy ending trope

There are some stories that simply don’t need multiple chapters. There are also some that need expanding for the full payoff. I have no preference.

kid fic or roadtrip fic

I’ve always thought of road trips as a really American thing and don’t relate to them enough to enjoy the trope.

consider: both together. Maximum angst. Maximum yearning

arranged marriage or accidental marriage

Arranged marriage just has so much potential to bleed into other tropes. Also I love historical fiction irl, which tends to use it quite a lot

high school romance or middle-aged romance

I’m not American! I never experienced the kind of high school life that high school romance draws on. 

time travel or isolated together

Time travel is one of my favourite tropes e v e r. As I’ve said, I love historical fiction irl, but I also love the idea of interfering in fate, like The Butterly Effect and Groundhog day.

neighbours or roommates

Not American, don’t relate to roommates 

sci-fi au or and magic au

b o t h - science and magic overlap

bodyswap or genderbend

body swap has way more potential for comedy, like people trying to be convincing as the other person and exaggerating their mannerisms.

angst or crack

I think one of the most powerful things you can do as a writer is have a direct impact on a reader’s emotions. I love stories that make me cry and love throwing my fics into the abyss and drowning in reader tears.
