this is may be a strange comparison, but in terms of their position(s) in the narrative, Noelle is a lot like Sans and/or Papyrus in that she's an initially extremely unassuming & affable character who is actually intimately connected to some of the strangest, most disconcerting mysteries in the entire game. (more specifically, their being closely connected with Gaster without going crazy like the secret bosses have).
