cuddles: always a bold one, he definitely initiated the first kiss. it's a quick, but incredibly passionate thing.

giggles: i could see this going either way! i think she's very fond of the classic experience of being romanced, so she'd be inclined to let her partner take the lead, but i could also see her getting impatient and doing it herself if her partner was on the shyer side.

toothy: the last thing he wants is to accidentally make his s/o feel pressured into anything, so he let's them initiate the first kiss. after that first one, though, he can't get enough, and will kiss them any time he gets the chance.

petunia: i don't think she's particularly fond of kissing in general, and i think that first kiss especially would HAVE to be on her terms. she initiates when she's good and ready, which takes a fair amount of time.

handy: this one's tricky, because i feel like it would depend a lot on what kind of personality his s/o has. he's more inclined to initiate the first kiss, but he definitely wouldn't be opposed to letting his partner take the lead if it seems like that's what they want

nutty: 100% gets excited and kisses first. he's just so happy to have someone so amazing in his life, and he gets swept up in the feeling!

sniffles: he tries. ohh he tries! but in the end, he gets too nervous to actually go through with it. luckily, he's not at all subtle about how much he wants to kiss his s/o, so they can take the lead pretty easily <3

pop: i think he would want to take things slowly if he got into another relationship after losing his wife, and he'd make that clear from the get go. the first kiss would be on his terms, for his sake more than anything.

flaky: you'd think they would have to be kissed first, but i think they'd surprise themself with their own bravery! i imagine that it would be at the end of a date, and when them and their s/o are just about to part ways, they blurt out "can i kiss you??" and even though they immediately get flustered, they double down, and once they get a yes, they lean in for a quick, sweet kiss.

mole: he's always got the sweater on, so he's the one to initiate the first kiss just for practical reasons. it would be short, but heartfelt all the same.

disco bear: you would think he'd be in a rush to kiss his partner, and for a casual fling he would be, but if it was someone he actually cared about and wanted to stay with long term, i think he would find himself at a loss for what to do with that feeling. he would talk himself out of it over and over because "the moment isn't right", and eventually, his s/o would have to take the lead themself.

russell: he kisses first, and like a classic gentleman, it's a kiss goodnight at the end of a date <3

lifty: he kisses first, and it's something he does without even thinking about it. he's leaving to go get groceries or go rob someone or something, and he leans in for a surprisingly chaste kiss, and doesn't even realize that that was the first time he kissed them until he's halfway to where he's going. it's not a grand moment, but there's something romantic about how easy it is.

shifty: he initiates the first kiss, on impulse. him and his partner are having a silly little moment together, laughing and smiling, and he's suddenly just overwhelmed with this rush of affection, and he leans in to kiss them before he even knows what he's doing. he's pretty embarrassed about it afterwards, but if he said he regretted it he'd be a damn dirty liar

mime: he would kiss first, but he worries about whether his partner would be bothered by getting his face paint all over their face in the process. eventually, they have to take the lead and show him they're not afraid to get a little messy

flippy: he's another one who could go either way depending on whether he thinks his partner wants him to take the lead or not. he would be happy either way!

lammy: at her core, lammy wants to be romanced. she would drop her fair share of increasingly unsubtle hints until her partner got the point and kissed her <3

splendid: he kisses first, and i can only imagine it's after him and his partner get in an argument about him caring more about his job than them. needless to say, there's no doubts about how much he cares after that.

splendont: he kisses first, after a dicey situation where his partner was in no small amount of danger and needed to be rescued. it makes him realize how much they mean to him, and that life is too short to keep that kind of thing on the down low. he kisses them the moment they're safe, and also every chance he gets after that

When it comes to writing HTF, I haven't covered how canon deaths are in my fics.

Sometimes I've explained it as a death loop, sometimes I've explained it as a dream.

For this fic, I may call it both.

Your whole life is a death loop, every demise feeling like a twisted nightmare.

But at the same time... the blood and pain is quite real.

When it comes to Flippy/Fliqpy, I have a feeling many of your deaths are actually at his paws.

In the death loop you often fall victim to many things.

All painful accidents you fall victim to until the next day...

Which then makes you do it all over again.

If Flippy is sensitive to these death loops and remembers all of your deaths... safe to say he doesn't handle it well, no.

Even less if he realizes he's been the reason for your downfall a few times as Fliqpy.

Each time he finds your corpse, it makes the green bear snap a bit more.

Flippy, let's be honest, has seen his fair share of blood.

That's why Fliqpy exists.

But nothing prepares him to see the death of his friend/crush/lover over and over again.

When his comrades died before, they stayed dead.

They were never brought back, they were never killed over and over.

No, instead Flippy gets to watch the one he cares the most for die continuously.

Sometimes even by him.

It would be interesting to think of Flippy trying his best to prevent the loop.

He sticks close to you, he stays away from you, he keeps an eye on you, he locks you away...

Nothing he does works.

The thing that would make his obsession worse is the fact he's going mad trying to prevent it.

Which may make Fliqpy worse... which hurts you more... then there's a feedback loop...

As you can tell this is a horrible scenario for him.

It hurts him that he can't even have you.

Whenever he tries to get close, he risks bad things happening to both of you like some sort of Murphy's Law concept.

Flippy isn't sure what to do.

He'd even try previous methods over again just for some sort of difference.

He tries never leaving your side, only to feel your blood on his fur after some black out.

He tries staying away to watch from a distance, only for some other threat to obliterate you into a red mist.

He even tries locking you away with him, only for you to die some way again in some horrific accident.

Perhaps there was even a loop where he swapped to Fliqpy and attacked everyone in sight.

He'd cover himself in blood, he'd hold himself back from hurting you, he'd sacrifice everyone just to see you live.

Only for you to die again, leaving him to rock back and forth in his home as he loses it.

In this concept, there's nothing he can really do.

No matter if he kills those around you, or even you to spare you...

It's futile.

He's obsessed more with the idea of saving you than anything.

He cares for you... loves you... adores you...

Yet he can only hope you don't remember each loop.

That each day... It's done quickly... Just another bad dream.

On the days where the loop pauses momentarily for some respite... Flippy doesn't leave your side.

If he had things his way, he'd lock you in a bunker with him...

A bunker that's quiet and safe... just you and him...

Flippy cherishes the time the loop doesn't pick you off, but his anxiety tends to linger.

Soon... you'll die again...

He's forced to watch, his psyche withering away each time...

All while he hopes it really IS just a bad dream he'll wake from one day... and you two are together forever with nothing to hurt you in the waking world.

when Flippy first met you, he saw how bubbly you were, kind of air-headed, always hapoy about something. It was nice to see someone like that since most of the people he met hid behind a façade, they were either deeply terrified or would wrap around your throat like a snake, but it turns out, you were actually pleasent to be around.

first of all, you decided to hide this problem away from him, keeping it in a locked caged, making sure it didn't escape, but, just like how you bottle up everything, it all starts to bubble up and explode.

the first time Flippy saw you like that, it was Flippy at all. It was Flipqy.

needless to say, it was very surprising to see you so violently angry, it was like a different person was controling you.

you acted almost exactly like how Flipqy does, although, his was a trauma response and yours was probably for a different reason. You did just as much damage as him when you switch.

when he saw you act this way, it just encouraged him to be even more violent. In no time, blood and guts were flying everywhere, blood-curdling screams from your friens and crying could be heard from miles away.

everything kind of blanked after that.

keep in mind, Flippy doesn't know, only his alter-ego does. So when you tried to apologize from how you acted that day, he was confused, horrified, a little appalled, but he was just a whirlwind of emotions.

you guys had a huge talk that day.

it was kind of funny how you turn back to a silly goober and waddle away from the corpse you just killed.

you were so adorable too, anyone could've had their guard down around you. It's like you were constantly stuck on ':3' you're whole life,,,

one time, when you were basically destroying everything in your path, the minute you saw Flippy, you stopped what you were doing and hopped your way to him. Very weird,,, but he loves you so it's okay, in his words,, "who am I to judge anyways ?"

but yeah, he makes sure he's around you in public so no more people have to be tortured endlessly by you,, and so you can calm him down when he has another PTSD episode! So it's basically a win-win.

most of your time is spent with Flippy cause of how paranoid he can get from you being out in public alone.

Flipqy is still kind of wary around you, but since you treat Flippy right and he trusts you with all his life, he eventually learns to trust you.

you'd probably almost go to jail or a psychiatric hospital multiple times.

With me being in therapy now, a lot has come up. OCD, PTSD, severe depression, my severe anxiety turned to GAD and now? Age regression.

Anyway, yeah this is a Bob's Burgers quote but it's basically how the news went when I told my dad. His words were "Oh, kiddo, I could have told you that." ... So why didn't you? XD

But yeah, I missed the HTF community. I've always loved Happy Tree Friends, so much! I still do! And I want to make sure you HTF fans know I'm not gone. I'm just going through too much right now. But you guys deserve this. Deserve art.

Another thing is I'm going to post just... Whenever. No set schedule or "I'll get this done as soon as possible!!" No, I've been selfless my whole life. From the age of five to... Well, now, at twenty six years old.

She told me my mental state is... I forget the word. Deteriorating? I forgot that I'm a human. And I put others on a pedestal as I stand in those hot coals for them to use me as a step stool.

So I'm going to keep posting. Keep drawing. Get back to writing. But it's time also I become a human.

i had an idea and i wanted to share with you! Sprouty, my HTF sona really likes to make friendships

so i feel like, when he saw Scaredy, he really wanted to come closer to him and- by being super energetic and all he scared Scaredy away

so, i had this headcanon that Sprouty like to prepare tiny little deserts and letters to Scaredy!! letting it on his house's entrance as a way of respect Scaredys bounderies

I think that maybe at first Scaredy being Sacredy he would be sure that Sprouty IS trying to poison him, so he would do ALL the poison testing he knows about with It first and not eat, but with time he noitices that Sprouty is always bringing those deserts, and he started to actually eat those deserts. (With all the poison testing ofc)

Scaredy dosen't know how to say thank you because he is too boastful to say that, he always tries to push people away from him, but in his way to say thanks he cleans the dessert plates and brings It back to Sprouty when he is not home.

Little Lauren discovers Happy Tree Friends (and Fall Out Boy)

Context: Fall Out Boy did a music video crossover with Happy Tree Friends for their song "The Carpal Tunnel of Love." I headcanon Lauren as a fan of HTF (because come on, of course she would be), and when I remembered the music video released in 2012 when the reboot cast would have been around 4-5, I knew I had to draw this. I used DramaRama Gwen as the template for little Lauren, adding a few features from her canon self and my own touches like the hair color.

Bonus fun fact: Fall Out Boy appear in the video with HTF-sonas, which naturally get brutally killed off midway through. Since this is the only time they ever appear in the series, they're listed as "confirmed dead" in the HTF Wiki.

Munseong is a pretty cool and reserved guy, and that shows with his texting habits

He keeps it short and to the point, not a lot of emojis and everything comes across a little deadpan with his replies.

However, he is extremely fast respond back to you and usually within the minute... even if it doesn't warrant a response he'll at least send back a 😄 Sweet boy doesn't want to leave you hanging!

And if he's late to text back (by his standards), he'll always apologise even though you've explained a million times it's fine and you know he's doing his own thing.

Don't expect any memes, or him to react with anything apart from confusion. But you can always expect a good morning or good night.

Whenever he's feeling a bit down, he will read over your old messages and imagine your smile and your face lighting up on the other side.

...Or just call you to hear your voice.

Yeonwoo always makes time for texting you even with his hectic study schedule.

Thinks of it as a little treat, something to look forward to after frying his brain for the last couple hours.

He's always a bit contrite for his late replies too but it doesn't deter you with your double, triple, quadruple+ texting. It brightens his day seeing your name pop up on his phone, even if there are 10+ messages waiting.

Once his study schedule chills out and he makes more time for Kyokushin, he also makes more time for you!

Anything that pops into his head that he thinks you'll like, or that he thinks of saying, he'll just come right out with it.

More often than not it's a cute cat/dog meme or silly fluffy pics.

Occasionally it'll be blurred selfies of him during training. Just a lil hi and a way to say he's thinking of you.

Ah, another pretty reserved one.

Wangguk uses emojis more than you would expect, and is pretty cute with them to be honest. Adds them to provide a bit more context and depth with his responses because he knows how dry he can sound 🥺

Keeps his messages pretty short unless there's something that he is passionate about then he'll just ramble and send a full on essay. Punctuated with another follow up message to say sorry. It's pretty goddamn cute tbh.

Sends you a LOT of pictures. Innocent ones that is. Pictures tell a thousand words and he loves his photography.

Pics to say good morning, good night, thinking of you, thought you would like this. Usually Wangguk isn't in them, which makes any selfies even more special.

Also loves when you respond back in kind, sending him snaps of your day and just you.

Surprisingly, or perhaps not, is extremely clued up with memes or anything slightly unhinged thanks to Gyeoul and her sense of humour. Will send on any to you that makes him chuckle.

Listen if Taehoon wants your attention, he'll let you know. That includes messages and calls at 4am just to fuck with you. Especially when he hears your exasperated sigh and groggy voice. Or even an angry reply to "GO TF TO SLEEP!!" It will never not be funny to him. Maybe that's on you for continuing to respond and pick up all the time.

Although he is very good at letting you know where he is, what he's up to. And expects similar from you. It's not that he doesn't trust you, he just wants to know you're safe. A hangover from Dowoon.

& to answer your question, theres a few ships that i do really like! i mostly like whichever feels cute or funny though theres like. one or two i put thought into.

Flippy/Russell: one of the more recent ships ive been thinking about & could potentially be fun to explore !! ive noticed that, in “Get Whale Soon”, russell did lash out at the inside of the whale in a similar fashion to how flippy usually flips out, and i thought, “huh. thats weird. what ever happened to that.” I think that’s pretty interesting! i like the idea of flippy & russell being therapy buddies together and learning about each others’ experiences, interests, hobbies, & especially triggers to avoid or at least learn to cope with. maybe while doing so, they could even get closer together in the process !! i also like the idea of russell being the more outgoing & playful half to flippy’s more reserved and mindful half.

Discopop: another ship ive been getting into lately !! i genuinely didnt hear abt it until recently & i think its cute! its got a lot of comedic potential too me thinks. like i can imagine disco bear trying to impress pop by being a responsible parent to cub in the cheesiest, most obnoxiously 70’a way possible & pop just thinks, “wow. this guys corny. so corny. idk how i love him but im not complaining.” (bonus points for old man yaoi)

Handy/Petunia: a canon ship i really like !! i think the episodes they appear together in are really sweet & i especially appreciate how they come up with creative solutions to their problems in “I Nub You” !! i think theyre very neat !!

Lumpy/Mole: mostly due to the episode “Blind Date”, but more specifically about how lumpy just casually accepts mole’s offer with a shrug & an “ok why not?” i also like the idea of the mole being more romantic & personal while lumpys more casual & chill with him.

Cuddles/Giggles/Toothy: mostly because ive seen people ship cuddles with giggles & toothy separately & thought “cuddles has two hands. why not date both of them” & bam! polycule! (also i think giggles is allowed to have 50 billion boyfriends despite what the fandom consensus about her is /hj /lh /ref)

Sniffles/Nutty: something ive just been thinking abt as ive been writing this!! i find it really sweet that these two already get along very well but i also think it would be funny if sniffles first met nutty & thought, “wow this guy has 1279.85 different things wrong with him. i need to study him under a microscope��� like the curious lil nerdy scientist he is. theyre also very neat to me
