What on earth is a superworm?

It's the larval form of a species of darkling beetle (Zophobas morio). It's pretty commonly used in the reptile hobby (or any animal that eats large-ish insects). They're bigger and meatier than mealworms, so they're preferred for larger reptiles.

But basically they look like Big Mealworms. Aside from their size, they're also distinguished by their dark heads and more noticeable antennae.
