#I hope that's good enough? sjfkjndssjkn
Note
Ok! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't asking another venephobic/hemophobic person to write about venephobia lol.
(sorry if this is too detailed, but mostly what I want is just the last paragraph. I just wanted to provide some context of what s/o might be feeling in that situation. Might also be worth tagging with TWs for veins and blood mentions and blood draws)
So what about UF and HT bros with a really venephobic s/o. Just like- fuckin hates needles, nervous around knives, won't let anybody touch their veins, has to wear long sleeves so they don't see them. (This is somewhat my experience but I believe those are more universal symptoms)
Said venephobic s/o has to go get their blood drawn, insisted on by their doctor. They're terrified- in the past, I've always been having a panic attack while my blood is drawn and I /have/ to have another person in the room for me. That being said, I'm not sure if your boys are hemophobic so that could also cause issue.
But yeah- essentially, s/o is freaking out the night before their blood draw both hungry (cause the don't eat 12 hours before your appointment thing) and terrified, and then maybe a quick bit about what the Skele would do during the appointment?
~ Sincerely, a hoping they weren't too detailed Carpal Tunnel Anon ~
Dude I relate to this so much. I'm TERRIFIED of needles and drawing blood and taking vaccines and,, ugh *shudders*
Anyways,
UF + HT BROS WITH VENEPHOBIC AND S/O
RED (UNDERFELL SANS)
He doesn’t mind! He always tries to make sure you’re comfortable and picks up on your boundaries. If you tell him about your phobia (which he has, by that point, picked up on you having), he’ll be sympathetic about it because he totally gets it.
So, when you’re about to have your blood drawn and feeling miserable because of it, he’ll reassure you as best he can. He would give you comfort food but you can’t eat, and it makes him feel pretty bad.
Will definitely do anything you ask him so long as it won’t ruin the blood test or something. (So long as it’s within reason, obviously. He won’t find a way to bring dinosaurs back into existence even if that’s what you ask for.)
During the appointment, he’s holding your hand and saying anything he can to soothe you. There’s not much to do because you have to do this, and you’ll simply have to push through, but he’s saying anything he can to reassure you and promising that you’ll do something fun after this.
He distracts you as much as possible. Asks you beforehand what he should do to help too, maybe pre-planning like… an entire playlist of youtube videos even though you probably won’t be there for as long as that playlist goes on.
Overall rating: 10/10. Very helpful.
EDGE (UNDERFELL PAPYRUS)
He doesn’t get it. He really doesn’t. He’s been desensitized to a lot of things so he’s a bit confused.
But that’s not to say he’s invalidating your fears! Just because he doesn’t get it, that doesn’t mean he thinks it’s weird or “wrong”. He awkwardly reassures you that it’s fine and normal and will do his best to accomodate to your needs.
When you’re freaking out about the appointment, he is doing his best to soothe you. He’s, again, very awkward about it because how do you handle feelings???????
He’s done research and all that on how to help with panic attacks, anxiety attacks, anything and everything to do with how to handle your phobias, because he loves you a lot. Normally, to anyone else, he’ll usually say something along the lines of “YOU NEED TO TOUGHEN UP!” but that doesn’t feel right in this situation. Not to mention, you’re already tough! Maybe you just don’t have to be tough with everything.
Overall rating: 6/10. He’s doing his best?
DUSK (HORRORTALE SANS)
You and him both, buddy.
He’s lowkey freaking out with you but also trying his best to calm you down. What a mess. At least he’s really empathetic?
He’s also extremely anxious about you not getting to eat. It’s horrible and it gives him bad memories. Might try to get you to eat something even though you shouldn’t eat.
He is practically glued to your side. No way he’s letting you out of his sight, even if it makes him more than uncomfortable to see you getting your blood drawn.
Usually he doesn’t like purring in front of people he doesn’t trust, but he’s kind of like a cat and does that soothing purring in hopes of making you feel better.
Overall rating: 8/10. Freaking out a bit too much but he’s doing his best and he really understands you.
ASTER (HORRORTALE PAPYRUS)
He’s a bit better than his brother in this regard, but that’s not to say he doesn’t also get super uncomfortable near blood or sharp objects.
He’s much calmer about it, soothing you and just being very sweet.
But he is pretty upset that you can’t eat anything. What kind of garbage rule is that?! He does try to get you to eat something because it makes him really anxious when you’re hungry, so you’ll have to decline and explain to him why you can’t eat right now.
Super supportive during the appointment. He knows just what to say to distract you and maybe he’ll even tell you a pun to make you feel better. Maybe.
He’ll use whatever method he knows works best for you to make sure you get through the appointment in the smoothest way possible. Distracting you? He’ll do that. Saying soothing things? He’s your man. Just hold his hand? You’ve got it.
Overall rating: 9.5/10. Extremely helpful but he gets a minus .5 for being so insistent on the food thing.
