and it's just plain fucking STUPID. you CANNOT get benefits and social security without documentation!!! i just had to reapply for SNAP (food stamps) and the HOOPS you gotta jump through with all the information they want. i was sick when they did the phone interview and accidentally mentioned i "sell things" (maybe 1 or 2 pieces a year) through a gallery, so i had to get documentation from the gallery owner to confirm that i made thirty bucks.... FOR THE ENTIRETY OF 2024. like do u guys want a full cavity search too? blood test? dental records? check to make sure im not hiding a penny under my tongue? jfc.

even with documentation i know for SSDI they'll give you the runaround until you just give up 😓 ive had friends who reapplied forever and just gave up to try and find somewhere to work that wouldn't kill them.
