#tag talk#reading more of whipping girl and uh. my main takeaway is.. yikes?#she's attempting to be egalitarian about how gender is this social construct but it feels like she's#she's so terrified to let go of biological essentialism wrt gender for fear of dismissing her own gender experience#like. of course hormones don't make women cry more! except they made me cry more so I'm definitely a real woman because of it.#feels like she's so afraid of letting go of biological gender even while arguing against it.#and sure. she's got some good insights. some good things to say.#but I can very much see the validity in the massive criticism levied against this work#especially wild because as a guy who's been on estrogen for over a year now. sure I've experienced the physical changes#but my emotional state is pretty much the same outside of the emotional growth you go through when you accept your identity#like. I cry less now. but I'm also way more emotionally stable in general.
