#The City In The Middle Of The Night#aroaessidhe 2021 reads#why could i not find a hq image of the normal cover. anyway. many tags incoming incl spoilers#i really enjoyed this i have many thoughts head full#i enjoyed that both main relationships were different kinds of codependant friendships not rly romantic#(one was one sided I guess but the rest not)#i really really enjoyed the messy sapphicnessthe roommates....the ride or die....the trusting noone else....#i maybe wish it hadn't so ubruptly ended with bianca straight up being homophobic#but i enjoyed it all the same#I have seen PLENTY of stupid allo opinions in the reviews lmao. or people saying it's problematic bc bad things happen to the lesbian MC#she's the protagonist.......bad things are allowed to happen to characters.....#I also enjoyed the worldbuildinghow it explored both the idea of human society on a new planet letting go of all previous culture#and then also the importance of Not forgetting that(ie there's jewish and muslim characters and all sorts)#ALSO THE GELET OF COURSE i have no specific thoughts other than Interesting#mouth my beloved! i found her narrative very interesting...she is Good#I was totally sure there's a sequel but... apparently not???? i assumed the open ending was a set up for that.......#so idk how i feel about that lol.#I think the fact that i read this in one go undisturbed by the internet and distractions helped also idk#part of me is like.....i wish this were YA so that everyone ends up friends and is happy and it is nice#but also i enjoyed the adult complexityidk#anyway. that is all.
