Gotta yap about my Dead boy boyfriends sorry chat
Like
I physically need to talk about them but my friends haven't watched the show yet (WATCH IT OTS SO GREAT AAHHHHH)
Some short imagines/ short scenario type of stuff? Idk
Not proofread (atp I don't know what that word means ngl I never proofread my studf)
It is currently 11pm for me, I am tired, this probably sucks but I do not care actually
☆ Imagine meeting the two for the first time and you genuinely cannot speak because they're both a little too gorgeous, I mean, Edwin slays his outfit and Charles has the biggest brown eyes. Pretty boys fr
★ I just think that, if you're another ghost, Edwin would like you more at first, if you're alive, Charles would (because of the whole Charles hates being dead thing and Edwin doesn't like being around the living)
☆ In this scenario, let's play with you being alive and (mostly) well. Involved in one of their cases, maybe, or you went into Jennys shop to get meat or something (if you don't eat meat pretend you're cooking a meal for a friend or something)
★ Probably immediately you kinda notice a strange aura (totally not Charles staring you down because he's never seen someone as cool and swag as you) - and let's be honest you aren't even surprised when you meet Crystal and she's looking at the corner all weird.
☆ meeting them again however, you probably just had some near death experience (maybe you wandered into a haunted house, or you somehow got involved in the whole Esther business) and you probably don't even care that ghosts exist because yeah, kinda checks out
★ Charles is probably immediately on your heel (Edwin is just the tiniest bit jealous) asking you all sorts of questions (Edwin is just the tiniest bit interested as well)
☆ getting to know them better, Edwin finds he quite likes yapping about cases with you (my autistic ghost boy needs someone that ACTUALLY listens to what he says) he will be overjoyed if he starts talking about a case and you go "Oh wasn't that the one where.." because yes!! It was that case! You remembered!! Good job!!!
★ I feel like the whole relationship would come along naturally at some point. Just you complaining how you can't sleep because your pillow is too warm and both of them offering to stay with you since ghosts are pretty cold
☆ they have the mutual agreement that they're somewhat sharing your affection since you give both of them the same. They'll just have conversations like "did you already tell them [...]" and "Oh, yeah I did could you do [...] for them?" Already being fully in the mindset of 'we can and will make this work with three people'
★ I think Charles would actually have a more difficult time when the relationship officially starts though. He just has so much affection for you and Edwin that he's almost bursting, but Edwin doesn't always like touch so he has ti be careful and look for the signs and you actually have to keep yourself up and cared for instead of being able to cuddle 24/7
☆ Just a silly boy struggling with not kissing and hugging both his partners at all times (though he has two hands, and will be the middle part whenever the three of you walk somewhere.)
☆ Edwin is more a acts of service type of guy while Charles, obviously, is big on physical touch, so whenever Charles holds you back from doing laundry or the dishes, Edwin will do it for you so you can chill out
★ doesn't mean you don't do things for the boys, though. You regularly get books for Edwin (which he's happier about that he shows) and always give Charles the chance to talk to you without any judgement (same goes for Edwin, though he doesn't use that offer as often as Charles)
☆ Imagine Charles rescuing Edwin from hell and that night the three cuddle up with each other even though Edwin and Charles don't sleep, just so you can hold both of them to make sure they're still there and well

For the ask game: I don’t have a good question to hand but I love reading you talk about your F1 fic (even as someone who knows next to nothing about F1 lol) so here’s an excuse to share whatever you’d like about it, dealer’s choice :))
hiii thank you for the ask, sorry it took a while to answer this!
ahh thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying my rambling!
it's so hard to pick something, really, but I guess I kinda have to :D
If everything goes to plan, the first part of this AU will solely focus on Charles and Edwin's journey as they both move up to F1 - Charles as a reserve driver while Edwin will be signed for a proper racing seat straight away out of a lower series. F1 is a high pressure environment and in one of the first races, Charles and Edwin end up in an accident that forces Charles to retire the car and Edwin doesn't quite make it into the points (he places 12th, so no points for him unfortunately). It was quite obviously Charles' fault and he feels guilty about it but Edwin won't calm down and lashes out instead.
Charles is still a reserve driver at this point and is barely on track except for free practice session and one or two GPs to step in for teammates. Which is why it's even more hilarious for everyone involved that Edwin uses every moment to pick a fight with Charles. Edwin isn't a reckless driver by any means, but he just seems to lose his mind as soon as he sees Charles in a car.
That is to say, at the beginning the "enemies" part is pretty one-sided but when Charles finally gets a proper racing seat, he and Edwin butt heads more and more often until words are exchanged that neither of them can't take back without looking like they're the weak one.
Crystal will be a driver as well. They all show how different the climb to F1 can be, with Edwin being under pressure to not disappoint his parents who financed his career, Charles being under pressure because his father won't support him and he has to rely on his supporting programs, and Crystal, whose parents only indulged her to keep her quiet but she's under pressure now to show them that she can actually accomplish something in F1
Crystal and Edwin were teammates in a lower series and are now gossip buddies for anything that happens on the paddock. She thinks Edwin's rivalry with this reserve driver is quite silly but that's no reason for her not to flirt with him a little. It's even funnier because the media constantly reports about Edwin and Crystal's supposed "secret relationship" because they have known each other for so long and basically live in the same flat during breaks. They laugh about the news articles while drinking cocktails on the balcony
Edwin and Charles first meet at a karting event, Edwin winning while Charles gets second. Charles is really friendly but Edwin is cautious because he knows that people rarely express their true feelings (Simon is always friendly as well when he and his parents are invited over to Edwin's home but when they're alone, it's a whole different story) and he might come off as rude but Charles isn't bothered. Charles is just happy to be there but it's saddened by the fact that he probably won't be able to keep up karting because he doesn't have the money. In the end, Edwin turns out the reason why he doesn't quit. He won't tell Edwin this for years to come
well, this got longer than I thought haha sorry about that! I hope there was something new because I can't remember everything that I already shared on discord, but a lot of this is quite recent development c:

EdWin is a rare m/f ship that works for me and i think it's at partially cause they're so bi4bi (the rest is their personalities and that they're both really smart and also childhood friends to lovers)
They work for me because it's one of the greatest love stories I've ever seen, especially in anime. A shonen. It's just so obvious this was written by a woman because the female characters actually have personalities and ambitions outside of the male main characters. And they still can be together without reducing them to being women only. And,, The way they act around each other??' What the fuck. I haven't finished this yet, but all of their scenes make me go absolutely insane.
Ed saying Winry isn't meant to kill and taking the gun from her? Ed saying that the next time he makes her cry will be out of happiness? Winry realizing she's in love with him in the softest of ways in that train? Ed wanting to be completely honest with her all the time? The way he protects her and the way she doesn't want to stay back and look and instead wants to help Ed and Al in their journey? When Ed rests their heads together to give her comfort? Winry giving Ed her earrings? Their whole dynamic is just beautiful.
And it feels so so organic and domestic because they're childhood friends and it's just so beautiful,,, How they argue and care about each other so much to the point of yelling at each other sometimes but being extremely gentle with one another? Like-- Edward is extremely well-written and he means the world to me, but I already knew that from the first second. But Winry? It was such a pleasant surprise to see her being so silly with her hobbies and passions and also having a personality outside of Ed but quite obviously caring about him and Al the most. They'd do anything for each other.
They make me sick. I wanna throw up. They mean everything to me. Honestly, this usually doesn't happen to me with canon m/f couples in shonens (because they're usually shit) but they're just so fucking good. And I agree completely, by the way, both of them are Bi because there's no way Winry doesn't have something going on with Paninya and there's no way Edward and Ling aren't completely in love too.
#not to mention whatever the fuck riza and roy have going on what the hell is that guys#winry and ed are just so in love it makes me melt#'i don't like short guys' WINRY YOU LIAR#they're everything i am so in love with their relationship#also i miss lingn't (greed) is he showing up again bc ed has to go 'nooo baby this isn't you' to greed and turn him into greedn't (ling)#fmab#fullmetal alchimist brotherhood#winry rockbell#edward elric#edwin

For the oc relationship of your choice: 24. How do these two interact with each other in public versus in private?
Thanks for the ask rhikasa. From this ask game
I think I'll answer this for Selene and Edwin because they're the one couple who do act different in public and in private (at least while in Allansia).
In public, Selene and Edwin don't engage much in any displays of affection, and tend to keep things a little more... "professional"(?) I guess. That's almost entirely down to Selene having been a member of the Triumverate, so she's hyper-aware of the kinds of things that the bards like to speculate about and the rumours that spring up because of it. Not that it stops the rumour mill entirely, but it at least keeps the private stuff private.
In private, Edwin showers Selene with all kinds of affection that are mostly reciprocated in kind. They're not truly sappy about it by any means, but there are plenty of cuddle piles and short kisses. They will also lovingly tease each other constantly and both Selene and Edwin can give as good as they get.
Think of their relationship as being a little bit like those you see in British period dramas, actually. Very staid and stoic while in public, and extremely silly and affectionate while in private (or around trusted family and friends).

Mid year book freakout tag
This has been a bit of a weird reading year for me so far but here we go.
1. What is the best book you've read in 2024 so far?
Toss up between Exo+Cross Fire (Fonda Lee) and Alien Clay (Adrian Tchaikovsky)
Right, so Exo+Cross Fire, a duology, is a fantastically nuanced take on colonialism/imperialism, and also a very compelling, fun, interesting, heart-wrenching read. There are fun aliens! Well, I say "fun". Interesting might be the word.
And Alien Clay is a drily humorous story of a man at an exoplanetary labour camp attempting to scientifically understand alien life while also straining against dogmatic rules for said science. There is fun alien life! Well, I say "fun". Interesting might be the word.
2. Best sequel you've read so far in 2024?
Cross Fire (Fonda Lee) or The Girl and the Moon (Mark Lawrence) (it really stuck the landing. Like really).
3. New (from 2024, ideally) release you haven't read yet, but want to?
Most Ardently, Gabe Cole Novoa (Pride and Prejudice retelling with an trans Oliver Bennet, who most believe is a girl named Elizabeth, as main character? Yes, please)
4. Most anticipeated release for second half of 2024?
I haven't really looked at what's coming :/
5. Biggest disappointment?
I've read some really meh books this year but they've mostly been weird romance stuff where I wouldn't necessarily expect them to be great either. Idk. Maybe Sweet Berries (CM Nascosta) or Bound to the Shadow Prince (Ruby Dixon) because they were worse than books by the same authors I'd already read - so below expectations.
6. Biggest surprise?
Probably that I really enjoyed an Omegaverse book: Lola & the Millionairs (Parts 1 and 2), Kathryn Moon.
7. New favourite author?
I read my first T Kingfisher this year - A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking - and it was so fun and lovely! I am a sucker for familiars (in various shapes and forms) and this one has two :D so probably that one. I guess we'll see how I feel once I've read more from Kingfisher.
Runner up is Mark Lawrence - I read him for the first time 2023 (The Girl and the Stars) but finished that trilogy, Book of the Ice, this year - and am now looking forward to reading more by him.
8. Newest fictional crush?
Oh this is always hard, I don't know that I get crushes like that? I tend to like the characters in the relationships they're in, not for myself. I certainly liked the pack from Lola (maybe especially Matthieu). I loved Edwin and Robin from A Marvellous Light (Freya Marske) together. The Shadow Creature in Two for Tea: Welcome to Azathé (CM Nascosta) was an inspiring concept.
9. Newest favourite character?
Bob the Sentient Sourdough Starter (A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking, T Kingfisher).
10. Book that made you cry?
Exo/Cross Fire, Fonda Lee (I read these in quick succession and am struggling to remember what happened in which book, but I think both may have made me cry, actually. Certainly at least one)
11. Book that made you happy?
Well, plenty of cozy romancy stuff, I guess - at least temporarily (The Dragons of Mayfair come to mind. Also Lola). But also any of the really great books like Exo and Alien Clay will make me happy just because they're good and I enjoy them.
12. Most beautiful book you've bought this year?
Didn't by either of these as I listened to them via my audiobook service (where you don't pay for individual books, you subscribe and get access to their library), but the Book of the Ice books are all gorgeous, and I love the cover of Alien Clay as well.
13. What books do you really need to read by the end of the year?
Oh god, I need to get back into and finish Witch King (Martha Wells), it is silly and stupid that I've just stopped in the middle. I mean I love it! It's so so good. And because I love it so much I worry I'll ruin the reading experience of it by being in a weird reading funk. (Also I feel bad because I'm (supposed to be) buddy reading it with @moriaine).
And that's all! I'll tag @moriaine, @ibringthebroccoli and @waittosparkle and hope you have the energy to do this :)
