look it's fine to learn about tropes and writing formulas but most people don't know how to use those things effectively. to be quite honest idk if it's good that art can be broken down into an easily-followed formula. like ideally yes you want a concrete structure while you're writing but on the other hand you should not be able to tell that the author has stuck so rigidly to their outline that the internal logic of the story makes no damn sense. you shouldn't stick so closely to the outline that characters who acted one way for 99.9% of the story suddenly act completely different just for the sake of The Plot. there's no good recipe for a good book, you can follow every rule of writing there is and still end up with a pile of shit at the end if you don't know what you're doing. like it's very obvious when you don't know when or how to apply a trope or not. moreover, you can polish a turd but it will always be a turd :-/
