YOU GOT: KENMA KUZOME
matchup for @suchagoodgirlxoxo
‘My hobbies include watching anime(mainly action) , playing on my switch I play a some games but mainly supersmash bros(not often), listening to music(more slower sad music and lo-fi), I like to draw (mainly anime but I do do realistic and conceptual also more traditional than digital ), I love to read like crime fiction, I write poetry and also fanfic but it isn’t great, I like to try cooking new things and I like to sing as well.’
♡ kenma likes to watch whatever animes you recommend to him lol- like seriously, he’s not picky, as long as it’s interesting 🤷♂️ he had a phase where he watched a bunch of animes but since then, he’s kinda fell out of it and the only ones he watches now are the ones you speak highly of or the ones that are paired with games (danganronpa, naruto, etc)
♡ sometimes when you are raving to him about an anime you adore atm, he’ll pretend like he’s not listening but in reality, he’s all-ears and plans on binging the anime as soon as you leave just so he can talk to you about it 🥺
♡ just bc you are his lover doesn’t mean he is gonna go easy on you in smash ✋ he brings his a-game every single time so if you aren’t ready to get your ass beat, don’t ask him to smash
♡ also he lowkey kinda likes it if you get pouty when you lose- like he thinks it’s so cute and he’ll sit there with the smuggest smirk on his face
♡ if you beat him, on the outside he’ll be like ‘gg 😐’ but on the inside, he’s either really proud of you and celebrating, or he’s bawling his eyes out – one or the other.
♡ we’ve already established that kenma listens lo-fi and vaporwave (occasionally hyperpop) so whenever y’all hang out and just chill together in his room, not really talking but just relishing in each other’s presence, he’ll put on lo-fi music on his speakers as background noise
♡ kenma also went through a phase of trying to draw but it seriously didn’t work out for him so whenever you draw literally anything, he’ll hype you up as if you just made a masterpiece
♡ ‘woah! that’s awesome, (y/n). you’re so talented.’ he hummed, peering over your shoulder to admire the art sat in front of you that you were working on, leaning down to press a kiss to your temple.
♡ ‘kenma..’ you muttered, twisting your neck around to shoot him a perplexed look, ‘this is just the sketch..and i’ve not even finished it yet.’
♡ anyway, kenma pretends to be disinterested in the fact you write fanfiction but secretly, he stalks your account and consumes your content like it’s his lifeblood
♡ he has never really been one to cook anything besides instant noodles – like if it was up to him, he’d just order pizza every night – but if you cook, that’ll give him the motivation to join you and try learn a few new things as well
♡ he’s very competitive though so let’s say you’re making pasta and you’re complaining about how you’ve put in all the spices that the recipe listed but it still didn’t taste nice; kenma would push you aside like ‘let the pro handle this’ and start pouring in random-ass spices as if he knew what he was going
♡ and that was the story of how kenma accidentally dropped a whole tub of red pepper flakes into the pasta 🤠
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
‘My love language is physical touch and acts of service. I love a good cuddle sesh and like just making people happy. I also love quality time sucker for a home movie date with food and cuddles. Or cooking together. For fun fact lets just say I have a pretty sharp tongue and good a comeback. I’m pretty blunt at times but will also feel super bad if I hurt your feelings.’
♡ kenma’s love languages are gift-giving and physical touch ^^ he loves having you cuddled up under his arms while he plays on his switch, or when you sit on his laps as he games on his PC. he’s convinced himself that he just plays better when you are around 🥰
♡ once a week, it’s become a custom for you both to snuggle up on the couch together and watch random nostalgic movies while eating either take-out or the food y’all just cooked
♡ omg if you have a sharp tongue then lev, yamamoto and kuroo would all be shaking when you walk into the gym by kenma’s side bc they know one of them is going to be ridiculed
♡ kenma is shown to be quite blunt too but he has developed somewhat of a soft-spot for you. also, there is not much you can do to hurt his feelings- but like since you are his s/o he trusts you and cares about what you think of him so if you were to turn to him and utter in a genuine tone of voice, ‘i’m disappointed in you’ on the outside he’ll deadpan but on the inside he is bawling (ಥ _ ಥ)
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
‘Some random things that may be too personal but imma just add it is I’m apparently a gifted kid burnout, I’m bi, also genderfluid, I can go long periods doing nothing because it’s honestly kinda hard to get stuff done for me I might not be able to like socialize a lot either also I’m majoring in Information Technology and have a really random dirty sense of humor [...] i do karate.’
♡ kenma isn’t really the best at getting things done either but i’d like to think that y’all encourage each other to complete task bc you just want the best for one another 🥺 so you’ll both just be laying on the bed, so tired with no motivation to do anything until kenma utters, ‘you said you have a report due.’ and you’re quick to reply, ‘and you said you have emails to send.’
♡ then it becomes a battle of ‘who’s thing is less important?’ until one of you finally suggests, ‘how about we both just do our work so we can cuddle in peace afterwards?’ then you both reluctantly crawl out of bed
♡ he isn’t really a social-butterfly either but ever since he’s started streaming, you’ve noticed he’s became less introverted so that means whenever y’all go to restaurants, he talks to the waiter so you to don’t have to 😩🙏 (also he pays for the meal bc he’s a king-)
♡ you and kenma are so powerful together bc he has somewhat of a dirty mind too KJXIDGH like kuroo will just be talking to y’all (even though neither of you are paying attention) then he’ll snap his kitkat in half and offer you a finger-- then get confused as to why you and kenma are caCKLING 💀
♡ he is highkey so proud that you know a martial art and you can defend yourself like he thinks it’s so badass- also when you were watching ‘karate kid’ with him, he’d pause the movie every few seconds to be like ‘so do you know that move? show me.’
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
for @suchagoodgirlxoxo: ooft it was lowkey hard to choose but i hope you like kenma 🥺🙏 also you said ur ideal guy is taller than you but erm kenma is the same height as you ‘:) but that way, y’all can share clothes!!

so this is a birthday present for @numinousbones that also doubles as like. a general... congratulatory thing, i guess, because they’ve gotten through a lot this year and i wanted to do something nice for the end of their semester.
it also happened bc we haven’t rped together in ages now but we HAVE wistfully talked about a few ideas and dynamics and this crossover thing just kinda popped into my head. it will never rival the legendary transformers/grey’s anatomy masterpiece but ENJOY IT ANYWAY
storm... i know life often seems like. A Lot right now for way too many reasons, but i have seen you persevere through so much and i will never stop admiring that about you. right now it might feel like there’s no end in sight but you’re so talented and so smart and so passionate and!! one day that’s all gonna come together and feel less like “persevering” and more like. living the life you deserve. okay this is getting way too sappy but i just felt like maybe you needed some sappy in your life, ANYWAYS. happy birthday!!! <3
Ivan Becke is dead before Villanelle can get to him.
It would actually be kind of cool, if the idea of competition didn’t piss her off so much. His throat has been cut, and the wound is neat and deliberate but a little too broad to be from the kitchen knife on the ground a few feet away.
Is it someone’s deliberate attempt at deception? It might work on a less trained eye, but she muses idly on why the other assassin would need to cover up their method if they were going to let him bleed out anyway.
She pouts down at the pale, lifeless face petulantly. “Look at you. You’re a mess. See what happens when you don’t wait for me?”
As if she’d been planning on leaving him much better off.
Sighing, Villanelle begins to straighten up. Agitation and pent up energy cling to her like static electricity. She hates being denied a kill when she’s already built it up this much, it’s like --
“They told me to leave a mess. I’m usually much cleaner.” A voice Villanelle doesn’t recognize echoes from -- not behind her, but in front of her, and she doesn’t know how she could have missed the figure in the shadows of the apartment, the pair of unnatural red eyes suddenly glowing back at her. “Something about making an impression.”
Villanelle wonders whether this is one of those times - so frequent, in her line of work - when it’s better to shoot first and ask questions later. But what the mysterious assailant just said sinks in, and her curiosity gets the better of her. She straightens fully. “Were you trying to show off for me?” she asks, mockingly flattered.
“...Hardly.” The eerie gaze never leaves her. “Or at least, strictly in the most professional sense.”
The figure ripples into full view, and Villanelle can’t him but start at it -- him? Openly. The other assassin is not a person, but a machine. A robot. He’s more cat-like than anything, although he’s much closer to the size of a car than a cat, and now Villanelle is certain there is no way she could have missed him unless he came equipped with some kind of... invisibility trick.
There are a lot of questions she could ask, right in this moment. A normal person would have probably been sputtering with hundreds of them. But Villanelle knows she would not be the Twelve’s favorite if she was not so extraordinary with things like this: compartmentalizing shock, confusion, fear, no matter how unprecedented.
So what she says instead is, “Wow. Wasn’t sending you kind of overkill?”
The robot-cat-assassin stares at her, unimpressed. “Trust me. He wasn’t my usual variety of target.”
“Wait! Let me guess.” Villanelle hardly lets him finish. “You’re here from the future. Your target was the father of some heroic asshole who’s going to lead a revolution, and you had to come all the way back here to stop him because just killing him as a baby would have been too easy, or something.”
She gets no response this time, but she swears something dubious flickers in the other assassin’s eyes. “Seriously? You really need to be more genre-savvy.”
“Right,” the cat says. “You know, I don’t know how you can be half as effective as I’m told you are. You never seem to shut up.”
“I’m just trying to make conversation! Getting to know the people in your field is always so awkward.” She leans back on her heels, eyeing him speculatively, wondering what might be her best chance at taking him down if he proves to be a threat. She doesn’t have any weapons on her currently that seem as though they’d be remotely effective against a giant metal predator. Perhaps she could try electrocuting him, but that would require some luck and some very quick thinking. “Did the Twelve send you? They’ve really been holding out on me.”
Some kind of bizarre, technological experiment on their part would be... well, maybe not the strangest thing Villanelle has ever heard, but up there. The other option is that someone else sent him, in which case her life is almost definitely in danger. She watches him carefully despite her casual outward demeanor.
“Not exactly.” The cat’s tail flicks slowly to one side, but he has yet to make a hostile move. “But it turns out that my superiors are interested in yours. Insofar as my superiors can be interested in yours.”
“Are they robots too?” Villanelle asks, taking his dig at the Twelve in stride.
He sniffs disdainfully. “We’re not robots. We’re Cybertronians. Aliens, as you would call them.”
“Oh. Okay.” Villanelle guesses that isn’t really much weirder than assassin robots from the future. Or the secret, mechanical army the Twelve had suddenly been building in her head. But a thought suddenly strikes her, and she leans in just a little, quirking a brow. “Are you invading?”
The thought of the Twelve getting wrapped up in something like this is mildly hilarious. Villanelle can’t think of any other reason aliens would take such an immediate interest in them, though.
“It’s more complicated than that,” the cat says impatiently, which Villanelle is pretty sure is just bullshit. He probably just doesn’t want to admit that whatever devious scheme his superiors have conducted has been done a hundred times in science fiction movies before. “We’re in the middle of a war, and we could use your organization’s information, and your resources. And no doubt you could use ours.”
There’s definite disdain dripping from his words, this time. Villanelle can’t help but grin a little. “Oh, you hate this.”
“I’m not particularly fond of working with humans.”
“You’re so much better than us. So much older, so much more technologically advanced... right?”
“Something like that.”
“And yet... you and I do the same work.”
He eyes her coolly for a long moment. “I do mine better.”
Villanelle laughs. She wanted to hate him - she really did - but he’s making it difficult for her. “So why did you do this?” She gestures to the corpse on the floor. “Why bother making an impression on an inferior species?”
Something rumbles in his throat, like a growl. “Your handler seems to think that getting your attention is the only way to keep you manageable.”
Ah. That does sound like something Konstantin would say. But why --
“...And if we’re going to be working together, I had to think of something that wouldn’t necessitate immediately mauling you.”
Just like that, Villanelle’s smile drops. Working together?
“I work alone,” she states with simple finality.
“You think I like it any more than you do?” he snaps irritably. “Orders are orders. I hear you don’t like following them, but if you make this more difficult than it has to be - draw it out, make things complicated - I really will kill you.”
Inwardly, Villanelle seethes, though more of her anger is directed at Konstantin than her new coworker. He knows she doesn’t play well with others. What is he doing? What are the Twelve doing?
“It sounds like you know all about me already,” Villanelle notes with a clear voice and a smile that is now forced. “What about you? Do I even get to know your name?”
He watches her for awhile without answering, and Villanelle suddenly starts to feel that he can see through her. She doesn’t like it. “Ravage,” he says finally.
“Huh. Good name.”
“You may be obnoxious, but I know you’re also talented. For a human.” Ravage gives the half-compliment begrudgingly, seeming to relent a little, and Villanelle can’t help but feel suspicious of that too. “Don’t cause problems, and maybe we’ll even work halfway decently together. Then this will be over more quickly for both of us.”
Villanelle is already thinking of a million and one ways she can cause problems. But she sighs. If nothing else, she’s curious about Ravage, the way he works, the way he kills. Maybe that will keep her entertained, for a little while.
At least until she gets her next chance to complain to Konstantin.
“Okay, partner!” she says at last, deliberately too cheery. “What do you say we get out of here before this body starts to smell?”
“Technically, you all smell,” Ravage tells her. She shoots him an offended look.
“I do not smell. Badly, at least.”
“You’ve sprayed something chemical all over yourself. It almost drowns out the reek of your emotions.”
The idea that he can somehow smell her feelings brings Villanelle up short.
Maybe she’ll start overdoing the perfume, from now on.
“Hey, you’re not going to do that invisibility thing again when we go outside, right?” she asks over her shoulder, heading for the fire escape and already filing away her prickling concerns.
“Yes, actually,” Ravage responds dryly. “Seeing as keeping a low profile would be ideal for both of us.”
“But then it’ll just look like I am talking to myself,” Villanelle complains. “I will look crazy!”
“I don’t think you need my help with that.”
Villanelle laughs again, because he hasn’t seen anything yet. Maybe while she’s trying to learn everything she can from Ravage, she’ll teach him a thing or two as well.
#this turned out more like. introductory than anything but im actually really FEELIN this au so maybe ill write more of it at some point?#what could possibly go wrong with a twelve/decepticon teamup???#also i just decided to set this pre-killing eve canon for the potential of ravage having to suffer through the show's bullshit#hope you have fun reading this storm <3

Anyway I finally finally finished the TM post-mortem so have one last rundown
Really loved: Signet’s stupid relics runway show, Ali describing the Mirage/Splice resolution as “the most amazing Gift of the Magi fuckup,” and, oddly, Keith’s reflections on anarchism, though idk if enough of that made it legibly into the season---which is one of the ways Gig was underserved, I guess.
I also enjoyed and appreciated the discussion of TM’s utopianism as monumental artistic challenge. I obviously have criticisms wrt execution and I disagree with some of their analysis of TM’s failures and shortcomings, but I thought everyone was refreshingly honest about the sheer scale of the task, in a way that I often missed during the series proper---when the tone sometimes tended more toward “we’ve set ‘depicting a utopia’ as our goal, and of course we share a coherent (static) vision of what that entails, and know exactly how to get from here to there.”
I was dissatisfied at best with the conversation about redemption vs rehabilitation. I might be more convinced by the distinction if Austin had ever stopped saying “sin”... which, among other things, helps to selectively blur together abuse and other forms of violence. (I’ve given up on even dreaming of a world in which FATT covers its ass better in re: Christian-centric, frankly Catholic-centric readings of both morality and faith, and maybe it’s for the best that they lack the wherewithal to mask that.) That said, I think it’s very striking that Even Gardner’s violence and militarism seems dealt with in-story almost exclusively as a form of trauma and a thing that happens to Even Gardner, while Fourteen’s history with Castlerose is discussed (up to the time of the finale) almost exclusively in terms of Sins Fourteen Committed. I’m not saying those framings are ~flipped, but the ratio does seem off. Even has a fuckton of choices at every step of the way and experiences basically no material repercussions or visible change of heart, other than “once there are no Advent people left I’ll stop targeting Advent.” He’s also, notably, “brought back from the edge” by a played-straight romantic relationship, for some reason. Fourteen has like... half of a narrative about turning bad habits and even obsolete ideas to constructive ends, and half a narrative about reclaiming agency once safely away from your abuser, even at the cost of losing access to huge swathes of your life... but it’s an arc that goes so unacknowledged or unseen by the other characters that it never connects back up to the idea that, well, bound up in the problem of rehabilitation is the problem of forgiveness---or if we don’t like that language, then acceptance. It’s never clear on what terms Fourteen is judged and reintegrated into their community, and how and where their self-image aligns with others’ view of them.
Which is very, very lonely, and raises huge questions for me about the whole issue of Fourteen as ~disability representation and specifically as a test case for what terminal illness might look like in a utopia. It is just not clear what anyone’s goals were, as far as showing Fourteen supported in a systemic way and not just on the level of relationships. It’s very odd. I’m still puzzled by Jack and Austin’s remarks on this, especially the focus on what Jack had or hadn’t done with Fourteen in play. Literally every NPC (who has a stance on the issue at all) responds to Fourteen with undisguised horror at their memory dysfunction---the most sympathetic version of this is a lecture about integrating assistive technology into their daily routine! and the least sympathetic is the point-blank statement that Fourteen not remembering who they’ve killed is worse than killing those people in the first place. Like, what the hell? That’s a vision of morality that is entirely premised on repentance, and on the idea that expiation for a crime only comes with appropriate helpings of guilt. And it never really receives an in-universe challenge.
It was also weird to me that Grand didn’t come up at all in that part of the discussion. But then again it seemed like no one wanted to comment seriously on Grand’s arc in general; maybe Art was making really sad faces on the call or something. It’s a shame though, since you’d think it would be a good opportunity to go on some bullshit about “salvation NOT through good works,” or rather, salvation definitely through good works but everyone feels a little weird about it. Three bombs? Three bombs?
Finally, it is important that I dissect all remarks on shipping. I was a little perturbed by the discussion of Fourteen/Tender; I thought Ali’s IC reasons were perfectly valid but I found Jack’s slightly suspect, because I don’t think, uh, “this person flirts all the time but is too busy dying to pursue new romantic projects” really jives---either with Fourteen’s profound, active engagement with others (more active and deeper engagement the longer the season went on) or with Jack’s stated goal of presenting a dying person who, without being embroiled in regret or bitterness in the face of death, still loves their life. Obviously I don’t think romantic relationships are a requirement for that, but the blanket statement that Fourteen is Not That Person gave me trouble. Also, I just don’t think you can drop the “platonic relationship representation is so important” line in there without a LOT more unpacking of the pros and cons of that---who are the characters involved in that relationship, and are they people for whom nonsexual relationships are a top-of-the-line representation deficit? Also, is nonsexual vs sexual really the paradigm you want to cleave to here, in a discussion of the chemistry between an internet goddess and a hunk of data?
I’m a hypocrite though bc when they got to echogrand and went on about how it was important that Echo’s arc not center on romance I was like RIGHT ON
...
Okay. One more thing. Janine shooting down Signet/Blueberry; I was fond of this, though I obviously do not care about her opinion and will continue to do what I want---I don’t like “parental” as the trajectory for a dynamic whose foundational moment is the younger weaker party saving the older, that doesn’t do it for me. Of course children can save their parents, but they shouldn’t have to, and that certainly shouldn’t be the pattern that defines the relationship. And for Signet and Blueberry I think it really is; Signet offers Blueberry apologies, Blueberry offers Signet things Signet actually needs. That’s not parental. Nevertheless, I was fond bc it made me think about what a wealth of fun mentorship dynamics this season offered otherwise---with Tender and Morning’s Observation, and Fourteen and Sho, there are these really precious internal movements, or moments of slippage, from distrust to empathy and from faith to disillusionment, that I treasured as real, organic, slippery pieces of character writing and of writing about growth... My favorite example of this is when Morning’s Observation is FURIOUS with Tender after the fucking... rooftop debacle early on in the Wind’s Poem arc. And then again, more seriously, later, after he’s been essentially abandoned and has to save the day by drawing on parts of himself he wanted to give up. That feels like a moment of roleswap between “guardian” and “child” that is presented as appropriately bittersweet, pivotal, and rupturing, and which therefore preserves the logic of the original relationship even as it expands it. And I also love Grand’s awkward interference there, haha... esp in the context of Grand managing to disappoint Morning separately later on, when by that point it’s lost most of its oomph just because Morning has learned not to have expectations of these fucking geniuses. Which is its own mixed result.
(I wish there had been a bit more followup with Morning in the finale, actually, I don’t think he really got resolution on some stuff and I think “happy at the Brink with his moms” is more avoidant copout than anything, though not implausible or unreasonable avoidance from a character perspective. But like, the fucking... part in the Feast of Patina where it becomes increasingly apparent, throughout Morning’s glad monologue, that he did, in fact, do many of the same things as Grand? He betrayed former allies for an enemy faction in the name of convenience! That’s not all Grand did, but it’s not nothing. And everyone has to fall back on “but the Advent Group are fascists! Morning didn’t turn coat and join fascists!” when it’s like, well, would he have, if they had offered him spaghetti?
Not that I think Morning’s and Grand’s choices are remotely equivalent. But it was a very funny parallel for them to try to wriggle out of on the fly, and I wish they hadn’t---I wish they’d leaned into Morning’s lingering doubts, which would if anything have served to highlight that he does have good reason to stay. It’s just that those reasons don’t cancel out the doubts.)
#friends at the table#twilight mirage#ok i said last but i already feel another post boiling up in me about some comparisons austin made between c/w and tm but#i think i'll save that#for another time.

So i just had this thought, because I've recently lost the feeling in half of my foot and have to see the doctor, but Damian had his entire sound replaced, so surely there would be done nerve damage there?
Spine, maybe? I’m pretty sure you’re talking about his spine.
If comic books were at all realistic, I would agree, but I think we’re supposed to believe that the League of Assassins has some kind of revolutionary technology something or other that made it all fine. He did have to use a wheelchair and a neck brace for awhile, but after that it didn’t come up. It’s silly, but medical miracle operations are pretty common in this medium (unfortunately).

Have you heard of code switching? When two or more people speak multiple languages and will accidentally substitute words from another language or even change languages while talking to each other. Imagine the bat kids doing that.
Fun idea!

In your personal headcanon/preferred canon, how long did Bruce travel the world to learn before becoming Batman?
Hm I picked up a random volume one time where Bruce was dragging Alfred all over the world while he was still ten or eleven years old. I like that idea a lot, so I like to think that sort of stuff continued until Bruce was fifteen or so, and then Bruce ran off on his own every once in awhile from fifteen to nineteen, and then he actually left for sustained training. Came back around 24? Sounds about right to me, but I haven’t specifically checked for a canonical version.

Crack!Songs for Dick: "For Your Entertainment" by Adam Lambert and "Circus" by Britney Spears. Google the lyrics, it'll be self-explanatory. I've also got "In the Air Tonight" by Kelly Sweet for the Batgirls, and "World on Fire" by Les Frictions for Batman. Also, I know you don't really do 'couple' things, but considering that they've canonically been together in the comics, here's some song recs for DickBabs: "When We Were Young," "Remedy" and "Hello" by Adele.
Thank you for the songs, and I can understand why you might think canonical couples are okay, because I have been pretty permissible about those in the past
BUT I would very much prefer that everybody abide by my one (1) rule and not talk to me about ships. No exceptions

Hello Amy, what do you think Damian's personality will be like in the future (20s)? I'm trying to figure out what a somehow tiny Bruce with Dick's influence would be like.. and what do you think of the older versions we've seen of him in the comics ? (this is for no odd reasons i'm just a sucker for character development) and hey congrats! good luck with law school !
Huh well I definitely haven’t liked any of the older versions that have shown up in official DC spinoffs. I usually have one of two problems: either they don’t act like Damian at all or they emphasize character traits that Damian has been slowly losing. Injustice is a good example of that last one, I think. I dropped the series pretty quickly because they kept talking about how Damian was more angry and more dark when in reality he’s been moving in the opposite direction for the last eight years. Those are all AUs of course, so I can’t totally criticize them for characterization, but I definitely don’t like them myself (not that I’ve ever met an AU I liked).
I guess... when I think about how Damian is likely to develop as he gets older, instead of starting with “tiny Bruce,” I would start with Damian now and then continue the trends of established development. Odds are he’ll continue to make progress with his personal issues and personal relationships. He’s always been involved in WE-- seems like he was probably trained specifically for business and leadership roles-- so I like to imagine that Damian will be very involved in Gotham City affairs when he’s older... sort of the way Bruce is now, but without the what-I-am-a-simple-rich-boy-who-knows-nothing act (and therefore willing to tolerate a lot less bullshit).
