It's not just modpacks though.
There's like a whole new wave of minecraft youtubers who's content exclusively revolves around chillmaxxing the vibes of nostalgic minecraft.
TL;DR: Play games how you want to, not how other people say.
It's funny to watch some people tell you how it's meant to be played and whotnot, by looking exclusively at certain snapshots (not literal) of the development history that were at most for a MONTH in existence before the game changed again.
But like the whole point of the game is that you play it how you want to, not how others tell you to?
Then there are the people who are bored because they min/maxed too much. Then there are the people who look at it from a game design point of view far too much (game mechanics abuse, boss fight design and progression).
Both those crowds I feel see it more like an RPG to get through rather than a journey to be experienced. At least the discourse makes it feel like that.
Minecraft is one of those universal sit down and do anything games that nearly anyone can play, which is why the niche internet people probably complain about it too much. It's not hyper specialised to them anymore.
Tumblr media
