Hiya! Sorry to bother, I really love SoH and I'm sure you hear this all the time but your writing is so amazing I can't help but come back and reread what's available just for fun! ♥

I have a small wonder, My main MC is going for exRed romance just full steam no eyes for anyone else and it's been a fun ride to watch them be so affectionate yet hesitant I gotta wonder though what the rest of the gang thinks having to watch their ridiculous dance? (I fully believe chase has a betting pool for when they get together.)

In Red's case, I think he's naturally affectionate/subtle/socially-mindful enough to not come off as stupidly over-the-top with his feelings in a really obvious or public way; because he's proceeding cautiously with an ex-MC and deliberately "feeling things out" without wanting to make them uncomfortable/make a fool out of himself, I don't think it'd be as obvious to others what's going on between him and MC unless they went to school with them both and witnessed the history there? (AKA Pan, Neon, etc.). For everyone else, it's:

Blade: literally doesn't think anything of it (unless he's also romantically interested in MC)--from his perspective, Red is equally friendly/comfortable/flirtatious with pretty much everyone, plus it would make sense that their being old friends/former lovers would come with certain closeness. In other words, he's not thinking about it

Trouble: took Red and MC at their word and just thinks they dated when they were teens, does not notice anything remarkable going on between them, but he can be naturally a bit dense in that area (though sometimes he isn't)

Tallys: oh my god just hook up already, the tension is starting to get under her skin lol she's of the camp that they should just jump each other and get it over with

Shery: she's 👀 and watching with bated breath, and subtly concocting excuses for them to be together, like "oh MC I needed to deliver a message to Red in his lab, but I'm "busy", could you please let him know so-and-so while I go do this other thing?"

Riel: he's actually broached the topic with Red before out of curiosity because the romantic tension was sooooo obvious to him: it was a really brief conversation because Red was caught so off-guard by Riel going "so are you going to tell MC you still have feelings for them/do you want to try things again?" that he just sort of looked at Riel blankly, but they sort of fumbled their way through a conversation where Red was sort of airing his thoughts/asking for advice and Riel was just like clinically listening?? and then they never talked about it again, lol. It's not like Riel ships them, he was just interested in what was going through Red's head at the time, and now he doesn't really care anymore, whatever happens is between them! but now and again Red will look up from subtle flirting with MC, catch Riel's eye, and Riel will have this unimpressed face like 🙄

Chase: gleefully has a (private) betting pool and trolls Red/the two of them as often as he possibly can without entering the zone of over-interference, much like an ecologist trying to observe a rare animal without over-affecting its natural behavior

Ayla: she notices if she's romantically interested in MC, but otherwise shelves their behavior as "things exes/old friends must do, which I wouldn't have any personal experience with, so I guess that makes sense to me" and doesn't give much romantic significance to the way they act around each other, that just must be how it is! 🤷🏻‍♀️ She'd be really surprised if someone like Lavinet was like, "Oh, darling, they are obviously still mad about each other..." Ayla: "oh, I just thought their whole thing was how all former lovers who stayed friends acted." Lavinet and Briony: noooooo

Briony: she is peak shipper for ex!Red and MC, she picks up on things right away and is watching both of them with her ponytail whipping back and forth like she's at a tennis match 👀, she's squealing and swooning internally every time they smile over a book together and is like barely keeping things together out of respect to them...

Lavinet: she's amused and intrigued by what's going on, ex-lovers who reunite years later is so inherently romantic, it's like something out of a drama!!! She's smirking and making sly comments here and there to sort of nudge things along now and then, but otherwise she subscribes to the "leave no trace" observing from a distance mentality rather than an active interference (unless her interference is specifically requested, in which case she's all hands on deck)!

Halek: didn't even realize they're exes, I think because no one told him or he wasn't paying attention, he just thinks they're Like That (as in, they want to bang each other, obviously, he just figures they're dragging their feet about it because they work together or something)

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish we would have touched on his sketchy connection with Earthgov more. I mean, he got pulled into being a spy for them when he was REALLY young. Who knows what he was made to do or how much of a hold they STILL have over him. We should have got at least a few more chapters exploring that connection and how it would have affected his relationships (mainly with jenni) a bit more.

We should have also got a chapter or two of him trying to reconnect with his family after being presumed dead for so long.

I think I've posted all the headcanons about Coluans I had saved up but leave it to me to forget if I have any extra ones I haven't posted or written down as soon as I'm asked. It's all under #legionlsh hc on my page though :)

I love fantasy races sm so if I have any knowledge or interest in a certain species or race I'll probably go off

I have some for Winathians and Bismollians 😂

both of which I headcanon as not aliens but human colonists. Winathian is more of a "nationality" with generations having been born and raised on the planet and Bismollian is almost a subset of Terran at this point- (in 3000) I like to think as a category, Bismollians are at least 300 years old, a lost branch of humanity that's basically an alien species by now but does in fact spring from Terrans.

I hc that all Winathian twins are fraternal twins, given Ayla and Garth. It only makes sense to me that it's either/or and not randomly fraternal or identical. It's also possible that the mother would release double the amount of female gametes while in a certain range of influence of Winath's star (in my headcanon, a unique wavelength of radiation induces the twinned births)

Because Garth has been sick at least twice, I hc the common cold for Terrans is slightly more infectious and severe among Winathians lol.

Also I imagine that Winathians have a mostly plant based diet (at least on-world) and many have low exposure- and therefore low tolerance to sugar (it makes them crash- hard.. or worse)

I don't know if it's ever explicitly outlined but I hc that Winathian culture views a twin absorbing or consuming the other in the womb very negatively, almost like an omen or personal failure. Dalya probably could have aborted Mekt. This is 29xx. She had to know! But I like to think she thought it was special or that she could turn this horrible thing positive.

You know how dogs can eat really fast without looking like they're eating abnormally fast? Bismollians can totally eat like that.

in my hc they were originally from a mission (a possible generational space ship) to reach a planet that seemed completely habitable, but wasn't, either by the time they reached it or at all. I guess they had a better fate than those dead astronauts the Legion found 😂

As an almost daughter species of Terrans they use a melanin system of coloration. Bismollians' skin color is relatively neutral tan by now with little variation.

Ok so.. apparently cats' saliva undergoes slight changes enzymatic makeup when they lick their fur... So I hc that while it's perfectly safe (usually) to kiss or share with Tenzil, his saliva becomes increasingly corrosive when he anticipates using his ability.

Magic doesn't obey the laws of physics/matter- so Bismollians can't eat magic or magical substances. In my headcanon M-E Lad is sometimes gaining the powerful/corrupted powers of those magical items and his inability to properly wield them or their sheer incomprehensibility is what makes him feral. lmao Also Tenzil, and Taryn, etc. are one species I wouldn't headcanon or draw as having sharp (front) teeth. what use are fangs for biting metal and rock?! (though their overall tooth shpaes might be a lil different from Terrans', especially in the case of molars)

After Intolerably Unbearable, I imagine Wraith waking up early, Ayla almost passed out next to him, and the fact he left her so satiated and exhausted will feed his ego for weeks. Feed. Right, food.

He goes to his ship kitchenette, trying to be as quiet as possible to not disturb his sleeping partner or alert Bee that he's up already. He doesn't know what he will say if she asks about this new situation. That's for later. Now he's too hungry to think, his head's too high in cloud nine, and he wants to keep impressive the hunter in his bed.

Breakfast sounds like a good idea. A delicious one that'd make Ayla praise his cooking.

Wait, the cupboards are empty. The cookie jar only has four water biscuit left. There's no pancake mix or eggs.

He had been so furious when he was told who would be his fireteam for the next mission that he had forgotten to take all the preparations he usually did. Bee typically reminds him of buying different types of food, not just the nutritional bars the Vanguard supplies them with, but she had been so nervous at the time... He takes a deep breath. He's always ashamed of himself when he affects Bee like that.

At least there's some coffee left. Still, he runs both his hands down his face with a frustrated groan. This is a bad first morning-after impression.

He doesn't even hear when the hunter rose from the bed.

She softly knocks against the wall to catch his attention, the noise managing to make him jump a little. He turns, the good morning ready on his throat, nervousness making his fans speed up, but when he looks at her, he realizes the shirt she's wearing is very familiar. The one that has the phrase 'Bringing the thunder' and a photo of him about to thundercrash a Goliath. The gift from fireteam after he helped them during a mission. It looks ridiculously big on her. Her hair is in all directions, her face still half-asleep, and under the kitchen light the hickeys on her neck and chest look like bruises. It's one of the hottest images he's ever seen.

His voice box struggles for a few seconds before he can speak. "I'm making breakfast, but there is not much left."

"Oh, it's fine. I'm not that hungry." She says, voice hoarse, just as her stomach protests loudly. The blush spread around her face like fire.

"Wait until you hear mine. It's even weirder because I don't even have a stomach!" He tells her, and it makes her laugh, so he laughs too.

It looks like she wants to say something more, but she bites her lower lip instead and starts shifting uncomfortably from one foot to another. It's odd to see her so unsure. A little charming, too. She braves taking a few steps closer to him, not making eye contact, her face still a little red, and with shaky hands Wraith gently grabs her chin and makes her look up.

"Hey," He says, takes the hint when she stares at his mouth, leans down and kisses her softly, using a little arc energy to give her a tingly sensation.

They remain like that for a few seconds, a bit breathless when they part. Ayla licks her lips and smiles.

"Hey, you." She whispers, her blush warm to the touch. And he kisses her again, just because he can.

Their ghosts join them when they start drinking the coffee. Bee asks about the mission the other two did in the Reef, if it's true the Queen had asked them to join the court for dinner. And Ayla smiles, shares the tale, her small hand wrapping around Wraith's half-way through the story.

Oh this is so cute and domestic and ugh I adore it. Domestic vibes are something I live for in situations/fandoms you don't typically see them. We know that its canon that guardians jump off the tower for fun, but we don't get a glimpse into the personal lives of our guardians.

I would love nothing more than a small social space that is our guardians home and/or ship interior. Something we can customize with our accomplishments in game. I got the vidmaster seal? Give me a collection of visuals that are based around videogames to fill my apartment with. Or a color scheme for the interior of my ship, just gimme. Don't even get me started about mini pets of Crota, oryx, zydron. I would die if we got stuff like that because it just feels so much more personal then.

your post about the wol feeling so incredibly isolated after being so seen by one person and one person only in zenos and the guilt that it brings is just [slams my fists on the table] YESSS!!! bc honestly my wol is on the same boat. i've been so so struggling to write about just how deep the loneliness gets to him personally bc it's such a bone-deep *thing*. journeying to tural is hardly a bandaid fix bc it hardly, if at all, addressed anything that the wol went through at the end with zenos. and the ending for ew was nigh unbearable for me bc we just LEFT HIM THERE and i was in absolute SHAMBLES

and yeah. how the hell do you explain to your colleagues that you're in love with the man that instigated in from the cold. the wolzenos ship has more layers than an onion could feasibly have and i love it so much to the point that it just haunts me, and i'm so glad to see other people are with me on this!

( You can really tell that I just LOVE angst by the way I go about things for Ayla and her story, lol. )

Tural kind of makes things ...a lot worse for Ayla, because everyone around her is happy to explore and to meet new people and she quickly comes to realize that it's kind of the exact opposite of what she needs rn? Suddenly she's allowed time to think about how she feels and to really STEW in her own guilt ,shame and loss. (and....fire and faith. I mean what. coughs. ) Which....kind of sucks? Majorly? It's fucking awful. She feels isolated because she's surrounded by people she does not know or even care about (not counting the scions, of course.) , and since she's got no real....goal this time around other than to just HANG AROUND she's really just having the worst time she could ever have. Like, the best thing to do would either have been to just lock her into a room w a therapist and have her talk and talk and talk until there's nothing left to talk about, or throw her at yet another world-ending threat. Something to distract her or force her to deal with her feelings, because pretending to be happy and adventurous IS NOT WORKING.

BUT don't forget that she'd also feel SUPER bad about feeling this bad, because mr big Z-man (the man, the myth, the source of her troubles, the legend. ) believed her to be ABOVE feelings of despair. [Ayla does a 1000-yard stare.] "help"

Because you're totally right! Even if it wasn't by choice we did just leave him to rot. After he saved the wol. Ayla thinks about that every day. And night. I think Shery is far less judgmental than Riel and is one of those ride-or-die BFFs who will go out of her way to justify rooting for you and shipping you with your chosen RO, so her opinions aren't as juicy as someone like Riel's, it's pretty universally always positive! 😂 For her, it'd go something like:

Blade: "oh, that's amazing, I can definitely see the two of you together and he certainly seems to have a soft spot for you! But how will that work with the no fraternization policy? 😥"

Trouble: "oh I love Trouble, and I know he loves you!! what a match made in heaven!"

Tallys: "that's so wonderful, I can tell you make Tallys so happy, I hope you two are happy forever! 🥰"

Imagine Ayla and Cayde buying a big ship so they are comfortable between scouts and missions. It's full of Ayla's knives and weapons and treasures Cayde collected during the years, his maps on one wall next to the small kitchen table.

Besides it, Ayla puts a big collection of photos of the people they know: an old photo of Amanda with her first Sparrow, Banshee asleep on his workshop- two stray cats napping next to him, Ikora with the ugly sweater Zavala knit for her for Dawning, the group photo they took with Madison and Simon during their winter holiday, Wraith wearing a tiara in Bee's tea party.

They start getting small plants from each place they visit, and soon they are everywhere in the ship- Spectre enjoys taking care of them a lot. Sundance likes to collect colourful gemstones.

They get the biggest bed that can fit in the crowded rest space- which is not much. But they have become so used to sleep cuddling and in each other's space that they don't mind it at all.

This is exactly how I would imagine them being. They would bicker at first, until finally they find a ship that works. It has the speed, the elegance, and the room they both need for everything they do. Plus Ayla would need a massive viewing window so she can watch the stars, just like the nook in the apartment where she could just watch the rain o3o I love this ^^

The power goes out just when they were in the middle of a movie marathon. Rebuilding the power plants is taking a lot longer than the City anticipated, so black-outs are part of the routine after the Red War.

Cayde is not complaining. Because he can hear the rain softly hitting the windows, the evening sky slowly turning from orange to purple, and Ayla warmth pressed impossibly close to him. She almost laying on top of him, leaving lazy, butterfly kisses against his jaw and neck; every place she can reach without moving too much. They are both on the brink of sleep, but enjoying this moment too much to put an end to it.

"I used to have dreams like this." She whispers against his neck. "Us. Doing grocery shopping, arguing what colour to paint the kitchen wall. Hell, I dreamt us doing taxes once. Of you adopting two stray cats and naming them Clubs and Diamonds while I was on a Flashpoint- their white hair got all over my black armours."

"Those sound like my type of dreams." He mutters in the dark, his metal fingers softly caressing her back when he feels her tense.

"Then I would wake up in a cold mat in my ship. And you were gone," She almost lets out a sob, "And when the Barons and Uldren were dead I thought 'Time to go home', but I knew you wouldn't be there. I realised that my real home had died on a metal prison floor and i-"

"Hey, hey. Don't go there." He wraps his arms around her and rolls a little so she´s on top of his chest. His own anguish makes his synthetic heart start beating faster with worry, and surprisingly the sound of it seems to calm down Ayla a little. "I'm with you, and I'm not going anywhere. Not again."

You made her feel like this, a voice in the back of his head says but he stomps it down. Later. One day, when they both feel strong enough they will sit down and talk all the unsaid things between them. But right now Ayla needs comfort, and he won't let his own pain stop him from giving it to her.

"We are here."

"What if this is also a dream?" She murmurs, and his most sensitive sensors pick up the wetness now on his neck. "What if I'm really alone in a dusty ship and you are buried in a cold grave."

Cayde struggles to find the words to say. So he spends a few minutes making circles on her back, softly humming when a strong sobs shakes her.

He finally speaks up, "This is our life now. Us together. And tomorrow, and the day after." He can't promise forever, no matter how much he wants to. Even if he knows his love for her is eternal. "We are real. This is real."

Confessions are easier to say in the dark. Ayla's voice is brittled with her vulnerability. "There is a part of me that's scared to believe it. Like I'd relax and be happy, and one day I'd wake up back there."

Cayde delicately presses his mouth plates against her forehead, softly heating them up with his Light so he can imitate the feeling of a kiss.

"Then I'm going to keep repeating it until you believe it. As long as it takes, and even longer after that."

It started off fluffy, then it ripped my heart out, and then it made it better and I'm stuck in that spiral because I love it. The worry, the comfort, the everything >.<
