#I don't know these thoughts turned out ore meandering than I thought they were and I can't refine them more because I have to head out

reading another book series where the only sane solution is throuple and I have no faith that that’s how it’ll turn out.
I just want to make a note to authors: My dislike of love triangles has been said louder and better by a thousand other people and I don’t want to tell you what tropes you can and can’t put in your book. I don’t know what your editors and publishers are asking you for. I’m also not trying to say every time there’s two possible interests they should be a throuple.
BUT let me tell you something about the dangers of dragging out a love triangle interminably if a triad is not what you’re interested in writing. If, by the end of book two there are still two love interests, they’re both full characters with their own motivations, they both still bring out different and meaningful sides to the female protagonist, they both love her and know about each other, she would be devastated with the loss of either, and if the dudes could get their heads out of their asses they could probably be good for each other too... what you’ve written is a throuple. What’s more - you’ve slowly developed a throuple over several books. You should make your ending honor the books you wrote rather than having us watch a character you’ve made us care about get their heart broken, make a villain turn, die, or get ruined by annoying jealously plot lines.
#you know why that means you've written a thouple?#real people don't angst over which of two people into them to pick for ages on end#that's just not a thing that happens#usually one person seems to be more in line with the relationship they want and they pursue that person#if there ARE two people who you've falling halfway or all the way in love with and you truly couldn't imagine saying no to either#then you've likely got a heroine who's poly on some level - which is great! write that story then#I don't know these thoughts turned out ore meandering than I thought they were and I can't refine them more because I have to head out#I hate love triangles anyway - I don't like to see people get hurt and if you write two viable love interests that means#they're two decent people and one of them is going to get hurt#q
