Pt2 of Charles Boyle x fem! reader
A/N: Took a little but it's here! Hope you enjoy!
When you fully woke up... to say you were confused would be an understatement. "Charles?" you questioned. He didn't know if he should answer or not but against his better judgement he did. "Yes, Y/N?" he questioned you back "What happened?" you asked as you set up, wrapping the blanket around yourself.
God, you looked ethereal to Charles in that moment. He wanted to wake up this everyday for the rest of his life. "Charles? Are you listening?" you asked again as he wasn't answering you "huh? oh! yeah, I don't remember much." he confessed. You nodded as you got up.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Throughout the next few weeks you noticed something about Charles. He seemed more nervous around you, He started to make your coffee for you, He even helped you with some of your paperwork. But you didn't have time to worry about him because you were late by a few days. At first you weren't concerned but it had been a week or two since.
You debated on telling your sister but it scared you to think about the possibilities. But you also knew you should at least get a test or two to make sure before you told her or anyone.
Walking around the small drugstore was nerve racking as you walked to the checkout with those tests. You felt like the cashier and everyone else was judging you and it felt as you couldn't get to your car fast enough.
You only took one of the tests but as it sat on your bathroom counter it felt as time was going to slow. When the timer you set went off it scared you, as you didn't know your mind drifted off.
Two lines
Two lines stared back at you. You didn't know if you wanted to smile or cry. So you did both. You were about to call your sister to tell her but then froze.
What would she say? Would she be happy? Would she yell? Would she help you out?
And oh god! What about Charles? How would he react? You weren't a couple. Would he help? Would he what this baby? What if he got mad?
No
No
You're getting ahead of yourself. Charles is the nicest man you've met. Even if he could be goofy at times, he was still a gentleman. You knew he felt something for you. It was obvious. But you were still scared of what his reaction could be.
What if you just didn't tell him? No, You'd never forgive yourself if you did that to him. What if you waited till after you went to a doctor? But what if he wanted to be there for you?
Too many questions and not enough time to answer them. You didn't know what you were going to do. So you called your sister to come over to your apartment. When she arrived you quickly pulled her through the door. "Wow! What's the rush?" She asked as she sat on your couch, watching as you started to pace back and forth. She noticed the nervous look on your face. "Hey, It's ok. You can tell me." she offered a smile.
You let out a breath you hadn't known you were holding. "I'm pregnant!" you blurted out but then covered your mouth with your hands. Your sister smiled softly "Hey....Don't cry. It'll be alright." she got up and hugged you. She rubbed small circles on your back as you cried. "Take a breath and tell me who the father is." she spoke softer than she normally did. You listened.
Taking slow breaths until you could talk. "It's Charles." you confessed "From work?" she asked and you nodded "And I don't know how to tell him." you sniffed and wiped your eyes. "Ok How about....I call him for you and tell him to come over and you two can talk?" she suggested. You smiled shakily and nodded once again.
You sat in silence as she called Charles. "He's on his way. Do you want me to stay?" you shook your head. You could do this! You're strong and confident! And you can definitely tell Charles you're pregnant and he's the father!
Once she left you sat the test on the coffee table, where you would have Charles sit once he arrived. The knock on the door made you jump slightly. You let him in and led him to sit on the couch in Front of where you placed the test. Charles just stared at it. You thought maybe you had been mistaken and maybe he wouldn't be happy.
Your eyes teared up again "I just thought you should know. I'm sor-" he interrupted "Don't finish that. You don't have to" he offered one of his signature smiles. You just stared at him. "If you want, I'll take you to the doctor." he offered and you nodded.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The doctor confirmed it. You were definitely pregnant. There was no doubt. You were scared but Charles assured you he'd be their.
To him it was the best thing in the world. You, him, and your baby. His and your baby. You could finally be his.
His only
His and no one else's
Yeah, that sounded nice
Just you and him with a baby
His baby

Jake and Amy's Arranged Marriage AU
(okay, first I thought uuuh, this is gonna be a tough one to find a background story for, and it might not be what you wanted, but... now it's like fic-level good in my opinion?! DANG it, I really don't have time to write a whole chapter-fic for this...) - Jake, moaning about how much dating sucks and how he's abstaining from relationships for the next... year, at least, is approached by a very reluctant Rosa about this friend she has, from Cuba, whose working Visa is running out and who is in dire need of a green card, because she could get the chance of taking over the bookstore she works at now some time down the line if she gets to stay in the US. She was going to ask Charles, but she's kind of afraid he's going to go Full Boyle on the poor girl, and Jake is a much safer option - (Amy's not a cop in this world obviously) - he's hesitant at first but if it helps Rosa? And one of her friends who's probably nice enough? Sure, why not, it's not like they'll actually be together, they just have to be roommates in his too-large-for-one apartment for a year or so, and lie convincingly to the FEDs, something he's pretty good at as a cop anyway - they agree to a first 'date'/meet up at a coffee shop to talk about it. The two first things Jake notices about Amy are: 1. Oh my good god she's the most beautiful woman he's ever seen, and 100% his type, maybe 110% 2. Oh my good god this is going to be difficult, because she's brought a binder and guidelines and a layot of rules and is Rosa insane, thinking this could work? - Amy dives right in, she's got it all figured out and organised and planned through, to make things as easy as possible for both of them - how they're going to divide up the apartment so it's not awkward, how they'll learn the background info they need for the questionnaires, how she's going to repay him for this huge favour he's doing for a complete stranger - Jake is... overwhelmed to say the least, but she seems so happy about her system, and she's smiling at him and laughing at his stupid comments, that he basically says yes to everything without really looking at it - they get 'married' at City Hall two days later, Rosa and Charles (who's surprisingly weepy for this fake-marriage) as witnesses, and Amy and her assortment of luggage moves in that evening. (She's still got her room in the shared flat with Rosa, because she's not an idiot who moves in with a stranger without safety nets, but it's not in her name so the authorities won't notice) - Jake actually bought a bottle of champagne because "this is all fake and the guestroom bed is ready for you, obviously, but I feel like we should still celebrate a wedding properly", and they spent a very sweet, friendly evening together, which... rings a lot of alarm bells in Amy's head, because that's not what she planned at all, and she is NOT developing feelings for this cop she just married, she is NOT. - they quickly settle into a pretty good roommate-living-situation, definitely becoming friends and far more than what Amy had planned. They do movie nights, cook (or try to cook) together, share silly stories and family anecdotes with each other, even go out on what Jake jokingly calls 'fake-dates' to 'practice' their roles for the eventual green card tests - but Jake's messy life, and his increasingly lax attitude to learning their background info and the fake history Amy has thought up anger her more and more. He's just being himself, thinking he's got it in the bag after reading everything just once, but this is her life they're talking about, her future, and he shrugs it all off like it's nothing - it comes to the point that they have a big fight before their first green card interview. "I'm sorry but I feel like you're not taking this seriously at all, being lazy and not caring-" "Well you know, it's not exactly my problem-" "Wow, really? This is how you're thinking about this? Thanks, Jake, maybe I should've asked Charles instead-" "Well you're pretty much stuck with me." "Forget it. Just. Forget it. I thought we were friends, but- you know what, don't show up for the interview tomorrow. I'll... I'll figure something else out." - Jake, after a night of thinking&drinking at Shaw's, does show up to the interview. Amy almost goes into panic mode. He aces all the questions. He even remembers things about her she's pretty sure she never put on her info sheets. And he certainly puts on a great show of loveydovey newlyweds for the conspicious bureaucrat in front of them, holding her hand, smiling, swiping some hair behind her ear... - as soon as they're back home and out of anyone's eyes, he drops it all, though, apologising for their fight and telling her he's going to keep his distance so he won't bother her, but he's definitely going to commit to it all more to not cause her any troubles. - the situation becomes far more roommates than friends after that. Jake is true to his promise - he keeps acing all the tests and interviews, but he's also keeping away from her as much as possible. (Except for making her morning coffee before she goes to work, and always ordering takeout for her too, and maybe keeping his place a lot cleaner than he ever would alone) - It seems like a great solution, and definitely the way Amy had planned at first. She's getting closer and closer to her green card, while also not bothering this stranger helping her out too much, and after it's all said and done they can split and get a divorce as soon as possible without raising suspicions. It's perfect, really. - Except. She misses movie night. Funny things happen at her work that she immediately files away as 'Gotta tell Jake about this later'. When she goes out on her free days, she wants to turn around to show him something or ask him something all the time, only to realise it's not one of their 'fake-dates'. - Nevertheless, they go through the rest of the green card process fairly smoothly (and distantly), but when she finally gets that letter that officially says she's an US citizen now, she can't keep herself from jumping into his arms from sheer joy. And maybe Jake has another bottle of champagne ready, the same as from their 'wedding day'. And maybe they empty it much faster than the last time. And maybe she doesn't sleep in the guest bedroom for the first time ever. - he's all awkward apologies and faraway glances the next morning, and she can tell he feels horrible, thinking he's taken advantage of her when she was drunk and overexcited from it all. "You can- uh- if you want, you can move back into your old room with Rosa, I won't tell anyone, I mean, I can lie if they still ask about it. And we can- I don't remember your time line sheet, sorry, Ames, but we can start the whole divorce thing whenever we can, just tell me what I need to sign and I-" "Jake." "Yeah?" "Do you want to go on a date with me? A not fake one?" - They don't really go on that date. They spend the rest of the day in bed instead. And they're back to movie nights, cooking together, going out on their free days. But Amy never moves back into the guest bedroom.
