Considering that my familiar is Quoth the raven, and Astarion does dramatic readings of The Tell-Tale Heart in his spare time (I diagnose you with theatre nerd), with props (which reminds me; I should give him a heart and a brain from Balthazar's office for his hobbies) I figure these nerds bond over gothic fiction. ...or is Quoth actually a Discworld reference...?

Also these probably are references to Edgar Allan Poe in-universe, the actual historic man, not some bard equivalent from Toril who just happened to write the same stuff. I wonder who introduced Poe's stuff into the Realms; there are hidden portals to Earth around, though people who know about them are few. Elminster, did you do this? Or is it those halflings again?
