Request: Number 25 from this list ❤ 25. “Let’s adopt twenty cats together and treat them like our children.”
Pairing: Connor Kenway x Reader (Reader is female
Note: Okay, I LOVED this request! It’s a little short, but still! Anyway... Modern setting with Connor and adopting animals because why not?
“Hey, Connor.” Y/N started, looking away from her phone and at the assassin, smiling when Connor’s eyes met her own.
“Yes?” Connor asked, head tilted slightly as he waited on Y/N to answer him.
“Let’s adopt twenty cats together and treat them like our children.” Y/N’s voice was even, holding a serious tone even though she was smiling at the assassin sitting just beside her.
Connor chuckled before looking away from her, shaking his head.
“We can not adopt twenty cats, Y/N. What if we can not take care of them all?”
“But, Connor! Hairy babies!” Y/N argued, smiling again as Connor laughed at her.
“We can adopt two cats, Y/N. One now, and another when we are used to having an animal living in the house with us.” Connor said, Y/N crossing her arms across her chest, trying to fake a pout but failing when Connor wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her close to him.
“We could go to the shelter and get one today, if you would like to do that.”
“Really?!” Y/N happily said, looking at Connor as he nodded before kissing his cheek repeatedly. “Thank you!”
Connor couldn’t help the smile on his face at Y/N’s excitement, tapping her shoulder lightly before moving his arm and going to stand up.
“Come on, then. We need to get ready to go get a cat, do we not?” Connor said as soon as he was standing, turning to look at Y/N. Y/N stood up quickly behind him, whose smile had yet to falter.
Y/N then took Connor’s hand, pulling him towards the door.
“Let’s go already!”
“Why must you sleep on my shoulder?” Connor murmured, gently moving the kitten from his shoulder for the third time, earning a loud ‘meow’ in response.
“Connor, he loves you, that’s why! I don’t blame him, really, you’re the best pillow in the world.” Y/N said with a cheeky smile, Connor shaking his head at her.
“He is though isn’t he, Revolver?” Y/N then said, taking the kitten from Connor’s hands.
Connor just smiled as he watched Y/N with their new, furry family member, noticing just how happy the cat made her already. It wasn’t as if they had chosen him, though- the 6 month old kitten had reached to the two of them through the front of his cage, and wouldn’t stop meowing at them until they paid attention to him. It just so happened that Y/N fell in love with his one bright green eye and striped fur- and the kitten had demanded to be placed on Connor’s shoulder while they were walking around the shelter.
This, obviously, led to their current situation: at home, on the couch, with a new kitten keeping them both entertained already.
And though Connor wasn’t a cat person, he felt he could become one with as much joy as little Revolver was bringing the woman he loved.
