It baffles me how Pokemon TCG Live has worse UI functionality than the older TCG Online that it's replaced. Makes it annoying to play what should be a fun card game and certain actions just feel tedious/sluggish.
Also, accessibility for reading text is horrendous. Lots of special cards with the reflective and detailed VFX where I can't even tell what they say. Which is important 'cause, y'know, the words on the cards are describing what the card can DO?
It's horrendous design. I could've sworn PTCGO had a plain text view at one point but removed that in their later version. And now it's carried over that way in Live. Why? What's wrong with these decision makers on the design and UX? Are they inexperienced students or something?
There's so much more I could describe on how much this game fails in UI/UX. And being a "Free-to-Play" game is no excuse. I'm a web designer. Websites are generally free to view/navigate. I take this stuff seriously since it's part of my expertise/profession. Don't downplay it.
All that I've learned in web UI/UX still translates over to game design. Many principles remain the same across those mediums. UI/UX will determine what viewer/playerbase you can retain based on what they're willing to put up with. Or if they can freaking see/read anything clearly at all. Geez.
