But then they get isekai’d into the game and proceed to avoid him like the plague because he’s very hot intimidating in person and also almost a foot taller than reader

Pulling him during his banner felt like winning the lottery, and you were notorious among your friends for your constant gushing over him.

“Look at him,” you’d sigh, zooming in on his model during idle animations. “He’s so perfect.”

Unbeknownst to you, Alhaitham was well aware of your doting admiration. The Traveler’s world (aka your world) wasn’t as disconnected as you thought, and your praises reached his ears like whispers on the wind. He never mentioned it, of course. What use would it be to comment on the opinions of someone from an entirely different dimension?

Then you woke up in Sumeru.

You weren’t sure how it happened, but you were here, flesh and bone in a world you once navigated with a mouse and keyboard (or your phone). The lush foliage and warm breeze were incredible, but so was the realization that you’d be meeting the people you once thought of as mere pixels.

People like him.

The first time you saw Alhaitham in the Akademiya, you nearly fainted. Not because you were starstruck—though you certainly were—but because he was much more intimidating in person. His presence was magnetic, his sharp eyes even more piercing than you could’ve imagined, and his sheer height made you feel like a mouse in the shadow of a falcon.

You ducked behind a bookshelf, heart hammering. No way. Absolutely not. You could not face him.

From then on, you avoided him like the plague. If you saw his hair glinting in the sun, you’d take another path. If you heard his voice nearby, you’d excuse yourself from the conversation and flee.

But Alhaitham wasn’t stupid. He’d noticed you skulking around, eyes wide as you scurried away whenever he entered a room.

“Strange,” he murmured to himself one day. “They seemed far more enthusiastic in their words before.”

Finally, your luck ran out. You turned a corner in the marketplace and smacked straight into him. His firm chest was like a wall, and you stumbled back, your brain short-circuiting as you craned your neck to meet his gaze.

“Careful,” he said, his voice low and measured. “You might hurt yourself running around like that.”

“I—I—uh—” Words failed you.

He raised an eyebrow, tilting his head. “You’ve been avoiding me. Why?”

Your face burned. Oh no, he noticed?! “N-no reason! You’re just—uh—very busy, and I didn’t want to bother you!”

His lips twitched, the faintest ghost of a smirk. “I don’t mind being bothered. In fact, I think you owe me an explanation for all the… glowing praise you’ve been giving me.”

You wanted to sink into the ground. He knows?!

“That’s—uh—it’s not—uh…”

He leaned in slightly, lowering his voice so only you could hear. “Am I still… perfect?”

Your knees wobbled. Alhaitham straightened, a satisfied glint in his eye. “I’ll take your silence as a yes. Now then, I believe I’ll see you around more often.”

And with that, he walked away, leaving you frozen, flustered, and thoroughly defeated.

Chat noticed the presence of another person in the room, and immediately bombarding Wanderer with questions like “who tf is that???” and “where did they spawn from???”

“Darling you’ve been streaming for 6 hours, take a break and eat first okay? Just call me when you need anything else.” You state, trying to resist giving him a peck on the lips.

Your boyfriend pauses his game, looks at you, then chat, and decides to pull your waist to his level to give you not one peck, but multiple.

Taken aback but not at all surprised from your boyfriend’s sudden show of affection, you lean into the kiss, missing the feel of his lips on yours.

Wanderer gets annoyed (again, this man is always mad at his chat somehow), and says that he can’t force you to show yourself to them, which his chat respects.

“Also their sweetness and cuteness is for me only, not my fault that you guys are lonely and don’t have a partner. Imagine that, what a massive L” he says to his chat, and they start arguing with him again. (someone save his fan base)

iii. HONEY REVEALLL !!!!!

Seeing that your boyfriend’s fans really liked you, you decided to tell Wanderer that you’re finally comfortable with sharing your face to the internet, which he was really happy with. Because god he really wanted to show of the love of his life to the world, and smash it in their faces that only he could have you.

You suggest to him that you do a cute little baking stream together as your face reveal, and he couldn’t deny the adorable smile on your face while suggesting it to him, so of course he obliged.

While he was setting up the cameras and you were setting up the ingredients you felt really nervous, thoughts of ‘what if they don’t like me?’ plagued your mind, and Wanderer sensed your uneasy demeanor. He came up to you and gave you a kiss that meant ‘don’t be nervous honey, i’ll always be here for you.’

He turns the stream on and immediately people start to come in, surprised at the change of scenery.

"Goodness..." Albedo would stare at the artwork of himself for a moment, trying to collect his words as even his pale skin turned cherry red. His voice would be shaky because of his flustered state and he'd mess up words whenever he glanced at the picture, but eventually he'd manage to say this,"I don't really know where t-to begin, I mean the art itself is impeccable, v-very stylised...and ehem...the artist clearly...k-knows their anatomy. I-...thank you for drawing me." He'd look away, his heart racing in his chest and his mind plagued with new thoughts like...would he actually look good in that situation...would people want to see it...should he...try it?

Wanderer would look at the picture, his eyebrows furrowing and his mouth hanging open for a second, "W-what the hell is this?!? Why am I w-wet in it??? Perverts!" He'd clench his hands into fists, putting on quite the show as he tossed the drawing behind him and stomped away like he's just been highly offended...even though deep down, he found it slightly...appealing. To think someone actually had the nerve to draw him so scandalously...perhaps he'd have to find the artists who had done so, just to show them how wrong of a choice they'd made~

So, Alhaitham seemed to be un-ickable once he set his mind - or heart - on you. You swore you tried everything: invading his personal space, stealing his food, pestering him to buy you things, etc. Somehow, nothing worked. Horrible, really. You'd never known his patience to be this boundless; it typically didn't take this much effort, if any at all, to bother him.

"Alhaitham, I'm cold," you complained as you tugged on the sleeve of his jacket.

"It's an air-conditioned lecture hall on a rainy day, which is why I told you to bring a jacket," he retorted.

"Yeah, but I didn't, and now I'm cold."

You were certain his eye twitched. Excellent. Until then he just sighed wistfully.

"What am I going to do with you, hmm?" he murmured as he pressed a kiss to your forehead. "My stubborn, spiteful darling."

If he noticed the way you blanched at his actions, he made no indication of it, merely scooting closer to you to bundle you in his jacket and embrace. "I don't suppose I need to make a habit of using oversized coats out to share with you?"

"I'm not cold anymore," you muttered as you tried to scoot away.

"Stay, it's comfortable like this."

His voice was soft. So were his eyes. Now that you thought of it, they had been for quite some time already. When was the last time you'd seen his cold, judgemental gaze? Moreover, when was that scornful stare last directed at you?

And so you stayed. Not knowing why or when everything seemed to have changed. Wondering just how much you ever actually knew about the man beside you, who so adoringly held you close to him.

The thought plagued you till the end of the lecture, and sitting beside him in the library for the nth time that month.

"Alhaitham?" You piped up.

Silence. A warm hand cradling your head, urging you to lean on him.

"Alhaitham. I hate you."

Another brief silence, and a barely audible "I know." It was neither upset nor offended, neither angry nor frustrated. Just a calm, factual, perhaps ever so melancholic "I know".

He knew? And he still acted this way?

"I also know you don't mean it."

"Alhaitham, if you think I like you because of that confession, it wasn't real. Alright? I lied. I wanted to distract you because you're infuriating, but I didn't think things would end up like this."

You'd expected your confession, the genuine one, to be met with anger, betrayal, anything of the sort. But all he gave was yet another almost apathetic "I know" as if none of it was important. The tense silence was begging to be broken, but your voice caught in you throat with every word you thought to speak. It ended being Alhaitham who spoke up first.

"And not even half of what you've ever said to me can be trusted. You don't mean it? I'm well aware. You almost never mean anything you say. I wouldn't know why - I couldn't - but I can only assume years of prattling fanciful sonnets and euphemisms have rendered words meaningless to you. Your words hold no weight."

Well, that sort of stung. But he wasn't done talking.

"Yet you never do anything you don't mean. When you were so one-sidedly absorbed in what little makeshift rivalry you'd come up with, you wouldn't so much as look at me for more than a few seconds. So I played along. You can't so much as force a smile for someone you dislike. So what am I to believe when you hiss that you can't stand me while cozying up in my lap?"

Ah. Curse him and his never wavering rationality.

the anemo archon simply let out an “ehe” and sat next to you. venti wouldn’t say it, but the way you looked sitting upon his statue made his heart flutter. even if it wasn’t truly him, the fact that hands shaped like his got to hold you and support you… it helped solve the small ache in his heart that you caused.

it wasn’t your fault, actually the opposite, but the idea of you not being his constantly plagued his mind. his songs became ballads of his yearning for you opposed to tales of mondstadt and its glories. the wind constantly reminding him of you and the anemo vision you wore like a necklace (he swore to himself that he didn’t make your vision smaller so you could wear it easier but alas).

venti was irrevocably in love with you and you didn’t know - not yet or perhaps you never will. he was one of the seven, an archon who was unsure of where he stands. you deserve better than a man who is using the form of another, better than a god who is considered weak and lazy.

“then how about a tune? i usually charge an apple but for you i’ll allow your presence as payment!”

“can i pick the genre?”

“of course! that’s the spirit,” venti pulled out his lyre and prepared himself.

you weren’t sure if it was the ambiance of the night or the fact that you still can’t quell the feelings you had for your beloved archon, but the way venti seemed to glow in the moonlight made your breath hitch. you sometimes felt as if he knew what he was doing to you, that every interaction with him seemed to make you fall even harder for him…how else would he manage to capture your heart so easily? it was a silly thought, though. as the archon who represents freedom, you knew there was no way he would invade people’s minds even if he could.

you gathered your courage before speaking, “a ballad about me? if you will?”

if only venti wasn’t an archon so he could curse upon them. or perhaps this was a chance? a confession shouldn’t be as difficult as it was. he was an archon who people placed faith in, an archon who has seen human natures ins and outs, an archon who could use his anemo in a way that can let him quickly escape if it goes wrong.

“may i speak to you instead? consider it spoken lyrics from the heart!”

you were unsure of what he meant but how could you deny him when he was excited? you didn’t have to know his excitement was a farce.

“of course venti. i can’t deny you.”

both of your cheeks seemed to get warmer at your statement. yours from the fact that you let some of your feelings show, and his from the idea that you may even have feelings at all.

“if it is ever uncomfortable, just let me know y/n,” venti smiled before putting down his lyre, “okay?”

“okay.”

“i’m sure you know the nature of how long i’ve been around and what that means. the countless people i’ve lost, the years hoping they’ll reincarnate, the fear of experiencing it again. i’m an archon of freedom but i can’t help but use my free will to run away. i can’t seem to do that with you though. you captivate me in ways i have never experienced, i sometimes feel as if i am still that wind elemental who was learning what it meant to have humanity.

i’ve fallen for you more deeply than i can understand. i thought i knew what love meant but you completely and irreversibly rewrote my definition of love.”

venti finally stops speaking and just looks at you and how you appeared in this moment. he was burning the image of you sitting on his statue with him, the moon gracing it’s light upon your face in a way that somehow makes you more beautiful than usual. if this ended in the worst way possible, he wanted to treasure his last moments with you.

“venti…i-“

you couldn’t process everything he told you. your brain seemed to be replaying the scene over and over again as it tried to process his words. you sat almost motionless before moving to wrap your arms around venti’s torso. you weren’t going to let a lack of words stop you from conveying your emotions, and luckily, the bard seemed to understand.

“did i render your speechless? my performances tend to be magical,” venti smiled as he placed a hand on top of your head.

“you should become a poet.”

he laughed as your voice came out muffled in his attire, hoping his body wouldn’t betray him and let you hear his beating heart.

“bard, poet, same thing with different titles...and speaking of titles, would i be allowed to call you mine?”

your heart started going impossibly faster as you pulled away from his embrace. you knew that as a bard, his way with words must be amazing but experiencing it like this was more than your heart could handle. you could only nod at him, trying to avoid his face by looking to the side. though, that only seemed to make it worse as you accidentally faced the statue.

venti eyed your reactions with enough joy that you’d think he has never been happier, though that is true.

“y/n, may i,” venti leaned closer to you, a hand now grasping your cheek, “may i make it official?”

as soon as you nodded your head in the slightest bit, his lips were already on yours. his free hand made home on your waist, rubbing small circles as he pulled you closer. his lips were almost dizzying and the slight breeze that came by (that venti swears didn’t happen) had you wondering if your body was shivering from the cold or excitement and nerves. and just before you could make a move to wrap your arms around his neck, he pulled away.

it seemed like eternity as he smiled at you, his face slightly flushed and his smile putting the stars to shame. and then, eternity was over as he placed his lips back on yours.

Before I drop the actual ask I just wanna say if you had happened to sell your soul to like the devil or something to be able to write the way that you do (I wouldn’t be surprised, your bird!xiao stuff has me bawling my eyes out) then I would totally give you mine out of gratitude for producing such lovely works. Anyways you can ignore this if it makes no sense or you simply don’t want to bother but I have an idea that I’d like you to consider that might be of some interest; I spent my 3am reading through the Shining Nikki Saga tag and it got me thinking about a creator from other similar games/medias. One that has been plaguing my thoughts in particular is a creator- especially Impostor!au- who’s from Honkai Impact 3rd.

A creator who’s a Herrscher, or maybe a Houkai beast or Pseudo-Herrscher the way that Benares is, or even just a standard Valkyrie.

But Just. A creator who isn’t helpless after their unfortunate isekai. They pull up in Teyvat, get attacked by the forces of whichever nation they land in, and their first reaction is “oh haha okay- TAKE THIS SUBSPACE LANCE DUMBASS‼️”

in terms of hi3, my mind is going to the “kill them with kindness? WRONG, herrscher of the void 🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌” meme. this is all i have to offer.

lie. from my limited knowledge i remember a unit who’s abilities centered around painting- dude, the mech suits? good luck killing me when i am a literal transformer. swords don’t do shit against 4tons of steel.

in terms of other various medias, my mind goes to, as always, minecraft. isekai!creator with creative mode. ender pearls for quick getaways, invisibility potions, potions for speed and fire resistance (which will come in handy should they start to pull out witch trial pyres), flying if they’re in creative mode, fireworks and elytras..… honestly, depending how much of the base media you want to pull over into genshin, pretty much any other media would work. i’m also thinking of demon slayer (for the sole reason it has been discussed on this blog prior) and specifically giyu’s “dead calm” breathing, but any of the others will do. depends on the media and a bunch of semantics about lore, but i’m not going to get into that.

redirecting back to mhy games strictly because of star rail (was that out when i first got this ask? god knows but it’s here now), specifically ratio’s burst. imagine being a hunter, seeing a Suspicious Person about, and in response they simply. construct a building of stone and steel out of nowhere, sending it crashing down in front of your platoon. nobody’s hurt, thankfully, but the earthquake echoes.

Wuthering Waves day 2.

I saw someone comment that Scar showing up was the highlight for them, but for me it was the opposite. His entire section with the village and the fake picture book was just so........ cliche and unimaginative. You can just tell they thought they were on to something there, but he's the worst character in the game so far.

Aside from that, they unfortunately didn't really link up the little side quests they send you on. You find out about a plague from twenty years ago and then just kinda drop that plot thread. You go toward the war front, see a vision of the general fighting there, and then... drop that plot thread, turn around and leave without even seeing the front line. You run into Scar, explore a random cult village, and then... he peaces out, we drop this plot thread, and that's it.

Since we're being purposefully sent on these little side quests, I figured they'd like... have something to do with each other?? But apparently not.

Anyway, it was at this point that I hit the level gate, but I also got dailies, so there's that.

Other points:

I finished the beginner banner. I didn't get lucky at all and had to do the full 50 pulls to get the guaranteed 5 star. I got the little girl healer. She's cute, but I'm not sure if I want to sub Baizhi out for her. I don't even know her.

I also got two dude who both use guns. I... should probably sub out Chixia for one of them. But Chixia is a fun gal, I don't want to leave her...

In terms of exploration, I don't mind the way the world looks overall, but it's kind of hard to tell which parts are interactable sometimes. It's not bad, but for some reason I don't feel quite the same mindless enjoyment as Genshin. Maybe I'll get more used to it tho. I still always forget to wall-run.

Combat requires way too much engagement for me. I don't want to parry and perfect dodge things, man. Surely there is a character who has great AOE and doesn't require brainpower to use.

I can't tell whether it's a glitch or what, but the dialogue got really weird near the front line. You can tell Yangyang that you saw the general before you actually get the vision of him, and then afterwards you have the option to tell her about him... and a woman in red, but I didn't see any woman in red...? Truly puzzling.

I am really wondering whether the government was giving some kind of subsidy for putting in a liondance character, between this guy and Gaming. I started his quest, and man. You could make a drinking game out of every time "lion dance" is mentioned.

I was stuck in a hell of never getting to be a fully realized person, I always had to piggy back off somebody else. My own fucking body was made up of all the other windsprites for fucks sake. I never was, and never will be a real person. WIll never have a real solid identity. It was taken from me before I could even try.

What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care about anymore?

uhh probably sakura/syaoran from cardcaptor sakura? very original i know i continue to be Very Basic. to be fair i was 13 and i’d just discovered what fanfic was so there’s that. now it’s more of a nostalgia thing? they’re cute but yeah not much else

probably sakura/syaoran or link/zelda from the legend of zelda, again very basic but technically i discovered fandom through zelda forums so

i honestly have no idea but i’m going to assume it was probably link/zelda just because of the forums (i keep repeating the same two ships over and over rip)

no. not in a public setting anyway. i tend to keep to the ships i like and steer clear of the ones i don’t, and if for some reason i come across one i don’t like enough times that it starts to annoy me i’ll bitch about it in private because i’m a big believer that occasional bitching with your friend group is healthy, or at the very least while not tagging it/censoring it so it’s not going to end up somewhere the people who do ship it can see it

Did you use to have any NOTP or have one currently?

i don’t think i ever had genuine notps before dmbj really, at most 99% of the time it’s not really what i’d qualify as a notp, more just ships i don’t really care for? but i don’t have any strong feelings about them either way. dmbj fandom is particular for me in the sense certain spaces and people have pushed certain ships onto me enough directly or indirectly i just immediately get annoyed whenever those ships pop up so i avoid them like the plague now. i’m not going to say what they are (even if if you know me you probably have an idea) but they do exist

Who were the couple in the last fanfic you read?

pingxie from dmbj the brainrot is very real 😂 though for lack of food i mostly read chinese language fics these days (reminds me i should also make myself some more food one of these days too)

absolutely no one is shocked it is once again pingxie my beloveds who’ve had me in a chokehold for the past two years now atp i am literally here forever help

Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together?

uhhh you know what i was going to say not really but actually. and it’s weird i have such strong feelings about this since i never hardcore shipped them anyway but ichigo/rukia from bleach i just refuse to perceive that is not the endgame

Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting?

not really? if anything the closest i can think of is zhongchi/tartali from genshin that i initially didn’t really understand the appeal of but i got curious and ended up liking it. i’ve drifted away from it now because i don’t really enjoy the genshin fandom in general, and i don’t agree with a lot of the takes on them but that happened i guess

Do you have any ship that, in the past, would've been considered normal but now you would be cancelled over?

honestly i can’t really think of anything besides hopelight from ffxiii? and i guess kaeluc from genshin but i also don’t super actively ship those it’s more of a casual thing. oh wait i thought of this coming back but i kinda vaguely like ardyn/noctis from ffxv also casually but that is definitely cancellable over material oops

What is your favorite crack ship?

i don’t do crack ships really because i’m Very Basic and have zero imagination so i need substance to connect dots 😂

What is the couple you read the most fanfics about?

i can’t tell if this is past or present tense so i’ll just answer both. if it’s purely the amount over time it’s probably a toss up between destiel from spn and soukoku from bsd. if it’s currently what do i read about it’s pingxie

What do most of your ships usually have in common?

this is such a loaded question, weirdly a lot of them start off with differing degrees of antagonistic or challenging/playful relationship going on (on the surface anyway) and it progresses from there, and the care is both intense but not so easily expressed. there are clearly exceptions to this exhibit a: pingxie but those tend to pop up more for some reason. this is not discourse by any means but for example it’s why i preferred klance over sheith and that’s all i’ll say about voltron because that’s a can of worms i refuse to open ever again. what i’m saying is sometimes i wonder why i’m not a heihua person because on paper that’s what i should be and yet here i am with the old married couple 500k slowburn of a ship instead 😂

What you absolutely hate in a ship?

i wasn’t sure about what to put here but @sunriseverse is right, anything that fundamentally changes either of the characters for the sake of the ship or a trope. fanfic by nature is ooc to a degree anyway, but there’s a difference for me between when people make the effort to understand the characters and how they work/would work together, and when they either reduce them to two-dimensional cardboard cutouts for the sake of smashing them together, or make them out to be something they’re not. even more so when it then becomes the Universally Accepted Fanon Characterization
