The previous anon articulated it so well bc I just saw what they're talking about and I'm honestly confused why they thought u were saying anything wrong like 😭😭 are we sure we have the same guy here? Aventurine while yes knows what being loved feels like, he's gone through enough things and changes in life that that little frame of reference won't serve him well, especially within a romantic context bc he doesn't have ANY reference.

I read what you wrote as him not really meaning to (even reread) and yeah, he wouldn't Purposely want to be abusive to his romantic partner, but it still borders on it. What a lot of ppl get wrong is that, emotional abuse doesn't have to always mean the perpetrator is fully aware of it themself.

Maybe bc I myself have bpd, but it's so easy to see. When someone's avoiding negative feelings they have about themself (jealousy, insecurity etc) they can easily externalize this blame (and for him, that's so much more likely, it's literally a defense mechanism) or even, projecting his own view of himself on how you view him only to end up upset. (And then, the random clinginess that comes after this pushing away, why would it happen if not for trying to convince you to stay even though what he keeps doing is generally not a good thing to do in a relationship?) He wouldn't have known healthy attachment, didn't grow up with a safety net to be comfortable with that, hell, he thinks people closest to him (in canon) are sort of "tolerating" him. Are we really surprised?

Like, you never said aventurine is doing it with intent or even awareness bc yea he isn't!! He'd realize some of his actions sure, but stuff like "pushing you away" is probably shit he genuinely considers good for you, and it's not even like completely wrong he's in a high and risky position. Doesn't mean it wouldn't hurt like a mf, and I think that's the biggest tragedy of it all, because he doesn't fully realize how bad his actions are from another pov, and it's not like a single Convo can get him to understand that.

I do still think they were right that I shouldn’t have used the word ‘abuse’. It’s a very loaded term, and I think abuse requires a power dynamic, which is something I think he would try to eliminate in a relationship. Like, yes, he is a powerful man and he sort of needs some leverage to stay in control (of both his own life and his relationship with you), but I think he fucking hates the idea of being “above you” in any way. (Though to be fair he still could unintentionally create an uneven power dynamic — he’s the one mostly in charge of when the two of you interact. I’m glad you’re pointing out that everything he does with the ipc is the same as what topaz does—but she doesn’t get the same fandom treatment. I’d argue that she also has a tragic backstory since her home planet was destroyed, albeit it was all off-screen.

also, aventurine is not trying to do something heroic by revealing the truth of penacony/the family/the watchmaker. he is trying to destabilize penacony so the ipc can take it over. usual ipc business. topaz is slightly different by trying to do ipc business with kindness (that still is basically coercion) but the end result is essentially the same. we don’t need to ‘apologize’ to them at all.

I don’t even like topaz, but the double standard against her in this regard is really dumb :/

i agree that topaz doesn't get same woobifying treatment as aventurine where ppl demand u suck him off on your knees, but on the other hand, i never saw her get any hostility\questioning from either fans or narrative. at the belobog we can't question her really, she just makes friends with bronya like its okay and we're even supposed to feel bad for her bc she's so ~kind~ and she was demoted. like i don't think its a problem that topaz doesn't have fans demanding ppl kiss her feet.

Hi I'm back!!! Again!!! Maybe too soon???

I know that you're an mpreg enthusiast, so I was worried that my foster parent route wouldn't be to your tastes. But I'm glad to see that it is!!

But also I do enjoy ratio mpreg. I just think it's something that would have careful consideration from both parties, and would probably only happen a few years into the future. If they did it early, even by accident, I don't think either of them would call it a mistake. But it is something that can alter the course of their careers, and sometimes you can't predict how it would go. I've seen teachers have to bring in their own babies because they couldn't find a suitable babysitter in time, and the stress of taking care of teenagers/adults as well gets to them. (But this is Yaoi World, so maybe it shouldn't matter as much as it does to me. The need for my yaoi to be vaguely realistic sometimes ruins my brain.)

So maybe Ratio's students would just dote and play with his daughter whenever he has no other option but to bring her along. Whenever Papa Aventurine comes by to pick her up, his students get to witness their strict professor get all domestic. And they get a moment of hope that surely he's softened up today and won't be as difficult as usual! But then someone gets chalk thrown at them and their hopes and dreams are crushed. (One user on the forums comments : At least they make a cute family lol.)

When it comes to biological children designs, I'm such a sucker for making the child vaguely resemble a dead family member. Maybe that's cruel of me to find joy in but still. Though, I am between making their daughter have blonde hair or have her eyes resemble Aventurine's. Or maybe make her have Ratios eyes, so as to make double sure the dawn is shining down onto Aventurine. Or something. That quote did something to me ok. (Also I went to research genetics again, but then decided that family fluff is more important. Fuck logic. Whatever gives me the most joy.)

i feel u on the realism in yaoi, there's only so much suspension of disbelief that i can take b4 it gets too much.

tho that being said i'm sure they could find a babysitter/ daycare with all that money and influence they have. but in the times when they can't find someone to take care of the kid they take turns taking her to their workplace. depending on the work load one might stay at home and just do stuff online (i mean whenever aven isn't being a menace, i assume he works a normal office job).

as for the design i'm a sucker for their daughter to look like mini aventurine, but like sometimes she looks too much like his sister and aven has to do a double take (also ur not cruel at all 4 that, i do that all the time with fankids lol). honestly screw genetics, i just put them in a blender and see what comes out of it :D tho i have 2 other daughters for them. the middle child has purple hair + aven's eyes while the youngest has like blonde hair + ratio's eyes. i also have like whole personalities made up 4 them and what kind of jobs they'd have (i am very invested in them).

ur fic did things to me ok?!!! i was giggling and kicking my feet all the way thru. ughhhh i loved it a lot ok??!!! i felt so so bad for ratio, but the hurt was so good. i'm actually obsessed with the fic, god ratio ddne is so delicious and we as a society should embrace that.
