Malleus doubled over as he clutched his chest where his heart lay in jagged, broken pieces.

“How…” ‘How could this be?!’ He couldn’t believe it. He didn’t WANT to believe it.

But whether or not he believed it, the truth was still there.

Silver, the boy Malleus raised along Lilia. The one to whom the Prince taught magic, spent every birthday with, who became his knight so he could protect him, the human child he loved—was the son of the man who killed his mother.

Malleus gritted his fangs together as blot flared within him like the flames of a dragon.

‘All this time, Lilia knew?’

Lilia, the man who had been the friend of his parents and the general of Briar Valley, who hatched Malleus, knew this whole time?

Did the fae really know that Silver was the son of the man who killed his mother before he was hatched? That Silver carried the blood of those who stole and destroyed their land? And yet he still took the human child in? More than that, he had the gall to have Malleus babysit him on several? Let the human become his retainer? Let the two love each other as family?

Malleus’ claws tore into his face, which contorted in agony as if to rip the skin off him.

Tears of black ink rolled down Malleus’ face. His teeth sank into his lips till he drew blood as his throat burned with the urge to scream, to cry out. But he didn’t. Rather, he swallowed his rage and it settled in his chest.

There, it became a fire that burned away all the love he once had for the human child he raised and the fae who raised him, turning it all into sorrow and hate.

“I will never forgive you,” he stated into the clouds of the dream, words hollow with the bitter truth. “Never.”

not going to put this on the actual post because Why but there's a 'kids these days can't use technology' post going around rn which laments that children can no longer use vital technology such as emails or rotary phones and like. i will be real. the inclusion of the latter kind of put into perspective for me that perhaps children not having a natural aptitude for certain things is more indicative of the current relevancy of the technology (outside a business context) than any failing on the part of children

as a white autistic… this is 100% correct. you can absolutely put in the effort to unlearn stereotypes etc even if you have autism (…or, you know, avoid being racist in the first place).

same thing with sexism. sexual harassment is still NOT OKAY if you have autism- and frankly, autistic women seem to avoid participating in it just fine. it’s not an ‘autism’ problem, it’s a misogyny problem.

autistic people deserve accommodation for things like sensory issues, grace in social situations, etc. we don’t deserve to be bullied for being obviously different. but it’s not a “get out of jail free” pass for poor behavior

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼���" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

the thing is that childhood doesn't just end when you turn 18 or when you turn 21. it's going to end dozens of times over. your childhood pet will die. actors you loved in movies you watched as a kid will die. your grandparents will die, and then your parents will die. it's going to end dozens and dozens of times and all you can do is let it. all you can do is stand in the middle of the grocery store and stare at freezers full of microwave pizza because you've suddenly been seized by the memory of what it felt like to have a pizza party on the last day of school before summer break. which is another ending in and of itself

Bruce definitely trained all the Robins to abandon him if things got bad. He'd give them scenarios like him trapped under something in a fire, hypothermic conditions, he's too injured, and they need to get information to Lucius, and the list goes on. And to date, the only bit of training his kids have continually failed, whether in simulation or practice, is failing to leave him behind.
