lights my cigarette. i'd actually argue that the treatment of fighters in general as objects to be owned could easily be taken as an extension of loveless's running commentary on how children are treated by society as property. even though a lot of the sacrifice-fighter pairs we see are same-age, it's about the idea of a relationship where one person has complete unlimited power over the other; where refusal of that person is taboo at best and impossible at worst; that is a fixture in (that part of) society, and operating outside of or distorting that relationship is incredibly taboo.

this is one of the things that makes ritsuka and soubi's dynamic so interesting. they're two people who have been treated for their entire lives as subhuman: ritsuka as a child (who has been unpersoned multiple times over by his parents) and soubi as the "ultimate" fighter (who repeatedly asserts his need to be treated as an object; whose sexual abuse as a child warranted disgust and exasperation with the perpetrator, but not disengagement from; etc). two very different relationships with their own (un)personhood. how yun kouga referred to soubi as "an adult in body only." god.

Sexuality Headcanon: i'm sorry have you SEEN anatole kuragin. that is a BISEXUAL if i've ever seen one. also the only allo kuragin sibling congrats anatole ur lame /j.

Gender Headcanon: idk i kind of switch around genders with anatole a lot lol. my rational side says that it's pretty important that the kuragins are cis but the medallion says that's dumb so we're not gonna do that. like idk that is a coat for a nonbinary person..

A ship I have with said character: now that is just cruel. still not saying it idc.

A BROTP I have with said character: now hear me out for a bit ok,, marya b, but not in, like, quite an actual friendly relationship way? more as in, like.. anatole does much dumb and marya sticks around because if she doesn't stop him then who will bother to, dolokhov??? HELENE????? this also came out of the idea of what their marriage would be like if they had actually gotten married that one time. it's just fun to think about.

A NOTP I have with said character: idk natasha i guess. oh and helene obviously. anatole what the fuck. AND marya b, in a romantic sense, because i still get a kick out of their potential loveless marriage lol. basically just anatole stay away from women you don't deserve any of them. nor most of the men.

A random headcanon: hmm i didn't think i'd ever have to,, think about anatole, ok let's see, i def have some headcanons of him,,,,,,,,,,,,,, OH yh yh i know, in modern au anatole DEFINITELY owns a chihuahua. there is NOTHING you can possibly say to convince me otherwise.

General Opinion over said character: fuckin gross genuinely hope he gets a piano dropped on him. fr tho i actually have a lot of thoughts on anatole's character but it's far too late rn and i can't think coherently so i'll make a post about that some other time. basically i think he's ugly and horrible and he smells. BUT,, i do enjoy him. he's still a fun character and he has lots of potential tbh. you could def work with him.
