"Opening in five," every compartment opening gets a countdown. A full on announcement, as if it were about to be celebrated. The mech itself is turned off, fully inert, and folded in on itself, but there's still one last problem. "Four." The pilot herself. Incensed with combat stims, and alight with hormones, there's no telling what she'll do once the cockpit peels itself open. Perhaps she'll be frothing at the mouth, violent and furious. "Three." Perhaps she'll be glassy-eyed, screaming and despondent. Perhaps she'll be soaking, sweating and horny. Any choice is as bad as the other — especially for the poor sod who has to deal with it. "Two." The little entourage around the cockpit level their stun-guns, ready to protect the pilot from herself, as soon as she emerges. Something's going to happen, either way; the bodyguards are sure of it. "One."
The key is pressed, and the port goes silent, save for the hissing, clicking hydraulics of the Abbaciss apparatus. Slowly, but surely, the cockpit careens open until one of it's sharper edges clinks against the floor plating politely. Nothing. There is no pilot for a moment. No frenzy of arms, no stink of fluids. The bodyguards lower their weapons, sorely disappointed. One of them is kicked forwards by their compatriots — go check it out. Almost tumbling, Janna stabilizes herself with a hand to the heated hull of the killing machine she's supposed to be guarding. "H-Hello?" She murmurs, lowering her head so she can look up the gloryhole of the much-adorned mecha.
I slither out. Like a sack of sopping meat-hunks, I'm fed onto the floor, feet-first. I lay there, spat out from my sacred safe-space, and onto this chilly, pristine-clean surface. "Uh." I make some kind of noise, as is protocol, to let everyone know that I'm out safely. I'm a pile of bodysuit-plastic leather and lithe skin, but I'm out. Safely.
"U... Uh?" Janna tries to repeat the noise I've made, staring down at the glimmering mess beneath her. I'm soaked with sweat, as is expected, and covered in input bruises. "Abbaciss, are you... Okay?" Realizing that she's not allowed to ask that yet, Janna's spine straightens as she switches into professional mode. "Senior Abaciss, please confirm your condition." She barks out, her eyes no longer looking down at me. The stun guns are gone at least; completely lowered once the bodyguards are assured that I'm not threat.
My modulator clicks into the ON position as I prepare my throttled vocal chords for the stress of speech. "Dees-app-pointed." I grunt, the mechanics doing all the work, as I can barely bring myself to even speak properly. "Dees-at-iss-fied." My mouth is open, but making no real effort to do much at all. I beep through my words, hooking my arms under my thighs and wrenching them in close.
Janna looks to her squad for any kind of answer, and then swings back, rolling her eyes. Dissatisfied. That's a long word, for a doll. "Abbaciss..." She begins, breaking protocol once again, just to reach down and pat the little pilot on the head. There's no reaction. "What's wrong? You completed the mission, all fine. All's green." Just realizing she's volunteered to be a military therapist for a downtrodden doll, Janna just facepalms, and sits down. She might be here for a moment.
"Didn't kill eh-nuff." I murmur, my eyes watching as Janna's face drops down to my level. "Not eff-fish-ently eh-nuff." I squawk, revelling in my own depression. I want to tear this bodysuit off. I want to get back in the shell-frame, and march back out to the killing pastures. I want to sink my nails into something that'll scream. My own body would do.
"But... It was a scout mission, Abbaciss. You didn't need to kill anyone." Janna's head cocks, full of the puppy-energy she was made to put out. "If anything, it's better that you didn't make a mess." She pats me again, rubbing away at my perfectly-shaped hips and trying not to finger or fiddle with any of my tech-inports.
"Should have done more." I respond instantly, as if I have a routine script for this messy kind of conversation. Perhaps I've already run through it a billion times in my computational core. "Much more. Empire isn't safe if I don't kill." My voice lowers, so only Janna can hear. "Forward base isn't safe." Swallowing my dignity, my real voice manages to come out, this time. "Home isn't safe. Friends aren't safe." My body shakes and wracks itself with disappointment as I remind myself just how grievous the imagined failure I've committed is.
"Fuck..." False alarm. Janna can't help but laugh a bit. Her hand rubs my shoulder, and then finds the control handle I have attached to the base of my neck. "You're fucking cute." She's inches from bursting with affection. Fastening her fingers around my control handle, she drags my corpse in close and — and hugs me. "Look. I've got some spare rationmarks. How about some ice cream, Abbaciss?" Trying to straighten her mouth as it does backflips, and twists in loops across her face, Janna quickly finds there's no helping her. She's been bowled over by my accidental display of adoration. There's only one thing she can do; with her right hand lifted up in the one moment, please hardcode, she uses her left arm to bring me in closer, and squeeze me until I make a little peep of satisfaction.

After playing a game of mahjong, which he utterly lost, Joss excused himself and finally made his way upstairs. Feeling tired Joss kicked open the door and while still walking towards the bed he started chugging the bottle of vodka. His eyes narrowed at the pleasure bots in sleep mode. “Adonis mode, eh? That’s a hard pass thank you very much.” He walked over to the terminal and changed the body type to normal. Satisfied he closed the door and started to undress. He had milky off-white skin adorned with old battle wounds. He laid on the bed and activated the male and female bots from their operations panel near their backsides.
The female bot had soft features and raven black hair . She was wearing a pastel see-through nighty whose trim was adorned with faux pink fur, while the male wore a gray mesh jockstrap and harness. The female straddled his side kissing him deeply while her hands slowly crept down his broad shoulders, then to his backside and finally within him while the male removed Joss’s briefs slowly and aroused him leaving a trail of saliva cascading down from the bed-sheets to the floor. Suddenly their eyes went red, which Joss immediately took notice of, and then in a jerking motion, their hands folded back revealing a pair of long blades ready to impale the gumshoe. Joss rolled back just in time to see the bots stab each other.
The bots unphased sheathed their blades as Joss said, “it’s not polite to use teeth you know!” Confused the bots cocked their heads and Joss sighed. Then the female bot changed form into that of an arachnid with her head dangling whose visage was akin to Munch’s ‘The Scream’ while the male bot changed form into that of a golem with spikes covering his hardened skin. Popping his knuckles Joss said, “Alright bitches…let’s boogie!” The bots launched evasive maneuvers attacking from both the rear and aerial directions, but Joss avoided the assault with a single step then having noticed their weak spots applied a barrage of precise blows to areas where the transformations originated. A spray of hydraulic fluid soaked the floor. The male bot grabbed the bottle of vodka with the intent of turning it into a razor-sharp implement, but Joss quickly snatched it away saying, “the booze…really? Today’s bots have no self-respect,” and slung it back on the bed. Again, the duo launched towards Joss with their blades, but the gumshoe easily deflected the strikes. Pinning down the female bot he used the male bots blade and pierced her cranium. Just as quickly his left hand in the shape of a mantis claw grabbed the male bots throat and ripped with such force that the head propped in the air for a few moments and then finally plummeted with a loud thud. Their eyes went from red to pale blue, pale blue to milky white, and finally colorless.
Quickly he dressed and made his way towards the door. Stopping himself he grabbed the bottle of vodka and chugged the remains and tossed it on the bed. Walking into the foyer with his gun ready Xian laughed, “Oh, it seems my bots failed. What a pity,” while revealing a garrote wire, “I don’t have much time to play, Joss, so let’s make this quick.” She rushed at him so fast that the paintings on the walls fell from their frames but as if time slowed down Joss pressing his hands on her shoulders propelled himself over her with a single flip and shot off a few rounds in her left arm. Responding in turn with her right arm she threw a dagger which grazed his chiseled face. The two rushed at each other throwing a series of blows with the final connecting with both Joss and Xian. Joss laughed as blood trickled down his cheek. Her face red Xian said, “You won’t be laughing for long,” while waving the shot glass. “Oh, you poisoned it. I am hardly concerned doll face,” he replied. Tossing the glass in his face and using the chance to charge at him with her laser blade she nearly stabbed him in the chest. Deflecting the tip of the blade against her right arm Xian fell to the ground in agony. “Are we done?” Joss said as he pulled out a set of energy shackles. Kicking herself back a few inches she back-flipped and, in the process, connected with Joss sending him back a step or two. Realizing she was outclassed Xian jumped out the window and seemingly disappeared into the fog of night. “I got to stop drinking with strange women,” Joss grumbled.

Search by a weird by-gone pool of ghostly bookkeepers, dipping quills into inkwell, hunched over open accounting ledgers. lofted yellowed fluorescent tubes expanding with a flush shady ceiling. a gloom sandwiched chill atmosphere.

While he paces, a gnawing patience at ending the tour, with the dispatch manager disappearing a distance short of a security guard at the gateway to the street. While my eyesight lags across the two-way broad driveway, a chief mechanic wax and holds conversing, with long stride from the vacant right repair bay’s shadows lingering a native assistant. Behind me they across the broad concrete yard’s turning circle suitable for horse and trailer to the courtyard's depth. Head toward a few Mercedes stripped to the cabin, undercarriages to remain in part wheeled to salvage Mercedes truck spare parts.

While across the middle aisle, in the room's rear, a clerk talks a handset speaker cup to his ear, the microphone to his jaw, with the horn attachment hooked on his collarbone. A pen in hand. He riffles an order book, fingers spider crawl, removing carbon papers to slip in between the next pristine pages. Ready to distribute the original, and distribute carbon copy through the administration, and proceed to manufacturing. 
While a dispatch clerk processes delivery notes to accompany the waiting driver on his delivery, Mr. Eidelstein turns away. He strides outside, turns up the driveway. Short of approaching the street, he ascends the perron to a side door niche in the corner. I’m left to catch the door, Mr. Eidelstein distancing along an offside glass partition, to disappear. 
Around the corner, I’m facing the backrest at an angle, catch up as the old-man Eidelstein edges by the coffee table, lowering himself sprawling arms. Hands lay on the matching wide plush couch sides cushions, telling. ‘_Not next to me!_’ But facing his executive suite, walls framed the man’s hobby, pictured with a piper. Meet his glazed eyes, as he figured, in front of the glazed partition, the passageway buffer blurs the sky over the factory sheds’ roof filtering light.  
With an eye, Mr. Eidelstein nods. ‘_Take a seat._’ I’m reticent, with a flashback to my apprenticeship days — With my father, de P’pa, seated in a grandfather chair. While my employer, Mr. Haas, returned from a far corner of the fireplace’s build-in-desk, to present around a box of Cuban cigars. Father doesn’t smoke, but I obliged, picking a cigar. Mr. Haas, the Cuban cigars, to lower himself in the nearby lounge chair, talks to father, but eyed me, smoking, saying. “You’ll never become a Master Builder.” Unfazed. ‘_As if I care. I’ve done two years!_’ The thought of three more years under his foreman, “Oom Jan” was inconceivable. Dizziness overcomes me, but maintained my composure, until shaking hands glade to step outdoors, gulp in fresh air.
Mr. Eidelstein talks, while I’m seated on the edge of the chair. In mind the egress door in the corner of my left eye, to the endless corridor. After his discourse, explaining the sales clerks’ need for a user-friendly order process, he excuses me.
I returned to the niche, contemplating the earlier text scrawled booting, reasoning. ‘_IBM PC! What have you got in your belly?_’ I pull the chair and sit, my fingers type at the “MS-DOS C:\” Prompt entering, “SQL. Enter.” To initiate Oracle’s database and spreadsheet, I alternated glances with the help file reading and testing. A slender figure, appears from behind the door leaf, hailing. “I’m closing up. ‘_You have to leave now._’ Hurried me to my feet, with a swift exit from Oracle, switched off the IBM PC, turning away, mapping my course outdoor to drive across the city to Knowles’ house.
I’m arriving at Duro Industries, settle by the niche IBM PC. Boot text afresh. Returned to my desk, the dot matrix printer - ERRRNK...CHK-CHK...PRRRK - listing my work. I returned to Mr. Eidelstein, handing a neat stack of square continuous paper. Then spun away to coil back into my seat behind the IBM PC monitor. Until I’m breaking - Ring - ring - ring - Mr. Eidelstein called me back. I uncoiled, revert to approach his hefty antiqueish wooden desk, as he leans over a desk pad to the few stacked perforated paper — I saw red, childish likes of my elementary teacher’s corrections — with a welder’s scribbles margin over the black printed ink, and the extent of the blue-bar. Reworded, dwindling from the top, dribbling red ink a third down the page, abandoned rewriting the remaining door frames. 
The burly old-man glare — throwing the sheets of papers fluttering back in my face — contained being misunderstood, saying. “_’This is not user-friendly_!’ How can the sale staff read this?” I realized Eidelstein wasn’t open to hearing me out, I responded without voice. ‘_They’ll get used to codes upfront, a description wrapping up until printing out the invoice_.’

A Bum Steer
Parts arrived!  Time to put the steering in order on Sacrebleu!  First, let’s get all the equipment out.  Hydraulic jack, jack stands, tool cart.  Pull Sacrebleu in front of the garage, line the jack up on the underside of the engine cradle and begin lifting the front end into the air.  Oops, I don’t have the jack centered well enough, Sacrebleu is rocking a little three wheel motion.  That’s not going to work.  I lower the jack slowly, and try again.  Ok, even with the mechanical advantage of the long lever, AND the hydraulic advantage, Sacrebleu is HEAVY!  This time goes better, and both wheels slowly leave the ground.  The jack shifts, rolling forward further under the car, as the pad of the jack pulls the frame along with each pump raising the car.  Finally there’s enough clearance to get jack stands under the A arms, carefully positioning, then lowering the weight onto the stands.  I leave the jack in place with some tension on it, as a safety measure.  Now’s the time to capture video of the slop between the center link and the pitman arm, after a few false starts, I get enough video to create a gif with.

  A quick examination of the fasteners leads me to go back in the garage and come out with the tools I didn’t grab before.  A pair of needle nose pliers for the cotter pins through the castle nuts, a set of 3/8″ drive semi-deep impact sockets, and an electric 3/8″ drive ratchet.  I start with the pitman arm, using the pliers to pry the cotter pin off the nut before straightening the pin and pulling it back through the nut.  I try to get the ratchet on the nut, but there’s not enough room.  I go to the tool cart, and grab a flex head 3/8″ drive ratchet, and with a bit of oomph, the nut comes loose.  I repeat the process three more times, at the idler arm, and both inner tie rod ends.  All the fasteners are off, the only thing holding the center link in now is the friction of the press fit of the tapered shafts for the link itself and the inner tie rod ends. I experimentally give the ends of the tie rod end a few taps with a maul, with little success.  I hit it a little harder, and think I’m getting somewhere.  I go after the end of it with a will, and end up having made no progress, and my muscles are exhausted.  I experiment on the other tie rod end, with a similar lack of success.  I pause, think for a moment, and with a bit of dread, try to thread a castle nut onto the inner tie rod…nope.  Ain’t happenin’, bro.  I’ve mushroomed them, and am going to have to replace the tie rod ends on both sides.  Greaaaaat.  This still doesn’t solve how I’m going to get the center link loose from the pitman arm, idler arm, and inner tie rod ends.  The only thing that comes to mind is buying a pickle fork.  It’s a heavy, drop-forged tool that splits the press fit pieces together with judicious application of a maul.  Ok, fine.  Off to the auto parts store I go, it’s a mile up the road.  First, I wash up and dust off, brushing as much of the dirt and dust from my clothes before hopping in the car.  That chore finished, I find myself standing in the parts store, facing the counter, being helped by an associate.  Oh!  The gas cap on Sacrebleu needs to be replaced, I can order one while I’m here.  While doing that, I notice that the parts store has a tool rental program, where you “buy” the tool, and if you return it within 48 hours, they refund the money.  The pickle fork is part of their tool loan program, so I buy/borrow it and head home.  Once I’m home, I waste no time crawling back under Sacrebleu, and in less than 5 minutes, I have the center link freed from both the pitman and idler arms.  That just leaves the inner tie rod ends.  I position the pickle fork, but there’s no room to get any real force on the end of the fork.  I suppose it would be fair to say I’m in a bit of a pickle.  A few moments of consideration, and I’m carefully lowering the jack, bringing all the weight of the front end of the car onto the jack stands.  The stands take the load, I take the jack and position the lifting pad under the pickle fork end.  Then, I start pumping the jack, slowly pressing it against the end of the fork, letting the weight of the front end bear on the fork and the joint.  Suddenly, the parts come loose, with a bit of a jump and a jerk.  Success!  Triumph!  Only one more inner tie rod end remains to be separated, and the center link will be free!  I manhandle the jack over to the other side, line up the fork, and repeat the process.  Oho, this one isn’t going as smoothly as the first, and I end up lifting the front end of the car BY the fork AT the joint, OFF the jack stand.  Yeah, that’s not safe.  I reposition, and try again, with the same result, but with the added bonus of Sacrebleu trying to shift off the jack stand laterally!  Ok, what about hitting the joint while it’s under tension?  Sure, why not?  What could go wrong with hitting the end of the tie rod end with a thousand or more pounds bearing on it.  Um….yeah, no.  I lower the jack, free the fork, and give the tie rod end stud a few good whacks.  When I get everything repositioned, the stud pops free of the center link, and the link is now loose at all four points.  I pull the tie rod end studs free, leaving the center link held in place by the idler and pitman arms.  A bit more wrangling, a bit of persuasion with the maul, and the center link is free!  
Installation is the reverse of removal.  (Again, iykyk)
Hanging the new center link from the pitman and idler arm is easy, I run the castle nuts down just to hold it in place.  I’m done for the evening, because I need inner tie rod ends.  This is a good time to take the pickle fork back to the parts store, and see about ordering parts.  Checking their online portal, it shows the value line (Read: Cheap) steering components available next day, and the quality ones not available next day.  Driving back to the parts store with the tool and receipt, I work with the person at the counter, order a new locking gas cap, and the value line inner tie rod ends.  That’s it for the day, there’s nothing more to be done.
*12 hours later*
I call the shop doing the work and speak with H, he recommends replacing the rest of the steering components, adjusting sleeves and outer tie rod ends.  I decide to get the adjusting sleeves and leave the outer tie rod ends alone, that way I don’t have to borrow the pickle fork again.  Midday, I pick up the parts from a store near work, top quality stuff from my preferred parts company.  The company discount saves me $45, about 35% off retail.  Nice.  The remainder of the work day passes, soon I find myself home, new parts ready to be installed.  I still need to remove the old inner tie rod ends and adjusting sleeves, and the passenger side seems a bit resistant to coming free, but with a bit of leverage, working smarter, not harder, I free the inner tie rod end and adjusting sleeve all as one assembly.  The new hardware is laid out, ready to be installed, I take a minute to get some anti-seize lubricant on the threads of the sleeves, to help prevent galling.  By some miracle, anti-seize ends up only on the threads.  I run the new tie rod end to the sleeve, match it up for approximate length to the one I just removed, tighten the clamp nut, and begin installing it in the car, threading the adjusting sleeve onto the outer tie rod end, down to where the previous sleeve had been threaded.  A little bit of fiddling gets the tie rod end stud lined up with the center link, and the castle nut is threaded on loosely.  Repeat for the driver’s side, and it’s time to torque to spec.  Climbing from under the car, I go in the house, wash up, and grab the factory chassis service manual for the car. A few minutes later, I have the torque specs for the fasteners.  30-50lb-ft for all but the pitman arm, 30-40lb-ft for the pitman arm.  I decide to go 35lb-ft for the pitman arm and 40lb-ft for the rest.  Applying the torque wrench, I go around and tighten everything to spec, then check it.  Once everything is torqued, I only have to tighten one castle nut to line up the groove for the cotter pin, sweet!  I decide to check the steering, but this time, there’s NO movement.  I can’t shift anything, everything is right and tight!  For the last time, I climb out from under the car, clear all the tools, and position the jack on the engine cradle/crossmember, this time to lift it off the jack stands.  The front end rises, I snag the jack stands, pulling them clear.  Carefully, watching the car closely, I open the pressure relief valve on the jack, slowly.  Sacrebleu returns to all 4 wheels on the ground, and with relief, I pull the jack away.  All that’s left is putting away the tools and equipment, and washing up.  A non-event, a necessity nonetheless.
The following morning, driving Sacrebleu to the shop, I’m thrilled with the change in steering.  Sacrebleu no longer darts as though she’s trying to kill me.  Once I arrive at the repair shop, H puts it up on the alignment rack, lubricates all the fittings I forgot to do, sets the steering wheel straight, and pronounces my work good.
