I also spend a lot of time trying to convince people to prevent problems, because prevention still works better than cures. Don't fucking smoke! I would instantly become the best doctor who ever lived if I could just convince all my patients to quit smoking. Avoid alcohol! Don't do meth! Don't do fentanyl! Things that are poisons will poison you in ways you understand, in the short term, but also ways you can't really understand until you've watched dozens of people die from it thirty years later, struggling to breathe from their COPD or weak and nauseated beyond bearing from their end-stage liver disease. I watched a man take 3 weeks in the ICU to die from what meth did to his heart. Your heart isn't meant to beat 145 times a minute for weeks on end. Your liver isn't meant to metabolize 5 shots of gin a day. You aren't going to be able to use denial and willpower to repair the damage your own habits did.
I drink a lot less now than I did before I went into medicine. Lot of different reasons, including that I'm older and more settled. But I can't look at it the same way I used to; I can't brush off as a "fun quirk" what I know is alcohol use on a level that risks withdrawal seizures if they were to suddenly stop, like some of my family members do, nervously asking me about their loved one's drinking when we're alone because beneath the jokes they know it's a problem.
If you're having more than one, maybe two drinks a day on average, over a long period of time, you are damaging your body in ways you don't understand. You're setting up a permanent heightened inflammatory state. Your heart cells don't like alcohol; Google "alcohol-induced cardiomyopathy." Your esophagus and stomach respond to incessant bathing in poison by first developing wounds and then cancer. Your liver, of course, doesn't like it. Your liver not only converts poisons to harmless substances you can excrete, it also makes your platelets, so your blood can clot. It makes albumin, a protein that's essentially for keeping water in your blood vessels and not letting it leach into your tissues. So people who are dying of liver failure are in pain and weak and tired and sad the whole fucking time! And the only solution, a liver transplant, will come with a lifetime of medication and specialist check-ups and the knowledge that if you fuck up and kill this liver, too, no one is going to be eager to give you another try.
I don't guilt-trip my alcoholic patients with liver disease. I don't guilt-trip my smokers with COPD. They chose to cope with substances for reasons, even if I disagree with their reasons, even if those reasons are opaque to me. They will suffer the natural consequences of those actions whether I guilt-trip them or not. I want them to continue to see me, I want them to be honest with me. Other people will lay enough guilt on them. And nothing I can say or do would ever compare to the physical and mental suffering that goes with those diseases.
But if you can prevent these diseases in yourself, prevent them. Quit smoking. Do it now. Your lungs are going to look better starting almost immediately, with positive changes continuing for many years. Drink less alcohol. Sure, it's fun, sure, it's a longstanding human tradition, but it is also unfortunately a straight up poison and your body knows that no matter how persuasively you argue about the obvious failure of Prohibition. You can't argue with a cell. You can't convince your kidneys that high blood pressure shouldn't damage them. They are a system; they do what they do; they existed long before prefrontal cortex existed to justify what we want to do but know to be harmful.

@sharpsuite ♛ ; the first time pat woke up in a hospital with a nurse telling her she's lucky to be alive, she was sixteen years old. her heart did not stop for sixty seconds, but that's not to say the injuries her body sustained weren't serious: multiple broken bones, internal bleeding, a kidney damaged beyond repair. she took months to recover, and even now, years later, her body still suffers the consequences of it in the shape of chronic pain and health issues. at least now, she has the comfort of knowing her wounds were caused by nature, as bizarre as it was; by lack of luck, being in the wrong place at the wrong time. it wasn't caused by the brutality of other people.
all things considered, this isn't even her number one traumatic experience. she shakes her head at him, unconvinced. what's most frustrating is the fact that what he says makes sense, yet every cell in her body is telling her it's wrong. " it's not━ i know trauma, okay? " if she made up false memories about someone new every time she went through something traumatic, there would be enough people to fill a city at this point. " and i never... ever felt like this before for anybody else. " it goes beyond a déjà-vu; she knows this man. yet she's sure she would remember his face if she'd seen it anywhere else. his looks are far from plain.
Tumblr media
i believe you. the words make her eyes light up with hope. he must feel it too. must remember her from somewhere within the depths of his mind. pat remembers others, too, but no one triggers this feeling as strongly as chishiya. " how can we do that? " she's more than eager to find out more information, no matter what. " i'm down for anything. "

My DnD characters backstory :D
For context I'm currently playing an Ealdrin bard named Ellis, and as the top line would suggest the following backstory is his own. I also made a Spotify playlist for him so here is that: https://spotify.link/aTdRgNDNtDb
If you are uncomfortable with the topics of a character being caused physical harm, please do not read this. I don't go into detail, but I know it bothers people.
Ellis was raised in the fae wild alongside other Ealdrin aristocrat children. As is expected, he was quite the little shit, but mostly just insulted other children. As he grew older, he studied architecture for a little bit, designed some pretty famous buildings for the kingdom he lived in, and then went to bard college.
After he graduated, he flew up the ranks pretty fast and through a string of encounters I didn't bother to come up with, ended up as the king's advisor. Now, the king did not like Ellis very much, purely just because they didn't mix well, but he couldn't exactly do anything about it. Unfortunately for Ellis, over the span of 20 years, he began to develop feelings for the king. And near the end of those 20 years, he truly loved the king and did everything to ensure the king's comfort.
Things did not stay mundane for long, however. One night, the king and his newly wedded wife were killed. Naturally, this brought forth a lot of panic. Due to the customs of this particular kingdom, if there was no direct heir to the throne, the royal advisor would take control. Seeing as the king had no living relatives that could take the throne, Ellis would have been the next king. This naturally brought a lot of speculation that Ellis killed the king since he always seemed to be around him and, well, this had happened before. The dead king's father had been killed by his advisor.
Ellis was promptly charged with murder with basically no evidence, and the sentence given was an exile. During his exile, Ellis wanted nothing more to explain his innocence. This became a bit of an obsession, so by the time he figured out how to summon the spirit of the dead king from a mage he had met, he was already a little bonkers.
Once the ghost of the dead king was summoned, he was immediately furious at the man be seen before him. He never saw the culprit, so he too assumed Ellis had murdered him. Ellis tried to explain, then tearfully confessed his love to the king. I couldn't tell you what drove the king to do what I am about to detail. Be it the fury he marinated in for over 50 years, thinking the innocent man before him had committed such an act, or the fury brought on by his most disliked person confessing his love to the king. Nevertheless, the king was still strong as a spirit. Strong enough to reach for a knife and stab Ellis directly in the heart.
Now Ellis wouldn't be able to tell you what happened next, most certainly because he was already dead, but I certainly can. Ellis was stabbed 8 times in the heart, 3 in the gut, and ruthlessly disembowled. Hell, by the time the mage who had given Ellis the spell to summon the king's spirit, his arm was just about gone.
Through a process too complicated to write out on a sheet of paper, the mage reconstructed Ellis' body as well as he could. Being able to salvage the heart somehow, but doing away with much of the digestive track. The damaged organs I will list are as follows: liver, stomach, left kidney (the right had to be removed) and heart. Since you do not need part of your liver, that took care of itself. The kidney was also easily repaired. The heart needed an incredibly complicated rune to keep it from stopping (though Ellis still has heart palpitations on the regular), and the stomach needed a rune of similar complexity to be able to digest nutrients without the intestines. Being unable to eat properly, he requires a feeding tube. Water and pills can be taken orally, and some pretty easy to digest foods can also be taken as such, but he mainly relies on said feeding tube to get his nutrients. Because of this he also has trained a ferret to respond to his heart issues, and it can detect whenever it's keeper needs help.
Ellis now swears to destroy the fae realms aristocratic circles, and to cause as much harm as he can doing do. He's quite well tampered to others, but his disdain for his kingdom is strong.

Top 5 Supplements to Improve Your Fitness and Performance
In the world of fitness and training centers, supplements are known for enhancing performance, accelerating recovery, and supporting overall health. With countless options currently available on the market, you're probably having a hard time choosing the right ones. This article will highlight five healthy supplements for gym enthusiasts and how they can aid you, whether you're training for sports or simply following a regular exercise routine.
Tumblr media
Whey protein
Anyone looking to increase their muscle mass should consider whey protein. It's a staple in the fitness community because it promotes muscle growth and repair. Regular whey protein intake gives your body the essential amino acids necessary for post-exercise muscle recovery and can help reduce fatigue and improve your overall performance.
During cheese production, milk separates into curds and liquid whey. This whey is rich in fast-digesting protein, making it great for pre- and post-workout supplementation. You can find it in most health and nutrition stores, fitness and training centers, and online retailers.
However, note that whey protein can trigger dairy sensitivities. Consider alternatives, such as plant-based protein supplements, if you have dairy allergies. If you have lactose intolerance, you can seek whey protein isolate supplements, which have a low risk of triggering adverse reactions because of their minimal to no lactose content.
Creatine monohydrate
This supplement is backed by a lot of research and is one of the most popular among fitness enthusiasts. Creatine increases the availability of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the primary energy carrier in cells, providing a quick boost during high-intensity activities like weightlifting and exercise. It can also improve muscle recovery between sets and help reduce post-exercise soreness.
Creatine is a compound naturally synthesized in the liver, kidneys, and pancreas. You can also find it in pork, red meat, and fish. As a supplement, creatine is identical to the compound naturally produced by your body and is available in powder, liquid, chewable tablet, and other forms. It's generally considered safe and unlikely to trigger allergic reactions, but people with existing kidney conditions should check with their physician before taking creatine.
BCAAs
Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) consist of leucine, isoleucine, and valine and are essential for muscle protein synthesis and energy production. They help reduce muscle soreness, decrease exercise-induced muscle damage, and prevent muscle breakdown after intense training sessions. BCAAs may also support immune function and mental focus.
You can get BCAAs by incorporating foods that are rich in them into your gym diet plan. These include meat, fish, eggs, nuts, legumes, and whole grains. BCAA supplements are derived from plant- and meat-based sources, isolating the desired amino acids in high concentrations. You can take them in pill, powder, or liquid form.
BCAA supplements can be derived from various ingredients, some of which may cause allergies in certain people. For this reason, examine the ingredients list before making a purchase.
Omega-3 fatty acids
Omega-3 fatty acids are known to help against inflammation and support cardiovascular health. For athletes, omega-3s can reduce muscle soreness, improve joint health, and enhance overall recovery. Additionally, they have been linked to better brain function and mental clarity, which are crucial for maintaining a regular exercise routine.
Omega-3s can be found in seafood, seeds, nuts, vegetable oils, and leafy greens. Supplements are usually derived from fish oil, although some manufacturers produce them from krill oil and plant-based sources, such as flaxseed oil. Although generally well-tolerated, they may interact with certain medications, such as blood thinners.
Beta-alanine
To extend your training sessions, consider taking beta-alanine supplements. It's an amino acid that increases muscle carnosine levels, which helps buffer acid, reduce fatigue, and allow for longer, more intense workouts. As a supplement, it's particularly beneficial for high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and endurance sports.
Like other essential amino acids, beta-alanine is abundant in meat, fish, legumes, whole grains, seeds, and nuts. Supplements are often synthesized in laboratories to ensure low costs and high purity levels. When buying beta-alanine supplements, choose those from reputable manufacturers to ensure safety and quality.
Taking the right supplements can significantly enhance your performance, recovery, and overall health. Whether you aim to gain muscle mass, improve your endurance, or reduce post-exercise fatigue, supplementation can help you achieve your fitness goals. If you need help choosing the right supplements, the professional trainers at VSA Performance Center can guide you and help create a personalized supplementation plan tailored to your specific needs.

Alkaline Filter Water Purifier - How Does It Works in Building Body Cell
Alkaline water is a kind of water that has a pH level of above 7 and it has gained significant popularity for its health benefits such as proper hydration, detoxification, and strengthening of the immune system. The alkaline water purifier is a device that is designed to increase the pH level of water to make it more alkaline and beneficial for the body.
How Does an Alkaline Water Purifier Work?
Filtration Process
Pre-filtration: Filters out larger sediments such as dust and rust.
Activated Carbon Filter: Removes chlorine, organic matter, and unpleasant smell from the water.
Reverse Osmosis (RO): Filters heavy metals, fluoride, and other dissolved substances.
Ion Exchange: It removes the negative ions and replaces them with positive ones.
Alkaline Filter: The alkaline filter adds essential minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium to the water and also boosts its alkalinity.
Alkalinization
Mineral Addition: This water then passes through a filter that has natural minerals that raise the pH of the water.
Electrolysis: Some systems use electrolysis which involves passing water over plates that have been charged with electricity to separate the acidic and alkaline components of it.
Benefits of Alkaline Water on the Body Cells
Enhanced Hydration
Micro-clustered Molecules: Alkaline water has smaller molecular clusters thus it is easier for cells to absorb and use the water.
Improved Fluid Balance: It is important to stay hydrated and consume more fluids to avoid a decrease in fluid levels in the cells and to promote healthy cell functioning and longevity.
Detoxification
Antioxidant Properties: Just like hydrogen gas water, alkaline water acts as an antioxidant that helps in destroying free radicals that cause damage.
Waste Removal: Higher hydration enables the slow elimination of wastes produced by cells.
pH Balance
Acid-Base Equilibrium: Alkaline water helps to neutralize acids in the body and the cells, therefore maintaining acidosis.
Buffering Capacity: The alkaline water gives the body the buffer needed to naturally neutralize the excess of acid in the body fluids and tissues.
How Alkaline Water Support Cell Function
Cellular Energy Production
Improved Nutrient Transport: Increased cellular osmolality and mineral content release less energy for nutrients for cells to make ATP.
Oxygen Utilization: pH balance is vital for proper oxygen delivery to cells which is essential for energy metabolism.
Cellular Repair and Growth
Protein Synthesis: Alkaline water consists of minerals that are beneficial in protein synthesis to facilitate cell repair and growth.
DNA Protection: Antioxidants help in the prevention of oxidative damage to the DNA thus promoting healthy cell division.
Immune Function
White Blood Cell Activity: The balance of hydration and the pH level also boosts the function of white blood cells that are integral to the body’s immune system.
Detoxification Pathways: It supports the functions of the liver and kidneys, which are vital in eliminating toxic compounds that can damage immune cells.
Conclusion: An alkaline water purifier not only improves the taste and safety of drinking water but also has great health benefits because it supports cellular activities. These waters are important in improving health through improved hydration, enhanced detoxification, and improved pH balance of the body cells. Drinking alkaline water and hydrogen gas water daily can be one of the easiest and most affordable ways to improve cell energy and health.
OSG Alkaline Ionized water is the best choice for superior hydration and cellular support. Explore the power of optimal hydration and vitality now with OSG Alkaline Ionizer.

Body Detox: How to Do It (The Safe and Effective Way)
Tumblr media
The concept of body detox has become a popular buzzword in the world of health and wellness. Cleanse diets, juice fasts, and an endless array of detox supplements promise to rid your body of toxins, boost energy levels, and even melt away unwanted pounds.
But before you jump on the latest detox bandwagon, let's delve deeper into what a body detox actually is and explore some safe and effective ways to support your body's natural detoxification process.
The Myth of Toxins and the Power of Your Body
Our bodies are remarkably self-sufficient. We have a built-in detoxification system comprised of organs like the liver, kidneys, lungs, and skin that work tirelessly to eliminate waste products and toxins. The liver plays a starring role, filtering toxins from the bloodstream and converting them into harmless substances that are then excreted through urine, feces, and sweat.
The idea that our bodies accumulate toxins that need a special detox program to be eliminated is a misconception. While exposure to environmental pollutants and unhealthy lifestyle choices can certainly put a strain on our detoxification system, our bodies are remarkably effective at handling these challenges.
So, Why Do We Feel Sluggish Sometimes?
If you're feeling sluggish, bloated, or lacking in energy, there are several factors at play besides a buildup of toxins. Here are some more likely culprits:
Poor Diet: A diet high in processed foods, sugary drinks, unhealthy fats, and lacking in fiber can leave you feeling sluggish and contribute to digestive issues.
Lack of Sleep: When you don't get enough quality sleep, your body doesn't have a chance to repair and recharge, leading to fatigue and decreased energy levels.
Stress: Chronic stress wreaks havoc on your hormones and can negatively impact your digestion, sleep, and overall well-being.
Dehydration: When you're not properly hydrated, your body struggles to function optimally, leading to fatigue, headaches, and constipation.
The Safe and Effective Detox
The good news is that you don't need a fad diet or expensive supplements to detoxify your body. Here are some simple yet powerful strategies to support your body's natural detoxification system and feel your best:
Focus on a Whole-Food Diet: Prioritize whole, unprocessed foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. These foods are packed with essential nutrients that support your body's detoxification processes.
Fiber is Your Friend: Fiber plays a crucial role in digestion and elimination. Aim to include plenty of fiber-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, beans, lentils, and whole grains in your diet. Fiber helps move waste products through your digestive system efficiently, preventing constipation and promoting healthy detoxification.
Hydration is Key: Water is essential for every bodily function, including detoxification. Aim to drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated and facilitate the elimination of toxins through urine and sweat.
Power Up with Antioxidants: Antioxidants help combat free radicals, harmful molecules that can damage cells and contribute to various health problems. Include plenty of antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables in your diet, like berries, leafy greens, citrus fruits, and nuts.
Don't Forget the Cruciferous Veggies: Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, kale, and Brussels sprouts are rich in compounds that support your liver's detoxification pathways.
Limit Processed Foods, Sugar, and Unhealthy Fats: Processed foods, sugary drinks, and unhealthy fats can burden your liver and hinder its ability to detoxify your body effectively. Minimize your intake of these foods and choose healthier alternatives.
Move Your Body: Regular exercise is excellent for your overall health and detoxification. Exercise promotes sweating, which helps eliminate toxins through your skin. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week.
Prioritize Sleep: When you sleep, your body goes into repair mode. Adequate sleep is essential for detoxification and overall well-being. Aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep each night.
Manage Stress: Chronic stress can take a toll on your detoxification system. Find healthy ways to manage stress, such as yoga, meditation, spending time in nature, or spending time with loved ones.
Support Your Gut Health: A healthy gut microbiome is crucial for overall health and detoxification. Probiotics, found in fermented foods like yogurt and kefir, or probiotic supplements can help support a healthy gut environment.
Detoxing Myths to Debunk
Juice Cleanses and Restrictive Diets: While these may seem like a quick fix, they can be counterproductive. They can deprive your body of essential nutrients and disrupt your blood sugar levels, leaving you feeling tired and irritable.
Colon Cleanses: There's no scientific evidence that colon cleanses are necessary or even beneficial. Your colon is already well-equipped to eliminate waste products. Colon cleanses can disrupt the delicate balance of bacteria in your gut and potentially lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalances.
Detox Supplements: The market is flooded with detox supplements, but many lack scientific backing for their claimed benefits. Some supplements may even interact with medications you're taking or have unintended side effects.
When to Consult a Doctor

Unleashing the Power of Shockwave Therapy: A Game-Changer in Rehabilitation
Tumblr media
In the ever-evolving landscape of medical technology, innovations continuously reshape the way we approach healthcare. Among these breakthroughs, shockwave therapy stands out as a powerful tool in the realm of rehabilitation. Designed to accelerate healing and alleviate chronic pain, shockwave therapy devices have gained significant attention in recent years. In this article, we delve into the workings of shockwave therapy and explore how this cutting-edge technology is transforming the treatment landscape.
Understanding Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy, also known as Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT), utilizes high-energy acoustic waves to stimulate biological processes within the body. Originally developed to disintegrate kidney stones, shockwave therapy found its niche in musculoskeletal medicine for its remarkable healing properties.
The therapy works by delivering acoustic waves directly to the affected area, triggering a cascade of physiological responses. These waves induce microtrauma at the cellular level, prompting the body to initiate its natural healing mechanisms. This process enhances blood circulation, stimulates the release of growth factors, and promotes tissue regeneration.
Applications in Rehabilitation
Shockwave therapy has demonstrated efficacy in treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, making it a versatile tool in rehabilitation. Here are some of its key applications:
Chronic Pain Management: From plantar fasciitis to tennis elbow, shockwave therapy offers a non-invasive alternative for chronic pain management. By targeting the source of pain and promoting tissue repair, it provides long-lasting relief for patients suffering from persistent discomfort.
Sports Injuries: Athletes frequently encounter injuries that impair their performance and prolong recovery times. Shockwave therapy accelerates the healing process, allowing athletes to resume training and competition sooner than traditional methods.
Orthopedic Conditions: Patients with orthopedic conditions such as tendinopathies, bursitis, and osteoarthritis can benefit from shockwave therapy's regenerative effects. It offers a conservative treatment option, reducing the need for invasive procedures like surgery.
Wound Healing: Shockwave therapy has shown promise in enhancing wound healing by promoting angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels) and facilitating tissue regeneration. This makes it particularly valuable in the management of diabetic ulcers and other chronic wounds.
The Advantages of Shockwave Therapy Devices
Shockwave therapy devices have evolved significantly since their inception, offering several advantages over conventional treatments:
Non-Invasive: Unlike surgical procedures, shockwave therapy is non-invasive and does not require anesthesia or prolonged recovery periods. Patients can undergo treatment without the risks associated with surgery.
Minimal Side Effects: The side effects of shockwave therapy are typically mild and transient, including temporary discomfort or bruising at the treatment site. Compared to medications or injections, it poses fewer risks of systemic complications.
Targeted Treatment: Shockwave therapy allows precise targeting of the affected area, ensuring maximum therapeutic effect while minimizing damage to surrounding tissues.
Cost-Effective: In the long run, shockwave therapy can be a cost-effective solution for chronic conditions, reducing the need for ongoing medication or frequent medical visits.
Outpatient Procedure: Most shockwave therapy sessions can be performed on an outpatient basis, allowing patients to resume their daily activities immediately afterward.
Future Directions: As research into shockwave therapy continues to expand, its potential applications are poised to grow. Emerging technologies aim to enhance the precision and effectiveness of shockwave therapy, further improving patient outcomes and expanding its reach into new medical domains.

Creatine Vs Protein: Which Is Best for Muscle Building
As a gymgoer, choosing between the two supplements, creatine, and protein may give you different answers. Both have their roles to play. They are not the same and can’t be interchanged. Even though research has shown that taking both at different proportions is better than anything.
Muscle building, a pursuit that intertwines dedication, discipline, and strategic nutrition, often prompts individuals to explore supplements that can aid in the process.
Two key players in the muscle-building arena are creatine and protein. Creatine is a naturally occurring compound known for its role in energy production, while protein, an essential macronutrient, is the building block of muscle tissue.
Let’s dig a little deeper and learn more about both and how they affect your body simultaneously.
Creatine: Powerhouse for High-Intensity Performance
Creatine is a naturally occurring compound found in small amounts in certain foods and synthesized by the body. It is stored primarily in muscles, where it plays a crucial role in the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the primary energy source for cellular activities.
Benefits of Creatine for Muscle Building
Increased ATP Production: Creatine supplementation enhances the availability of ATP, particularly during short bursts of high-intensity activities like weightlifting and sprinting. This heightened energy production contributes to improved strength and power.
Muscle Hydration: Creatine can draw water into muscle cells, leading to increased cell volume. This cellular hydration may contribute to muscle fullness and size, promoting an anabolic environment for growth.
Accelerated Recovery: Creatine has demonstrated the ability to reduce muscle cell damage and inflammation, facilitating a faster recovery process after intense workouts. This can be especially beneficial for individuals engaged in frequent and strenuous training.
Enhanced Cognitive Function: Recent studies have explored creatine's potential cognitive benefits. While more research is needed, some evidence suggests that creatine may positively impact tasks requiring short-term memory and mental processing.
Considerations with Creatine
Individual Response: The effectiveness of creatine can vary among individuals. Some experience significant benefits, while others may not respond as noticeably. Monitoring personal responses is crucial.
Water Retention: Creatine supplementation can lead to an increase in water weight due to enhanced water retention in muscles. While this contributes to muscle fullness, individuals with specific aesthetic goals should be mindful of this aspect.
Existing Health Conditions: Individuals with pre-existing kidney conditions or concerns should approach creatine supplementation cautiously and consult with a healthcare professional.
Protein: Building Blocks for Muscle Repair and Growth
Protein, comprised of amino acids, is an essential macronutrient crucial for various bodily functions. In the context of muscle building, protein serves as the building block for muscle tissue, providing the necessary amino acids for repair, growth, and maintenance.
Benefits of Protein for Muscle Building
Muscle Synthesis: Protein is indispensable for muscle protein synthesis (MPS), the process by which the body builds new muscle tissue. Consuming an adequate amount of protein is essential for supporting MPS and fostering muscle growth.
Recovery and Repair: After intense exercise, muscles undergo micro-tears that require repair. Protein supplies the amino acids needed for this repair process, aiding in recovery and reducing muscle soreness.
Satiety and Weight Management: Including protein in meals and snacks contributes to a feeling of fullness and satiety. This can be advantageous for individuals aiming to manage their weight or engage in fat loss while preserving muscle mass.
Nutrient Timing: Consuming protein in proximity to workouts, especially post-exercise, is considered beneficial for maximizing muscle protein synthesis and optimizing recovery.
Considerations with Protein
Protein needs vary among individuals based on factors such as age, weight, activity level, and fitness goals. Understanding individual requirements is crucial for optimal muscle support.
While animal sources like meat, dairy, and eggs provide complete proteins containing all essential amino acids, plant-based sources can be combined to achieve the same effect. Diversifying protein sources ensures a comprehensive amino acid profile.
Distributing protein intake evenly across meals and snacks throughout the day supports sustained muscle protein synthesis. While post-workout protein is important, overall daily intake matters just as much.
The Synergy
While creatine and protein serve distinct roles in the muscle-building process, their synergy can offer comprehensive support for individuals seeking optimal results. Here's how they complement each other:
Enhanced Performance: Creatine's ability to boost ATP production can enhance performance during resistance training, allowing individuals to engage in more rigorous workouts. Protein, in turn, supports muscle recovery and growth after these intense sessions.
Optimized Recovery: The anti-inflammatory properties of creatine, coupled with protein's role in muscle repair, create an ideal environment for efficient recovery. This synergy may reduce soreness and expedite the recovery timeline.
Muscle Fullness and Growth: Creatine's cell-hydrating effect contributes to muscle fullness, complementing the muscle-building process. Protein provides the essential amino acids needed for muscle protein synthesis, fostering growth and repair.
Cognitive Function and Focus: While more research is needed, creatine's potential cognitive benefits may be advantageous for maintaining focus during workouts. Protein-rich meals and snacks contribute to sustained energy levels, supporting overall cognitive function.
In the creatine vs. protein debate, it's crucial to recognize that these two supplements are not mutually exclusive; rather, they can be complementary elements in a well-rounded muscle-building strategy. Creatine offers enhanced performance and recovery benefits, particularly for high-intensity activities, while protein serves as the foundational building block for muscle growth and repair.
Ultimately, the decision to incorporate creatine, protein, or both into a fitness regimen should align with individual goals, preferences, and health considerations. Consulting with a healthcare professional or a qualified nutritionist can provide personalized guidance based on factors such as overall health, dietary preferences, and fitness objectives.
In the pursuit of muscle growth, understanding the unique benefits of creatine and protein, and how they work in harmony, empowers individuals to make informed decisions that propel them towards their fitness aspirations. Balancing these supplements, along with a well-structured training program and a nutrient-rich diet, lays the foundation for a comprehensive approach to muscle building that stands the test of time.

Benefits Of Vitamin C in Pregnancy
Tumblr media
Since oranges are thought to be a nutrient-dense food, do you remember having a bowl of oranges as a treat? It’s true that they are a great source of vitamin C. Renowned for its strong antioxidant properties, vitamin C is an essential nutrient that strengthens your immune system. It is essential for promoting the proper growth and development of your unborn child while you are pregnant. Aim to get the proper quantity of Vitamin C in order to get the most out of your prenatal scans. If you are looking for prenatal scan services in Ahmedabad then do get in touch with Diva Women’s Hospital for 2D, 3D, and 4D scans in Ahmedabad.
How beneficial is Vitamin C during pregnancy?
Vitamin C is necessary for the growing fetus and the expectant mother throughout pregnancy. It helps the mother’s immune system stay healthy and promotes the growth of your baby’s skin, cartilage, tendons, and bones. It also serves the body’s antioxidant needs, protecting cells from the damaging effects of free radicals and aiding in the defense against infections.
Immune Support: You may be more prone to infections and illnesses during pregnancy because of a weakened immune system. As a strong antioxidant, vitamin C supports your body’s natural defenses. It can help prevent colds and other illnesses, which is particularly beneficial at this critical time.
Production of Collagen: Collagen is a structural protein that is necessary to keep your bones, connective tissues, and skin healthy. One co-factor in the formation of collagen is vitamin C. Your baby’s development depends on the proper production of collagen, which is necessary for the building of their skin, bones, and other organs.
Iron Absorption: As your blood volume grows during pregnancy, iron is essential for carrying oxygen to both you and your unborn child. Legumes and leafy greens are good plant-based sources of non-heme iron that are better absorbed when combined with vitamin C. If you eat a vegetarian or vegan diet, this is really helpful.
Vitamin C: Vitamin C is essential for tissue repair and wound healing. Although it has nothing to do with pregnancy, this advantage may come in handy during labor and delivery and in the postpartum phase, particularly if you have any cuts or tears.
Fetal Development: Your unborn child’s brain, neurological system, and general growth depend on getting enough vitamin C. It fosters the growth of the baby’s essential organs and aids in the establishment of neural connections.
Decreased Risk of Preterm Delivery: Research has indicated that preserving an ideal level of vitamin C may assist in lowering the incidence of preterm delivery. Although further studies are required to clearly show a cause-and-effect relationship, it is usually recommended that pregnant women consume a healthy amount of this vitamin.
Lower Risk of Preeclampsia: High blood pressure and damage to vital organs like the liver and kidneys are hallmarks of preeclampsia, a dangerous pregnancy complication. Certain studies suggest that vitamin C may help prevent preeclampsia by lowering oxidative stress and encouraging healthy blood pressure, while the evidence is inconclusive.
How Much Vitamin C Do Pregnant Women Need?
It is okay to take vitamin C during pregnancy but nursing mother requires even more vitamin C than pregnant women. The recommended daily intake of vitamin C for pregnant women is 80 mg for those under the age of 18 and 85 mg for those over the age of 19. Aim for 120 mg of vitamin C per day for nursing moms. To reach your daily dietary goal, try including fruits and vegetables high in vitamin C in your diet. Despite being water-soluble, excessive vitamin C consumption is not advised during pregnancy. Because large amounts of vitamin C can cause nausea, diarrhoea, upset stomach, and other health problems, the maximum daily amount should not exceed 2000 mg.
What Dangers Could a Low Vitamin C Intake During Pregnancy Pose?
Your body experiences a number of important changes when you are pregnant. A healthy diet is crucial for the growth and development of the unborn child as well as the balance of hormones. A lack of vitamin C during pregnancy inhibits the brain development of the fetus. It might even have an impact on the hippocampus, which is in charge of memory and learning in the brain. Brittle hair, sluggish healing from bruises and wounds, and rough, dry skin can all be symptoms of inadequate vitamin C intake. Its absence can harm the capillary veins, which are tiny blood vessels beneath the skin, and result in bleeding gums. Should this ailment continue, scurvy can emerge.
Can You Take Vitamin C Supplements During Pregnancy?
It is usually not required to take an additional chewable vitamin C supplement. Vitamin C can easily obtained from a variety of sources, including fruits, vegetables, and prenatal supplements, to meet your daily requirements.
Taking supplements raises the possibility of consuming too much vitamin C, however, this is uncommon. Among the adverse effects of a vitamin C excess are the following:
Consuming more than two grams of vitamin C daily might aggravate gout and lead to kidney stones.
Many expectant mothers started taking vitamin C pills every day during the pandemic in addition to eating fruits and vegetables. They have become very dependent on the supplement as a result, and if they suddenly stop taking vitamin C, they may experience signs of a deficit.
Abdominal cramps, nausea, tiredness, intestinal blockage, migraines, diarrhea, heat flashes, and rashes can all be brought on by high vitamin C dosages.
Advanced side effects, including oesophageal inflammation, red blood cell problems, Parkinson’s disease, injection site pain, enlarged blood vessels surrounding the heart, skin irritation, digestive tract problems, and urinary tract complications, can result from taking too much vitamin C.
Our goal at Diva Women’s Hospital is to meet all of your pregnancy needs with the newest, most advanced technologies available. Our cutting-edge facility provides 2D, 3D, and 4D scan services that make the journey of your unborn child come to life like never before. So why wait? Do visit us today.
