Update 2024- October
Wow. So a lot has happened and I don't even know where to begin. I moved to the UK. I did not plan to, in fact when I came on holiday here one year ago, I decided I would extend my holiday for a short time and find short term work. My brother wanted me to stay and I adamantly argued that I had no interest in living in the UK. It is over 1 year later now and I've accepted that this is home now for the time being. Life is strange. I always knew I would live overseas, I thought it would still be a few years but here I am. Everything fell into place and aligned. Although this is what could be termed and likely is a quantum shift, it has not all been easy. In fact, it has had its own set of challenges as life often does. I've ended up working at a high school, I said I would never work as a teacher in the UK. I am that now, and I am fortunate to work at a good school. Some of these kids are like a different species though, and that has been interesting and testing to work with. I ended up studying reflexology and am now a qualified reflexologist and I'm working 2 days per month at a salon, building up clientele. It was challenging, learning how to live alone, and work and study. I thought it would be a lot easier when I finished studying, and in sense it was. Except that then my prioroty shifted to making friends and that was when things went a bit pear shaped.
If there's anything I'm learning, it's that life really is full of yin and yang. You may find something good, amazing even, only to realise certain downsides or darker aspects. Likewise, you can find something seemingly terrible or dissapointing, only to realise the blessings therein. I'm learning how to accept and work with this.
I wanted to make more friends. And I seemingly manifested this. I was sitting at the storyhouse, getting my reflexology work complete *long past my deadline, but I passed the finishing line eventually), when the person sitting next to me struck up a conversation. I was taken off guard but rolled with it and we ended up chatting for 45 minutes about life and the universe. I was delighted to have a new friend. Story short, this person was interested in me as more than a friend. I said I thought it would be better to be friends first. We met up and walked and talked for hours and had dinner and he was chivalrous and eventually won me over. My heart opened and I warmed up to the idea that maybe something could be here and maybe this would even be love! I had never been inlove before, but this person treated me so well and maybe this could be it. Well, it turns out this person had a lot of darkness and a lot of wounds. Right at the time, I opened my heart, they closed theirs and decided we would be better as friends. I was devastated but settled for a friendship.
