#Here's to more Suuji for years to come
Text
I’ve combed my blog, and so far I have 33 pages worth of brotp: numbermatsu content on my blog.
This is a good thing.

Hello!! I'm the same anon who asked for songs that remind you of Ichi (I actually knew Master & Servant :o) and the reason I asked was cause I wanted something fitting to listen to while drawing. Your songs were 👌 (especially the last /jk) so since it's Suuji day, I'm asking if you know anything I can draw some Suuji to? :D
Glad you liked the Ichi playlist!
The difficulty for me when it comes to finding Suuji music is, as much as I adore Suuji, I adore it platonically. A song could be otherwise perfect, and with solo playlists I’m normally more forgiving of an unfitting line or two if the rest of the song works, but in this case, if there’s a single romantic implication in the entire song, nope, can’t do it. I admit I do like some concepts with the pair that others would view as too far, such as snuggling and saying they love each other, but calling it unambiguously romantic or referencing stuff like mouth kissing? Blech. No. Considering that songs about deep platonic affection aren’t nearly as common as romantic ones, at least in my experience, it does make things tricky. But I do have some things! ...even if it means taking songs that were probably written romantically, but using them anyway because at least they don’t mention smooching. I don’t view Suuji as “worth less” than a romantic relationship. Why should I? I do believe Jyushi loves Ichi as much as he loves, say, Homura, and that Ichi returns that love; it’s just a different type of love, is all. But I say this because if my approaching the playlist in that light makes anyone uncomfortable, then I understand completely, and maybe skip over the majority of it?
Never Gonna Say I’m Sorry by Ace of Base - This is mostly a Jyushi solo song; it is such a Jyushi solo song that I’d believe it was about him if it wasn’t written in 1995. But the second verse could be interpreted as Suuji, if you wanna use it that way. “Give me just a minute to shine with you! I could make you so happy, make you laugh!”
You Keep Me From Breaking Apart by Apoptygma Berzerk - I mentioned this on my Ichi playlist as well, but it’s too good not to mention here. You have no idea how much I listened to this while writing “Don’t Worry”; I adore it as a Suuji song. “You understand the chaos in my head, only you understand every word I say...”
I Stand by Gabriela Gunčíková - To be honest, this song is... not the most interesting, musically. It’s pretty, I suppose, but it also sounds like every other Eurovision ballad. But I listened to it a lot out of necessity during the lead up to Eurovision 2016, and mentally turning it into a Suuji song made it a hell of a lot more bearable. =P And hey, maybe you like simple ballads a lot more than I do! Ichi, perhaps an Ichi in the future who’s built more confidence in himself, thanking Jyushi for always looking out for him. “I have felt the strain, I’ve made mistakes with the monsters in my head. But in the end, you’re standing there, you’re the one who always cares.”
Ready for the Floor by Hot Chip - I’ve heard this before, but it’s been years, and then a friend brought it back into my life today by posting it as a Suuji song, and for that, I really like it! I love songs that can be read as Jyushi getting Ichi to live life to the fullest, which Ichi does want him to do. And hey, like my friend said, “number one guy”! Gotta get those number puns! “I can’t hear your voice, do I have a choice? I’m hoping with chance, you might take this dance.”
Rain Dance by T. Stebbins - Okay, so this is a song about another fandom, a fandom I know fuckall about. (I actually am interested in Touhou from a distance, from a story standpoint, I’ve just never looked at anything outside pictures and vague plot summaries.) But if that can be forgiven on character playlists, I love how optimistic this song is! It’s about persevering through hard times and making something good out of them, and I love the idea of Jyushi passing on this life philosophy to the brother who has a constant rain cloud over his head. “We’re in a rain dance, let it splash on your head! You could’ve been in pain, but you’re rejoicing instead!”
Also potentially worth mentioning, even if the whole song definitely does not fit, is “Play With The Numbers” by Domino. I tend to use this one for Suuji moods simply because it’s loaded with Japanese number puns. “Ichi nii no sanshine!” has particularly morphed into a cutesy little nickname for Ichi. I don’t think Ichi appreciates it - ball of sunshine he is not - but Jyushi still thinks the world of him. Maybe Jyushi can actually get away with it. So for that, I’ll mention this one. =P
