Pokemon Episode 16

Yeah, these episodes are still fun. I still love them.

Why are Jessie and James being mentioned in the farewell? They're known to be part of Team Rocket and are, well, wanted criminals. Seems a bit backwards lmao.

Oh to be on a tropical beach vacation with my OTP… /s

Jessie… Did you miss the part about being UNDERWATER?

You know what? Jessie's hot. They didn't need to make her as hot as she is, but I'm glad they did.

MY ROCKETSHIPPING CRUMBS… Violently inhales them all. Even as a kid I loved this scene lmao. Maybe they should be in more near-death situations so they can kinda sorta admit their love.

Ash used his one good idea for the next 10 episodes I see.

So Misty isn't allowed to slap Ash on camera but Jessie is allowed to slap James? I see how it is.

James seems to like sleeping on top of Jessie and I think about that a lot.

"I'm James, your master! Obey me!" is an iconic line.

This was a good Team Rocket episode and in general, too. The scene in the engine room is peak Rocketshipping.

Pokemon Episode 15

I remember really liking this episode (and the other shipwreck ones) when I was a kid. I definitely had them on VHS too lol.

Gal Team Rocket… Yet another joke that gets lost on international audiences but hey I'll take it. Also, crossdressing James. I like that the characterisations they went with in the dub though since it's at least kind of equivalent to how gals talk.

"Do you know ANYBODY who says 'radical' anymore?" "Nuh-uh."

Jessie saying they can't go on the cruise with their boyfriends… I see how it is. /s

The little skips they do as they run away… Cute.

"Don't I make, like, the COOOLEST girl?!" "Stop acting like an ignoramus!" Jessie's just jealous that James is more feminine than she is I guess.

Oh, hey, it's Giovanni. I wish the series did more with him.

I spotted an unedited sign with Japanese still on it. 4KIDS are slack lol.

The Pokemon pyramids were cool.

"Could this be the end?!" It's episode 15 of, like, well over 1,000, dude.

Pokemon Episode 17

Sorry it's been a hot minute… My brain doesn't like me lol.

Anyway, this episode is fun. Some good Rocketshipping-esque moments here kinda sorta.

I like that Jessie and James end up sitting in very formal positions after getting squeezed by Krabby. It's little jokes like this that amuse me.

"A phone booth!" Well, this episode is immediately dated.

The segment with the Pokemon talking to each other and it being subtitled is great tbh.

LMAO Meowth basically says that Jessie and James only have one brain cell… They're canonically very dump.

I love the fact that Ekans and Koffing do not give a shit about Meowth. They've got the right idea.

Squirtle is a shithead. You go, Squirtle.

THE MOTTO OVER THE PHONE… TO GIOVANNI. Yeah, they're very dumb indeed.

The "Yo! Brother!" moment is cute.

Jessie and James canonically hold hands in this episode! :)

Haha… the next episode is the infamous one with James boobs. I'll be doing it justice and watching it in Japanese, don't worry. (I know it was dubbed in English, but like, that doesn't have James boobs, so what's the point?! /s)

Pokemon Episode 14

Is the name "Joy" meant to be a pun on "Joi", or "Female Doctor", or am I thinking too much into it?

In all the scenes where Ash and Misty are arguing, Brock stands there doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. He's pretty useless, really.

Lt. Surge is the most American anime character outside of, like, Hetalia's America, lol. Fuse them together and you have the ultimate American stereotype!

Why's Surge being weird about Misty... Dude c'mon now.

Raichu is cool, actually. I really like Raichu.

The cross on Joy's hat keeps changing between orange and green and it's annoying me.

I like that Team Rocket are cheering for Pikachu, even if it is somewhat out of selfishness.

Anyway this is the first instance of a Team Rocket disguise and the first instance of Jessie crossdressing (the ouendan clothing is masculine). Nice.

Oh, hey, it's a gym battle Ash actually wins properly!

Apparently there was an untranslatable pun with the Koffing scene? I'm all for TR slapstick though.

"Drat! We wasted this episode cheering the good guys!" You sure did!

Pokemon Episode 13

The dialogue is weird in this one. There are several odd pauses and whatnot to try and match the lip movements.

Bill has a carving of Mewtwo on his door somehow lol

Bill's English accent is bad. His voice in general is bad.

Gary's Krabby being hueg and Ash's being smol is funny.

If Team Rocket are afraid of heights why are they always in a hot air balloon? 4KIDS you make no sense.

"So size does matter". What are you trying to say, James?

Is this the first instance of Team Rocket feeling bad about their actions? I want to say it is.

"Bill, do you think we'll ever find all the Pokemon there are?" "No, Ash. There are probably as many as we can imagine." Yeah, 1008...

This episode sucks, honestly. A couple of slightly amusing jokes but that's it. Bill is a terrible COTD.
