And the latest (and greatest?) entrant into the bleeding Olympics - Seun Ho.
I have to say, how does anyone function in this society when, no matter how high up, you can be dragged off and tortured within an inch of your life at any moment? I mean, SH and Hwi should forget their issues and create a Spartacus club - I am pretty sure 90% of the country would join them.
Also, I do think Seon Ho is the most complex character in this - the set up with him and Hwi both being protagonists reminds me a lot of Chuno, which also had two male protags, one of whom was a tortured heroic one and the other a dark antihero with some deeply hidden morals who you didn’t know to love or hate.
Because on one hand, he is ruthless, he betrayed his best friend to horrors (when he hit Hwi in this ep for double crossing him, I wanted to hit him back through the screen- now you know what it’s like to be double crossed by someone you trusted, enjoy!) but on the other, despite his bitter words to Hwi in the shed, he still has been unable to let go of his attachment to Hwi (though after insane severe torture where I was wondering how he not died, I’ d not blame him if he gives those feelings up in the future) and then there is the way he treats Yeon. He is not in love with her and views her as a quasi-little-sister but think about it. There is no profit in it for him but he is genuinely good to her. When he knows he is about to be taken off for gruesome torture, he still takes time to make sure to make up a cover story for her so she won’t worry (of course his dad wrecks it later, what else is new); when he is released from prison and is staggering home barely alive, he is not freaking out about his severe trauma, he is freaking out about her small injuries. Yeon is the one person to whom he is unstintingly good - because she is helpless and a safe remnant of Hwi and she idolizes him, sure - but it makes sense he lavishes care on an emotionally safe choice. Living with Daddy Satan, it’s no surprise he tries to be emotionally safe, the only surprise is he hasn’t been able to destroy his capacity for caring entirely.
I mean, the man leaves his only son to rot and be tortured and only rescues him when he needs him and even then he drops the keys at his feet like he’s an animal and walks off, leaving the tortured, barely moving man to get home across town on his own. The last cap is SH’s face when the guard comments on how nice it is to have a high-ranking father and yes yes yes indeed. (His comment to Hwi in the shed that he had a hard life is eye-rolling - Hwi had a much harder life from childhood; but despite SH’s off-putting tendency to self pity, he is not incorrect - while Hwi might not be the person you want to compare miseries with, SH’s childhood and life until now has been pretty much a shitshow. How much chance did he really have to ever be a moral person - he hasn’t even had a decent foundation.)
Speaking of Daddy Satan, it’s obviously pretty clear what the past story is now. Daddy Satan was part of conspiracy to murder Taejo back way when but double crossed his fellow conspirators. He was able to destroy all the incriminating papers except for one set - that one guy gave them to Hui Jae’s mom (whether because she was his wife, concubine or just a friendly kisaeng, who knows.) Daddy Satan sent murderers after the mom and HJ and Hwi’s dad rescued the girl and half the paper somehow. And SH’s dad had Hwi’s dad framed and murdered. Daddy Satan has zero morals after all - when he tells Bang Won the country is for the subjects, this sounds nice but we all know he means himself.
And speaking of Bang Won.
Jang Hyuk continues to slay in the role, using his fan as punctuation, being violent and sharp and ambitious and brave and messed up. He is the most unpredictable character of them all - you never know which way he is going to go, from letting out his immense capacity for violence to an amused laugh to a myriad of things in between. You can even see the moment he begins to genuinely like Hwi - on that bridge - crazy calls to crazy. I do still want to know how Hwi will become so loyal - it makes sense that he likes Bang Won’s nerve and he sees himself mirrored as someone who performed a service and got thrown away (it was a made up speech but not really made up, you know) and he has the same goal of taking out Yi Seung Gye. But Bang Won is, his many positive qualities aside, a terrifying psychopath on some level and I am not sure how Hwi will become his right hand who genuinely obeys the man 100%. It’s not unrealistic - back then you had to be like that to succeed and grand princes have different standards than a modern person, but it would be surprising (though cool) to have a drama acknowledge that.
PS YSG is just scum. He knows SH was only trying to bring down Bang Won on his orders and that he actually got trapped but he has no problem throwing him under the bus. Ugh. Not saying Bang Won wouldn’t do that, but at least he won’t be a pious hypocrite about it.

A list of eliminated P101S2 trainees/artists who I’m keeping my eyes on
Kim Jonghyun, Kang Donho, and Choi Minki (+ Aron) / Pledis - Nu’EST’s comeback better be the one they deserve Pledis >.> Y’all are worse than Mnet when it comes to handling Nu’EST. (trust me if I could be their manager I would be there in heartbeat)
Kim Samuel / Brave - He’s been through a lot even though he’s so young... but that’s also a good thing. He’s young, he still has plenty of chances in the future to be in a group, so I’ll have hold out some hope. For now, I’m excited to see his solo. I will support his future endeavors because I trust his talent.
JUNG SEWOON and Lee Gwanghyun / MY STARSHIP BABIES <3 ILY SO MUCH I WANNA SEE YOU TWO RISE! I already miss Sewoon T_T I shouldn’t have to say it but I freaking love Jung Sewoon <3 Gwanghyun we didn’t get enough screen time of but he reminds me of a puppy and I’m adopting him.
Im Youngmin and Kim Donghyun / Brand New Music - ALPACA AND DONG DONG, legit close to tears every time I think of these two because of their friendship with the other BNM kids (and with Sewoon *cough**cough*) Seriously though Donghyun’s voice is great and under appreciated for some reason. Youngmin’s raps have a nice flow and he clearly knows how to work a stage. All the BNM kids do. Such talent, much wow, I love <3
Kwon Hyunbin / YGK+ - My son, though he doesn’t look like it. Seriously bless him because he gives us faster updates on our favs than the Korean News.
Lee Gunhee and Yeo Hwanwoong / RBW - Yes. Memes. Vocals. What’s not to love? XD Sadly, I don’t know the other RBW kids as well but if they debut together, I will learn.
Seo Sunghyuk / WH Creative - I. LOVE. HIM. Ever since he banged his head on the table he’s caught my eye. The more I saw the more I loved, and when he left the harder I cried. He had the MOST stable vocals I’ve ever seen. Like shit he hard carried the I Know You Know stage and made it look like fun. I am DEFINITELY looking forward to his debut.
Kim Yongguk and Kim Sihyun / Chun - Kim Yongguk is a total package of awesome. He can sing, he’s a decent dancer, he’s funny af without trying to be, and he look at him, just look at him. I love how he grew out of his shell and I’ve stalking his VLIVEs. I don’t know much about Kim Sihyun but damn that is one pretty boy. Plus he likes to roast Yongguk so he’s good with me.
Kim Taedong / The Vibe Label - They didn’t show much of him but he always stood out in performances and he seems like a nice person.
Noh Taehyun / Ardor & Able - HOTSHOT has been fire since debut. Enough said.
Jang Moonbok / ONO - Mnet sucked with editing him, but he’s honestly got this vibe that makes you want to believe in him. I think that’s what took him so far. He might not be the best out there but damn is he inspiring.
Lee Woojin / Media Line - Woojin is my other son. He reminds me of VIXX’s Hyuk when Hyuk was small and not Satan. Despite the fact that his voice is changing, he’s a good singer. Someone like him could go far in the future.
Ahn Hyungseob, Lee Euiwoong, Jung Jung, Justin (and Choi Seunghyuk) / Yuehua - The reason I put Seunghyuk in parenthesis is because I know little to nothing about him. I cringe at them but I cringe with love. They are the maknae line but somehow their own group.
Joo Haknyeon / Cre.Ker - I’ll admit I’m not fond of him, but I feel horrible for him. I really really want to see him improve himself and grow past his misgivings. I’m not a fan but rather someone who is willing to give him a chance if he grows.
Who are you guys looking out for?

Suspicious Partner Episode 28
Full circle. The show started with Bong-hee and Ji-wook agreeing to sleep together and now they have finally delivered. One of the strongest points of the show is how it portrays relationships in a way where we can relate to the characters on different levels, from friendship to love and family, their interactions are always rooted in reality and familiarity of some kind. I like it.
Bong-hee and Ji-wook’s relationship, and their romance, went through different facets until they reached a point where their friendship, companionship and love for each other is strong enough to be together as a couple. This way the show can portray them doing what couples do in real life: they laugh, banter, share tension, fight, want each other, touch, love and have sex. And that’s okay and even healthy for a show to portray. It’s -in most cases- what happens when you date. I like it so much better when Dramaland presents me this kind of relationship instead of the idealized one where everything it’s shyness and innocence. Those kind of relationships are also something that is okay be portrayed, especially if the characters are at that point in their lives, but it wouldn’t fit with the kind of the show that it’s Suspicious Partner.
I was not expecting this to happen. He kisses her, she throws the laundry to the floor, clean clothes be damned, and next thing we know they are in full make out session falling into the bed. RAWR! HOT DAMN. It’s all happening. And I need to fan myself. It was fun, sexy, passionate and sweet, just like Ji-wook and Bong-hee.
Of course, as blissful the good and happy times were... we have to deal with the bad and ugly too. Ji-wook seeing Bong-hee’s father picture at that moment was the worst thing ever. And I want to comment on Ji Chang-wook’s acting once again because with only with his eyes, he completely transmitted the fear and confusion going through Ji-wook at that moment. He doesn’t know even half of the truth, but thankfully we do. So, let’s not panic and just deal carefully with the humongous amount of palpitations today’s episode and that freaking cliffhanger gave us.
This is what we know for sure: first scene and the show is already spelling out to us that DA Jang is a corrupted bastard covering up the truth for his own benefit. Nothing we didn’t already knew. And sure enough, next thing we know Ji-wook and Bong-hee both voice out their refusal to take a case involving arson since their respective fathers died in a fire. But why be subtle when the show let’s you see DA Jang with child Ji-wook telling him who killed his parents. Covering his ass? Yes. DA Jang’s is Satan’s whore. And that’s that, we know who the real culprit is.
As much as Ji-wook holds his parents dear and close to his heart, I think he has also proven to be a man of cool thinking when the time calls for it, which is why I don’t believe he will do something stupid like destroy his relationship with Bong-hee before getting most if not all the facts first. As a matter of fact, I believe he won’t break up with her at all and that from now on they both will have to resolve the mystery surrounding their parents. This is why I have been going on and on for the last couple of weeks about them nurturing their relationship and growing as a team before they find out this ugly connection between them, because the last thing they and we need is for separation angst. Let’s not do it, show, you have already proven to be full of surprises, so don’t go the predictable way.
Going back to the good, it’s really nice to have Chief Bang back at the law firm and bringing back the fun dynamic between him and Eun-hyuk. It’s only right the Captain and maritime pilot of our ship were present when the mothers finally find out who is who and Ji-wook announced their relationship out in the open. Pfffft! This show knows how to build up a scene and squeeze it until the last drop of comedy gold.
I also love the new running joke of Ji-hae under the delusion that Eun-hyuk has a thing for her, to which I say: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAAHAHAAA! The moment he laughed at her, after her brawl with Bong-hee, I knew the show was going to do something with these two, I just didn’t know what. In the end it’s building something so good, I can hardly wait to see Ji-hae make a fool of herself when she finds out Eun-hyuk still cares for Yoo-jung. Question is how does Yoo-jung, who is growing closer with Ji-hae, feels about him? Oh, this is going to be a great comedy of errors.
PS: Hyun-soo’s case isn’t over yet! He is waking up, what does it mean? Will we find out the truth behind his actions? What about the man who ran over him? And where in the world is Chan-ho?!
