My Story in a Late Style of Fire  // Larry Levis
Whenever I listen to Billie Holiday, I am reminded That I, too, was once banished from New York City. Not because of drugs or because I was interesting enough For any wan, overworked patrolman to worry about— His expression usually a great, gauzy spiderweb of bewilderment Over his face—I was banished from New York City by a woman. Sometimes, after we had stopped laughing, I would look At her & and see a cold note of sorrow or puzzlement go Over her face as if someone else were there, behind it, Not laughing at all. We were, I think, “in love.” No, I’m sure. If my house burned down tomorrow morning, & if I & my wife And son stood looking on at the flames, & if, then Someone stepped out of the crowd of bystanders And said to me: “Didn’t you once know. . . ?” No. But if One of the flames, rising up in the scherzo of fire, turned All the windows blank with light, & if that flame could speak, And if it said to me: “You loved her, didn’t you?” I’d answer, Hands in my pockets, “Yes.” And then I’d let fire & misfortune Overwhelm my life. Sometimes, remembering those days, I watch a warm, dry wind bothering a whole line of elms And maples along a street in this neighborhood until They’re all moving at once, until I feel just like them, Trembling & in unison. None of this matters now, But I never felt alone all that year, & if I had sorrows, I also had laughter, the affliction of angels & children. Which can set a whole house on fire if you’d let it. And even then You might still laugh to see all of your belongings set you free In one long choiring of flames that sang only to you— Either because no one else could hear them, or because No one else wanted to. And, mostly, because they know. They know such music cannot last, & that it would Tear them apart if they listened. In those days, I was, in fact, already married, just as I am now, Although to another woman. And that day I could have stayed In New York. I had friends there. I could have strayed Up Lexington Avenue, or down to Third, & caught a faint Glistening of the sea between the buildings. But all I wanted Was to hold her all morning, until her body was, again, A bright field, or until we both reached some thicket As if at the end of a lane, or at the end of all desire, And where we could, therefore, be alone again, & make Some dignity out of loneliness. As, mostly, people cannot do. Billie Holiday, whose life was shorter & more humiliating Than my own, would have understood all this, if only Because even in her late addiction & her bloodstream’s Hallelujahs, she, too, sang often of some affair, or someone Gone, & therefore permanent. And sometimes she sang for Nothing, even then, & it isn’t anyone’s business, if she did. That morning, when she asked me to leave, wearing only The apricot tinted, fraying chemise, I wanted to stay. But I also wanted to go, to lose her suddenly, almost For no reason, & certainly without any explanation. I remember looking down at a pair of singular tracks Made in a light snow the night before, at how they were Gradually effacing themselves beneath the tires Of the morning traffic, & thinking that my only other choice Was fire, ashes, abandonment, solitude. All of which happened Anyway, & soon after, & by divorce. I know this isn’t much. But I wanted to explain this life to you, even if I had to become, over the years, someone else to do it. You have to think of me what you think of me. I had To live my life, even its late, florid style. Before You judge this, think of her. Then think of fire, Its laughter, the music of splintering beams & glass, The flames reaching through the second story of a house Almost as if to—mistakenly—rescue someone who Left you years ago. It is so American, fire. So like us. Its desolation. And its eventual, brief triumph.

“The answer is yes if you were wondering if y’all were spoiled. Whew, Chile. Don’t ask me for NOTHIN’ else.” Zion chuckled sweetly as she dramatically cleared her throat. “Lets get into it. Welcome back to another episode of the Note to Self podcast where we talk all things self care of the body, spirit, mind, work ethic, sprinkled in with a whole lot of motivation to carry us into a new day. I am your host Zion Taylor and with me in my makeshift studio is my lil baby who listens to all of my problems, my boss friend THEEEEE Brilliant O’neal.” Zion air claps as she smiles over at Brilliant. “How are you on this lovely day, mama?”
“Hey, hey, hey! I’m so excited to speak to the note to self listeners all over, it’s been fun listening in and making my own input here and there but wheww being here feels so rewarding.” She said warmly before playfully exhaling. “I’m doing good, managing like I usually do but good nonetheless. How are you?! What jewels do you plan on dropping for the people today?”
“I’m probably doin’ a little less good than you since you’re managing but girl .. I cannot complain at all. So thankful to have you here for this episode and to just catch up. We’ll get into the tea of it all a little later. We start every episode with a brief recap and I wanted to thank everyone, again, for all of the love. I hope you all were inspired to really keep killing shit in the industry that you’re in and watch the doors open up for you. Last weeks top listeners were the beauty that is known as @royalnike who spoke about her Black Owned Mechanic business and the short term goals that she has for herself in that business. Of course you, Mrs. Brilli Dis, founder and owner of The Glamour Parlor, and the beautiful @syxrai, who I’m obsessed with on IG by the way, but who also is a film producer ALL shared your short term goals which inspired me tremendously. If you missed out on that go give it a listen and drop your own goals in the comment section.
Music is the only thing that gets me through my week sometimes. This week is on you because Channing is still pressed about Good Days so that shit rings in my head every day because of her.” Zion laughed, “What have you been listening to this week? Any new music you wanna share? Put us on.
Brilliant cracked up in laughter at the mention of Channing. “That baby got taste, because that’s my jam! But this week I’ve been on my Gangsta Brilli, I’ve been playing A Gangsta’s Pain by MoneyBagg on repeat. I think his track with Jhené is the perfect vibe, so if y’all need something to vibe to, with a nice little glass of wine, One of Dem Nights, but the whole album bops.”
“Okaaaay. Now see I haven’t always been a MoneyBaggYo fan up until his songs started getting airtime on the radio. I’ma definitely have to give that a listen once Channing is done boppin’ to her fave.
And that brings us right into the TEA for the day. I’ve known Brilliant for several years now and I feel like I’ve only known her as this amazing business women, wife and mother. We both know how crazy it can be going from Hashtag Living Single to Mommy Duties real quick once you’re married and have wifely duties, etc. How long did you know your Husband before you two decided to make it official AND tie the knot? Was marrying young something that you were open to or did it not matter? What’s that young love story you can’t wait to share with your kids?” Zion smiled as she looked over at Brilliant.
“So I always tell people that me and my husband’s love story is literally crazy, and I don’t think it could’ve happened any other way. Because were short on time, for the real how we met tea, watch our YouTube video! But..I think we dated for about a year before I got pregnant and just because of the type of man he is and how in love we were, and how happy we were when our son Justice was born, we got married when he was about 3 months. I honestly didn’t see myself marrying that young or having children..and my life did a whole 180. I just thought damn I’ll probably hate it here but when you have that person to make those defining moments with..it was a breeze and I found myself being happier with my little family than when I ran the streets. I don’t think marrying young is for everyone but when you make the right decision..man the moments you’ll create..priceless. Still a hot girl though, don’t get that twisted.” She said with a playful laugh.
“EXACTLYYY. I have to remind Lex all the time when he sees me playing dress up in my boots and coochie cutters that mama BEEN a stallion, okay?! Hot Girl Summer me, please!” She laughed, “No but seriously the feeeeels. I’m obsessed with the love you two have for each other. It’s infectious. But I’m sure it hasn’t always been cupcakes and rainbows, right. Y’all, shit gets real after the wedding and the vows and even after that honeymoon phase. I know for me and Carmelo, I’m more of the opinionated one and I really had to learn to step down and let my man LEAD our home. We were pregnant before the wedding ... liiike ya girl had her dress taken OUT 4 times before I was satisfied with how my hips looked in it.” She chuckled, “You said something so special, when you have that person to make memories with you will DEFINITELY not want to live a single day without them and expanding that love into children only makes it better. Melo was trying to get me pregnant BEFORE he proposed to me and I wasn’t having it because at the time I was dealing with fertility issues and having a baby seemed damn near impossible. I always say that he spoke the life of our son, Lexington, into existence because I didn’t think that I could physically carry.” She stated, smiling again at the thought.
“I remember you alls last video where you announced the pregnancy of my other child, Jewel” She chuckled, “Um, what was the experience like for you? Having to go through all that you did for the blessing that is currently your literal shadow. She looks like her Daddy but has your everything else. What was that like?”
“That’s your child for sure.” She said with a laugh. “It was actually on the difficult side, she’s my rainbow baby. I suffered a miscarriage and some issues with fertility so I actually got pregnant with Jewel through IVF. I adore her, it’s scary having a mini version of myself. Someone who’s with all my hair, makeup and nail antics because my son Justice is not with it at all! He won’t even let me take his picture half the time.” She laughed momentarily. “I know it’s the same way with you and my baby Channing”
“I can imagine it being extremely difficult. When God’s mind is made up we can only pray that He’s included us in His plans and when he made Channing? He definitely had me in mind.” She laughed. “I still don’t know how we got so lucky but I don’t question anything. She’s obsessed with all of my clothes and hair and everything in between.”
“The last thing I wanted to talk to you about is what’s been going on in the media with Porsha, Falynn, and the Husband who I don’t even know his name yet. So Porsha Williams brought onto the Real Housewives of Atlanta show her friend Falynn a few years ago. Maybe like two seasons ago. This is someone who was also featured on this last season of the RHOA show that was filmed in 2020. Apparently the two are no longer friends and Porsha is now ENGAGED to Falynns’ Husband because they haven’t even gotten a divorce yet. I wan’t to know your thoughts on the whole situation. What type of friendship dynamic do you think they had for Porsha to be comfortable MARRYING this man?”
“Engaged. To. A. Former. Friend’s. Husband.” She said slowly before letting out a low sigh. “Now, the first mistake she made was being engaged or dating a man who is still married. I don’t care what the circumstances are, he is legally married! It is literally code and decency not to date or marry after your friends. If y’all are friends or have ever called each other friends, that’s just unacceptable. I would beat the breaks off anyone I called a friend for going after my husband if we ever were to divorce. That’s just grimy and I don’t think Falynn is mad enough. I do know though, one of my followers who is a hair stylist said how she married one of her old client’s ex husband and child’s father. Do you think that’s acceptable? Say I did a woman’s hair for years and nothing besides that and I went on to date her ex?”
“Absolutely not. Unacceptable and I’m the type of crazy that belongs in jail so you already know how that’s gone gooo. It’ll forever be up until they give me life.” Zion laughed and shook her head, “Period. Porsha is most definitey a fucked up individual but I would LOVE to hear y’alls thoughts on the matter so leave alll comments in the comment section below.”
“Thank you all so much for listening to me and Brilliant catch up. Brilliant please tell my listeners where they can follow you and how they can support The Glamour Parlour. Alsooo, when’s the next brunch or giveaway?”
“It has been sooo fun talking with you! I’m glad I got the opportunity to talk with to boss friend Zion! I get this question a lot..so often.” She let out a low laugh. “All I’ll say is to stay tuned, we’ll be turning up soon and the giveaways won’t stop!”
“Ayyyy so there it is people, the beautiful Brilliant O’neal. Be sure to check her out across all social media platforms at @brillixdis and I’ll talk to you in the next episode. Byyyyyyyye.”

Mercy Me - Part One
Tumblr media
Summary: Jacqueline Laymore can’t really tell when it started to hurt to call Spencer her friend. But that didn’t really matter after she got kidnapped. Right now all that matters is getting home and getting Spencer Reid.
Warnings: Angsty? Mentions of self harm, suicidal ideation, death, kidnapping, is catholic guilt a warning? culty vibes, mentions of torture, and a very small mention of rape and gouging one’s eyes out.
Word Count: 1.3k (its a babey for the first part)
A/N: this is one of my first fanfictions on tumblr and in this fandom, so idk be nice or like really mean, criticize me, i don’t really mind. i used to write aphmau fanfiction nothing really hurts at this point. also this is an original female character fic because i for real can not write fic in the y/n format and i’ve had this idea for a while. it took a lot of effort to post this without puking in anxiety first but i hope it goes well ig.
If Jacqueline was going to die right then and there, she would have frankly been pissed. Sitting in the bathtub with blood seeping out of shallow cuts on her thighs would not be a great way to go. It’s especially stupid because they weren’t even new. Jacqueline knew better than to cut in the tub.
Especially since she’d been clean before the incident.
She wondered if that was the time to back up and take a second to think. Think about her wrongdoings.
Of course, Gabriel doesn’t give her the release of death and instead shot himself in the neck. Her eyes, always the worst part of her body, follow the arterial spray as it stains the yellowing ceilings. She almost wants to take the revolver and shoot herself in the head, but that would contaminate the crime scene.
Jacqueline is smarter than that. But the revolver is so close to her. Yet just out of reach.
Everything seems to be just out of reach when you’re kidnapped.
But everything is moot compared to the digging feeling in her stomach telling her that the gun still has five more rounds.
She doesn’t. Of course, there is more to her life than being a martyr for another’s sins. That isn’t what Father Julien said when she was younger, but Father Julian also tried to gouge out her eyes in the town square.
Father Julian did a lot of things, talking about the grace of God wasn’t one of them. But what can you really expect from a man that creates a psychopath? Jacqueline dug the heels of her hands into her eyes, creating swirling patterns behind her eyelids. Phosphenes. She can hear him say it. Spencer always made sure to tell her the weirdest facts he could remember. She can’t remember most of them but sometimes his voice pops up in her head reminding her of them.
A lot of things pop up in Jacqueline’s head these days. She smoothed her hair back with the water on her hands and stepped awkwardly out of the tub. Taking two towels from the rack on the wall, she wrapped up her hair and body. Carefully stepping around Gabriel’s body and blood pool she enters the bedroom. For a cheap motel, it was quite clean. Frankly, it wouldn’t be half bad if the carpet wasn’t a brown color and she didn’t come with the guy who kidnapped her. She dug through Gabriel’s luggage until she found yet another, white cotton sundress. It wasn’t a bad dress, quite pretty in reality. It was the situation that made it the ugliest rag Jacqueline had ever seen. It fell to just below her knees and the bodice fit her waist perfectly, the spaghetti straps dug into her shoulders but it could have been much, much worse.
Jacqueline would have liked the dress in another life. However, Gabriel had a thing for the whole ‘white equals purity’ thing and tortured her in a dress similar to the one she was putting on.
She stopped putting the dress on. Blinking through the tears forming in her line of sight, Jacqueline searches for a shirt and a pair of pants that could maybe fit her. She found Gabriel’s taupe button-up and slipped it over her shoulders, buttoning the front up to the third button. After digging a little more she finds a pair of army green pants, a little too high waisted for such a masculine man but she puts them on. Luckily Gabriel also had a pair of hiking boots which Jacqueline took the shoelace out of and used it as a belt.
The sandals that she wore when out with Gabriel would have to do, though it looked a little silly. Jacqueline took her hair out of the towel and ruffled it up a little, she always hated leaving her thick, wavy hair without product in it but it’s better than brushing it. The bangs brushing against the bridge of her nose are going to make her cry though. She used to hate how she looked in bangs but now, with Gabriel’s praises ringing in her ears, she almost likes the way they frame her face.
Almost.
Jacqueline grabbed Gabriel’s wallet on the way out of their hotel room.
The secretary looked at Jacqueline funny as she checked out. Granted, it was well deserved, Jacqueline looked like a mess of men’s clothing. She also was leaving without Gabriel, which sounded a little unheard of considering he didn’t even let her speak when they checked in.
Jacqueline wanted to call the police so the maid didn’t get a nasty surprise. She didn’t have a phone on her but she walked to the payphone on the street corner and quickly called 911.
“Hi, Hello. Y-yes… I… I need to report a suicide at Maple Leaf Motel, room 3C. My… My p-partner shot himself in the neck!” She wailed into the phone before hanging up. She was always good at faking things. Right now, faking composure seems to be the only thing keeping her sane.
Time to catch a flight to Quantico, Virginia.
Or, more likely, hitchhike. If there was anything Jacqueline had learned in her nine years with the BAU is to not hitchhike. But she had about two hundred and fifty dollars and the clothes on her back. And if anything she could pay for some gas and maybe use the self-defense that Morgan taught her. She knew that from where she was it would be around twenty days by foot. A twenty-hour car ride. And maybe a five-hour flight depending on the airport. The closest 'big' town near Maple Leaf was Lexington.
And deep down, Jacqueline really wanted to take a road trip. Nebraska is quite a pretty state. Though walking would be a little excessive considering she's technically been off for two months already.
The fact that she’d been with Gabriel for two months sent shivers down Jacqueline’s spine. The bureau wouldn't take her vacation days away for being kidnapped but you never really know with the government, do you? She started walking to the library when she realized that she could email Strauss and talk about her job and how fast she can be reinstated. Luckily the library was a few blocks down the street.
"Hello, dear! What can I help you with today?" The elderly woman behind the help desk smiled. Jacqueline figured that they didn't get that many people inside the small library.
Jacqueline forced a smile and walked up to the desk, "Can I use one of the computers? I need to email my boss about my... vacation."
The librarian gives Jacqueline a sugary sweet smile. "May I, Deary," The librarian corrected.
"Right," Jacqueline drawls. The librarian walked her to a clunky old computer and logged on before shoving Jacqueline down into the seat. Jacqueline goes through google to find her email service and quickly write one to Strauss. Strauss responded quickly, a short email reading:
Dear Agent Laymore,
You're thought to be dead. I can not grant you the ability to step into your building for recertification and discussions of reinstating you until you prove otherwise.
Erin Strauss
Jacqueline responded:
Dear Erin,
You're supposed to be nicer to people who are held as a hostage. Anyways, I guess a way to prove my identity would be that I can sing 'On My Own' from Les Mis perfectly, I know you have heard me do it. And that your husband divorced you after he gave you half of his liver due to your liver cirrhosis. You told me this one night when I was crying over my brother killing himself and getting disowned. I am the only person on the current team (I assume, though I'm sure Rossi knows ;D) who has that information on you.
With love,
Dr. Jacqueline Laymore PsyD
Ps. Please don't give my job away because I made a joke.
Erin responded with a very annoyed emailing detailing what they will discuss once Jacqueline reaches Quantico. With a valid ID of course.
Now the hard part, finding someone who wasn't a serial killer to hitchhike with. For at least twenty-four hours. In a car.
Spencer's voice called out in the back of Jacqueline's head, reminding her that there is a 0.0000086% of being killed or raped while hitchhiking.

PERSONALITY PROFILE
(FAMOUS PERSON)
Tumblr media
Marilyn Monroe
Monroe was born, Norma Jeane Mortenson, in June 1926. Her mother was Gladys Pearl Baker (née Monroe, 1902–84) Her father was unknown and she was baptised as Norma Jeane Baker. Her mother Gladys had a turbulent mental state and struggled to cope with bringing up her children. For the first six years, Marilyn was brought up by foster parents, Albert and Ida Bolender in the town of Hawthorne, California. Her mother then tried to take back Marilyn, but she suffered a mental breakdown and Marilyn was moved between different orphanages and foster homes. The traumatic childhood made her shy and reserved. Just after her 16th birthday, in 1942, Monroe married her 21-year-old, next-door neighbour Jimmy Dougherty. Marilyn became a housewife, but the couple were not close, and Monroe reports being bored. In 1943, her husband left to join the Merchant Marines to participate in America’s War effort. They split up shortly after.
Marilyn took a job at a local munitions factory in Burbank, California. It was here that Marilyn got her first big break. Photographer David Conover was covering the munitions factory to show women at work for the War effort. He was struck by the beauty and photogenic nature of Norma, and he used her in many of his photographs. This enabled her to start a career as a model, and she was soon featured on the front of many magazine covers. In 1946 was a pivotal year for Marilyn, she divorced her young husband and changed her name from, the boring, Norma Baker to the more glamorous Marilyn Monroe (after her grandma). She took drama lessons and got her first movie contract with Twentieth Century Fox. Her first few films were low key, but from these beginnings, it gained her more prominent roles in films such as All About Eve, Niagara and later Gentleman Prefer Blondes and How To Marry A Millionaire.
These successful film roles thrust her into the global limelight. She became an iconic figure of Hollywood glamour and fashion. She was an epitome of sensuality, beauty and effervescence and was naturally photogenic. But she often found the trappings of fame difficult to deal with.
In 1954, she married baseball star Joe DiMaggio, a friend of over two years. Monroe was now one of the biggest box-office draws of Hollywood, but her contract, negotiated in 1950, left her paid less than other stars. Also, Monroe didn’t wish to be typecast as a ‘blonde bombshell’ – just playing simple roles in comedies and musicals. In a dispute over pay and choice of acting, she was temporarily suspended by 20th Century Fox, but eventually, they acceded to some of Monroe’s demands and gave her higher pay. In September 1954, she starred in The Seven Year Itch, which was released to widespread media interest – after a successful media stunt on Lexington Avenue, New York.
In 1955, she sought greater independence from Fox, and began her own movie production and began studying method acting. Despite the media often being dismissive of Monroe’s potential, her efforts to improve acting paid off, and later films received critical acclaim for her wider scope of acting. She was nominated for Golden Globe Best Actress Award for Bus Stop (1956). In 1959, she won a Golden Globe for her role in ‘Some Like It Hot‘.
Her relationship with Joe DiMaggio was quickly strained, due to his jealous and controlling nature. Monroe soon filed for divorce, though the couple retained a friendship despite the divorce. Monroe began dating playwright Arthur Miller and in 1956 married. To get married, Monroe converted to Judaism. The marriage received significant media interest for the combination of Miller the left-wing intellectual and Monroe, the perceived ‘dumb blonde’. The marriage was sometimes referred to, rather unkindly, as “Egghead Weds Hourglass”.
To complicate matters, Miller was under investigation for his alleged “Communist sympathies”, and media bosses encouraged Monroe to end the relationship, but Monroe was unmoved. The FBI opened a file on her, worried about the political views of her husband.
In the late 1950s, and early 1960, her health began to deteriorate. She suffered from a Barbiturate addiction and experienced periods of depression. Her marriage to Miller broke down, and she had affairs with Yves Montand, Frank Sinatra and others. During the 1960s, her ill health made shooting films challenging, and production was often delayed. She was still in great demand and often appeared on the front cover of glossy magazines. In 1962, she was invited to the White House to sing for J.F. Kennedy’s birthday.
Tragically, she died early from an overdose of barbiturates in 1962 aged just 36.
Although Monroe cultivated an image of the ‘dumb blonde’ – in fact, her image and persona was something she took care to cultivate and develop – through the media and the strength of her acting. Although many were dismissive at the time, she took on the powerful Hollywood studio system and, against expectations, developed her acting career with her own intentions. However, behind her confident public persona, she struggled with relationships and resorted to a heavy drug use, which had a damaging impact on both her mental and physical health. In one sense, Monroe lived the American dream – rising from anonymity to become a famous actress, but it was a dream tinged with sadness for fame did not bring peace of mind or happiness.

Hey everyone. Here's the most recent true crime cases I've covered.
Original post can be viewed HERE<<
Also Tumblr has recently deemed a lot of my posts inappropriate so if you want to read my stuff you can go to the blog HERE<< Thanks :) -Remember the disappearance of  of Timmothy Pitzen in 2011? To refresh you on the case, the six year old's mother took him out of school claiming there was a "family emergency". she proceeded to take him to a zoo and water park before committing suicide in a hotel room. Timmothy Pitzen was never found. Then, in April 2019 a man found wandering the streets of Kentucky claimed to be the missing boy. (continue reading) -Next up, the murder of Grace Packer. This has got to be one of the most disturbing crimes I think I've ever covered. Needless to say reader discretion is advised.Grace was adopted when she was a toddler and suffered abuse at the hands of her foster father. He was jailed for his crime but the abuse would not stop there. Soon after her mother divorced she was introduced to a whole new monster. (read this story) -11 year old Amberly Alexis Barnett went missing from her Aunt’s mobile home in Alabama in March. Neighbors and police searched for the child but failed to locate her. 33 year old man named Christopher Wayne Madison was one of the neighbors involved in the search, but investigators would come to find out that he was much more involved than he first let on. (read the full story) -When Diana Alejandra Keel went missing her husband didn't seem too concerned. By the time Keel's body was discovered in a rural area not far from their home, her husband, Rexford Lynn Keel Jr was already several states away.  Deeper investigation into the case revealed that the accident that killed his previous wife may not have been an accident at all. (read) -On the 20th of December, 2018, the Effingham county sheriff's office received a phone call concerning the well-being of a local teenage girl named Mary Crocker. The caller said she “feared” for the 14 year old girl’s safety after learning disturbing information about the child’s abusive home life. The mystery of two missing children from an Effingham County began to unravel. (continue) -The last time anyone saw 19 year old Molley Lanham and 18 year old Thomas Grill alive was February 25th. The couple went missing from Indiana after going out for a drive in their black Honda Civic over a week ago, leaving behind no clues to their whereabouts. But an anonymous tip submitted to the Porter County Sheriff’s Office  lead officers to arrest a suspect in what is now considered a possible double homicide.(read this story) -On Friday July 6th 1973, an 11 year old girl named Linda O’Keefe went missing while walking home from Lincoln Intermediate School in Corona Del Mar.Witnesses who saw Linda walk home that day came forward to report a suspicious man in a dark turquoise van. One of her classmates said that she saw the van approach the missing girl, however she couldn’t hear what was said.(continue) -Ask neighbors and acquaintances of Jerry Arnold Westrom what kind of man he was and they would describe him as a friendly and generous Hockey dad who loved his family and was very active in the local community. But the 52 year old ex- Isanti businessman had a dark history that not many were aware of. Learn how a hotdog lead to the arrest of a man who managed to evade responsibility for a cruel murder he committed in the early nineties. (read here) -On January 4th 2019, 22 year old mother of 4, Savannah Spurlock, got dressed in preparation for a night out at a local bar in Kentucky. She pulled on a figure hugging burgundy red pencil skirt, a black plunge blouse and a pair of stiletto heels before grabbing a cross body purse and heading out to the “other bar” in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. She vanished later that night after being captured on CCTV with two men. What happened to Savannah that night? (continue) -On the 5th of February 2019, a highway worker in Greenwich, Connecticut discovered a large, red, abandoned suitcase in a wooded tract, just 15 feet from the highway. The worker cautiously approached the discarded luggage near Glenville road and unzipped it to reveal the grisly contents. Inside the case was the fully clothed body of a young woman with her wrists and ankles bound. The worker pulled out his phone and contacted the local police to report the discovery (continue)

The Anatomy of Melancholy, 53
Table of Contents. Second Instar, Chapter 20. Go to previous. Go to next. ...Or maybe not broken enough. TW: mental snap, description of sources of disfigurement and injuries.
____________________________
By the time ‘Choly had crossed the base grounds, G-7 had likely stood idle outside his rowhouse for upwards of half an hour. His new uniform hung gingerly in one of its tendril pincers, in two garment bags. Wheezing hard, he snatched it from the Mister Gutsy and thanked it with a pat on its tendril, then slouched up the porch stairs. Before he even got on the porch, the front door flew open, and Angel came out to try to help him inside.
“Oh, dear, Mister Carey, do forgive me--” He swatted the air angrily at it. “Mister Hawthorne refused to wait a moment longer, and I promised both you and Miss Francis that I wouldn’t leave him alone--”
“JACOB!” Snarling, he mounted the stairs, his head running hot. “What the FUCK was so important that you couldn’t wait on me fifteen GODDAMN minutes! Angel is my fucking WHEELCHAIR--”
Standing stupid in the doorway to his bedroom, ‘Choly stopped in his tracks. Dressed again in his longshoreman’s garb, Sticks sat on the end of the bed with the Vault 111 jumpsuit slung across his lap. The ghoul’s face was all screwed up in what could either have been a smile or a grimace. He sniveled, not looking up to ‘Choly.
“What kind of sick fucking joke is this?” Sticks’s voice cracked, rough enough to nearly sound underwater. Transfixed on the blood stains, his fingers tangled up in the stab hole in the front of the otherwise royal blue bodysuit. “I was right. You are haunting my stupid ass.”
‘Choly hung up the garment bags in the open closet and sat beside him to catch his breath. Unsure what to say, he sat wheezing for some time.
“Jesus Christ,” Sticks continued at a hush with a broken pitch bottomless glare, the grimace falling slack. “Those glasses. If it’s 2077 all over again, why am I still like this--?”
“Hey. Hey, stay with me.” ‘Choly tried to put a hand on Sticks’s, but the ghoul withdrew it and let his attention knot back up in the vault suit. “I got attacked by bloodbugs on the way up Route 3. One of them got me, just under the collarbone. Would have got me through the heart, if it hadn’t been for the surgical corset. If Angel hadn’t had its Nanny tendril and programming, it wouldn’t have been able to administer the Stimpaks it did. I-- You think I got shot in the chest, don’t you?” A weak, defeated laugh escaped him. He loosed his necktie and began to unbutton his dress shirt. “I can show you the scar it left. And I know Angel would hate to produce it, but I did keep the thing’s proboscis. A sort of trophy. Angel! Bring the bloodbug proboscis, will you?”
When Sticks was uninterested in entertaining the spectacle of ‘Choly’s scars, 'Choly got up from the bed and went into the open closet to change into his new uniform. He discarded the service uniform in the floor and put his Pip-Boy atop the chest of drawers, and stood there in his undershirt and underwear by the time Angel approached with the requested object. At first the robot offered it to its owner, but he urged it to hand the foot-long hollow structure to the ghoul instead. It also offered the deathclaw’s paw with tacit displeasure.
“Please tell me we’re not taking these with us,” it complained. “You really must rethink what you keep from the awful beasts that attack you.”
“How-- a deathclaw!” The desiccating clump of mostly bone fell in the floor rather into Sticks’s lap. He brandished the proboscis at him like a knife from where he sat. “No. No, there’s no way you’re standing in front of me alive.”
‘Choly was immune to the gesture, too absorbed in getting dressed again.
“You’re convinced I’m a ghost. Is that it? Maybe I am. It would explain a lot.”
‘Choly leaned nearer his reflection in the broken full-length mirror as he fastened the brass snaps of the high-collar charcoal shirt’s wide asymmetrical strapped placket. He adjusted how the piped edge sat around his neck. Already affixed was the colonel’s eagle. He straightened to scrutinize his transformation progress, and could only continue to wonder whether accepting the promotion was a mistake. Leaning against the frame of the closet door to steady himself, the matching slacks came next. He tucked in his shirt, then argued with his ammo case harness to get the belt through the loops and the suspenders in place. He dragged his combat boots over to the bed to sit and lace them up.
“I guess I’m just struggling with the reality,” Sticks admitted quietly, “that despite everything that’s happened to you, you could possibly still be alive. It’s my understanding that the majority of people who got into the vaults didn’t usually last more than a few years, for the variety of evil shit Vault-Tec did. Forgive me for having such a hard time imagining that you survived two centuries in one, and have somehow managed to keep from getting killed by the Commonwealth ever since, having to crash course it all first hand.”
“Didn’t do it alone.” He pointed at Angel, warming to a grin, and it brought him his Pip-Boy. He folded up his right sleeve and put it back on. “I had to repair Angel for a lot of reasons, you know. Damn if it’s not foolhardy as all abandon, though! You know raiders chopped off its one laser attachment, and even though it only had its saw and pincer, it still ran headlong toward that deathclaw to keep it from ripping up the settlers that the raiders had been trying to kill!”
“If I hadn’t done something, Mister Garvey would have had to contend with the monstrosity all on his own,” Angel stated humbly. “The power armor could have only done him so much good against something so large and so angry!”
“Settlers?” Sticks mumbled after a good moment, spacing out. “There’s settlers in Lexington? They’re not raiders?”
“One of them still fancies himself a Minuteman, if that means anything to you of their substance.” When the ghoul couldn’t help a bittersweet smile, ‘Choly chuckled and patted his knee. “All that happened in Concord, actually-- and they’re living in Sanctuary now, believe it or not!”
Any good humor fell right back out of the ghoul.
"You’re kidding me.”
“Serious. I told them the vault isn’t safe--and it’s not--but they’re--” ‘Choly’s mood soured in kind, himself haunted. “The old woman’s living in Jahani’s house. Jh-- Hhha--” He squinted tight, the words difficult as he tried to divorce his sense of self from what he was now wearing. “Why did the Gutsy earlier insist you’re not a civilian? Liv doesn’t seem especially against disclosing high-ranking military intel in front of you.”
“She hasn’t said anything around me I haven’t heard before,” the ghoul shrugged, unsure how to navigate the ghost seeming more distraught than he was. “And Deenwood doesn’t consider me a civilian because it still thinks of the Furriers as off-base reserve troops. And it considers me a Furrier. And a defector, too, I guess, if we’re being honest.”
Still in the fumes of recalling his ties to Jahani, ‘Choly got up from the bed to retrieve his remembrance poppies from the top of the chest of drawers in his closet, and leaned in the door frame to thread them onto the shirt he had on. He watched Sticks expectantly, hoping for elaboration. Sticks scrunched up his mouth to one side and decided to fold up the vault suit like he’d found it.
“I was the reason for the General’s last major meltdown. Fifty years ago, I nicked a Mark V Pip-Boy from the RobCo Towers. Thought if I had sophisticated enough tech, even I could hack my way on base. But I’m sure you remember that I am and always have been rubbish with computers. She caught onto me immediately. She hit Voire with a metric fuckton of Rad-I-Canned, and had me hunted down so she could throw me in a cell on base. Had my hand ripped off me, and she gutted my Pip-Boy and turned it into... this, as a way of guaranteeing that I couldn’t try to use it against her again.” He made a face at his glove prosthesis, and dropped his hands into his lap. “Still not totally sure how I managed to convince her not to experiment on me anymore than she did. But no, ‘Choly. I swear I wasn’t going through your shit. I had to come back here, and get Angel to start packing up so you wouldn’t lose anything important if she doesn’t let us back on base, and I was in here when it started packing up your closet, and--”
“Why don’t you think she’ll let us back on base?”
“--Because someone gave away the fact you and I knew each other prewar.” He couldn’t contain a glare toward Angel, who flinched in remorse. “I guarantee she suspects some kind of foul play. The fact she’s following through with your requests at all, as closely and correctly as she has, is suspect to say the least. Either she’s that desperate to keep you doing exactly what she wants you to do, or there’s something really, really wrong.” As ‘Choly fished the knee length white overcoat from the other garment bag and put it on, Sticks motioned for Angel to come back in the room from where it had withdrawn to the hall. “Angel, those are legit insignia things, right? You can scan ‘em and tell he’s Alan Carey? A colonel...?” He shuddered, haunted afresh. “Colonel. Good god almighty it just all comes so natural to you, doesn’t it.”
“Oh, yes, of course they’re genuine,” Angel reported, its ocular lenses combing over the nameplate, ribbon rack, and other various brass and silver insignias which all indicated his rank, branch, and tenure. “Though, I’m not certain as to the significance of this addition to your ribbon rack.”
‘Choly withdrew into the closet to conceal a snivel in adjusting his broad collar and fastening the buckling utility belt of the coat about his waist. It wasn’t that he was wearing a uniform--this was his uniform. He’d only had one commanding function during his last active duty, directing the administration and observation of the enlisted troops upon which Deenwood’s military chemists had experimented. But he wasn’t about to admit in the moment that his rank had never put him on the battlefield, and risk planting doubt in his ability to lead where he would need to.
“Please, do forgive me, gentlemen,” the robot continued, feeling like ‘Choly had been stewing in silence. “I don’t mean anything by it, that I refer to you as I was introduced to you. My programming was scripted before it was commonplace for people to change their last names, or omit using them altogether. I know it’s not just you, Mister Hawthorne, who’s nettled by it. Mister Carey can’t stand it either. Maybe it would be for the best, to permit Miss Francis to reset my imprint matrix.”
“She’s not touching your goddamn grey matter,” ‘Choly snapped, rolling his coat cuff as he had his shirt, and buttoning the first three covered buttons of its front. He slipped on the reinforced black leather gloves from its side pockets, and let out an agonized snarl as he punched out the closet mirror. Glass scattered all over the balding carpet. Breathing ragged, he turned in full posture to glare at Sticks. “And who do you think you are, to suppose what comes naturally to me?”
The ghoul shrank on the bed, unable to form a coherent response to the chemist’s apparent derangement. A knock came at the front door, and Angel excused itself to check on it.
“Was it a bad idea to encourage you into this?”
‘Choly’s head fell askew as his arms crossed his chest, incredulous.
“Too late to hesitate, don’t you think?”
“Miss Olivia is ready for us,” Angel reported, returning to the room. Its tendrils curled against its spherical body, recognizing the tension. “Let’s finish gathering the last of things so we can head out, shall we?”
“A fantastic idea,” ‘Choly agreed a little too sharply, despising the likelihood that, despite the duress and consequence of his transformation, today very will might be the last he’d ever step foot on the Deenwood Compound premises.

Cam is my half brother. But I don’t consider him half in the least. Cam is my mom’s first child. He was there with my mom through the thick ‘n’ thin. And he helped my mom raise me and my sister. Cam is eleven years older than me. He is my literal hero. I love him to death. He is funny, extroverted, very outgoing, and witty and has tons of friends back home. He is not a perfect person by any means. (He was pretty hard to deal with as a teen according to my Mudder). He has anger issues, he’s sensitive, (although he has a hard exterior, so he’s pretty good at hiding his softness when he needs to). Cam loves sports, his favorite being 🏈. Love the Mountaineers and loves where he’s from. Cam is recently divorced, but still in love with his ex-wife. (She was the one to end it, due to his anger issues). He is dating, but isn’t wanting anything serious. He lives alone in Oregon and has his two kids part time. He has a son name Aedan age 10. And a daughter Aeribella, I think she is 7 now. Like me, he battles depression, but is getting help. Cam is 42.
Clay is my third oldest brother. He is also half. He is a sensitive sweet guy, but I think emotionally he has been through a lot. All I want for him is to be happy. I’m not sure if he is currently seeking help or not, but he is an addict who cannot take care of himself when he uses. He lives in his own house, his mother owns. (Although I think she is in the process of getting rid of it). Clay used to have a good relationship with my oldest brother Clint, but since he’s gotten involved in drugs and literally burned his mother’s house down (while high, by accident he claims, but he doesn’t really remember how the fire started). This was there childhood house. The house my dad lived in with their mom when they were married. I think the fire happened in 2020. The house is completely gone now. I know Clay also had a girlfriend who died a while back. Idk how or the circumstances of it, but I know he ended up in the hospital with depression over it. I think he’s attempted suicide twice. The death of his girlfriend happened before he started using, but whether it was drug related death I am not sure. I thought it was a car wreck actually. But anyways Clint absolutely hates him and won’t let him see his kids. Debbie (their mom) currently lives in her own apartment in Philly. I think Clint helps her out a lot, but he says that Debbie has never stopped worrying about Clay. Which I don’t blame her, he is her youngest son after all. Clay has a girlfriend who I think also uses. And just like me he has no kids. He is 39.
Moving onto to my only sister Miss Katie. Katherine Jane. Katie is only 11 months older than me. We are best friends. We are different in a lot of ways, but also fairly similar. Katie is 32. Katie loves horses. She went to WVU for a while but then got an internship at Monticule farms in Lexington, Kentucky. Where she met Miguel (an illegal Mexican) and they fell in love and the rest is history. She came up once to live in West Virginia with my mom and worked until she could save up enough money to move to Lexington and then she did! She married Miguel in 2017. They had a son in 2018, Thiago Gabriel Mondragon. He is 3. Katie works at Rood & Riddle an equestrian hospital. They want to buy a house, but they are currently working on making Miguel legal.
Cody is my youngest brother and the only fully blooded one. So true brother. No half’s. Same parents. Cody is 4 years younger than me which would make him 27. Cody has used since the age of 12. I think Cody has adhd that has never been properly treated. Cody is funny, but very manipulative. And the only thing he cares about besides his two daughters is money. Cody is a criminal and has a criminal mind set. He seems to be a pretty good thief. He has stolen thousands from my mother. I really have no idea how much. I would say half a million or possibly less, but a lot either way. When Cody was on the verge of 17. He got in a car wreck with my ex boyfriend and shattered his pelvis and had fractures in his leg. He was life flighted to the hospital, due to his body being in shock. Low temp, low vitals, ya know the worse. I flipped the fuck out over this and have carried a lot of guilt through the years over this. Cody sued my ex’s insurance and got 55,000 out of the deal at the age of 18. Cody bought all sorts of things with that money. He was dapper fine fellow with money, but then the drug use took over and the money went flat. He sold anything he bought with the money. I am extremely over protected of Cody. But he puts himself in dangerous situations all the time that I cannot have any control over. This past like February he ended up stranded in Myrtle beach. He finally made it back home in about 3 weeks. (Using money from both mom and me). Back in November he went missing and my mom filed a missing persons report only to find out a few days later, he ran out of gas in his car and was stranded at a drug dealers house. Anyways just to let you know what type of life my brother lives. He has a girlfriend who is half Hispanic and half white. Her name is Alejandra. And they have been together since 2015. Alejandra started using as well, but she got in trouble for embezzlement at her last job(of course for my brother, why else)? And was court ordered to rehab which she just got out of possibly 6 weeks ago. I think it’s been about 3 months of her being clean now. They have two daughters together. Niah born in 2018. She is 3. And my baby Penelope (I’m like in love with her sorry 😍) born in 2019. She is 2. I love those two soo much. Who knew my crime ridden brother would bring such two sweet little baby girls into this world. They have always been happy throughout the struggles of both of their parents. And they adapt to change well. Because change for them has constantly happened since they were born. Cody and Ale are extremely blessed to have such two sweet girls like them. How lucky could you get in that department? Cody works odd jobs to get by. Currently working in oil and gas in Grafton, WV.
6. Grew up on Hornor Run Road. Good road good times.
7. Already discussed housing. Next.
8, 9, & 10. I have already discussed.
11. No one I’m friends with now. Next
12. Didn’t travel too much. Been to Ohio, NYC, Virginia, North and South Carolina, and Florida. My favorite place was Sherwood Lake on the the border of West Virginia and Virginia.
13 & 14 are typical answers I don’t care to discuss.
15. I hated Highschool. For the most part.
16. Nothing really. I was a child. My world was my life.
17. Grandparents. I will start on my dads side.I knew my grandparents on that side as Grandma and Grandpa Corbin. Grandma Corbins name was Ramona. She was short, fat with short red permed old lady hair. Ya know typical grandma hair. She probably dyed it red I’m assuming. She wore big glasses that magnified her eyes. She had brown eyes that look a lot like my dads eyes. Their house was nice. It was I think either a three or four bedroom house. I think a half bath and one full one. It had a basement/garage. We’d play down there a lot. They had a huge coffin freezer in the basement. Actually they had multiple. We would look in them a lot. They also had a shower in the basement. They also had a nice backyard and outdoor sitting area. And an above ground pool, which eventually got a hole in it and was no longer usable, but I remember it being big. Although who knows if it actually was. I think they may had also had a tomato garden at some point. Anyways I loved the road they lived on nice neighborhood. My great aunt Betsy lived next door to my grandparents with my uncle Mitchell. You would see deer a lot across the road in the meadow. I never knew my real grandpa since he died when my father was a child. But I did know Bonnard aka Grandpa Corbin. Grandpa Corbin had a unique voice. White balding hair, blue eyes, average height, pretty average weight as well. He also wore glasses. My grandma Corbin had a collection of dinner bells from I think around the world. She had this collection on the windowsill of the living room. We played with those bells a lot. In the summer of 2000 my Grandma Corbin passed from kidney failure. I was only 9. I remember being fairly upset and I remember it was the first time I saw tears go down my dads face at her funeral. Probably the only time I’ve seen him cry. I also remember being seriously grossed out because when they were going up to say their goodbyes Bonnard kissed Grandma Corbin’s corpse right on the lips. He was crying at the same time. But it grossed me out. Still does. He must have really loved her though. I do not remember going over to their house a lot after Grandma Corbin had died. I do remember seeing Bonnard some in my teens. He would come over to my dads and I would see him at the 4-t 4th of July Rodeo held every summer. I wouldn’t say that I didn’t care for him. I did, but we were not close. I remember his health going downhill and dad saying he was complaining that he couldn’t control his bowels anymore which made it hard for him to go out into public. My uncle Mitchell was the one responsible on checking up on Bonnard as his health declined. One week, the newspapers were piling up on his stoop outside and Uncle Michell tried calling him and knocking on the door and windows. Finally my dad had to intervene and idk if they broke the door down or what, but they found him dead on the bathroom floor, naked, and definitely decaying. My dad told me he ran out of the house the smell was so bad. One of then even threw up over the sight and the smell. He said he was like green and there was green liquid seeping in the bathroom tiles. They think he was in the process of getting out of the shower when he collapsed and died.
Now my moms side. My regular grandparents who I just referred to as Grandma and Grandpa. My grandpa’s real name was Harold. He lied about his age when he was young and enlisted in the army and the navy. I do not think he ever finished Highschool. He was a mailman until he retired. My grandma and grandpa lived in multiple homes. So trying to describe the environments or all the homes they had seems like alot to type. Maybe I will get into that another day. My grandpa was average height, a little chubby, he had a grey mustache and bushy eyebrows which he liked having because he wanted to look intimidating. He also had swollen legs and feet. I don’t remember his legs or feet ever looking normal. His one foot had big old scar dent in it, from him playing with an ax when he was a kid and he split opened his foot. He had blue eyes. A sweet smile and salt and pepper hair. He also had false teeth. Which he use to run around chasing us with his false teeth out in his hand acting like they were going to bite us. My grandpa was always excellent with kids. He would get grumpy and tired though. Usually when we first got there, he would go hide somewhere and try to scare us. Grandpa was fun. We’d fish in his pond or sit on his lap while he watched old war movies. He always had a big old jug of sweet iced tea. And he would nap in his recliner with a mini pillow covering his face. I remember mom said to never try to wake him up or he might punch you, because he used to get pranked a lot in the army when he would try to nap. So it was just like a natural reaction for him. I think my grandpa died in the spring of 2002. I was 11. Grandpa used to move to multiple areas to sleep at night. Well one night when he was walking back upstairs. He collapse and fell down the stairs. My grandma woke up and found a pool of blood by his head and blood coming out of his ears. They put him on life support at the hospital so we could say our goodbyes. Whenever they took him off life support his heart was still beating after 10 minutes. They said he had a strong heart for his age. My mom thinks it’s from all his years of walking his routes as a mailman. He died from a brain aneurysm. Grandma. Grandma had grey hair and blue eyes. She was a worry wart and a sweet woman. She was caring towards me and I loved her. She was a Methodist. Went to church every Sunday. She wasn’t afraid to let ya know when she wasn’t happy about something though. She had her moods, but who doesn’t? She would horse play around with my brother Cam a lot. She like to plant her flowers. She liked things neat. And she liked to sew. Mainly quilts, but she did make outfits for us as well and even baby blankets! She would always either have cookies for us when we came over or we could have ice cream! She also had chewing gum. I spent the night with her a lot. My mom tells me all the time that I share the same mannerisms as Grandma. Grandma use to always carry tissues, even used ones and so do I. My hands shake and so did hers. I know there is more, but I can’t remember it all. Anyways, sometime, before my grandpas death grandma started kinda acting/behaving funny and it progressed after Grandpa had died. Although I think it would have anyway. Grandma was diagnosed with dementia. She would do a lot of crazy things and really couldn’t take care of herself anymore. My aunt Cindy would come over to her house everyday to take care of her after she got off work, but eventually she had to go to the hospital. Grandma would sometimes wake up confused at the hospital and would barricade her room door and wouldn’t let anyone in. She lost a lot of weight. On July 7, 2007 my grandma passed away at the hospital. They are not sure how she passed. The patient who shared a room with her thought she choked to death, but the nurse thought it was a seizure. We don’t really know what happened but we know the cause was from Alzheimer’s. I was 16 at the time and was incredibly angry over the circumstances of her death.
18. Aunts. I will stick with just Aunts no great Aunts. To be perfectly honest I’m not really close to any of my aunts really. I’ll start with Peg. She’s a toothless old coot with long brown hair she wear loosely like mine, but she has more greys, obviously. She is a wanna be hippie. Use to be a Scientologist but was kicked out for refusing to do something. All of her kids except one is involved in Scientology. She is my Mudder’s younger sister. Same age as Michael Jackson. She has been married 3 times and had a kid with each except the third whom she is still married to with two kids. All grown up now obviously. Now I’ll do mom’s older sister Cindy. She was the head pharmacist at WVU hospital. But she is now retired. She had a kid with a man she never married a daughter. Who is grown up herself. She has a nice house with very interesting things in it. She is conservative, & reserved. No social media. Now my dads side. My dad had one sister who died of childhood cancer. I honestly don’t even know her name. And his oldest sister Darlene. Darlene was a 2nd grade elementary school teacher in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She has two sons. All grown up/married with kids. She is currently in a rest home for dementia. She is a sweet lady. I also like her house or I did…..That’s it. Oh she’s married to.
19. Ok uncles. The only uncle I have on my mothers side is by marriage, it’s Peggy’s husband Tom. I use to bug him to death as a little kid. (Like when I was 4 to 5 years of age). He would be sitting there at a family gathering trying to watch football with the other men and I would try to hurt him and then he would fake sound effects or whatever and I apparently thought it was hilarious because i remember doing that a lot. I’m not really close to him today at all. I have one uncle on my dads side and he is sadly only half, but he is my favorite Uncle. Uncle Mitchell. Uncle Mitchell has schizophrenia and was/ may still be on disability for it. He has done questionable things, but he has always been great to me and my sister when we were kids. We use to sneak over to his house across the field, but my parents didn’t like that because the field was full of livestock and they were afraid we would get trampled. I also just think due to Michell’s illness, they just didn’t want us hanging out with him. Uncle Mitchell loved Native Americans and nature. He would always have something interesting to show or teach us. (I would also like to add that my great Aunt Betsy was mostly always there when we came over. She looked out for him and he ended up living at her house most of the time. I think they had a close relationship). So we weren’t technically alone with him. He had fake dog poop we loved to play with. And just interesting trickets and things. He had a coon hound named Moonshine. Moonshine liked pepperoni so I remember feeding him some of it. As we got older and after my great Aunt Betsy passed away and Grandma Corbin. Mitchell started being recluse. He lived in Aunt Betsy’s house until Bonnard passed away then he moved into my grandparents/ his parents house. I guess that’s where he still is now. I’m not sure. My dad relationship with Uncle Mitchell hasn’t been good. I think he is jealous 1 because Mitchell is the baby of their family and 2 Since Mitchell is Bonnards biological son he obviously treated him better than he treated my dad. And 3 Uncle Michell literally inherited everything after my grandparents died. Besides the other two reasons I think another reason as to why he inherited everything is because he was not well off to begin with. Idk if anyone has put that into perspective but Mitchell would probably be homeless otherwise. Uncle Michell doesn’t have social media and I am trying my best to remember when I saw him last I’d say 2015 or earlier. I went with dad to help them move some furniture out of Aunt Betsy’s house. I remember uncle Mitchell being shirtless, it was during the summer and he he was wearing something with the American Flag on it. Either his pants or his bandanna. But his hair was completely white and long and I hadn’t seen him since his hair was just black with a little gray in it and he looked like a total hippie. I don’t remember a lot from that day. I know he must have talked to me some, but I think he mainly talked to dad. I’ll add more to this, but it’s been a long day so I’m out. I also saw him a handful of times as a teen and witnessed his schizophrenia. Before my dad started renting his valley above his house and barn he had with Sandy, my Uncle Mitchell had his trailer there (not the one from childhood it was another one). My one brother Clay and his friends decided to have a bonfire party or something without his permission obviously on his property. I was down the road outside with Cody in a lawn chair in the front yard looking at the stars. We suddenly heard Mitchell flip the fuck out. You could fucking hear him all down the road. He just went on and on and just kept cussing and cussing. I attempted to yell at him to shut up myself but to no avail. He just sounded absolutely nuts. He finally stopped. I guess they left. Another time I walked down to my dads house down his long driveway that went into the valley. Michell was in his trailer/yard with his dog on the leash walking him around to use the bathroom I guess. I think I tried to say hi to him and I think he ignored me.
I don’t remember this all clearly but I looked back at him once and he looks at me and let’s out this maniacal laugh with a crazy face. Almost like a villain in a cartoon or something. I think when I walked back up there he may have said other things and I felt scared but just tried to ignore him and kept walking back home. Another time he randomly came to our house to dig up ramps in the woods behind us. Cody and me were the only two home. So we went with him and ya know he showed us and taught us things like he did when I was a child about the ramps and we came back home with dugged out ramps. I think he cleaned them in the kitchen sink and we had a skillet that had bacon or hamburger grease in it and he cooked them in it and we ate them up. It was a rare and pleasant time with him. Like the old days. The only other time I remember seeing him was at Katie’s High school graduation. I was thrilled to see him. He was pleasant, sweet, and even let me hugged him. I told him I missed him and he said he missed me too. Only other time I can recall seeing him was when he was looking for dad to talk to him and dad wasn’t there. So I would tell my dad later and he would just brush it off because he didn’t want to talk to him. I decided back in my early 20’s that I loved him so much that if he was unable to care for himself I would do it. I miss him and I hope I see him again.
Tumblr media
And since I’m such a sucker for blogging. I may start on this as well. I love doing things like this. Try to do one daily or when I’m able.
1. I will start on my name. My name is Bonnie Blue Springer. If you don’t already know Bonnie is a Scottish word meaning pretty. Blue is a color (like duh). So why was I named Bonnie Blue? My moms favorite movie is Gone with the Wind. I am named after Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara’s daughter whos name is Bonnie Blue because her eyes were as blue as the Bonnie Blue flag. So named after a fictional character. Pretty common for most. Springer is my dads last name. I don’t have much background history on it. And don’t really care to discuss it. That’s it!
2. Birthday. I was born in the peak of summer (the end of July) in 1990 in Fairmont, West Virginia at a hospital that no longer exists. I was actually due on my mother’s birthday. I came a day later.
3. My moms name is Beverly Jane Myles. She is the middle child out of her two sisters. She has no brothers. She likes to go by Janie. Her dad was an alcoholic although he didn’t do any heavy drinking until she was in her teens. She was outshined by her older sister who was extremely popular in High-school and either won Homecoming Queen or Prom Queen. (One of those two). My mom was shy and backwards like me. She played around with the neighborhood kids and was considered a Tom-boy. Her childhood friend was Judy Bright. She was raised in Pleasant Valley, West Virginia. When she was in her early 20’s she worked in the electronics department at a store called I think Murphy’s Mart. She got a lot of attention from men there. She eventually met a guy who she went out with who would make her laugh herself to the point of crying. She said she wasn’t necessarily in love with him, but she was 25 and marriage was the normal thing you did back then so she married him. And their marriage lasted 7 years I think? (Don’t quote me on that). She had her first child a boy in August of 79 with her husband at the time. She loved that child more than anything. Cam (her husband) was only 19 at the time that they were married. He would go out and party a lot. Ya know do things young boys would do. While my mom stayed at home. By the time my older brother was in school my mom had divorced Cam. My mom went to see a house for rent and the land lord was my dad. Who I may add was not the least bit interested in giving her a tour of the rented property because he wanted to go hunting. (I think it was bird hunting or something like that). My dad lived with his wife and their two sons next door in a three bedroom house with a nice deck and a basement. My mom’s rental house was below his house. I guess they got to talking and my dad invited my mom over to his house one night when his wife Debbie was on a business trip. They apparently talked all night and made out. My mom of course fell in love with him and ended up pregnant with my sister. My dad then bought a trailer on a property he owned down the road for my mom to live in with my baby sister and my older brother(who would go visit his own dad on the weekends). My mom had several fights with my dad and his wife at that time. My dad would move in with my mom and then leave her repeatedly to go back to his wife Debbie. My mom had my sister in August of 89. My mom became pregnant with me that fall/winter of 89 and I was born the following year in July. My mom raised me and my sister on her own with the help of my older brother. My dad would stop in from time to time and we would sometimes even go to his house on the weekends. My dad lacked being there sometimes, but not for a time that really sticks out in my mind or anything. Four years later my little brother was born. My dad then bought a double wide trailer and moved us into another spot of land he owned next door to where we were previously living in the little trailer. My mom had odd jobs from welfare and she relied on welfare to feed us. My mom at one point (when we were all older) went back to school to be a surgery tech. I think she finished the schooling but did not get a job. She worked a job as a receptionist of a motel while she was going to school. My mom then ended up working at a hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia as a cardiac monitor tech. She then fell down the stairs at work one night and ended up going on social security and disability. She moved out of my dads double wide trailer he provided for for child support back in 2013 and moved into a low income apartment. After me and my sister moved to Lexington, Kentucky and my sister had my nephew. My mom got another job as a cardiac monitor tech in another hospital to save money so she could move to Lexington and be with us. My mom currently lives in Lexington and is on disability. She participates in clinical trail studies to have enough/ extra money to live on. My mom is 67 years old. She has 4 children and 5 grandchildren. I am literally her only kid who doesn’t have a kid 😆
4. Charles Jarrett Springer born August 2nd 1951. He turned 70 last year 😢. Named after his own dad. My dad’s dad ie. my grandpa died when my dad was only 6 years old. It was an alcohol related death. I thought it was a car wreck, but I’m not sure on that. Either way, my dad was young when he lost his father. His mother, ie. my grandmother was named Ramona. Ramona eventually remarried a guy by the name of Bonnard Corbin. He was really hard on my dad. My dad also had an older sister named Darlene and he had another sister, but she died as a child from cancer. Bonnard and Ramona then had my dads younger brother Mitchell. My dad grew up in Kingmont and went to West Fairmont High-school. Idk much about his younger years except his love for horses and horse racing. Idk how he got with Debbie. (His ex wife) But they had two sons, Clint & Clay. I am not exactly sure when exactly my mom met my dad and started living in his little rental house, but my guess on the year is 1986. My dad liked to bird hunt. Or just hunt in general and fish. My dad has always been an unfaithful man. He even claimed he cheated on Debbie on their wedding night. My dad gets bored with one woman in his life. My dad had one girlfriend after all three of us were born while he was still married to Debbie. Her name was Deanne. She was trash. My dad is white trash through and through. He was racist when I was a child. He’s changed since then, thankfully. My dad smokes. A couple of times when I was a teen, he would try to offer me a fucking cigarette. I always declined. Probably honestly how my little brother started smoking. (Wouldn’t surprise me.) My dad has a learning disability in reading and spelling. He can do both but he isn’t good at it. Anyways back to when I was a kid. He would stop by the trailer we lived in at the time after work and ya know checked in on us. He hung out with us some. On weekends we would go to his house. Mainly played, snooped around, and watched tv. He had a fishing boat we use to play in and a little barn with I think maybe two horses? He would take us to the little store and hang out and talk with friends and buy us candy or hotdogs and we would rent movies to watch for the weekend. My dad loves to talk. He will literally talk to you even when you try to run away from him. When I say he drones on he does! I don’t think he’s as bad as he used to be now that’s he’s old, but my dad has always had tons of friends. My dad owned a lot a land when I was a kid that he eventually sold. He owned a humongous amount of land we would call the field. We lived across the road from this field. My dad would keep some horses on this field. There was several different sections of this field. The downhill part and the best part uphill. I loved that uphill field. I miss it soo much. He sold it. And I can’t trespass. I tried once as a teen, the field was filled with some cows. Dad would take us off roading in his pickup or Bronco. So fun. There was alot more to that place than I can even described. I loved that place. Anyways continuing on, when I was a preteen my dad had finally had divorce proceedings with Debbie. He moved in with us in the double wide after my older brother Cam had moved out. My mom couldn’t stand him. My mom actually had enough of my dad after she had Cody. (My youngest brother) they fought alot. I know one time my mom hit him with a broom on his head. My dad was seeing another woman named Sandy who he ended up marrying. I was extremely upset with this and did not attend the wedding. I hated Sandy. I hated her as a teen. My dad moved down the road with her and they built their own horse barn and even started a business with a tack shop on the side. Sandy prevented me from seeing my dad. I just point blank hated going over there and I did not want to be around her. For some reason as a teen I craved my fathers physical affection up to the point that it would make me emotional. So when I did go over there ya know it was affection overload, plus I guess I missed him. Idk. A weird teenage phase is what I’ve always thought of it.
Continuing the dad thing: To he perfectly honest I was always use to my dad and mom not being together. That was my normal. When they were together I hated it. My dad started going to church and ended up leaving Sandy for Marge whom he is married to now. My dad and Marge both live in our old double wide now and rent out the horse barn and property to the Castillo’s. My dad was a trump supporter. My dad is still dumb in many ways, but he is old now. He has health problems and I’ve always fucking loved him. So that’s how I feel. He’s not the greatest person, but I still love him. My dad is really supportive of me.
5. Let’s talk sibs. I have 4 brothers and one sister. I’ll start with the oldest. My half brother Clint.
This is what Clint does.
Tumblr media
Clint is in his 40’s. Lives in Philly. He has fraternal twin sons, his wife, and his daughter Lily. His relationship with my father has not always been good. They have very different point of views and like to voice their political views a lot which have clashed against them and caused a rift. Clint for some reason was also really upset when my dad left Sandy and married Marge, BUT they are on good terms now and Clint sees my dad a lot with the kids now. The twins are in their mid teens. I think Lily is a preteen. I have never really been close to Clint, but he did give me some good advice when I had last seen him in December. I think he is proud of me. Which is good. Clint is all about global warming and studying plants.

The neo-machos are dangerous to men
Tumblr media
When I talk about neo-machos, I refer to a wide variety of propagandists like Gavin McInnes, Roosh V, Jack Donovan (featured picture) online Pickup artists. I would like to show how dangerous it is to be a neo-macho. Fighting for women: They encourage fighting for your wife, your daughter, your girlfriend. On earth, women are already overprotected. That's men who are likely to be killed in a brawl, during a battle or in a war; not women.  For instance, if you read the news of any big cities, you will see that most of the time men are killed; not women. Meanwhile, neo-machos pretend that women still need to get protected by men. In the first place, women should be protected by the police; not a man. It would mean that men should take additional risks for women all the time and expose themselves. I read numerous stories of men who have been killed by trying to defend a woman. Here is an example Courtney Jernigan was shocked to hear about the death of her big brother, Jonathon Prins. But she wasn’t a bit surprised about how he died. “He was going to jump in and come to somebody’s aid because he always had,” Jernigan tells PEOPLE. “It didn’t matter who it was, he did not care. He would jump in front of anything, there was never any back down from Jonathon.” Prins – a 29-year-old sergeant first class in the Army, with three overseas tours behind him and three kids at home – was allegedly fatally shot by a man just after midnight Sunday outside a South Carolina bar, Lexington County sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Adam Myrick tells PEOPLE. Prins and Staff Sgt. Charles Judge Jr., 40, of the South Carolina National Guard, tried to stop the man from allegedly attacking a woman, Myrick says. Both were killed, he says. Being pushy:  After being pushy a woman can sue you for false rape allegations or false sexual harassment. Neo-machos manipulate you. They want you to act while they stay in the back. You take the risks and they take not risk. They encourage you to cross the lines of your local legal framework. Then, if you are sued for sexual harassment, you will not see you neo-macho friends anymore. No-one will support you. Worse than that, they may criticize your behavior even if they were responsible for it. Honor: Doing something for honor means doing something for a reason that is not rational. Honor means that you don't act for your interest. Honor is useless in a man's life. For instance, let's imagine that a woman cheated on a man and the said man gets aware of it. If he kills the woman or the lover in the name of honor, this will have no benefits for the cheated man. On the other hand, if the cheated man decides to divorce right away, it is rational. Low Self-Esteem? It doesn’t have to be a roadblock on the way to love.
I read loads of dating advice for women. So much of it seems to be geared toward the woman who has it all, except for her lover. I see email headlines that read,  “If you are a Powerful and Confident Women who is Ready to Find the Love of your Life, Click the Link Below”. One of my personal favorites is, “You know you are a great catch, confident, funny, smart, you have awesome friends, and you know you have so much to offer the right man”.
I didn’t know any of this. What I knew is that my husband had left me with a five-year-old and a baby on the way. I had an intimate knowledge of my pitiful bank account. The feelings of despair and loneliness came in waves and I just wanted a hug.
When I began to look up dating advice in 2005, it seemed as if the cliche, you must love yourself before you can love another, was the general thought process. I bought into it. Setting out to be someone that was lovable, was my plan.
When I began to date, being authentic wasn’t even a consideration.
I could never tell anyone my financial history or that my husband had left me and everyone knew about the affair except me.  My strategy was to figure out how to meet someone I was attracted to, and figure out how to please them.
This was solely based on the need for them not to leave. It was years later that I realized I wasn’t looking for love, I was looking for security. I wasn’t aware that the divorce was way more than just a heartbreak. It was traumatic experience that caused lasting effects for years to come. This does not have to be your story. Once I started doing the practices that I teach in Lets Practice Love, everything changed.
When I would have a date and begin to tell someone that asked a bit about me, I would give a watered-down overview. I made it seem as if I had healed completely and was ready to take on the world. One of my go to phrases was, “I’m in a really good place right now”.
If you have read this far and you feel as if I am telling your story, take a really deep breath. In through the nose, hold at the top, let it out through the mouth. Do this one more time. Breath in through the nose for four counts, then let it out through the mouth for four counts. Your story does have a happy ending. You do not have to have it all together, not now and not ever.
In my experience, having low self-esteem is nothing more than a thought process. I am going to go extremely slow and step-by-step in the rest of this post. While I do love a great quote, no amount of affirmations ever relieved me of my self-loathing. It took daily inspired action to change my thoughts. That being said, below is one of my favorite quotes.
A belief is just a thought you keep thinking. Abraham Hicks
I dated for a decade while trying to hide who I really was. This gave me even lower self-esteem, with the added benefit of anxiety. If you are seriously picking up what I am laying down, go ahead and join my email list. I am going to teach you how to find your love in what you “THINK” may be the worst circumstances.
When I looked around, I found all different types of people were attracting and thriving in long-term relationships. In the crazy town that is my mind, I assumed they all had good credit, high self-esteem, had never experienced trauma, and were probably just plain lucky.
Once I began to do the practices that I teach, I realized that this type of thinking, was nothing more than a coping mechanism. It was a way for me to justify others finding love and poor, pitiful me being alone. It became a way for me to continue to hide my true self from any potential suitors.
What I hoped would work, was that I would share only my desirable qualities, and by the time any of my areas of concern showed up, we would be so in love that they would pale in comparison to my fabulousness.
These are the characteristics I would lead with.
A mix of down to earth southern girl, yet super sophisticated world traveler, foodie, and fashionista.
The motivational speaker uplifter. If you are having a bad day, I know exactly how to validate your feelings. After a conversation with me you will feel heard and understood.
I am sexy and sensual. I am extremely flirty and feminine. It’s just my way. I consider this a plus.
I am a social butterfly. If you are out with me you will feel like you are with the most popular girl in town.
I workout and do yoga, so by society’s standards, I have what you would call a hot body.
These are the things that I felt were good selling points. I invite you to write yours along with me. Just do the top five. What do you go in with?
Now for the things that I had a harder time admitting.
I don’t trust people. I rarely take them at face value. If I like what they say I do, but if I don’t like it, I read whatever meaning I want to into it.
It takes quite some time for me to feel secure spending time away from a lover. I am clingy. I am needy.
I can be manipulative. I am an only child and getting my way is pretty much a thing.
If you turn me down for sex, I am probably not going to be understanding. I am going to assume you are no longer attracted to me and begin to feel resentful.
I am complicated, not easy going, and pretty much an all around pain in the ass. If I veer from the practices that I teach at all, I can have a man jumping through so many hoops that I become way more trouble than I am worth.
High self-esteem wasn’t a skill that I learned. I thought that if someone liked me, I was likable. If my parents were proud of me, I had done a good job. If men thought I was pretty, it meant that I was. If someone rejected me, it meant I was unlovable.
I took all my self-worth from my environment. I had no idea it was an inside job. Once I learned this exciting little fact, to be quite honest, I was a little salty. Then why do we partner up? What is the purpose of romantic love anyway? I felt hurt and ultimately confused.
This knowledge felt like a rock bottom for me. I was willing to do anything to find love. The one thing I was absolutely not willing to do, was to stop dating. Even though I failed time and time again, if I could just get even two weeks with someone, before they ran away or I freaked out, it was better than nothing. I was unable to sit with my feelings of fear and loneliness.
I began to read everything I could on raising my self-esteem. There were three practices that began to make a difference.
If you want higher self-esteem, do esteemable acts. – Having been through a nasty and humiliating divorce, I had become pretty much obsessed with my pain and my quest for love. My low self-esteem and my trauma was also riddled with self-centeredness. I knew I wasn’t much, but I sure was all I thought about. I began to be of service to friends, family, and anyone I could find. Everyday in my prayer and meditation, I would say send me someone to be a blessing to today. It was so amazing. I literally had people coming out of nowhere asking me to help with everything from moving, to picking up shifts at a local restaurant. I still do it today. Picking up the phone to connect with a friend, just to see if I can help.
The Hare Krishna monks that I spent time with in India kept telling me to stop thinking and to start feeling. I had no idea what they meant. The primary yoga text is called “The Yoga Sutras”. This book is lovely and arranged in verses, much like the bible. The second verse is Chitta Vritti Nirodha. This translates to, when you stop identifying with the fluctuations of the mind, then there is yoga (union – a state of oneness). Remember I said that low self-esteem is simply a thought process about oneself. I realized I didn’t have to believe my thoughts. This felt like being let out of jail. This was a very new concept to me. It felt like starting with a clean slate. The monks taught me to trust how I felt in certain situations. When I told them I didn’t like feeling vulnerable, they would just say, okay. I asked them what to do about feeling vulnerable, fearful, unworthy, or not good enough. They would just say feel it and that it would eventually pass. They were right. I began to study several spiritual paths that helped me to articulate my feelings. This was the beginning of a deeper self-awareness. This type of spiritual study made no room for low self-esteem, only spiritual growth.
I also learned what I call The Pause. Since I had began practicing not believing my thoughts just because I was thinking them, I also didn’t have to react to them either.  This was difficult at first. But once I saw how effective it was, I began doing it in every part of my life. With every decision, every conversation, in my work, and especially in communication with the man in my life.
One of my teachers, Marianne Williamson, said it best. She said:
I am not so enlightened that I don’t have crazy thoughts, but I am enlightened enough not to believe that they are true.
Low self-esteem, with the right practices, doesn’t have to be a roadblock to finding love. But hiding who you really are, will stop it every time.
I am still plagued with insecurities. I do daily practices that help me to feel my way to a better way of thinking.

Know What You Can Hire The Lexington KY Private Investigator For
By Sharon Turner
Life can turn out to be a misery if things are turning out the wrong way. You might have some things going on. When you are there suspecting, not knowing what to do, seek expert help. Some people use your details to commit credit fraud. Some marriages are miserable because of cheating partners. When things start turning awry, bring the Lexington KY private investigator to help. No one reason makes people hire private detectives. Every person has a different reason. You might want to know if your partner is cheating while another client hires them to do some background checks and determine if the employee they are about to hire is the right person. If you bring these detectives, several benefits come. When it comes to private investigations, things might appear easy on paper, but when one decides to go alone, they face challenges. It is not easy to follow up an accused drug dealer alone as they might cause some harm. That is why you need an experienced person who will professionally do their work and ensure you remain safe. There is a reason you should bring these detectives to investigate when in need. For anyone who brings these experts, they are assured of the right evidence. If one suspects identity theft or if the partner you live with starts moving out with another person, act fast. You also need these experts to do background checks on companies or people. When you bring the experts, they give the evidence. Divorce is on the rise today, with people going for the best results. When you move to court, you win that case by providing the evidence that implicates the other person. In the cases of child custody, you can have the investigator stand in court as a witness to what was found. Since they saw and even captured the details, they become witnesses as their testimony will be used by the judges. Sometimes, you want to investigate your partner, but it is not easy. If the person knows they are followed, they will behave. However, if you want things to remain anonymous, you need a stranger not known by the person. You might e busy doing your daily hassles and you need to delegate the same to an expert who will remain anonymous. It is easy to get the facts right within a short time by using the right company. The experts know how to get the facts right within a shorter time as they have the tools and experience needed. If someone suspects theft in your company, you must stop it fast. You need the investigators to do the work, give the evidence within a short time and allow you to act within a shorter time. Today, every person who has some suspicions about anything has the option of getting these detectives to help in getting the facts right. It could be insurance claims, trace inquirers, cheating partners, identity theft and background checks on companies and individuals. When having any problem that demands you get the facts, you must bring the detectives who will do the work and present the report showing what you have been suspecting.

Kopf: E.A. Cook III
Edward Addison Cook III (Ed), 88, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2018. Ed was the best lawyer and the best person I have ever known. I loved Ed.
In 1884, Ed’s grandfather came out to Lexington, Nebraska,[i] from Illinois after reading law. He submitted to an examining panel before the District Court of Dawson County and was, that same day, admitted to practice. Later, Ed’s father took over. The Cook law firm celebrated 100 years of continuous practice in 1984, and I was privileged to attend the celebration as Ed’s law partner. Ed practiced law for five decades, and I was honored to have spent 13 of those years with him. Judge Jim Doyle later became our partner as well.[ii]
Jim and I will soon fly out to attend a barbecue in Texas where Ed retired near the end of his life to be close to his children. At that gathering, Jim and I and a host of others will eat barbecue, drink cold drinks, and remember our dear friend. We will marvel that Ed never once complained, nor told us about, his decades-long struggle with the leukemia that would ultimately take him. The barbecue will perfectly mirror Ed’s humility (and sense of humor). Ed would never have allowed anything so pretentious as a “celebration of life.”
In a general practice, like the one we had, a lawyer takes most everyone who walks through the front door.[iii] Ed’s knowledge of the law was stunning. Ed knew how to structure a one-bank holding company. He could do an IRC section 1031 “like-kind” exchange in his sleep. He could get you a liquor license too, although Ed’s grandfather, the first Edward Addison Cook, was a strict Methodist who fought against demon rum.[iv] And if you were involved in a divorce, Ed would calmly walk you through it with a minimum of pain. And if your husband was made a vegetable by the negligence of a semi-truck driver, Ed would see to it that you received the largest insurance settlement in Nebraska’s history (at that time). And when it came to criminal law, Ed had cut his teeth as a young prosecuting attorney for the county, so he knew what was up and what was down.
I don’t know how to adequately describe Ed to you. But I need to try.
Ed was a wry man. He served in the U.S. Army Counter-Intelligence Corps during the Korean War. For reasons he never fully understood, Ed was stationed in Kansas City. Ed assured those who asked about his service that he “fought in the battle of Kansas City” and, so far as he knew, no North Koreans lived to tell the tale. He also completed his law degree while saving Kansas City from the Chicoms and their pickled-cabbage-eating comrades.
Ed was a deeply cultured man. He and his dear wife Betty[v] travelled the world. Ed was the treasurer of the Museum of Nebraska Art and president of the Nebraska Cultural Endowment. Ed and Betty were active supporters of the University of Nebraska at Kearney Honors Program and opened their home to loads of foreign students. They received the UNK Distinguished Service Award in 2007.
Ed was a banker, but an unusual one. In later years, and while still practicing law, he bought a bank that was about to fail and quickly turned it into a thriving institution. About to become president of the state bankers’ association, Ed, using his skills as a lawyer, stopped a fellow banker from grievously mistreating minority shareholders when the banker and majority shareholder did a deal to sell the bank. That did not sit well with the clannish members of the bankers’ association, and Ed’s selection as president-in-waiting was rescinded. Ed didn’t care a wit.
Ed was a farmer. After living many years in town, Ed bought a dead-level section (640 acres) of the most fertile ground imaginable along the south bank of the Platte River.[vi] Ed designed and built a modern home facing the hills, overlooking the immense corn field, with floor-to-ceiling book shelves and a library ladder on wheels to access a vast collection of books. My kids used to love to go out there to see the bald eagles soaring above the river and then landing in the cottonwood trees. I remember the story my late wife told of going out to see Ed and Betty one freezing March day and walking into their elegant home, only to see a baby calf being fed by Betty with a bottle. Ed took our dog to the farm after one of my children became very allergic to the dog’s dander. Buffer, our dog, had a happy life at the farm until a coyote got him.
Ed was an utterly kind and completely honest man. I never once heard him raise his voice, whether in or out of court. If he had to do a cross-examination of an adverse witness, it was done in an effective, yet respectful and utterly decent, way. If he told you he would do something, you didn’t need to write his promise down. His word was all you needed. Ed was the man that Diogenes went searching for.
And then there was the time that Ed, as appointed defense counsel, saved a killer from the death penalty, angering many of the 5,500 souls who lived in Lexington. Words fail me.
Richard G. Kopf Senior United States District Judge
[i] Lexington began as a frontier trading post in 1860. It was known as Plum Creek.
[ii] The tiny firm produced the youngest U.S Attorney for the District of Nebraska and a judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. That was Don Ross, Ed’s brother-in-law. I clerked for Judge Ross and that connection brought me to Ed.
[iii] Well, there were exceptions, but not many. My favorite exception was this: When a client said he or she thought suit was warranted “as a matter of principle,” Ed would quietly tell the client that he would happily fight for principle so long as the client was willing to pay for it. Funny how that focused the client’s mind.
[iv] Ed not so much.
[v] I am happy to say that Betty survives Ed.
[vi] Close to that beautiful farm is the site of the Plum Creek Massacre. A war party of about 100 Cheyenne and Arapaho Indians attacked a wagon train on the Oregon Trail in 1864, killing 13 men and capturing a woman and a boy. That event was the first significant flashpoint in the Indian War of 1864.

What is private health insurance?
My employer sponsored health plans were always referred to as PRIVATE. Is that just a New Jersey thing? When I look it up. The definition is an individual--not employer sponsored plan. There is even a commercial where thy refer to private or medicare insurance....which implies private is any other plan like blue cross or cigna. so can a group plan from an employer be correctly referred to as private.

My car was totaled off. It was a 96 Suzuki Esteem. It was rebuilt after a previous total loss. Its in decent condition externally and it ran fine until the most recent accident. I am pretty sure as long as I have my license beside me I can call insurance companies for quotes right? Also what do they ask? Just car Make, model, year, color, sedan or coupe, etc? What else? Sorry for sounding like a complete idiot, I am only 16 I do not know these things. Thank you very much""

But the earthquake policy typically covers only 85% of the house rebuild cost, homeowners first have to pay the 15% of that (the deductible). Can a 16 year old male afford a Mustang with a V8( GT or LX)?
I've discussed getting a mustang to my family and friends for quite a while now. I know the downsides, high insurance, bad gas mileage, and too much power(according to my parents). I'm a big fan of the foxbody('79-'93) mustangs and I also really want a V8 and I also want stick if that matters. The way I see it, I'm going to pay a lot for insurance no matter what, so why not pay a little bit more and pay for the car I really want. It doesn't matter if its an LX or GT even though I've heard that LX's are cheaper, but how much cheaper. I've looked around for answers to this question and all I've seen are responses that tell me either that its stupid to get a Mustang or I find answers that have links for sites that will tell me. I just want a good answer and possibly how much insurance will cost me. I only want minimum coverage and it will be on my mom's policy. Also, one more question, how much cheaper do you believe a '90's Honda Civic(2 door sedan) would cost me in comparision to a V8 Mustang? Thanks for any responses, Aaron.""

Do you have to pay for a full year of car insurance if your car is written off part way through that year?
I pay my car insurance every month as a direct debit out of my bank account. My policy actually expires in March each year and I'm sent a renewal letter saying that if I wish to continue with my policy I just need to keep paying it monthly as I always have. Then come July my car was total written off. According to the insurance compay I still need to pay for a full years insurance, that is I need to pay all the insurance premiums up until March next year as this is when the policy expires. I figure if I don't have the car any more as it's a write off, and I'm able to cancelled the rego on it, why should I have to pay. I would have thought that if I'd paid a full years insurance in March that I would be entitled to a refund if my car was written off part way through the year. Any help would be appreciated.""

The problem is she had recently exchanged jobs (just prior to the tumor news), and apparently cannot be covered with her present Insurance company as her condition is pre-existent. Now, the tumor is located in the fourth entricle of the brain (where the spinal/cerebral fluid is housed). She will probably need Chemotherapy. Can she be re-insured or covered by a different plan.? Can a single mother qualify for medi-care instead? She is in TX""
How do you find out if a driver has insurance or not?
My car got hit and the driver took off. I have their name, address, and vin number but they did not provide an insurance company name either because they don't have it or there's a possibility that it was not provided at the time. Who can find this out for me, the police said they can't and my insurance company said they don't think they can either....""
Why does car insurance go down after you've had a license for over a year ?
OK it seems really strange to me that after having a license for over a year and not driving at all that insurance prices drop down ? It would make more sense for insurance to be cheaper the day you pass your test as you are well practised at driving after not driving for a year or 2 years or more your driving skill will have dropped significantly and yet insurance companies think you will be a safer driver ???
My car insurance company raised my bill because my zip code changed.?
But I thought that in California they passed a bill called prop 103 that says that changing zip code should not be a base to raise the bill... I talked to the insurance guy on the phone who said that prop 103 never passed, yet when I'm reading about it in the internet,it says it passed..Am I missing something? Can I file a complaint to the consumers'affairs and the BBB in order for them to drop back my rate to my previous zip code? It's only a few dollars but it ads up at the end of the year..""
""What is the absolute best, maximum protection motorcycle insurance for me? 20/F 1st time rider.?""
I am willing to pay more, I just dont want to get cheap insurance that doesn't cover me. No subrogation clauses, I want to be covered as much as I possibly can. I am in TX. Is Allstate good? My car is under Allstate. I have heard Dairyland Insurance is good...anyone have experience with it? I dont have any tickets or violations on my record.""

Lexington Law Firm
Lexington Law, the trusted leaders in credit repair, is the nation’s largest law firm that focuses on helping consumers challenge inaccurate negative items on their credit reports.
Past clients have seen an average of 10.2 negative items removed in the first four months!
Lexington’s team of lawyers and paralegals know everything there is to know about consumer laws and how to leverage them to help you improve your credit report so you can work toward a better score.
They have been helping consumers escape the despair of unfairly reported credit for over a decade.
They have also helped their clients as a whole see millions of negative items removed from their credit reports. Since 2004, hundreds of thousands of clients have worked with them to get credit reports that accurately describe their credit history.
What can they do for you?
Lexington Law Firm assists their clients by challenging creditors, as well as credit bureaus, to make sure the items reported on their credit reports are accurate.
Companies that grant credit to consumers make mistakes all the time – and Lexington Law reviews your credit report with you and challenges creditors to remove or correct them. They are relentless in this endeavor as they comb through their client’s credit reports.
All it takes is a single stroke of a pen or click of a mouse for credit companies to damage consumer’s credit history for up to seven years. A good advocate law firm places the burden of proof back where it belongs – on the creditors and credit bureaus.
It’s simple – if a creditor cannot provide proof that an item on your report is fair, accurate, and substantiated, the negative item must be removed from your credit report.
If you keep your balances low, avoid making inquiries on your credit, and manage your credit wisely, reducing the number of negative items on your report, your score should begin to improve.

They helped me out BIG TIME
A couple of years ago, I lost my job and was going through a really rough time. Everything in my life just came crumbling down on me at once. It was a very stressful time. I was desperate and broke.
I simply couldn’t pay my bills anymore. It was very embarrassing for me. My small emergency fund was depleted after a couple of months. Eventually, I decided that bankruptcy was my best option for moving forward.
I was finally relieved of all my debt, but the financial problems didn’t stop there. My credit was so horrible that I couldn’t qualify for any loans. Again, very embarrassing for me.
One day I just decided I wasn’t going to live like that anymore. I eventually got a new job, changed my spending habits, and promised myself I would no longer live paycheck to paycheck. I had saved up a much bigger emergency fund in case anything like that ever happened again.
I spent hours and hours, night after night trying to find a solution to my credit problems. I didn’t want to wait 10 years before being able to get a loan. I knew there had to be a way around it. I eventually turned to a friend of mine who told me that he had signed up with a credit repair company.
I was very skeptical, but I did some research and read some Lexington Law reviews. I also trust my friend’s recommendation, so I give them a call at (800) 220-0084 and spoke to a credit professional who was very friendly and understanding of my situation. I started to believe that maybe this was real and I didn’t have much to lose, so I signed up.
After signing up, all you can do is wait. It seemed like forever, but after about 3 weeks, I started receiving letters in the mail from the credit bureaus saying that the negative items on my account have been deleted! I was shocked!
So, I checked my credit score again to see if it made a difference and was once again shocked that all 3 scores had gone up about 20-25 points! Over the next few months, I kept receiving letters and my credit scores kept going up. Talk about the best feeling in the world!
I cannot say enough about how much they helped me out. I would never have been able to get out of my financial situation without their help. I wouldn’t have known where to start because most of the reviews from other credit repair companies I read were awful.
It was great to have a team of professionals stepping up to the plate and going to bat for me. Now, whenever I hear a friend is trying to improve their credit score, I suggest they give Lexington Law a call.
Lexington Law Firm removed charge-offs from my credit report:
MY ONLY REGRET IS NOT SIGNING UP SOONER!
My credit scores have dramatically improved since there are no longer any negative accounts on my credit report. Here is a snapshot of my credit scores since I signed up:
Client testimonials:
“After receiving my last credit report, I noticed that my credit problems are solved and you were able to reestablish my credit. You do not know how thankful I am. I’m so happy I trusted the reviews I read online and that I went with your company. Thanks a lot!” — F.M., Lexington client
“I just wanted to thank you and tell you that your system is going to be able to put me in a home almost two years earlier than I originally expected to. My credit score has jumped over 60 points in the last 6 months to a very respectable level and now when I apply for a mortgage I will be able to name my price.
So file this e-mail in the happy customer section and I will refer anyone with less than perfect credit to your services it has made a world of difference for me!!! Thanks again!!!” — C.R., Lexington client

Frequently asked questions about Lexington Law:
Does Lexington Law work?
“Is Lexington Law a scam?” or “does this really work?” are some of the first questions that we always hear. We understand your skepticism. The answer is yes, they really do work and no, they are not a scam.
For over 14 years they have helped hundreds of thousands of clients. In 2017 alone, they had over 10 million items removed for clients. While some clients will have better results than others, their track record speaks for itself.
How do they repair your credit?
Lexington Law Firm leverages your consumer rights to dispute unfair or inaccurate negative items with the credit bureaus. They work with you to make sure your credit strategy is the most effective and then take the appropriate actions when engaging with the credit reporting agencies and your creditors.
How long do they take to repair my credit?
How fast they work always depends on your unique situation and how well the credit bureaus and your creditors cooperate. Obviously, if you have more negative items, it will take more work and more time to completely repair your credit.
Do they offer a guarantee?
No, there are no guarantees involved with legal services. Just like in a court of law, an attorney could never guarantee a client a specific outcome. The same goes for dealing with the credit bureaus and your creditors. It’s impossible to predict how they will respond.
What kind of negative items can they remove from my credit report?
Whether it be medical bills, ID theft, divorce, bankruptcy, student loans, late payments, repossessions, hard inquiries, paid collections, judgments, charge-offs, etc.; the answer is the same for every item on your credit report.
It’s possible to have any of these items removed from your credit report. That doesn’t mean they will be, as again, there are no promises or guarantees, but they absolutely can be.
Can deleted items reappear on my credit report?
Yes, on rare occasion a negative item that was recently deleted may be verified by the creditor. The Fair Credit Reporting Act requires that the credit bureau informs you before they re-report a previously deleted listing.
They also have a limited time of 5 days to re-report the item once it’s been deleted, after that it is a violation of the FCRA. The FCRA makes it difficult for credit bureaus to re-report listings and that’s why it rarely happens.
Lexington Law vs. Sky Blue Credit – who’s better?
We get asked this question all the time, as these two companies are the most popular. While we have Lexington Law ranked higher, it’s important to know that Sky Blue Credit and Lexington Law are both excellent companies.
We have laid out all of the pros and cons for both companies in our reviews and encourage you to check them both out and decide for yourself which one you think will work best for you.
Where are they located?
They are located in North Salt Lake, Utah. However, they serve the whole country. They are available in most states and have offices in several states; however, there is no need to visit them in person. All services and communications can be taken care of online and over the phone.
How much does it cost?
They offer 3 levels of service: Concord Standard, Concord Premier, and PremierPlus.
Concord Standard is $89.95 per month.
Concord Premier is $109.95 per month. Concord Premier offers credit monitoring, assistance with credit inquiries and other services not offered on the Concord Standard plan.

Do they offer a discount for family members, couples, and active military?

The one-time 50% discount will be automatically applied to both you and your spouse’s first payment. Active military members also qualify for a one-time 50% discount off the initial fee.

    Mikki Senkarik
Mikki Senkarik (1954 - ) Born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Mikki Senkarik has changed from a medical illustrator in the 1980s to a plein-air painter in the 1990s.  She attributes much of her current positive feeling about herself as a plein-air artist to her current mate. Today, Senkarik paints colorful plein-air landscapes, which are a mix of California Impressionism with a New Mexico flavor. She uses the double primary palette technique bringing her paintings to life. Her colorful landscapes are intended as Billboards of Happiness, letting the world know of all the beauty that she has to express. Senkarik is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and has illustrated 47 major medical books. Some of her early works as a painter of horses can be seen at Museum of the Horse in Lexington, Kentucky. Her colorful brush strokes splashing across the canvas creating landscapes are painted both in her studio and en-plein air. In addition to the focus on her painting, Senkarik and her husband spend an enormous amount of time giving back to the community by directing the career of other talented artists. As a medical artist Senkarik illustrated 47 major medical books and was awarded the top illustrator prize in five of nine years. She now brings that same dedication to her career as an easel painter.
When asked about the switch, she says: "- When I paint a garden scene, my energy level rises to a euphoric high. The exhilaration is difficult to explain. My work now speaks the volumes of joy I was never allowed to express as a child. I have a reason to live now and I shout it in color every day onto my canvases." Explaining her recurrent themes of architecture and flowers, Mikki says: "- Flowers seemed to germinate in my mind, and grow on my canvases. Architecture reflects the solid foundation of my life now. I no longer lead a discombobulated existence. My life has structure and stability, and the strong building is a testament to that part of me."
Her whole story goes like this:   {- Hi, I’m Mikki Senkarik. A Texas Artist, Gardener and Dallas Cowboys Fan. Painting and sketching are the breath of life for me and I can’t imagine living without being able to produce artwork.
My story is a long one that you can read on my website, www.senkarik.com. However; here is a short synopsis. I was sexually abused as a young girl by my biological father. College was a chance to get away from the abuse. I went to the University of South Florida and then to the Medical College of Georgia, earning a Master’s Degree in Medical Illustration. My first job as a Medical Illustrator was in San Antonio, Texas. It was there I met and married my first husband. My professional life was great, but my personal life was in shambles. As with the majority of abuse victims my path led from an abusive parent to an alcoholic and abusive husband.
In 1989 I really began to feel the constraints of the bad situation I was in at home plus the restrictive nature of Medical Illustration. I loved doing the Medical Drawings and enjoyed working with the doctors but the illustration had to be so exact, there was absolutely no room for deviation or inventiveness. Putting this on top of a terrible marriage and all I wanted was an outlet to escape! So I decided to venture into fine art. Horses were my first love as a little girl so I began drawing these magnificent creatures.
I became acquainted with a group of women artists and we decided to do a show at a local mall. One of the people who came through our exhibit was the State Artist of Texas, Jack White. He was very complimentary of my work so I got up my courage and asked him if he would look at my portfolio. We scheduled an appointment at an outdoor Mexican Café for the following week. After patiently looking at all the artwork I presented he said, “I want to tell you two things. First, you are a very talented artist. Far more talented than I am and could be a great painter. Secondly, You are a very sick, young lady.”
I was shocked. I didn’t believe either statement and didn’t know what to say so I didn’t say much except that it was time for me to go. How was he able to see through my false front to the pain in my soul ?
A few weeks later Jack contacted the leader of our artist’s group and asked to set up a meeting with us. The Colonial Country Club had asked him to do a show which he couldn’t because of other commitments. So he recommended our group and wanted the Director of the Country Club to come meet us. One of the other ladies had told Jack of my home situation so at the meeting he took me aside and said if I ever needed a friend to talk to he was there.
We became telephone friends and he encouraged me to get out of my abusive marriage. After several months I worked up the courage to leave and get a divorce. Jack helped me find an apartment and was a true friend. He set up an easel, canvas, palette and paints so I could paint but I kept making excuses not to get started. One day he called and said, “I’ve entered you in the contest for the cover of the San Antonio Phone Directory. The deadline is in two weeks. Get to Painting !”
I was mortified. But my professional self took over. I couldn’t miss a deadline. I got the painting completed in time. I didn’t win the cover spot but I was a winner. With Jack’s pushing I started painting.
Our friendship grew. My traveling experience was nill so he drove me all over Texas and shared his love of this wonderful state. He taught me about football and I became a fan of his Dallas Cowboys. We went farther to California, I’d never seen such beauty. I had never been treated so nicely, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. Once abused, a victim is always waiting for the inevitable to occur. But it never did. Then one day he said, “I want to show you Hawaii.” We went to all the islands, our last stop was Maui. On the afternoon before heading back to the mainland we drove the narrow, bumpy road to the backside of the island to an area called Lover’s Leap. Standing on the edge of the cliff with his arm around me Jack asked, “Mikki, I would love to spend the rest of my life with you living in places where people go on vacation. AND……… I would love to teach you to paint. Would you do this?” Mind you, we were right on the very edge of some extremely high cliffs. How could I say NO? (Smile).
With God in our lives and Jack’s love, my healing came. Jack said when he started teaching me to paint, “I don’t want to put my hand on your brush. I don’t want you to feel you have to paint like I do. I want you to be your own person.” It is amazing how his philosophy traveled from the canvas into my person.
It’s been a long journey, over 20 years. I seldom have night terrors anymore and my painting has soared.  We have lived in the vacation spots and traveled the world. I feel so fortunate to be able to say I’m no longer a victim. That out of the brambles of my former life Jack and I have found the beauty that I’m able to share with the world.}
