chuang asia (chuang 2024) has just announced their list of trainees! as usual someone made a quick facts thread for the 18+ girlies so here are some trainees i'll be watching based solely on vibes :)
my main picks at the moment are xueyao, yiyu, rjing, & akina, but i'm sure thing will shift, as they always do!
jessica (03) is a trainee under sole u entertainment, although it's unclear what her specialty is. i noticed her because she looks a bit more mature than is typical on these shows! ig: twinkletwinklejessica
zeng xueyao (01) is kinda my main pick right now, she was great on chuang 2020! it's always exciting when chuang trainees breathe lol
maliya (02) / maria - not much is known about her, but like jessica i like her vibe, we'll see though!
p.amp (02) / pam is an actress, not sure what her vocal/dance abilities are. i like her vibe! ig: ppammelar
yuan ke (03) deleted her ig lmfao but she went to shanghai musical theatre academy so im expecting Vocals. she's also done some modeling work which makes sense because she's gorgeous
pailiu (99) is a thai-vietnamese model & influencer who competed in Miss Thailand. not sure if she can sing or dance but she kinda slays anyways for now so let's see. ig: pailiuuur
anh sang (06) is a former sgo48 member. she plays piano & is an okay singer (like elyn she has a nice voice but likely minimal training). ig: nguyenlengocanhsang
yiyu (02) was on the great dance crew & is a confirmed member of A class (or whatever they're calling it this season). her dance videos are really great, it seems like popping is her specialty
r-jing (03) is a former sm trainee who left when aespa was finalized. she was on the voice kids & she's an amazing singer. ig: rjing_jeeranan
elynn (02) is a youtuber & influencer. she naturally has a really sweet voice but hasn't trained formally as far as i can tell. she plays the guitar & the piano though, which is cool. ig/yt: elynleonggg
ninnint (02) is a model & dancer. her singing voice is just okay but her vibe is so fun to me idky. ig: ninninttt
preemmy (04) is a model & a friend of p.amp's. idk what her performance experience is but she's sooo pretty idk. whoever styled her duting the pfp shot is an opp tho. she's also a huge fan of into1 so this myst be really exciting to her, lmfao. ig: p.preemmyy
akina (99) is the lead vocalist & main dancer of the jpop group faky! her vocals are fantastic and im looking forward to seeing how she does! i hope they never style her like in this profile again though 🙏 ig: akina_faky
ikema ruan (04) is the theme song center & competed on gp999. it'll be crazy if she has a miu arc (gp999 → theme song center (pdj s3) → in debut line for the whole show)
shye (02) is a singer & producer from singapore. i didn't know her before this but im really enjoying what im hearing from her! if i had to guess i'd say she's on this show for exposure since her style is a lot more alt leaning. since it introduced me to her though i guess the plot worked! ig: shye.mp3
pream (06) is a dancer and a confirmed member of A class. she was a member of the girl group celeste before they disbanded and she's currently under gmmtv record. based on celeste's only song she seems to be a rapper & a dancer. ig: im___.preme
the csr girlies need no introduction so i won't introduce them lmfao. i hope that this brings them some attention but i don't think any of them debuting would be good for their group tbh. don't really understand the decision but 🤷🏿♀️

The Music Shed - Strike the Right Chord: Drum and Guitar Lessons in Singapore
Combining guitar and drum lessons is becoming an increasingly common strategy among aspiring musicians in Singapore. Future musicians understand the importance of versatility, so combining guitar and drum courses is a smart way to build a broad skill set. Examine the advantages of combining these two fields, emphasising how it develops musicians to become skilled and adaptable performers.
Understanding the Importance of Integration
The knowledge of rhythm and melody is the foundation for the harmony between drum and guitar lessons. Guitarists handle the melodic elements, while drummers concentrate on rhythm, making for a potent combo. This integration provides a solid basis for an all-encompassing musical journey by helping players understand the complex link between these basic parts.
Benefits of Cross-Training
Enhanced Timing and Coordination:
Timing and synchronisation are greatly improved by combining guitar and drum instruction. Students who take drum lessons develop a strong sense of rhythm by learning how to internalise rhythms and keep a constant tempo. This grasp of rhythm, when coupled with guitar training, leads to accurate strumming patterns and an enhanced sense of timing when performing.

NIKI RELEASES NEW ALBUM 'BUZZ' & SHARES TITLE TRACK MV
Rosa Gulliver of TINYGMUSIC | 9th August 2024
Jakarta-born, LA-based singer-songwriter and producer NIKI firmly plants herself as one of the most dynamic artists of today with the release of her new album Buzz via 88rising, out now. Accompanying the release is the music video for title track “Buzz,” directed by Isaac Ravishankara. The video, a cheeky line-by-line depiction of the lyrics, encapsulates the rush of raw emotion and bittersweet nerves of a budding romance – glimpses of buzzing bees, a crackling guitar amp, and longing looks between two people, all signaling towards the start of something new. NIKI was initially inspired to name the record after the budding growth she observed in her garden every spring. Across thirteen tracks on the album, the singer encapsulates the feeling of being on the precipice of something undiscovered.
youtube
The album’s release joins previous singles; the love struck summer track, “Tsunami,” astrologically-inspired song “Blue Moon,” and flirty lead single “Too Much of a Good Thing.” NIKI plans to celebrate Buzz with a comprehensive world tour, produced by Live Nation, kicking off this fall. What eventually became Buzz, the third studio album by singer-songwriter and globally-renowned star NIKI, started with an urgent quake from the innermost core of her being. What surfaced in its wake was a collection of warm, stirring folk-rock songs, which crackle and flare like a bonfire between close confidantes. “I went through an identity crisis,” says the 25-year-old of Buzz. “It took a lot of trial and error, and I just stumbled upon pieces of myself along the way. I named it Buzz because it feels like I'm on the precipice of something about to happen.”
For NIKI, things have been happening progressively since she was a high schooler in Jakarta, Indonesia. As a student at an international academy, she cut her teeth scribbling lovesick poems in English class and performed acoustic guitar covers of American pop songs on YouTube. With a six-string in hand, and her family and classmates cheering her on from the audience, Nicole Zefanya then staked her claim to global stardom as NIKI.
And claim it she has - with over three billion streams worldwide, sold out shows on multiple continents, massive sets at festivals across the globe, front row seats at Paris Fashion Week, four songs on a Marvel film’s soundtrack, and some of the most phenomenal, confessional songs being released in 2024, NIKI has already established a veteran’s resume before the age of 25.
NIKI - Photo Credit: Annie Lai
On Buzz, her songwriting remains as intimate as ever. In her initial sketches of songs for Buzz, NIKI took cues from other lane-paving women with confessional, honest lyricism soundtracked by guitars. “Joni Mitchell is my songwriting north star,” she says — and uncompromising feminist luminaries like Stevie Nicks, Carly Simon and Liz Phair. To match the wandering spirit of Buzz, NIKI cultivated her own elastic approach to guitar.
To further harness this creative and personal sea change, NIKI began enlisting producers who had worked with her favourite contemporary singer-songwriters. She tapped Tyler Chester, who’d captured tracks with Madison Cunningham and Sara Bareilles; she also recruited Ethan Gruska, who counts Fiona Apple and Phoebe Bridgers as collaborators.
Buzz reverberates with the hard-earned wisdom of a young woman who charges dauntlessly towards her dreams — but can still spare a laugh if she stumbles.
About NIKI
NIKI born Nicole Zefanya on January 24 1999, is an Indonesian singer-songwriter. She is currently based in the United States and signed with the record label 88rising. She released her first full-length studio album, Moonchild, in 2020. It was followed by Nicole (2022) and recently Buzz (2024). Her debut headlining concert tour, Nicole World Tour (2022–2023), visited over 40 cities across North America, Asia, Australia, and Europe.
NIKI has garnered global recognition for her songwriting and musicianship and is among the most popular female artists from Indonesia. In 2020, NIKI was listed among Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia.
About 88rising
88rising, stylised as 88⬆, is an American record label established in 2015, known as a multifaceted entity combining management, record label functions, video production, and marketing.
The label has risen to prominence as a music platform and record label, especially for Asian American artists, and has been dubbed "The Disney of Asian hip-hop." In 2019, 88rising earned the title of Label of the Year from Netease, a major music streaming service in China.
In 2018, 88rising launched its inaugural Head in the Clouds Festival in Los Angeles, which Billboard promptly recognized as "the Asian Festival You Need To Know."
