You see the tragedy is that Greygold and The Emperor both have control issues, just different reasons for it. Both double downing on the power they know best, friendship vs illithidry, and -
Yeah no I couldn't betray Lae'zel like that. Based off past experiences, Babe has tried killing Greygold for less. But also, Lae'zel had grown so friggin' much. The sunset scene. I just couldn't. throw all that character development away. If Greyg had romanced anybody else. Literally ANYBODY ELSE-
Anyway. the tragedy is that everyone went through a beautiful life-changing character arc and Greygold really thought this was Emp's moment to face their hrm. morally conflicting confrontation with the help of friends. but hrm. Emps didn't think so. so....
