Yes, we are talking about much talked Greenfield Smart City, India’s First and DMIC’s (Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor) biggest Smart and Sustainable Dholera Smart City and what will make Dholera a “Trillion Dollar Baby”.

What is DMIC (Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor) and Dholera Smart City will add value to this corridor?
A Special Purpose company was formed to facilitate and promote DMIC or Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor with the name of DMICDC or Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited. However, when more Industrial Corridor projects were announced, the mandate of DMICDC was expanded to develop and implement all the Industrial corridor projects and name of DMICDC was changed to NICDC means National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) Limited.
Government of India is working on to develop various Industrial corridor projects as a part of National Industrial Corridor programme with an objective to develop various futuristic industrial cities which will emerge as best manufacturing and investment destinations across the globe. The National Industrial Corridor programme will generate a lot of direct and in-direct employment which will in-turn result in economic growth and we will see overall socio-economic development of our country. 11 Industrial Corridors Projects are being taken up for development with 30 Projects to be developed in 4 phases up to 2024-25

These Industrial Corridor programmes are to be developed in phases where in NICDC will work in coordination with state governments for the development of these corridors and along with these a lot of new industries smart cities will be developed.

Overall length of Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor will be 1504 kms and it will cover several states including UP, Delhi NCR, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra with end terminals at Dadri in Delhi NCR and Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) near Mumbai.
8 new Industrial Regions are to be developed along with DMIC Corridor. These regions will redefine the development of new future cities not only in India but across the Globe. Below are the names of these regions:

Greenfield Smart Cities
Greenfield Smart Cities are developed on barren land. Usually these areas are identified far from the cities or existing cities and where there is scope of development and where it will be beneficial to people. As the name itself suggest it’s just Greenfield, where no development has
ever happened and everything gets started from zero. In India, Greenfield Smart Cities program comes under Ministry of Commerce.
Brownfield Smart Cities
Brownfield Cities are those cities which are already exiting and we try to convert them into better developed cities by implementing various technologies like sensors across the city, smart traffic management, technologies like IoT, ICT, wi-fi etc. widening of roads, expressways, highways, roads and services. Modi Govt. in 2015 launched 100 Smart Cities Mission which is under Ministry of Urban Development (MoUd).
So, Greenfield and Brownfield Smart Cities are totally different concepts and has nothing to do with each other. Complete work approach, execution process, everything is different, even ministries are different for both the concepts.
Dholera being developed from barren land has seen no development before; this essentially means that Dholera comes under category of a Greenfield Smart City. Bigger than Delhi and Mumbai and conceived like international cities Frankfurt and London, Dholera is all set to give exponential returns on investment to its investors. At the present moment, Dholera is in early development phase and development of Dholera is also happening as per the Master Plan designed.

*State Level Single Window Clearance Authority Approves 10 Industrial Projects*
*Projects worth INR 1923.6 cr got clearance at one go Employment generation is likely to be more than 5000*
*Bhubaneswar, 8th October 2022:* State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) of the Govt of Odisha today held its 113th meeting under the chairpersonship of the Chief Secretary of Odisha, Suresh Chandra Mahapatra (IAS). The committee approved 10 industrial projects worth Rs 1923.60 crores that would generate employment opportunities for over 5,170 people in the state.
The projects approved in the meeting belonged to diverse sectors like Power & Renewable Energy, Chemicals, IT&ESDM, Food Processing, Oil & Gas, Metal downstream, Technical Textiles, Tourism and Infrastructure. The approved projects will be set up across Odisha with 4 of the projects being set up in Khordha, and 1 each in Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Balasore, Keonjhar and Angul.
The SLSWCA approved the proposal of M/s Luminous Power Technologies Private Limited to set up a manufacturing unit of new technology eco-friendly Batteries Fuel Cell, Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC batteries), and Power storage & Solar batteries in the Angul Aluminium Park with a proposed investment of Rs 481 Crores generating employment for over 1,150 people in the state.
The committee gave a nod to the proposal of M/s Silox India Private Limited to set up a chemical manufacturing unit in the Paradeep Industrial Area. The unit is expected to produce 25000 MTPA Sodium Formaldehyde Sulphoxylate, 2000 MTPA Zinc Formaldehyde Sulphoxylate & 15000 MTP Metal Salts of Cobalt, Nickel, Magnesium, Lithium, and Zinc. The unit is being set up with an investment of Rs 500 crore and is expected to generate employment opportunities for over 800 people in the state.
The committee also approved the investment of Rs 265 crore of M/s Happiest Minds Technologies Limited in setting up a software development centre facility offering IT services at O-Hub in Info-valley SEZ, Bhubaneswar. The project is expected to create over 1500 highly skilled job opportunities in the state.
In the Hospitality sector, the committee approved M/s MGM Resorts Pvt. Ltd.’s 5-star Hotel Hyatt Regency with an investment of Rs 180 Crores. The project will be coming up in the New Marine Drive Road, Puri. The committee also approved M/s Oil India Limited’s Oil and Gas exploration units with an installed capacity of 10KLPD each in Astaranga, Puri and Patkura, Kendrapada. OIL will be investing over Rs 108 crores in the state creating employment opportunities for over 115 people in these two locations.
In the agro and food processing sector, the Rs 150 crore worth aqua feed manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of 1,80,000 MT proposed by M/s IFB Agro Industries Limited was also approved by the committee. The project will be set up in the Somanathpur Industrial Estate, Balasore with an estimated employment potential of over 270.
The Government of Odisha has been keen on broad-basing the industrial outlook of the state along with bringing in investments in employment-intensive sectors. These approved projects in the 113th SLSWCA belong to a diverse set of employment-intensive sectors and highlight the success of the government in pursuing broad-based industrialization in the state. While Odisha has always been a destination of choice for the mineral and metallurgy sector, the stable and progressive governance over the last two decades along with factors like fast technology adoption by the state and a highly skilled workforce are contributing to the development of Odisha as an Industrial Hub in Eastern India and possibly, a fulcrum for industrial and trade-related activities in the East and South-East Asian region.

December 27 Essar Minmet Ltd Proposes To Set Up A Greenfield Pellet Plant Essar Minmet Limited  (EML) has proposed to set up  a  Greenfield  Pellet  plant  near Paradip  in  Jagatsinghpur district, Odisha for production of 14 MTPA Pellets.  The  proposed  pellet  plant  is  envisaged  to  produce both Blast Furnace (BF) grade (70-75%) and Direct Reduction (DR) grade (25-30%)  pellets,  which  will  be  sold  to  the  international  as  well  as domestic market. As per the proposed project, it will be a Greenfield project which involves setting up of iron ore beneficiation plant at Tikarpada and Kadagarh Village in Keonjhar District,  Odisha  to  produce Iron Ore concentrate which would be converted to slurry  form  for transportation to the proposed 14 MTPA Pellet of EML at Paradip via slurry pipeline of about 250 km length for production of pellets. Company sources said, it has designed a well-planned air, water and environment pollution control system, which shall mitigate any adverse impact on air, water and environment. The most unique part of the plant mechanism is water management. Essar Minmet Limited shall use a new technology to minimize the water requirement. It is said, water requirement will be met by water recovered from slurry dewatering, which is new to the country. By this process, 1/3rd of Water can be saved. Regarding the employment opportunities, company has a clear commitment. As planned, it will generate indirect employment opportunities to the tune of 700 and 50 direct employment opportunities during construction phase. Subsequently, during Operational phase approximately 149 employees will be employed directly. However, there will be indirect employment of about 450 employees. Maximum jobs will be available to the locals and guidelines of State Govt will be followed in this regards. Essar Minmet has drawn a broad plan for Socio-Economic Activity. As per the directions of MoEFCC, EML will reserve the funds and chalk out a monitorable physical action plan with time schedule to  address the concerns raised by the public during the Public Hearing and issues  arising from social need assessment. Implementation of these activities would commence from the initiation of construction activities.
