I contenued to torture myself. Aka I contenued reading Athena Complex. I'm curently in ep 5.
Basicly Metis was fine with Zeus swallowing her, but begged Poseidon to save Athena from Zeus killing her, because of the prophecy. So when Athen grown up, Poseidon rebeld ageinst Zeus (Hera, Athena, and Apollo were not part of it for somereason), faild, was defeated by Athena, who is Zeus's least favorite child (stupid decision to writre that). So Poseidon was executed, and then reincarnated as a human as a punishement.
So Poseidon was reborn in modern day South Korea, as Adrian Waters Lee. I'm not making this up. So Athena takes a vacation, discaises himself as a yaoi twink, moves next to him, and goas to the same high school class as him, for her revenge. Why? Because he rejected her. Yes, she want's to take revenge on him for rejecting her. Why did the artist thought that this was a good idea?
So anyway because of the curse Adrian is incredeble unlucky, and is bullied because of it.
So Athena get's close to him, but his only friend besides her is in the way. This firend is Sibyl, who is the dauther of a shamen, so she sees through Athena. So Athen lies to her about that she only got close to Adrian in order to date with her. I HAATEE IT!
Did the artist ever read any myths involving Athena, or anything regarding her?
Ppl would ship Poseidon with ANYBODY except his actual wife and lovers, not like he birthed a love god with Nerites or anything, not like he was so madly in love with Amphitrite he sent a dolphin to be his wing man, not like he loved Pelops and became his wing man. NOT LIKE HE HAS TONS OF INTERESTING RELATIONSHIPS yet this writer chose to use… Athena…

thinking about rune factory today and i have a recommendation for everyone who’s excited for Azuma coming up!
if you haven’t played it and have access to a computer that can run dolphin or rpcs3 seamlessly enough, or access to a wii / PS3 (if you prefer physical media), i would very much recommend trying out Oceans / Tides of Destiny, even if you don’t get very far, before Azuma releases at the end of May!
the Famitsu interview with Shiro Maekawa referenced him liking the game & basing the dual protagonists being available in the story off the setup there, but there are some other details about Oceans that very much make me think it was used as the main RF reference for Azuma past that (the way that 4 was the main reference for 5). things like:
It being the only RF with a jumping / platforming feature, which seems to be returning in Azuma!
it having a ranking / level up feature for the seasonal areas, as you can feed Rune Spirits to each of the seasonal crop islands to revitalise them & unlock more planting spots. similar to the Azuma town ranking feature unlocking new mechanics as you level a seasonal town up!
it having a very heavy focus on the adventure RPG aspect compared to the other games in the series, which Azuma is also attempting to do*
it having automated farming (related to the above point, as Azuma has optional automated farming) — in Oceans, monsters take care of the farming for you! there are different categories of monsters, with there being harvester types & planter types & the planter types offering various seasonal crops, so you place them in the seasonal islands and they do the rest. (there’s still some tedium involved if you’d prefer as you can harvest crops manually & the spirit wand eats up a lot of RP at first, but it makes things very monster-involved)
It having a pretty heavy dragon focus in a way that’s not tied to any of the main elements used in the numbered games. ofc almost all of the games bar Frontier have a Dragon Focus, but Tides does its own thing pretty divorced from the elemental dragons with its Arch Dragons, the same way Azuma is doing its own thing
* = Regarding this one, Tides is very heavy on the RPG focus vs the other RF games! it has what i would describe as probably the flashiest (and most fun, personally) combat in the series and it streamlines the farming to focus on traversing the ocean and exploring sunken islands, wrecked ships, and discovered temples. there’s even an unlockable coliseum for the postgame, and a fighting stat for the plant golem you ride across the ocean! it’s also one of the entries that goes heavier on the story focus. this all seems to line up very much with Azuma’s focus on the combat, the story, & the adventure RPG aspect!
tldr; Tides is MY favourite RF game so i’m always trying to advertise it to people lol, but i do think if you’re excited for Azuma it might be worth looking into trying out if you’re able to just because Azuma seems like it’s going to take a lot of mechanical inspiration from it! might help cut down on needing to readjust so much going from 5 to GoA & gives you a chance to look into what is ultimately Rune Factory’s most creative entry.
#tides fun fact also it’s the first game to [REDACTED FOR SPOILERS] that was also in 4 and 5#bri.txt#rune factory
