A GIVI graphic for each of the best-selling off-road bikes

The Italian firm adds three new versions to the 60.1 helmet, bringing the number of colour variants to 13 which will suit the tastes of all bikers. GIVI’S first off-road helmet, the 60.1, was born less than a year ago. It was the result of countless hours of research, laboratory tests and various competition tests carried out by Simone Cristini, a World Enduro rider who worked with the transalpine firm on the helmet’s design. The multitude of graphics and variants available on this model mean it is sure to match with any of the best-selling enduro bikes currently on the market. Two new versions of its already well-known Invert graphics as well as the Gloom, a completely new design which features an innovative and rogue aesthetic, are new for 2023. GIVI is a benchmark in the motorbike and motorcyclist accessories sector, partly due to its highly developed R&D department. Throughout the design process at its Brescia factory, GIVI believes it’s essential to listen to its users’ needs. For this reason, they have expanded their helmet catalogue to a total of 17 different models in recent years, with a multitude of graphics to adapt to the official colours of the main brands on the market, and to cater to the tastes of all two-wheeled enthusiasts. This is the case with the 60.1, of which there are three new versions in 2023.

This full-face helmet has more than 13 multicolour variations that are in line with current trends. They are divided into three graphics. The latest and most daring is the Gloom, a mix of black and red details imitating a skull, as well as a design with a splash effect. The selection doesn’t end there. The Invert, with straight and aggressive lines and a sportier style, also adds two new colours to its range this year: one in red, white and black, which is a perfect match for the GasGas EC 350, and another which boasts a more restrained design, which comes in different shades of black for the more discreet bikers. These new models, together with all its previous variants, allow the 60.1 to perfectly match the official colours of the best-selling off-road bikes.

The 60.1 has been thoroughly developed with the latest technology, the best materials and under the new European ECE 22R06 homologation. This means the tests it has passed include impact tests at different speeds - on screens, rotational, on inclined surfaces or by particles at high speed - and are more comprehensive and demanding. What’s more, all its accessories, such as the visors, also have this certification. Its shell is made from technopolymer and features hypoallergenic fabric on the inside, designed with an attractive camouflage finish, which is detachable, removable and washable. It also includes an adjustable visor, a "Double D" strap closure for greater safety, and front, upper and chin guard air intakes, together with a rear extractor. Installing a Givi Luggage Rack on a Maxia Top Case

I installed a Givi E159 luggage rack on top of my Maxia V56 top case. Sorry I didn't show the full step by step installation, but it would have involved a couple of hours of cussing, throwing tools, and searching for missing tools.

Givi's instructions kind of suck, I suggest watching more videos online that do show the full process before you give it a try. Basically, you remove the cover, tape on the pattern they sent you, drill holes, put the cover back on, drill holes through it, and then bolt the luggage rack on.

Sounds simple, right? Ha!

SATURDAY SALUTATIONS

Looks like we’ve got one more day to dry out before the next round of deluges. The current forecast for Monday is nearly 4″ of rain, and probably double that up here in the hills. 

A visitor staying at a neighbor’s house asked if they should leave. I told them they were safer here than in town, just make sure they have food, water, toilet paper, and pet food in case the road is blocked for a day or two. And I’m pretty sure it will be.

I got my Givi luggage rack installed on the FJR’s top case yesterday. What should have been a 20-30 minute job took me two hours. The Italian company’s instructions kind of suck. Drilling holes into an expensive Italian top case ain’t the easiest thing in the world either. It’s downright scary. 

Currently all three cats are in our windows, waiting for the morning birds to visit. We have one or two birds who like to antagonize them every morning. One even lands on the screen and laughs at Sassy Pants Rebecca.

Maybe the birds like eliciting that “ackackack” thing the cats do. Or is that the sound martians make just before they attack? Ack. Ack. Ack. 

Either way, it’s time for me to go. We have a Caturday to do.

As rays of sunlight was seeping through the white net curtains from the windows across their bed, Y/N scrunched her nose slightly and scrunched her nose further into the pillows. She groaned a little and tried to stretch but realized she was trapped in the arms of her boyfriend clung tightly around her frame. Looking down at her bare body, she slightly blushed remembering how she slept almost naked, well except for her sleeping shorts. She remembers they didn’t have sex last night, but he asked her to sleep with no shirt on, as he wanted his body he just wanted to feel her next to him to make him relax. Her fingers gently brushed her boyfriend’s muscular arms before gently lifting them up and prying them away from her body. Once she gently lifted the top arm, she quickly and quietly stood up and placed his arms gently back on the bed. He must’ve been exhausted, as her movement didn’t budge him and just curled into her pillow. Y/N couldn’t help but smile seeing her boyfriend Hollywood heartthrob Chris Evans, sleeping peacefully, his bare back rising and falling while breathing calmly, it brought a meditative effect on Y/N. She leaned down, brushed a few stray hairs away from his face, giving a gentle peck on his forehead, before grabbing his blue sweater slouched on the chair next to the sunlit window. She walked past the wooden post and lentil framing the bed and walked farther down the cottage suite meeting a portrait rectangle window in front of her, and cushions formed into a walled sofa on her left. That was her usual spot for the past few days, taking in the luscious greenery surrounding them when sipping her coffee

However, she decided to change the view after taking her cup of coffee, she padded back towards the bedroom and headed for the stairs leading to the attic which was projecting a bigger and more scenic view of the resort’s golf course and the Gokarna forest decorating the background.  She settled down on a wooden arm chair, her right leg was dangling from the chair and her left leg hugging her chest as she took a big sip from her mug before leaning back. Her gaze got lost into the green bushes as she thought about the sudden trip of her boyfriend jetting in from DC to Kathmandu, Nepal. She was just facetiming him, two days ago and her heart broke seeing the large bags under his red eyes from lack of sleep, exhaustion and also crying. His voice croaked, confessing to her that he has been on the go from Endgame promotions to filming, then Toronto and now in DC to work on his project. Without even thinking, she told him that she’s talking to his assistant about booking the next flight to Kathmandu and change his schedule and hopefully delay a few commitments. She was relieved that he didn’t deny Y/N’s suggestion and told her he will see her soon, thankfully luck was on her side when his assistant told him that Chris actually has the whole week off and this break would be ideal for him.

Almost 24 hours later, Y/N was waiting at the arrivals of Kathmandu airport, despite the busy crowds of tourists, families and other passengers, she was able to spot her boyfriend from the distance. Her heart leaped seeing him wearing his favorite cap and aviator sunglasses, she met him halfway through the crowd and engulfed him in a big hug, stroking his back while feeling his shaky sigh in her hair and hugged her tighter. They separated from the hug and quickly swam through the crowd to the jeep that was waiting for them to go back to the resort. Throughout the whole drive, Chris had Y/N wrapped in his arms while gazing in amazement at the passing scenery. It was equally relaxing for Y/N to be in her boyfriend’s arm, taking in his scent and snuggling further into his neck while gazing at the same views of narrow streets and traditional architecture of Kathmandu, hell Chris has never been to Hawaii, yet here he was halfway across the world in the arms of his girlfriend, the craziest but possibly the best way to take a breather. An hour and a half later, they finally arrived with the jeep parked right outside their cottage. A bell boy of the resort quickly took the luggage from the boot, while Chris stepped out of the jeep to stretch his legs, but also taking in the surroundings around him. He took a deep breath taking in the fresh air, which he felt has been a while. Turning around, seeing all the greenery around him, he thought that Y/N wasn’t lying that the resort was literally in the middle of the jungle. More importantly he was glad that the cottage was separate and farther than the rest of the resort, giving them more space and privacy.

Once they reached the top of the steps, the bell boy was walking out of the cottage, informing Y/N that he left the luggage and their dinner was set at the table. She thanked him and tipped him 100 rupees before leading Chris into their room. She simply waited patiently, for Chris to settle down, while she kicked off her ankle boots and socks while lying down on the bed, tucking her left arm underneath the pillow watching Chris. She followed his gaze surveying the whole cottage as he was taking his hoodie off, showing the white-t-shirt that was hugging his body. Placing his hands on his hips, he turned back to Y/N meeting his gaze with a soft smile on her face, and gently patted on the empty space. No later than two seconds, Chris dived into the bed, hugging Y/N tightly, inhaling deeply and releasing a few shaky breaths. Y/N felt his shoulders shaking, and wet drops on her neck and shirt, but she simply held him, lightly stroking his hair with her fingertips whispering sweet nothings into his ear and telling him that she’s here for him. She felt him tightening his hold on her, and for a moment she felt she couldn’t breathe yet she didn’t say anything because she wanted her boyfriend to release all the anxiety he was feeling. After a few minutes he calmed down and loosened his grip on her body while pecking Y/N’s neck before sitting up, and Y/N following suit stretched the end of her sleeves to wipe away the tears and wipe his nose. He smiled at her cute gesture and responded by giving her a sweet kiss on the lips. “I don’t know about you, but I’m starving and the food’s aroma lingering in the room is not helping either,” Chris confessed with a small smile on his face, the first sign of him relaxing made Y/N’s heart melt and giggle at his confession. They left the bed and got comfortable during dinner with small talk and sharing loving glances at each other. Throughout dinner, Chris couldn’t help but think that yes, his life does get hectic but not as much as Y/N’s.

Y/N’s family is one of the few existing and longest nobility family coming from a blend of various ethnicities and cultures but have been based in London since the Victorian era. Her mother an art collector and curator married a wealthy English businessman and nobleman who dealt, and his family still deals with the royal family on private and commercial affairs. Unfortunately, her father died when she was seven, but her step father was a close friend of her father’s therefore never felt like a stranger. Her older brother is a famous corporate lawyer and sister is an emerging fashion designer. Uncles, aunts, cousins have been businessman, diplomats, lawyers and many more. Instead of sticking to one thing, Y/N decided to do lots of things- philanthropy, modelling (only for friends’ local private collections) and photography. She had an Oxford Degree in Law, then decided to do her MPhil in Heritage Studies from Cambridge. Y/N and Chris met at a Vanity Fair Post Oscars party in 2017 when Chris was still in a relationship, but they kept bumping into each other and became friends due to mutual friends and colleagues from the Avengers group. He was attracted to her confidence and well her overall but at that moment he was in a relationship. She always had a crush on the Captain America star and it intensified to something further when they kept meeting and hanging out. There were some quite heated moments even when he was with Jenny Slate, but the tension became thicker when he was single again then a drunken night at Downey’s party after Infinity War they confessed and decided to give it a shot. Both could agree that things couldn’t have been better, of course despite some ups and downs like any other couple.

Being Much of a public person, she kept her life very private: she enjoyed partying and going out, but it was very private and exclusive. Chris thought his life in the limelight was tiring but never knew that Y/N’s life would be even more exhausting, due to her work and her family status. Yet what made him fall in love with her more was that she never flinched or lashed out about the cameras or paps following her, managing her private and public life was second nature to her almost embedded in her DNA. She was the only person that knew what it was like being watched almost all the time and having that connection with her just always made him trust and lean on her, while she too leaned on him.

Y/N broke away from her thoughts when she felt a pair of strong arms around her shoulders, a body learning over her and warm lips trailed her bare shoulder. “I was wondering where you were, when I saw the bed was empty” he murmured, nose nuzzling against her neck, and it didn’t help that his voice was so attractive being groggy and heavy from sleep. His beard tickling her neck and bare shoulder making her shiver in delight. She looked up and grinned at the pair of sleepy clear blue eyes before pulling him down giving him a soft lingering kiss and teasing him by nibbling his lower lips. She pulled back, stroking the back of his neck, “good morning to you too” she replied.  He then sat on small bar stool across from her, pulling her legs on his lap and gently running his fingertips down her bare legs, while his gaze never left hers. His tiny gestures just made her feel so giddy, she took another sip from her mug before asking, “Did you sleep well?” He smiled “It was the best sleep I’ve had in months, thanks to you being by my side” She placed the mug down on the floor and went to sit on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him softly. He kissed back, giving her small, sensual and slow kisses, and was gently rubbing her back before humming and letting go. She cupped his face gently stroking his cheeks with her thumb studying the fresh look on his face and the lack of eyebags. “Now what does my beautiful girlfriend have in store for today?” he asked pulling her closer to him, she yelped a little and laughed.

“Well” she sighed, I still have to finish that photoshoot, you’re more than welcome to tag along” He pecked her lips, “As much as that sounds tempting, I was thinking of staying back, and calling home. I texted mom and Scott about my sudden plan, but I didn’t have enough time to explain the whole situation to them.” “Well that’s perfectly fine to me, I’ll be back by the evening, Dashrath dai (The cottage keeper) will be bringing in lunch, if you get bored, he’ll be more than happy to show you around.” She explained. “Also” she added, “Pack a pair of clothes for tonight, I have a surprise for you.” Chris raised his eyebrows in curiosity “What exactly do you have in store” Y/N scoffed playfully, well it’s not a surprise if I tell you. No! Don’t give me those puppy eyes, Dodger is enough. We’re a little behind schedule so I have to finish it today, so I can spend more time with you” “Okay” he mumbled trying to act disappointed, but he was just messing with her. She stood up from his lap and headed for the stairs, after going down a few steps, she turned back to him cocking an eyebrow “If you mope around like that, I guess I’ll be taking a bath alone before breakfast.” It took a while for Chris to digest what she said because as soon as she was in the bathroom slipping her clothes off, she heard eager foot steps down the stairs and to the bathroom, he must’ve stripped along the way because as soon as she was naked, he dragged her to the bathtub with him.

An hour after breakfast and attempts of not letting Y/N go, she had left for the photoshoot (which is in the premises of the resort), Chris explored the rest of the cottage before giving a call to his mom and brother. It was almost midnight in Boston, but the family was awake due to the weekend, Chris explained the whole situation to his mom and Scott who patiently listened to his whole story of when he started feeling the anxiety and how he ended up at a forest resort in Nepal with his girlfriend. “Well bud, I’m really sorry you had to go through all of that, and never forget that we’re all here for you, literally a call or a drive away. But I’m so fucking jealous that you’re in Nepal! Ugh maybe send the memo a little earlier next time, so I can tag along. You have more stamps on your passport than I do” Scott exclaimed making Chris roll his eyes at his antics. “Scott!” Lisa exclaimed and smacked him playfully before turning back to Chris “Sweetie, I’m so happy that you’re feeling so much better, and that you’re also with Y/N. You’re so lucky that apart from her work, she thought of your happiness and brought you to such a beautiful location. Which I got to agree with Scott, I’m jealous too” She ended playfully. Chris chuckled at her remark before sighing “Yeah mom, I am so lucky to have her, and she’s been taking care of me ever since I landed, but I don’t … I feel… I don’t wanna be a burden to her.” He confessed as he sat down on the walled sofa looking at the green golf course. Scott butted in “Hey, I know Y/N and you’re not being a burden to her, she called you over because she loves you, she knows how you get anxiety and worked up because you care so much about the things you do. If she didn’t know that about you, you guys wouldn’t be together in the first place and more importantly she wouldn’t have called you over.” Chris admitted Scott was right, and he felt better but he still couldn’t shake the negativity completely. “Okay, enough talking enjoy the rest of the time their love, we’ll talk to you soon.” Lisa chipped in and then they exchanged their goodbyes before hanging up. Chris plopped his phone on the couch then he heard Dashrath dai, bringing lunch in, he decided to take Y/N’s suggestion and asked him to show around to take his mind off a few things.

Just like Y/N promised she was back after a few hours, wearing the same clothes she wore when she left but her hair was straighter from the ironing and also had smoky eye make-up on from the photoshoot. She spotted Chris sitting at the area next to the kitchenette and the large portrait with headphones on and engrossed in a book. No wonder he didn’t notice her coming back, she quietly tip toed behind him and slipped the headphones from his ears. He jolted a little at the surprise action but eased seeing Y/N standing behind him. He folded the page he was reading and set it down at the coffee table. He tugged her into his lap where she exclaimed in surprise, but he muffled it with his lips on hers. She moaned lightly into the kiss, when he nipped her bottom lip and pulled away. “How was the shoot?” he asked, curling some strand hairs behind her ear, she stretched a little and replied “mmm tiring but it was a lot of fun! I’m just so glad to be back home though” she pecked his lips again. His thumb was stroking her lower back when he spoke “So Dashrath Dai, told me something very interesting which you didn’t tell me, that this cottage actually belongs to your family, because your family are close friends with the Shrestha’s and also helped rebuild the place after the earthquake. But also, how you contributed to the whole layout and decoration, and provided so much support.” Y/N groaned in embarrassment and hid her face in her hands, “Oh he loves sharing that to all our friends and family” “Well” he pushed her hands away from her face and cupped her face “If you ask me, it’s the most amazing thing to share, you and your family have done so much and I’m always proud of whatever you do. It just makes me fall deeper for you.” She nuzzled her nose against his and pecked him again reciprocating her feelings. She then stood up, “Right let’s go before, the sun sets the surprise awaits!” Y/N exclaimed before grabbing her tote bag and Chris got his after wearing his light sweater following Y/N out of the door and to the roofless jeep that was waiting for them. She dropped their bags at the backseat before settling into the driver’s seat and Chris following suit into the passenger seat. “I’m very eager to know where we’re going” he asked, while she started the car and drove along the path from the golf course going into the forest following the string of fire lit lamps. As they drove deeper into the forest, they could hear birds, monkeys and other animals from all corners of the forest, finally Chris eyes widened when he spotted a tree, it was not only a tree but a massive tree house. The large barks were spread, with small two huts fitting in the spaces between. A flight of wooden stairs, curving around the large tree were leading up to the big hut. Dasrath dai was there, lighting up the last lantern next to the jeep, he smiled while getting their bags from the back and hopped up the stairs to drop it in their room for the night. Chris was speechless when he stepped out of the jeep, he was in a daze even when he felt Y/N take his hand and leading him up to their room.

The room small yet spacious had a queen-sized bed was cornered up against the right wall and they were welcomed with a massive open window painting a picture of the Gokarna lake and the wildlife surrounding it. A2 Motorcycle License Holders Should Consider The Benelli TRK502

As a motorcycle tour operator, I’d like to think that our marketing material makes it clear what we do, nevertheless, over the years I’ve operated I’ve had many unusual requests. Although loosely related to motorcycle touring, the common thread of these non-standard requests is, they are invariably from people who don’t have a motorcycle license; something that should be a foregone conclusion as being a prerequisite for participating in a motorcycle tour. An example of these requests was “Granny will be 90 on her birthday and she has never been on a motorcycle but we want to make it a special day for her, so, can you take her pillion on a tour”. Declining any business is always a difficult decision although we try to do so in a polite manner and make some sensible suggestions for an alternative gift. Although it is rare we have had requests from riders who hold an A2 license. We have to advise these riders to bring their own bike. However, the practicalities of this can be too great a challenge for the inexperienced rider as they might need to ride a thousand miles just to reach the tour start and perhaps another thousand miles home at the end. Naturally we would rather not put a rider at potential risk asking them to side so far especially with a deadline to meet but few can afford or justify several weeks off for a biking holiday and so attempt to cover high mileages each day between home and tour location arriving invariably exhausted before the real trip has even begun. I had recent spate of unfortunate incidents that began whilst travelling to Fort Augustus to research a tour when I incurred a rear puncture. Roadside attempts at a repair had proven ineffective and so I called the RAC who collected the bike and took it to Inverness where a new tyre was fitted. The following day when returning to Ft Augustus from the Isle of Skye my gear change leaver snapped off! I can only speculate that when strapped into the van on its journey to Inverness that a strap must have been placing pressure on the leaver and perhaps weakened it. Anyway, a bit of road side emergency repair with some gaffer tape (always carry some!) soon got the gear changer working again enough to complete the research trip and get back to Glasgow. On my return, I ordered a new changer through a local family run Benelli, Kawasaki, Royal Enfield and Sym dealership albeit my ride is a Triumph but I use them because they also service, maintain and MOT all brands of motorcycle. A few days later they advised that the part was in stock and when I arrived they offered to fit it for me. Whilst in the shop I was drawn to the Benelli TRK502 an adventure bike specifically targeted towards the A2 license holder and daily commuters. Brand new out the box it can be on the road for just £5,699 which seems excellent value for the money. They suggested I take it for a test ride whilst my repair was being undertaken. I am well accustomed to hopping on and off different bikes but with my short legs, 29″, many adventure bikes are a stretch for me. I often have to slide part way off the saddle just to reach the ground but the Benelli with a saddle height at 815mm was a comfortable reach for me. I’m sure this would prove reassuring to new riders even those with longer legs. I felt immediately at ease with the bike. The saddle is very comfortable and the upright riding position is very relaxed. The windshield is effective although depending on your height it may benefit an additional deflector to divert air over the helmet. Although the bike with a full tank of fuel is quoted about 250kg it didn’t feel so heavy to me, it’s very well balanced with the weight lying low in the frame, so, I wonder if those quoted weights include the full luggage set because the bike I was riding had a full Givi pannier rack with only the top box on that day. Note that the Givi rear and side racks, screen winglets, crash bars and USB accessory power point all come as standard equipment. For the technical minded the Benelli TRK 502 is chain driven twin cylinder with a displacement of 499.6cc and 6 speed gearbox. Remember that this bike is addressing the A2 market and so the maximum power is 47BHP (35 kW) at 8500 rpm and the torque is of 45 Nm (4.6 kgm) at 4500 rpm. There are twin disks front and a single at the rear. The front wheel is 110/80 R19 and the rear 150/70 R17. I have to say that my first impressing was that the engine was rather lacklustre but I’ll try not to be critical of that because it only produces about a third of what I’m used to and apart from riding a Suzuki Bandit that had been mapped to 47BHP I’ve got little experience of riding bikes with that low output. I’m sure if this is all you are licensed to ride you will find it not only comparable with others A2 restricted engines but also preferable. I’d certainly far prefer to ride the Benelli than that restricted Suzuki. The TRK502 pulls well in all gears with smooth progression throughout the rev range. The brakes felt a little spongy at first but I soon adjusted to their feel by applying a bit more pressure. This is not a bad thing for inexperienced riders who might otherwise lockup a disk by braking too harshly. Although another pint of note is that being Euro4 rated it also has ABS as standard. If Benelli made the TRK with a bigger engine I’d consider one because I think it would be a contender for the BMW F700/F800GS, Kawasaki Versys 650, Suzuki VStrom 650, Triumph Tiger 800, Yamaha Tracer 700, etc. I can also foresee it being utilised abroad for fleet hire touring due to its ease of handling, luggage capacity and economy. The Benelli TRK502 should not only be considered by younger riders with restricted licenses, it will also appeal to those who have a full license but uninterested in high speeds or want to keep the points off their licence as well as those who want a comfortable economic very well handling commuter because the Benelli TRK502 ticks all the boxes.
