The Italian firm adds three new versions to the 60.1 helmet, bringing the number of colour variants to 13 which will suit the tastes of all bikers. GIVI’S first off-road helmet, the 60.1, was born less than a year ago. It was the result of countless hours of research, laboratory tests and various competition tests carried out by Simone Cristini, a World Enduro rider who worked with the transalpine firm on the helmet’s design. The multitude of graphics and variants available on this model mean it is sure to match with any of the best-selling enduro bikes currently on the market. Two new versions of its already well-known Invert graphics as well as the Gloom, a completely new design which features an innovative and rogue aesthetic, are new for 2023. GIVI is a benchmark in the motorbike and motorcyclist accessories sector, partly due to its highly developed R&D department. Throughout the design process at its Brescia factory, GIVI believes it’s essential to listen to its users’ needs. This full-face helmet has more than 13 multicolour variations that are in line with current trends. They are divided into three graphics. The Invert, with straight and aggressive lines and a sportier style, also adds two new colours to its range this year: one in red, white and black, which is a perfect match for the GasGas EC 350, and another which boasts a more restrained design, which comes in different shades of black for the more discreet bikers. These new models, together with all its previous variants, allow the 60.1 to perfectly match the official colours of the best-selling off-road bikes.

The 60.1 has been thoroughly developed with the latest technology, the best materials and under the new European ECE 22R06 homologation. This means the tests it has passed include impact tests at different speeds - on screens, rotational, on inclined surfaces or by particles at high speed - and are more comprehensive and demanding. What’s more, all its accessories, such as the visors, also have this certification. Its shell is made from technopolymer and features hypoallergenic fabric on the inside, designed with an attractive camouflage finish, which is detachable, removable and washable. SATURDAY SALUTATIONS

Looks like we’ve got one more day to dry out before the next round of deluges. The current forecast for Monday is nearly 4″ of rain, and probably double that up here in the hills. 

A visitor staying at a neighbor’s house asked if they should leave. I told them they were safer here than in town, just make sure they have food, water, toilet paper, and pet food in case the road is blocked for a day or two. And I’m pretty sure it will be.

I got my Givi luggage rack installed on the FJR’s top case yesterday. What should have been a 20-30 minute job took me two hours. The Italian company’s instructions kind of suck. Drilling holes into an expensive Italian top case ain’t the easiest thing in the world either. It’s downright scary. 

Currently all three cats are in our windows, waiting for the morning birds to visit. We have one or two birds who like to antagonize them every morning. One even lands on the screen and laughs at Sassy Pants Rebecca.

Maybe the birds like eliciting that “ackackack” thing the cats do. Or is that the sound martians make just before they attack? Ack. Ack. Ack. 

Either way, it’s time for me to go. We have a Caturday to do.

As rays of sunlight was seeping through the white net curtains from the windows across their bed, Y/N scrunched her nose slightly and scrunched her nose further into the pillows. She groaned a little and tried to stretch but realized she was trapped in the arms of her boyfriend clung tightly around her frame. Looking down at her bare body, she slightly blushed remembering how she slept almost naked, well except for her sleeping shorts. She remembers they didn’t have sex last night, but he asked her to sleep with no shirt on, as he wanted his body he just wanted to feel her next to him to make him relax. Her fingers gently brushed her boyfriend’s muscular arms before gently lifting them up and prying them away from her body. Once she gently lifted the top arm, she quickly and quietly stood up and placed his arms gently back on the bed. He must’ve been exhausted, as her movement didn’t budge him and just curled into her pillow. Y/N couldn’t help but smile seeing her boyfriend Hollywood heartthrob Chris Evans, sleeping peacefully, his bare back rising and falling while breathing calmly, it brought a meditative effect on Y/N. She leaned down, brushed a few stray hairs away from his face, giving a gentle peck on his forehead, before grabbing his blue sweater slouched on the chair next to the sunlit window. She walked past the wooden post and lentil framing the bed and walked farther down the cottage suite meeting a portrait rectangle window in front of her, and cushions formed into a walled sofa on her left. That was her usual spot for the past few days, taking in the luscious greenery surrounding them when sipping her coffee

However, she decided to change the view after taking her cup of coffee, she padded back towards the bedroom and headed for the stairs leading to the attic which was projecting a bigger and more scenic view of the resort’s golf course and the Gokarna forest decorating the background.  She settled down on a wooden arm chair, her right leg was dangling from the chair and her left leg hugging her chest as she took a big sip from her mug before leaning back. Her gaze got lost into the green bushes as she thought about the sudden trip of her boyfriend jetting in from DC to Kathmandu, Nepal. She was just facetiming him, two days ago and her heart broke seeing the large bags under his red eyes from lack of sleep, exhaustion and also crying. His voice croaked, confessing to her that he has been on the go from Endgame promotions to filming, then Toronto and now in DC to work on his project. Without even thinking, she told him that she’s talking to his assistant about booking the next flight to Kathmandu and change his schedule and hopefully delay a few commitments. She was relieved that he didn’t deny Y/N’s suggestion and told her he will see her soon, thankfully luck was on her side when his assistant told him that Chris actually has the whole week off and this break would be ideal for him.

Almost 24 hours later, Y/N was waiting at the arrivals of Kathmandu airport, despite the busy crowds of tourists, families and other passengers, she was able to spot her boyfriend from the distance. Her heart leaped seeing him wearing his favorite cap and aviator sunglasses, she met him halfway through the crowd and engulfed him in a big hug, stroking his back while feeling his shaky sigh in her hair and hugged her tighter. They separated from the hug and quickly swam through the crowd to the jeep that was waiting for them to go back to the resort. Throughout the whole drive, Chris had Y/N wrapped in his arms while gazing in amazement at the passing scenery. It was equally relaxing for Y/N to be in her boyfriend’s arm, taking in his scent and snuggling further into his neck while gazing at the same views of narrow streets and traditional architecture of Kathmandu, hell Chris has never been to Hawaii, yet here he was halfway across the world in the arms of his girlfriend, the craziest but possibly the best way to take a breather. An hour and a half later, they finally arrived with the jeep parked right outside their cottage. A bell boy of the resort quickly took the luggage from the boot, while Chris stepped out of the jeep to stretch his legs, but also taking in the surroundings around him. He took a deep breath taking in the fresh air, which he felt has been a while. Turning around, seeing all the greenery around him, he thought that Y/N wasn’t lying that the resort was literally in the middle of the jungle. More importantly he was glad that the cottage was separate and farther than the rest of the resort, giving them more space and privacy.

Once they reached the top of the steps, the bell boy was walking out of the cottage, informing Y/N that he left the luggage and their dinner was set at the table. She thanked him and tipped him 100 rupees before leading Chris into their room. Installing a Givi Luggage Rack on a Maxia Top Case

I installed a Givi E159 luggage rack on top of my Maxia V56 top case. Sorry I didn't show the full step by step installation, but it would have involved a couple of hours of cussing, throwing tools, and searching for missing tools.

Givi's instructions kind of suck, I suggest watching more videos online that do show the full process before you give it a try. Basically, you remove the cover, tape on the pattern they sent you, drill holes, put the cover back on, drill holes through it, and then bolt the luggage rack on.

A2 Motorcycle License Holders Should Consider The Benelli TRK502

As a motorcycle tour operator, I’d like to think that our marketing material makes it clear what we do, nevertheless, over the years I’ve operated I’ve had many unusual requests. Although loosely related to motorcycle touring, the common thread of these non-standard requests is, they are invariably from people who don’t have a motorcycle license; something that should be a foregone conclusion as being a prerequisite for participating in a motorcycle tour. An example of these requests was “Granny will be 90 on her birthday and she has never been on a motorcycle but we want to make it a special day for her, so, can you take her pillion on a tour”. Declining any business is always a difficult decision although we try to do so in a polite manner and make some sensible suggestions for an alternative gift. Although it is rare we have had requests from riders who hold an A2 license. We have to advise these riders to bring their own bike. However, the practicalities of this can be too great a challenge for the inexperienced rider as they might need to ride a thousand miles just to reach the tour start and perhaps another thousand miles home at the end. Naturally we would rather not put a rider at potential risk asking them to side so far especially with a deadline to meet but few can afford or justify several weeks off for a biking holiday and so attempt to cover high mileages each day between home and tour location arriving invariably exhausted before the real trip has even begun. I had recent spate of unfortunate incidents that began whilst travelling to Fort Augustus to research a tour when I incurred a rear puncture. Roadside attempts at a repair had proven ineffective and so I called the RAC who collected the bike and took it to Inverness where a new tyre was fitted. The following day when returning to Ft Augustus from the Isle of Skye my gear change leaver snapped off! I can only speculate that when strapped into the van on its journey to Inverness that a strap must have been placing pressure on the leaver and perhaps weakened it. Anyway, a bit of road side emergency repair with some gaffer tape (always carry some!) soon got the gear changer working again enough to complete the research trip and get back to Glasgow. On my return, I ordered a new changer through a local family run Benelli, Kawasaki, Royal Enfield and Sym dealership albeit my ride is a Triumph but I use them because they also service, maintain and MOT all brands of motorcycle. A few days later they advised that the part was in stock and when I arrived they offered to fit it for me. Whilst in the shop I was drawn to the Benelli TRK502 an adventure bike specifically targeted towards the A2 license holder and daily commuters. Brand new out the box it can be on the road for just £5,699 which seems excellent value for the money. They suggested I take it for a test ride whilst my repair was being undertaken. I am well accustomed to hopping on and off different bikes but with my short legs, 29″, many adventure bikes are a stretch for me. I often have to slide part way off the saddle just to reach the ground but the Benelli with a saddle height at 815mm was a comfortable reach for me. I’m sure this would prove reassuring to new riders even those with longer legs. I felt immediately at ease with the bike. The saddle is very comfortable and the upright riding position is very relaxed. The windshield is effective although depending on your height it may benefit an additional deflector to divert air over the helmet. Although the bike with a full tank of fuel is quoted about 250kg it didn’t feel so heavy to me, it’s very well balanced with the weight lying low in the frame, so, I wonder if those quoted weights include the full luggage set because the bike I was riding had a full Givi pannier rack with only the top box on that day. Note that the Givi rear and side racks, screen winglets, crash bars and USB accessory power point all come as standard equipment. For the technical minded the Benelli TRK 502 is chain driven twin cylinder with a displacement of 499.6cc and 6 speed gearbox. Remember that this bike is addressing the A2 market and so the maximum power is 47BHP (35 kW) at 8500 rpm and the torque is of 45 Nm (4.6 kgm) at 4500 rpm. There are twin disks front and a single at the rear. The front wheel is 110/80 R19 and the rear 150/70 R17. I have to say that my first impressing was that the engine was rather lacklustre but I’ll try not to be critical of that because it only produces about a third of what I’m used to and apart from riding a Suzuki Bandit that had been mapped to 47BHP I’ve got little experience of riding bikes with that low output. I’m sure if this is all you are licensed to ride you will find it not only comparable with others A2 restricted engines but also preferable. I’d certainly far prefer to ride the Benelli than that restricted Suzuki. The TRK502 pulls well in all gears with smooth progression throughout the rev range. The brakes felt a little spongy at first but I soon adjusted to their feel by applying a bit more pressure. This is not a bad thing for inexperienced riders who might otherwise lockup a disk by braking too harshly. Although another pint of note is that being Euro4 rated it also has ABS as standard. If Benelli made the TRK with a bigger engine I’d consider one because I think it would be a contender for the BMW F700/F800GS, Kawasaki Versys 650, Suzuki VStrom 650, Triumph Tiger 800, Yamaha Tracer 700, etc. I can also foresee it being utilised abroad for fleet hire touring due to its ease of handling, luggage capacity and economy. The Benelli TRK502 should not only be considered by younger riders with restricted licenses, it will also appeal to those who have a full license but uninterested in high speeds or want to keep the points off their licence as well as those who want a comfortable economic very well handling commuter because the Benelli TRK502 ticks all the boxes.
