Best GMAT, SAT, GRE, CAT, TOEFL and IELTS Coaching Institute/Classes in Malad, Mumbai - Global Course
Overseas Education: Right Time to Take GMAT, GRE, SAT, etc…
One question I often come across from my students and parents alike is that when should the candidates appear for their GMAT, GRE, SAT, IELTS, etc. Having an experience of more than 20 years in the field of education abroad, I believe that all the requisite tests should be taken a year before the final year of the course the student is pursuing, for example, if a student is doing his B. Tech, which a four year program, the student should take GRE and IELTS while he is in the third year if he does not want to drop a year after his graduation. Similarly, if the student is doing his IBDP, Cambridge A Levels, etc., he should appear for SAT and IELTS while he is in IBDP-1, AS Level or any other course equivalent to the 11th grade. I will justify my recommendation in the next paragraphs.
First of all, we all know that all the students have a lot of additional work in their final year of the course, i.e. they have their projects, internships and other submissions in the final year. Additionally, they have an extra pressure to perform better in their final year to get good grades. Hence, to put them under an additional pressure of GRE, GMAT, SAT, IELTS, etc., shall be nothing short of mental and physical torture. Many students make a mistake of appearing for their SAT, GRE or GMAT at the eleventh hour. In that case, they compromise with their scores or they miss admission deadlines of many reputed colleges and universities. In some extreme cases, the students are forced to drop an entire academic year, which proves disastrous for their careers.
On the contrary, when the aspirants of overseas education are in their penultimate year of the course, they are more relaxed. They will be at ease to spare 3-4 months for their GRE, GMAT, SAT and IELTS preparation. Since GRE, GMAT and SAT scores are valid for five years and IELTS score is valid for two years, the students won’t have any tension of loss of validity of their scores. Further, these scores will be fresh and recent if they send their admission applications within a year of appearing for these examinations. Further, the students will have sufficient time to boost their profiles as per the requirements of the courses and the universities they are aspiring for. Also, they have plethora of time to be mentally and otherwise prepare for their higher studies, including their Statement of Purpose SOPs, Letters of Recommendation LORs, etc.
In short, if you are an aspirant of higher studies in The USA, The UK, Canada, Australia, etc., start preparing for your GMAT, GRE, IELTS, etc. on the completion of the third year if you are pursuing a four year degree program or on the completion of the second year if you are doing a three year bachelor’s degree. The candidates planning to go for undergraduate programs should start preparing for their SAT and IELTS on the completion of their 11th grade or equivalent exams. Thus, you will be more relaxed, more focused and better prepared. Good luck!

5 tactics to get the highest grade in GRE Sentence Equivalence
Tumblr media
Preparing for the GRE online test is more than studying the meaning of a list of random words. Although this technique is important and can benefit you, it is not the most appropriate if you are looking to get the best possible score, and even exceed your expectations.
Instead, the key to standing out with an enviable score -which you can prepare in the online GRE course- is to understand the words and the elements that surround them, so that you can make the best use of them, arrange them correctly and pass. all the exercises in the Sentence Equivalence subsection, which we will study in this free GRE guide.
GRE Training in Coimbatore
This section of the test is often confused with another part of the Verbal section, such as Sentence Completion or Text Completion. But they really have very different elements and purposes that we will study below.
What is Sentence Equivalence of the GRE?
Basically, sentence equivalence questions have a sentence with a blank space. You must choose two answers from among six available alternatives, with the particularity that both must give a similar meaning to the complete sentence, that is, that the two words you have chosen can be applied equally and correctly.
But it is not as simple as it seems: the test makers intentionally introduce answer options that are very similar, with the aim of creating confusion and limiting your ability to evaluate all the necessary elements that lead you to answer correctly.
GRE Training Institutes in Coimbatore
When the time comes to analyze each of the options, you will see that they are similar to each other. You will have to apply a series of premeditated strategies that will lead you to find the correct answer.
As part of the GRE online classes from home of EXAM Madrid Academy, here we leave you the best strategies for the Sentence Equivalence subsection:
1. Objective: synonyms in sentences
As we explained above, the objective is to choose two words that, when applied to the blank space of the question, have the same meaning as each other and correctly complete the incomplete sentence of the exercise.
And how do you achieve that? Surely you will think that it is very simple: looking for synonymous words, which are different but have the same meaning.
This is an innocent mistake that many students of online GRE courses often make. But since you have arrived at the indicated language academy in Madrid, we will give you the key to modify that objective and redirect your GPS towards success: it is not a question of finding synonymous words, but of identifying among the six answer options, the two that when placed in the blank space they are a complete synonym, that is, that the complete sentence is a synonym of another.
If you look closely, there is no room for confusion: among the six alternatives you have, there will only be two words that meet these parameters. During your practice sessions in the GRE online course you will be able to perform real-time drills of the GRE, emulating the same conditions of the test, stopwatch activated, entering our virtual classroom and online platform.
2. Rely on the context of the incomplete sentence
This strategy complements the previous one perfectly. And it is that the two words that you will choose are intrinsically related to the context of the incomplete sentence. This is where the key lies to resolve the issue immediately, as quickly and accurately as possible.
By analyzing the meaning, what is meant in the sentence, its goal, then there will be no way to lose points. Let's put it in a very easy to understand way: if you focus on answer options that are synonymous, you will fail to give your answer, because the fact that they are synonymous does not guarantee that they fit the meaning of the incomplete sentence correctly.
GRE Coaching in Coimbatore
On the other hand, based on the context of said sentence, you will see without a doubt which of the answer options do meet the essential requirement: that the sentence is incomplete, by completing both word number one and word number two., is consistent and generally has the same meaning in both scenarios, even though they are different words.
3. Simplify the sentence and play with your own answers
During your practice sessions in the online GRE course from home, try these two strategic phases of adapting to the Sentence Equivalence subsection.
First, simplify the incomplete sentence. How? When reading the practice sentences, you will notice that, just like you will see on the GRE, many will contain filler information, which ends up being expendable in the end. This occurs in some cases, not in all. In any case, as we are practicing, it is very valid and useful to do it, because you will be training and conditioning your brain for what is coming.
Then, break down the practice sentences by determining which are the key words and which ones can be skipped almost automatically by your mind. This will help you to always stay focused and focused on the goal, which is to answer each question correctly.
GRE Classes in Coimbatore
After mentally simplifying the incomplete sentences, take the risk of giving your own answers, that is, choosing two words from your mind, without looking at the six alternatives in the exercise.
Next, compare your choice of words with those in the exercise. If you have got any right, it is because many answers are usually obvious. The more you do, the more comfortable you'll feel with Sentence Equivalence. We guarantee it!
4. Apply the assertive discard
Strategy number four can be applied individually, without following the recommended procedures in the first three strategies of this free GRE guide. Assertive discarding is characterized by reviewing the response options.
One by one, start placing them in the blank space of the practice exercise. Analyze all of them individually and draw your own conclusions, asking yourself the logical questions: Does the word fit correctly? What is the general meaning that you give to the complete sentence? Does it make sense to put that word or does it sound incoherent?
GRE Training in Coimbatore
When you get to the last one, there may be only two options out of six that match in meaning, are similar, and flow with the incomplete sentence, completing it appropriately. In case there are more than two, then do a review and start reducing your hit range until you get the two correct ones.
It's very simple: words that lose strength in terms of fluency, context, sense and meaning will be discarded along the way. That is what this strategy of the GRE course in Madrid is about. Ready and ready to apply it?
5. Prepare yourself with practical exercises
At this point in the free GRE guide, it's time to ask yourself a very important question: Do you have doubts about what the Sentence Equivalence subsection is like? Whatever your answer, we will give you very important practical material, as part of the GRE online course from home.
