Dive into Your Dream Oasis: Choosing the Right Swimming Pool Construction Company to Revamp Your Outdoor Space
Summer is just around the corner, and you know what that means: it’s time to turn your backyard into a paradise! If you’re daydreaming about lazy afternoons by the pool or hosting epic barbecue parties, the first step is finding the right swimming pool construction company. Let’s dive into how to revamp your outdoor space and make your aquatic dreams come true!
Why Invest in a Pool?
Splashing Into Leisure
Let’s face it: a swimming pool is more than just a water-filled hole in your backyard. It’s a lifestyle upgrade! Imagine the convenience of a refreshing dip just steps away from your living room. Not only does a pool provide a perfect escape from the summer heat, but it also becomes a gathering spot for family and friends. Whether you’re floating with a drink or having a lively pool party, your home transforms into the ultimate summer hangout.
Moreover, a pool opens the door to countless activities. From swimming laps to hosting poolside movie nights, the options are endless. You can even create a workout routine that incorporates water aerobics, making exercise feel less like a chore and more like fun.
Boosting Your Property Value
Besides the fun factor, investing in a pool can significantly increase your property value. In many neighborhoods, homes with swimming pools sell faster and at higher prices. So, while you’re enjoying those sunny days, you’re also making a smart financial decision. Plus, think of the bragging rights! “Oh, you have a pool? That’s nice. Have you seen mine?”
A well-constructed pool not only enhances your lifestyle but also makes your home more attractive to potential buyers. Real estate experts often highlight pools as a desirable feature that sets a home apart in the market.
Choosing the Right Swimming Pool Construction Company
When it comes to finding the right swimming pool construction company, doing your homework is essential. Start by checking online reviews and testimonials. What are previous customers saying about their experience? A reputable swimming pool construction company in India will have a solid portfolio of projects and a list of satisfied clients. Take the time to browse through photos of their completed pools to gauge their style and quality.
Additionally, don’t hesitate to visit completed projects if possible. This can give you a real sense of the company’s craftsmanship and the types of pools they excel at building. Many contractors are more than happy to show off their work, especially if it leads to more business!
Ask for Recommendations
Don’t forget the power of personal connections! Ask friends, family, or neighbors for recommendations. If someone has a pool you admire, inquire about who built it. Often, personal experiences can lead you to reputable contractors who might not pop up in your online searches. Once you have a shortlist, it’s time to reach out for consultations.
When speaking with potential contractors, ask about their experience, project timelines, and any warranties they offer. This not only helps you gauge their professionalism but also sets clear expectations for your own project.
Initial Consultations: What to Expect
Getting Down to Business
During your initial consultation with a swimming pool construction company, be prepared to discuss your vision. This is where your ideas start to take shape! Share your dreams, preferences, and budget. A good contractor will listen attentively and offer insights based on their expertise. They may suggest different styles — like infinity pools, lap pools, or family-friendly designs — with their unique features.
Don’t be afraid to dream big! If you want a waterfall, a swim-up bar, or even a hot tub, let them know. The more details you provide, the better they can tailor the design to suit your desires.
Design and Planning
After discussing your ideas, the company will create a design plan tailored to your space and preferences. They should provide you with detailed drawings and possibly 3D renderings to help you visualize the project. This stage is crucial because it sets the tone for your entire backyard revamp. Don’t hesitate to ask questions or request modifications; after all, this is your dream!
Also, consider the landscaping and surrounding features at this stage. Think about how you want to integrate the pool into your existing outdoor space. Will you add a deck, patio, or outdoor kitchen? These elements can enhance the overall design and functionality of your backyard.
Navigating the Permitting Process
Getting Your Ducks in a Row
Once you’ve settled on a design, it’s time to tackle the permitting process. Depending on where you live, local regulations may require permits for pool construction. A reputable swimming pool construction company will handle this for you, ensuring all necessary permits are acquired before breaking ground. This is one of the many reasons it pays to work with professionals — they know the ins and outs of local laws.
This phase might take some time, so patience is key. While waiting for permits, consider finalizing your landscaping and accessory choices. This way, you can hit the ground running once construction begins!
Staying Informed
While the construction team is responsible for the permits, it’s still good to stay informed. Ask your contractor for a timeline of the permitting process and when you can expect to begin construction. Having clear communication helps you avoid any nasty surprises and keeps you in the loop throughout the entire project.
Ask about any inspections that may be required during the construction phase. Knowing what to expect can help you plan accordingly and avoid delays.
The Construction Phase: What to Expect
Breaking Ground
Now, the exciting part begins — construction! Watch as your dream pool starts to take shape right in your backyard. This phase involves excavation, which may seem daunting, but it’s all part of the process. You might be surprised at how quickly the work progresses. Keep an open mind and enjoy the transformation taking place.
You might see heavy machinery and construction crews bustling around during this time. While it can be chaotic, seeing your vision come to life is incredibly rewarding. You may also want to consider how the construction will impact your daily routine. Communicate with your contractor about any concerns you have.
Staying Engaged
During construction, stay engaged with your swimming pool construction company. Regular check-ins can help ensure everything is going smoothly. If you have any concerns or want to make adjustments, communicate openly. Remember, this is a collaboration, and your input is valuable throughout the process!
Additionally, be prepared for some unexpected challenges. Weather can be unpredictable, and other factors may arise that affect the timeline. Flexibility and patience will go a long way during this phase.
Adding Finishing Touches
Choosing the Right Materials
As the construction wraps up, it’s time to select the finishing touches. Your contractor will guide you through choosing tiles, coping, and other materials that fit your vision. Opt for colors and textures that complement your home and outdoor space. This is where your personality shines through, so take your time making these decisions.
When selecting materials, consider not only aesthetics but also durability. High-quality materials will stand the test of time and reduce maintenance needs down the road. Don’t hesitate to ask your contractor for recommendations based on your climate and usage.
Landscaping and Accessories
Don’t forget about landscaping! Surrounding your pool with lush greenery, flowers, or decorative stones can create a picturesque setting. Consider adding accessories like loungers, umbrellas, and outdoor lighting to enhance the overall atmosphere. Your pool area should reflect your style and be a welcoming retreat for guests.
Also, think about creating different zones in your backyard. A lounge area with seating, a dining space, and maybe even a fire pit can make your outdoor space incredibly versatile. This way, you can accommodate various activities and gatherings.
Maintenance Matters
Keeping Your Pool in Shape
Congratulations! Your pool is finally complete, and you’re ready to dive in. But wait — pool ownership comes with responsibilities. Regular maintenance is key to keeping your pool sparkling and enjoyable. Depending on your needs, you can choose to handle maintenance yourself or hire a professional service.
Routine maintenance tasks include skimming leaves, checking water levels, and balancing chemicals. Understanding these basics can empower you as a pool owner and ensure you’re providing a safe environment for swimmers.
Creating a Routine
Establish a maintenance routine that works for you. This might include weekly cleaning, chemical balancing, and occasional equipment checks. Keeping your pool well-maintained not only ensures a pleasant swimming experience but also prolongs the life of your investment.
Consider investing in automated cleaning equipment or smart technology to help streamline your maintenance tasks. With the right tools, keeping your pool in shape can be more manageable and less time-consuming.
Embrace Your New Outdoor Space
Making Memories
With your stunning new pool in place, it’s time to enjoy it! Host pool parties, celebrate birthdays, or simply relax with a good book by the water. Your backyard is now an extension of your home — a place for laughter, relaxation, and unforgettable memories.
Incorporate themed events to make the most of your pool area. For example, you could host a tropical luau, complete with tiki torches and fruity cocktails. Such gatherings can create lasting memories and bring friends and family closer together.
Stay Inspired
As you spend time in your revamped outdoor space, stay inspired! Consider future projects or enhancements, like adding a hot tub, a gazebo, or even outdoor kitchen facilities. The possibilities are endless, and the beauty of a pool is that it’s just the beginning of your outdoor adventures.
Regularly refresh your space with new accessories or seasonal decorations to keep the area feeling fresh and inviting. This way, your backyard will always feel like a special retreat.
Final Thoughts
Transforming your backyard with a pool is an exciting journey that requires the right swimming pool construction company. From design and construction to maintenance and enjoyment, every step contributes to creating your dream oasis. So, take the plunge this summer — revamp your outdoor space, and make it a place where memories are made!

What it meant to "do geology" in Hutton's time was to apply lessons of textual hermeneutics usually reserved for scripture [...] to the landscape. Geology was itself textual. Rocks were marks made by invisible processes that could be deciphered. Doing geology was a kind of reading, then, which existed in a dialectical relationship with writing. In The Theory of the Earth from 1788, Hutton wrote a new history of the earth as a [...] system [...]. Only a few kilometers away from Hutton’s unconformity [the geological site at Isle of Arran in Scotland that inspired his writing], [...] stands the remains of the Shell bitumen refinery [closed since 1986] as it sinks into the Atlantic Ocean. [...] As Hutton thought, being in a place is a hermeneutic practice. [...] [T]he Shell refinery at Ardrossan is a ruin of that machine, one whose great material derangements have defined the world since Hutton. [...]
The Shell Transport and Trading Company [now the well-known global oil company] was created in the Netherlands East Indies in 1897. The company’s first oil wells and refineries were in east Borneo [...]. The oil was taken by puncturing wells into subterranean deposits of a Bornean or Sumatran landscape, and then transported into an ever-expanding global network of oil depots at ports [...] at Singapore, then Chennai, and through the Suez Canal and into the Mediterranean. [...] The oil in these networks were Bornean and Sumatran landscapes on the move. Combustion engines burnt those landscapes. Machinery was lubricated by them. They illuminated the night as candlelight. [...] The Dutch East Indies was the new land of untapped promise in that multi-polar world of capitalist competition. British and Dutch colonial prospectors scoured the forests, rivers, and coasts of Borneo [...]. Marcus Samuel, the British founder of the Shell Transport and Trading Company, as his biographer [...] put it, was “mesmerized by oil, and by the vision of commanding oil all along the line from production to distribution, from the bowels of the earth to the laps of the Orient.” [...]
---
Shell emerged from a Victorian era fascination with shells.
In the 1830s, Marcus Samuel Sr. created a seashell import business in Houndsditch, London. The shells were used for decorating the covers of curio boxes. Sometimes, the boxes also contained miniature sculptures, also made from shells, of food and foliage, hybridizing oceanic and terrestrial life forms. Wealthy shell enthusiasts would sometimes apply shells to grottos attached to their houses. As British merchant vessels expanded into east Asia after the dissolution of the East India Company’s monopoly on trade in 1833, and the establishment of ports at Singapore and Hong Kong in 1824 and 1842, the import of exotic shells expanded.
Seashells from east Asia represented the oceanic expanse of British imperialism and a way to bring distant places near, not only the horizontal networks of the empire but also its oceanic depths.
---
The fashion for shells was also about telling new histories. The presence of shells, the pecten, or scallop, was a familiar bivalve icon in cultures on the northern edge of the Mediterranean. Aphrodite, for example, was said to have emerged from a scallop shell. Minerva was associated with scallops. Niches in public buildings and fountains in the Roman empire often contained scallop motifs. St. James, the patron saint of Spain, was represented by a scallop shell [...]. The pecten motif circulated throughout medieval European coats of arms, even in Britain. In 1898, when the Gallery of Palaeontology, Comparative Anatomy, and Anthropology was opened in Paris’s Museum of Natural History - only two years after the first test well was drilled in Borneo at the Black Spot - the building’s architect, Ferdinand Dutert, ornamented the entrance with pecten shell reliefs. In effect, Dutert designed the building so that one entered through scallop shells and into the galleries where George Cuvier’s vision of the evolution of life forms was displayed [...]. But it was also a symbol for the transition between an aquatic form of life and terrestrial animals. Perhaps it is apposite that the scallop is structured by a hinge which allows its two valves to rotate. [...] Pectens also thrive in the between space of shallow coastal waters that connects land with the depths of the ocean. [...] They flourish in architectural imagery, in the mind, and as the logo of one of the largest ever fossil fuel companies. [...]
---
In the 1890s, Marcus Samuel Jr. transitioned from his father’s business selling imported seashells to petroleum.
When he adopted the name Shell Transport and Trading Company in 1897, Samuel would likely have known that the natural history of bivalves was entwined with the natural history of fossil fuels. Bivalves underwent an impressive period of diversification in the Carboniferous period, a period that was first named by William Conybeare and William Phillips in 1822 to identify coal bearing strata. In other words, the same period in earth’s history that produced the Black Spot that Samuel’s engineers were seeking to extract from Dayak land was also the period that produced the pecten shells that he named his company after. Even the black fossilized leaves that miners regularly encountered in coal seams sometimes contained fossilized bivalve shells.
The Shell logo was a materialized cosmology, or [...] a cosmogram.
Cosmograms are objects that attempt to represent the order of the cosmos; they are snapshots of what is. The pecten’s effectiveness as a cosmogram was its pivot, to hinge, between spaces and times: it brought the deep history of the earth into the present; the Black Spot with Mediterranean imaginaries of the bivalve; the subterranean space of liquid oil with the surface. The history of the earth was made legible as an energetic, even a pyrotechnical force. The pecten represented fire, illumination, and certainly, power. [...] If coal required tunnelling, smashing, and breaking the ground, petroleum was piped liquid that streamed through a drilled hole. [...] In 1899, Samuel presented a paper to the Society of Arts in which he outlined his vision of “liquid fuel.” [...] Ardrossan is a ruin of that fantasy of a free flowing fossil fuel world. [...] At Ardrossan, that liquid cosmology is disintegrating.

About Natlan characters
People who somehow twist the situation with Natlan characters and call people wanting more diverse and accurate characters racist blow my mind, so here's me answering some of the most common arguments I see.
"They're Chinese devs! Chinese prefer light skin tones"
My brother in Christ, this is called colorism (prejudice or discrimination against individuals with a dark skin tone, typically among people of the same ethnic or racial group). Yes, it is common in China. No, it isn't good or excusable. Colorism being such a thing in China explains why it is like this, it doesn't excuse the devs. Plus... you realize it's not like all Chinese people have such light skin tones, right? The problem of colorism touches various Chinese people themselves, it's all about these unachievable beauty standards. Colorism isn't a preference, it's a prejudice.
"Chinese players pay the most money and they prefer light skin tones"
i already explained why colorism isn't an excuse. Again, what you say is true but it only puts things into a perspective, it doesn't make the situation good. Plus not gonna lie, the whole idea that people other than the CN server cannot express their opinions is ridiculous to me. All players are consumers. All players add to the success of the game, whether with their own money or being free advertisement to their friends. Taking the money of all your players but only opinions of some of them is condescending and money-hungry. You don't want opinions of people from other regions - don't even have servers in them in the first place.
"They'll lose money if they make more playable characters with dark skin tones"
If they'll make them as weak as Xinyan, Dehya or Candace - yeah, people won't roll for them. If they were good in gameplay and meta, however - I'm sure people would use money to get them. And really, the argument about losing some money by a company that is worth literal billions? There are characters with light skin tones that don't sell too well, and somehow Hoyoverse didn't go bankrupt because of one or two worse banners, shocking. Lastly, do you seriously think some CEOs' paychecks are more important than people's cultures?
"All you care about is skin color, you racist!"
Nah, I care about good representation. The ones who don't allow a few darker characters are the racist and/or colorist ones.
"You want all characters to be dark, but there are people from these regions in real life who have light skin tones too, you racist!"
Yes, people from these regions have different skin tones. That's the exact reason why there should be characters that have light skin tones, a little darker skin tones, even darker skin tones... Who said we cannot have a diverse cast? Who said adding a few characters with dark(er) skin tones means removing characters with light skin tones? How does their existence invide your personal space?
"There is no Mesoamerica/Egypt/India/insert-here-another-region-or-country in Genshin, they don't have to be accurate"
Oh yes, the "have cake and eat it" argument. So they take very clear inspirations from the real world (including calling characters after deities) but in this one very specific, heavily prejudiced aspect they choose not to, you say? And they can be very faithful to the culture they take inspirations from, especially if it is their own culture, but then they act carelessly with other ones, you say? And Genshin regions inspired by Asian and European regions are based each on one country (Mondstadt - Germany, Liyue - China, Inazuma - Japan, Fountaine - France, Shneznaya - Russia) but then they merge a few different cultures with Sumeru and Natlan, you say? Interesting. Totally not because of orientalism and colorism, not at all.
"They don't want to/cannot make these characters more accurate"
Then don't make regions in your game based on specific, existing in real life regions or countries. You cannot or don't want to do them justice? Don't use them.
"You said color doesn't matter when they made The Little Mermaid black, heheh"
First of all, your memeing skills suck, I've seen one and the same unoriginal, boommer-core meme like twenty times during my small research, do better. Second, you're fighting with an enemy you've imagined. I, for example, think about the "color doesn't matter" argument as wishful thinking because, unfortunately, we live in a world where it has mattered for a long time. You create your own enemy (because let's be real, you use we vs. they thinking here) and fight with this imagination instead of actually discussing. Third, you use a manipulative technique in which you make the discussion unproductive by making it about a way bigger issue instead of the one it should be centered on: Natlan (and Sumeru) characters. Fourth, there are various historical reasons why blind casting sometimes works and sometimes not, but that's a discussion for a different time. Fifth, let's be real, you haven't watched the new Little Mermaid anyway.
"Jeez, there should just be a Chinese server/there should only be Asian servers"
Depending on who writes this argument, it's either racist, xenophopic or oikophobic because of assumption people of certain origins, nationality, race or ethinicity cause a problem as a result of their origins, nationality, race or ethinicity. And it's not like Hoyoverse had to make these servers. They wanted to. Don't act like they're victims when they literally chose to have money of players from non-Asian regions. And don't act like all people from certain servers think the same.
"Characters from desert regions are/will be darker, these characters are from (a) forest region(s)"
We certainly don't live on the same planet, cause where I live people don't get a little darker only when they live in a desert area. Look at some tribes from the Amazon Rainforest, just as an example. And even look at NPCs in Sumeru - why this flawed logic that characters living in the forest are light-skinned is applicable only to the playable characters? NPCs have more varied skin tones than the playable characters. Because colorism.
tl;dr Don't act like it's anything else than a corporation being money-hungry and colorist.

Artwork I did depicting Ursula Mires from Laughingnell's amazing fanfic WINTER OF WIDOWS, now on A03 and Spacebattles.
When she awoke to a new life in Westeros, Ursula Mires nearly did the smart thing. Only a year away from becoming sworn to the Faith as a septa and being free to live in relative comfort and safety in one of the more prestigious Reach cloisters, she was content with her lot in life. Her advice, slowly fed to her father over many years, had enabled her family to survive the Dance and rise in station. House Mires had its legacy secured, until tragedy struck early that winter. Now Ursula is heir to a floundering House she does not want, in a war-torn land that she must drag out of the mud. Many ladies are in her position in what maesters would later call ‘the winter of widows’.
Only Ursula knows what is coming next, and she’s not sure if her house will survive it.
The artwork was done on Canson hot press watercolor paper, with India ink, gouache, watercolor from a Binney & Smith set from the 1940s, and fountain pen ink (specifically Lichen and Riviera from the Birmingham pen company).

"The largest, quickest, and most devastating pandemic in all of human history was the influenza epidemic whose first of three waves began in Kansas in March 1918, and recurred in ever widening and more mortal forms in the autumn and the winter. Yet, this epidemic is distinguished from others by a second reason, the historical amnesia - a virtual blackout of memory - that has greeted it in subsequent generations. Its historian summarizes: "Nothing else - no infection, no war, no famine - has ever killed so many in as short a period. And yet it has never inspired awe."
Between 22 and 30 million people were killed in a year. Half a million of these were in the United States whose troop-ships carrying young men to the Western Front of Europe during World War I, in conditions that were floating test tubes of the virus, brought the 'flu to France, then Germany, England, and Russia, and from the European continent the virus was transmitted along the sea-lanes of European imperialism to Latin America, to West Africa, to India (where 12 million died), to China, Japan, and the Pacific islands. More were killed by the epidemic than were killed by the Civil War or World War I Which Robert Graves called "the Sausage Machine, because it was fed with men, churned out corpses, and remained firmly screwed in place."
The age specific mortality curve of the epidemic was shaped more like a 'W' than a 'U' which is to say that those in the strong middle years of life were as affected, and more so, than the very young or very old. This characteristic deeply worried the official macroparasitic institutions which relied on those in their middle years to produce, to reproduce, and to fight. To them, not so much life, as production and reproduction was the worry. Henry Cabot Lodge was concerned about the productivity of munitions plants. In March 1,000 workers at the Ford Motor Company fell sick. The number of rivets driven per day at the Philadelphia shipyards fell at a rate that alarmed the war producers. The equivalent of two combat divisions of the AEF, or the American Expeditionary Force ("Ass End First"), were incapacitated in France. 40% of U.S. Navy personnel were affected. 37 life insurance companies omitted or reduced their annual stock dividends. The macroparasites and the microparasite were thus in mortal competition for the bodies of the healthy ones in middle life, and that for another reason too. As an air-borne infection, "the rich died as readily as the poor."
(...)
500 were arrested in New York on "Spitless Sunday." Large gatherings were prohibited. Telephone booths were padlocked. Public water fountains were closed. In San Francisco face masks were required to be worn. Cash tellers were equipped with finger bowls. A municipal ordinance of Prescott, Arizona, adopted a suggestion from an obscure newspaper by the Fascist, Benito Mussolini, making it a crime to shake hands. The Army Surgeon General reported that "civilization could easily disappear from the earth."
The middle point of the 'W' grew and as a result the famous 'Lost Generation' of despairing American writers came into being, and yet with the exception of Katherine Anne Porter none wrote about the 'flu epidemic. Was this massive, social, denial? Was this male chauvinism? Was this a sequela of the disease's "profound systemic depression"? They are important, unanswered questions.
Katherine Anne Porter synthesized the times, the creation of the 'new man,' and the 'new woman.' As Prohibition loomed guys started sporting hip flasks, and the new woman took up the cigarette - alcohol and nicotine, traditional responses, since the 1790s, towards epidemics. The government-issue wristwatch became the emblem of the urban individual; it became essential to the urban-and-factory planning of the Twenties. The government drive for money (War Bonds) was the only occasion of permitted gathering, and that under the slogan "Give 'till it Hurts." Indeed, "Sacrifice" was the watchword for the soldier and the 'new' woman alike: give money, give your time, give your labor, give you life."

ok but what if blue sword/temeraire fusion?
Some timeline squishing might be involved, because blue sword is set 20 years after temeraire
plot bunnies, not all connected:
-> the gang has to travel through Damar to reach Istanbul during BPW. This is an Issue because Damarians have a bad history with a large black dragon trying to conquer the country. Temeraire is treated in Damar like Lien is in China. They are helped by a mysterious red-haired stranger
-> Tharkay has a little of the Damarian Gift and every time he has to deal with something emotionally fraught his eyes turn gold. Things tend to break when he is angry, and he has a noticeable habit of keeping his hands to himself when upset. Laurence keeps noticing the light in Tharkay's eyes the same way the British characters notice Harry's kelar.
During the fountain scene Tharkay's eyes are burning gold and Laurence either stuns Tharkay by taking the full force of them and/or Tharkay confuses Laurence by preempively apologizing for the migraine Laurence is going to have in the morning
-> or LAURENCE is Damarian and he is maternal cousins with the Crewes. His "stiff with honor" attitude is him unconsciously keeping himself from setting things on fire. Accidents can be deadly on a ship!
• Every time someone runs interference for Laurence about to say or something he regrets out of temper, it's really his friends and allies noticing his kelar acting up (whether they know about it or not) and stepping in before he accidentally makes an admiral choke on a fishbone.
(If he learns about the kelar during the series it's kind of traumatic for his identity as an Englishman. Bonus points for everyone expecting him to do a kelar assisted jump onto Temeraire's back during the amnesia arc and then not doing that.
He heals Tharkay instinctively when Tharkay is found but modern kelar is meant for war, not healing. It's the only time Laurence ever heals and it's very painful for both Laurence and Tharkay
• (Tharkay's hands are fine but he has a huge burn scar on his right forearm in the shape of Laurence's hand for the rest of his life)
• Laurence's memories are back but he feels like he's been concussed all over again
• Bonus points for the encounter with the king's madness (George's) poetically paired with the king's madness (kelar).)
• Laurence is blindsided after the war to find out that the maternal great aunt his father was kind of weird about was very important and bby cousin Angharad dropped a mountain on an army is now queen of a foreign country. He won't admit it but he's briefly very annoyed that Richard abandoned his post.
Laurence is running hot during the dinner party in Black Power War, and people can't look him in the eye. Tharkay’s first impression of this British aviator having dinner with these holier-than-thou East India Company peacocks isn’t just the Chinese coat and impeccable manners even when drunk and pissed off (doesn't someone with the Damarian Gift know not to get drunk? Is he a fool or an idiot?) —it’s the blue eyes flashing gold to almost literally pin Tharkay in place.
‐> no timeline squishing at all and we substitute Damarian dragons for the Damarian horses. Imagine if Tsornin and Isfahel could talk! Red Wind is Harry's first mentor.
• The legends of Aerin fire-hair are of Aerin and the elderly dragon Talat defeating the tyrant dragon Maur.
• The laprun trials are held in the air, and are almost more about the dragon's right to bear arms than the rider. Dragons ALSO wear sashes, and it's considered bad form in the trials to damage the other dragon's rider or the rider's harness --the trials are a test of skill and self control.
Tsornin is ALSO jealous of Narknon and keeps threatening to eat her. Narknon does not care at all.

Autobiography of a Pen
Almost all autobiographies of men are written with a pen. Then why should I not write an autobiography of myself?
I feel confused about ascertaining the date or period of my origin. Primitive men used some implements to carve on stones or on the barks of trees to express their feelings. But that was only in a crude form. Thousands of years and centuries passed. Some say I was first used in a somewhat refined form, made of papyrus, in ancient Egypt. Others say my oldest form can be traced back to ancient India or ancient China.
Later, I was developed in various forms. In the medieval period, I took different forms in different countries. Various types were developed in manifold ways in the modern period. You know—the bottom part of some birds' feathers or twigs of bamboo was used as a pen for writing with ink from an inkpot at one time. Then I evolved into the fountain pen with a pointed nib, carrying ink within my womb. That was a golden age of my history. Many famous persons used me in that form. Some of them regarded me as their prized possession. Some companies had brand names such as 'Parker,' 'Pelikan,' 'Sheaffer,' or 'Mont Blanc' and were proud of their creations. That age too has almost disappeared. Now, I have appeared as a ballpoint pen—both cheap and costly, but not as expensive as the valuable fountain pens.
However, most reasonably, I can boast of making contributions to developing civilization and culture, including different branches of knowledge such as literature and science.
Mankind can say that they have used me to express their feelings and thoughts in different forms of writing, including prose, poems, novels, short stories, essays, history, geography, philosophy, scriptures, physics, chemistry, mathematics, etc. In fact, I am the writing tool in their hands. I have no power or wishes of my own. Yet, I can brag that humanity could not write anything except through my existence. Now, in a broader sense, my latest form is printing in print media or electronic media.
In politics too, I hold great power. I play a vital role in forming public opinion. I am responsible for many ups and downs of so many empires and governments. It is said, "A newspaper is the people's parliament." Napoleon used to say, "Four hostile newspapers are more to be feared than a thousand bayonets."
And so, it is rightly said, "The pen is mightier than the sword."
