I hate posting from conservative sites. But they are the only ones covering this shit.
A North Carolina community college is looking to "revise campus policies" after coming under fire last week for a video showing a drag queen straddling a female student sitting in a chair during an LGBTQ+ pride event on campus.
Critics say Winston-Salem area Forsyth Technical Community College, which offers two on-campus high school programs allowing students as young as 14 to enroll beginning in the ninth grade, poses larger concerns over minors being exposed to sexually explicit behavior.
Alex Nester of Parents Defending Education ripped the incident Sunday on "Fox News Live," invoking overarching concerns over what's going on in America's education system and asking anchor Mike Emanuel, "Where are the adults?"
"As we saw in that video, a drag queen touched a child inappropriately. It raises the question: What policies need to be reconsidered at this school to protect children from adults touching them inappropriately? That's shameful that there are adults standing there in the room and no one is doing anything," she said.
The video, initially posted by the infamous Libs of TikTok Twitter account, showed the drag queen straddling the female student and tacked on an article discussing how the campus' Pride Festival "lured" students with "free food and drinks."
Emanuel asked Nester during their discussion, "What about teaching the basics?"
"Students are really far behind after the pandemic, unfortunately," Nester responded, a dilemma she alleged stemmed from teachers' unions pushing to keep schools closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Students are struggling academically and emotionally and yet, what does this college do? Put on a pride event and have a drag queen there for students."
In a statement, the college defended the event, writing, "These students, like all college students, are open to attend any student event. Forsyth Tech is committed to being a place of promise for our students. In order to fulfill that promise, we have clearly spelled out our mission, vision and equity statements."
Similar controversies preceded the incident at Forsyth Technical, with parents raising concerns over school districts across the U.S. hosting drag queen story hours and similar events and offering reading materials and instruction that are not age-appropriate.

A man straddled a school girl at a school event while the adults who should have protected her pat themselves on the back instead of getting him away from her.
A new viral video shows a drag queen straddling a young girl during an LGBTQ pride event at a North Carolina school that enrolls students as young as 14.
A video obtained by Libs of TikTok showed multiple adults laughing and watching a drag performer appearing to give a lap dance to a student at Forsyth Technical Community College last Wednesday.
The public college has two on-campus high school programs that begin enrollment in ninth grade. Photos posted by the school’s official Instagram account showed drag queens posing with young girls.
The school told Libs of TikTok that the event was open to students of all ages.
Tumblr media
"These students, like all college students, are open to attend any student event," the school said. "Forsyth Tech is committed to being a place of promise for our students. In order to fulfill that promise, we have clearly spelled out our mission, vision and equity statements."
Promotional materials for the 2023 Pride Festival, which was held at a restaurant on campus, advertised four drag queens, a "drag performance" and "free food, drinks, music & activities."

Of course Fox News would be the only media outlet I could find that was reporting on this.

OC asks: 3, 11, 21, 36, 50, & 92
I love that you are always ready to assist me in procrastination, what would I do without you?
3. What is the meaning behind their name? Do they have any nicknames? Jinx’s nickname being Jinx stems from sharing her full name with her grandmother. Virginia Louise Holliday I, also known as Ginny, is a witchy old woman who lives at the border of Riverdale/Greendale in a small house where she feeds a ton of stray cats. She has a rocking chair on her front porch, and sometimes sits there with a shot gun that she once threatened Grandpa Forsythe with because he was being a drunk menace to her husband. Her daughter, Gwen, decided to name her own daughter after her mother because her mother has big 70′s second wave feminism energy and even though she can be a bit... chaotic, she’s still a wonderful woman. But Ginny was taken as a nickname, and so she went with Jinxie (which became shortened to Jinx as she got older) instead. Jughead calls her Jinxie when he’s being deliberately and over the top patronizing. He calls her Virginia when he wants to get on her nerves. And her girlfriend, Bernie, calls her Jinxie (affectionate). Matt is just... he’s an every day guy, you know? Played football in high school. Wanted to be an actor. Lost his dad in a robbery and decided to become a cop for ~Good~ and ~Noble~ reasons but is disillusioned with the reality of it. Every Matt I’ve ever known has been a good guy, if not a little messy, and just trying to make it work and that’s Matt Turner in a nutshell. 11. If they could make a mark on history, what would they like it to be?
Jinx is funny because even though she’s a musician, she actually hates being like... the center of people’s attention. She gets very uncomfortable when people are complimentary of her, but I mean... also, she wouldn’t hate leaving a legacy like Freddie Mercury’s behind either. 60,000 people all singing along to one of her songs in unison at a festival 30 years after her death? Yes please. Matt is more interested in doing what he can to dismantle gross police work from the inside. He is very aware of the ACAB principle (and tbf, that’s also my position so Matt is like... what I WISH cops were? Without being copaganda?), but also, he’s on the inside so he might as well do what he can to actually help. He just loves the community he lives in, and wants to make it better. It’s not a great neighborhood, but he tries to offer an alternative to calling the police to people that he knows or recognizes as coming through the station before. I mean, it’s still technically calling the police, but if he can diffuse a situation without it having to go on the books? He’d rather do it that way. He could be a community activist in another world, but he just wants to be a good example of what community policing could and should be like.
21. What is their favorite thing about their personality?
Jinx is fiercely loyal to the people she cares about because there’s like... a small handful of them. She is 100% the girl you call when you need something because she just has no compunction about doing whatever needs to be done, as long as it’s for one of her people. She will take secrets to the grave. Trust is a VERY important thing for her because of a horrible past relationship, and she treats it with the utmost respect.
For Matt, it’s his personality. He thinks he’s hilarious... to varying degrees of delusion. He will take things seriously when he needs to, but he is the first one to try and bring levity to the situation. A bit of a goofball, but he just really enjoys making people laugh.
36. What is their sense of humor like? Give an example of a joke they would find humorous. Jinx is a riffer. She’s not much of a ‘let me tell you a joke’ sort of person, but she loves to banter off the cuff, and her and Jug can and will just say stupid shit to each other for hours. Basically, I think of Jug, Jinx, and their cat Mingus as a wholesome Team Rocket from Pokemon, and Jinx fully embraces that. That being said, she has a really TERRIBLE sense of humor. Like, bad jokes are her bread and butter. Like a “What do they call Pringles in Spanish. Prespañol~” bad.
Matt, on the other hand, is genuinely hilarious in that sort of goofballish way and Veronica is constantly laughing at the stuff he says or does. He once found her Monica Posh wig in her closet and put it on immediately, coming out and inventing a whole new alias for himself after she explained Monica Posh to him. When he’s actually telling jokes though instead of just being kind of an idiot, one of his favorites (that he never tells around Veronica because she is both Catholic and Lawyer-to-be in my universe) is as follows: A man and a woman meet in Heaven. They fall in love, and eventually decide that they want to get married. So they go to God and they say “God, we have fallen in love and we want to be married.” So God says to them, okay, let me see what I can do.” A few months later, he finds the couple and says, “okay, I can allow you to get married now.” So they marry. Then, a couple years down the line, they’re fighting a lot. They just can’t reconcile their differences, so they go back to God, and they say “God, we really can’t stand each other any more, and we want to get divorced.” God, displeased, says “It took me four months to find a priest in this joint. How long do you think it’ll take me to find a lawyer?” *insert buh dum tiss here* 50. How would you describe their style of clothing? How would they describe their style of clothing?
Jinx describes her overall aesthetic as Trash Panda chic. A lot of ripped jeans, her doc martens, tank tops, lots of layered jewelry, fishnets and flannel, big Snooki bump. She loves a good vest. Lots of black, and with winged liner sharp enough to stab someone with. She claims the reason her eyebrow raising game is so strong is because it had to do the heavy lifting of an ill-conceived eyebrow ring in high school, which she does not have anymore. It’s a little punk, a little hipstery, but mostly she just looks like she rolled out of a laundry basket... which is usually how she goes about her day.
Matt goes for farmer’s market hot. Good jeans, not too ripped but definitely well worn. Henley. A flannel over top if it’s cool out. He loves a good sweater. In the summer, unless he’s working, it’s a tshirt and jeans. V-necks, usually. For lounging around the house, it’s 100% boxers and his bathrobe while he eats colorful sugary cereal out of a giant jethro sized bowl and watches Saturday college football (he roots for Georgia since he’s originally from Atlanta, and Veronica laments that she has a type: Bulldog football players who just want to be do-gooders).
92. Describe them as a John Mulaney gif.

Not ready for a pandemic to end?
My life changed on July 2nd of 2018, I started this job with a credit union and had just enrolled to begin my associates degree, I found myself at a peak in life, working somewhere I loved, with people I liked, and had genuine connections with. The next year and a half were, nothing short of amazing, and then, it was almost like a horror movie played out before my eyes.
On March 11th 2020, the World Health Organization announced the Novel Coronavirus a global pandemic, in the very beginning, there was an overwhelming amount of uncertainty and doubt about just how strange and fatal the virus was. Grocery stores were practically barren as people rushed to stock pile on food, toilet paper, and disinfectant. Schools, libraries, restaurants, venues, malls, practically everything was closed and shut down for almost three whole months while everyone quarantined at home and entertained themselves on… unique documentaries, such as Tiger King, okay mostly Tiger King. However, I, in the last couple semesters of my associates degree at Forsyth Technical Community College, continued going to work every day (socially distanced of course). Truliant Federal Credit Union (where I have been employed in the Member Contact Center since July of 2018) sent anyone who could work remotely, home. Those of us on the phones stayed in the office or were across the building. Now I have to admit that when the pandemic begun, I, much like everyone else, was quite anxious about the next couple months, and was especially careful to avoid falling ill. The idea that all meetings and classes were being moved online was quite stressful to regular students, however, this switch to an online school format was routine for me. I had been taking exclusively online classes at Forsyth for the past 6 months and adjusted rather quickly. Suddenly, I found time to study and work on projects where I had not before. Having meetings and doctors’ appointments digitally, only benefitted me more, since I did not have to drive all over Winston Salem and could be home at a decent time so I could study. I did this and even connected with old friends and extended family thanks to the increased use of platforms like Zoom, WhatsApp and Skype.
So maybe the pandemic had not changed everything quite as dramatically as I thought it would…
Other than increased feelings of worry and anxiety, I was doing well in these first early months of the pandemic, I was in my final semester at Forsyth Tech when one day in June of 2020, I felt warm and noticed that my cheeks were very red, I had also noticed that all of a sudden, I had lost my sense of smell and taste. On June 19th I had been officially diagnosed with COVID-19 and took a 10-day quarantine per CDC guidelines. After the first initial days of general illness, I took up working on final projects during my quarantine and eventually graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College in July of 2020. I continued working full time and by this time had been accepted as a transfer student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Communication Studies. Some areas of life had begun to reopen and life was slowly gaining some degree of normalcy again. Classes for the most part still remained online, I had gotten into a routine that worked well for me, I got up and went to work in the mornings, worked all day long until 5:45 pm, got home at 6:00 pm, had dinners, worked out a bit and got started on class at 7:30 pm to about 10:30pm and then went to bed. I would even have some time to work on some school work during lunches and breaks at work, so I was feeling quite confident in my abilities of juggling UNC Greensboro’s classes and work just as I had been before, so confident in fact that I had decided that I would declare not one, but two minors in addition to my Communication Studies major, I was now going to be seeing Psychology and Spanish in the Spring. Since there was still only speculation of when a COVID vaccine would be approved for human use, I thought I had plenty of time before having to worry about face-to-face classes.
Well, I was wrong…
In December of 2020, finishing the fall (and my first) semester, the United Kingdom announced that it had approved Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine for use, and the vaccines would soon be distributed for the elderly and health care workers across the U.K. Soon enough the U.S would follow suit and approve the Pfitzer and Moderna vaccines. Okay, I thought, surely it will take a long time before I or anyone close in age could be vaccinated, right? I was wrong again. Just yesterday I got an email from UNCG stating that residents on campus could get vaccinated starting on March 24th, and while that is amazing news and I am more than excited at the idea of normal life and travel, this also means that my classes will be moving to a face-to-face format again. This announcement lined up quite well with the release of the Fall 2021 schedule for classes and for the first time in a year, I was met with a conflicting schedule. Most of the classes that I need to take are all on campus, in Greensboro, during the day, and I work in Winston-Salem, from 8:45 am to 5:45 pm. So, what now? Well, any logical person would say, just change your schedule at work! And while I am fortunate enough that Truliant has been incredibly supportive and willing to work with my schedule in the past, I only have so much wiggle room I could possibly ask for. 3 out of the 4 classes I will be taking have meeting times, and 2 of them are on campus, both more than an hour long and 30 minutes both ways from work, so now I am in a position where I am just not quite sure what to do. Being so close to the finish line (rising senior) but also being content with my job to the point where I see myself staying with the company for many, many years. There is always the option to work part-time for Truliant (which is actually how I started with them) but there is of course no guarantee that there will be a full-time position available as soon as I am done with school. In conclusion, I am ready for normal life to return, however, it would be beneficial to some of us, if universities and colleges, kept the online option for classes.

Once Upon a Time in Lancashire
At moments of dramatic social and cultural change a reflection on the past, or, better put, a past reimagined and romanticized, often offers a path of cathartic escape. Such was the case as Great Britain was transforming rapidly under the effects of modernization during the nineteenth century. The expansion of global communications and transportation, acceleration of industrialization, instability in financial markets, and unregulated encroachment of cities into natural environments all instilled a sense of vertigo among members of British society. By the middle of the century a feeling spread among artists and intellectuals that solutions to the social ills brought about by their present and notably modern moment could be discovered in the past.
For the artists of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and cultural critics such as John Ruskin, the medieval era presented a model of social cohesion lost in the modern world.[1] These artists looked to the dignity found in the artisanal labor of medieval guide workers and held up the Gothic cathedral as an example of the power of artistic, as well as social, collaboration. This longing for a past—one decidedly idealized—held sway over generations of British artists and designers until World War I.
This historical yearning is exemplified by this vase produced by the Lancashire-based Pilkington’s Tile and Pottery Company. Painted by Gordon Mitchell Forsyth, the vase is decorated with the heraldic symbols, such as the lion, that call back to England’s feudal history and Arthurian legends.[2] Yet what makes this vase distinctly modern is Forsyth’s anachronistic blending of allusions to medieval Britain with the shimmering iridescence of the vase’s lustreware glazes—a decorative pairing that would not have been found on British ceramics during the medieval period. Lustreware was first developed by glassmakers in either Egypt or Syria in the eight century.[3] The glistening lustre surface was created by the introduction of metal oxides that would produce the dazzling optical effects when fired (a subject addressed in a past Cooper Hewitt exhibition, Iridescence). A fascination with the technique spread throughout Europe and the United States during the nineteenth century as archeological excavations uncovered numerous examples of iridescent pottery and glass throughout the Islamic world.
The psychedelic effect produced by lustre surfaces stimulated fantasies of a past romantic age filled with mystery and magic and free from the scientific obsessions of the nineteenth century. Pilkington’s Tile and Pottery Company responded to this trend, particularly after viewing the range of iridescent objects put on display at the 1900 Paris World’s Fair by the likes of Tiffany Studios or the French potter, Clément Massier. Ironically, the lustre surface of this vase was the product of intense scientific experimentation. Since its founding, Pilkington’s operation relied on advances in chemistry and technical analysis to create its products. The company employed William Burton—originally a chemist at Josiah Wedgwood & Sons—early on as a manager. Later, Burton brought on Abraham Lomax, an armature chemist, who would go on to create the glazes for a line of pottery he labeled “Lancastrian,” to which this particular vase belongs.[4] With its painted decoration and creative use of lustre glazes, this vase provides a magnificent example of the tensions between past and present being explored at the turn of the twentieth century.
