12 Jyotirlingas in Shiva Purana:- In the Kotirudra Samhita of Shiva Purana, 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva have been described in detail. This very ancient 12 Jyotirlinga form of Shivling is the abode of Lord Shiva. The worship of 12 Jyotirlingas has a special significance in Sanatan Dharma. Following are the names of these 12 Jyotirlingas.

1) Somnath Jyotirlinga Located in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat, this Jyotirlinga is considered to be the oldest and the first Jyotirlinga of the earth. According to Shiva Purana, Somnath Jyotirlinga has been established by Chandradev himself.

2) Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga This Jyotirlinga is situated on the banks of river Krishna in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India on a mountain named Srisailam.

3) Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga This Jyotirlinga is located in Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh. This is the only Jyotirlinga facing south. The Bhasmari of Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is famous all over the world.

4) Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is located in the Malwa region near Indore in Madhya Pradesh. The shape of Om is formed here due to the mountain and river flowing around this Jyotirlinga.

5) Kedarnath Jyotirlinga This Jyotirlinga is located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand state on the Kedar peak of the Himalayas.

6) Bhimashankar Jyotirling This Jyotirlinga is situated on a mountain called Sahyadri near Pune in Maharashtra.

7) Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirling This Jyotirlinga is located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. This Jyotirlinga is also known as Vishweshwar.

8 ) Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga This Jyotirlinga is located in the Nashik district of Maharashtra state. This is a mountain named Brahmagiri near the Jyotirlinga. The Godavari river originates from the Brahmagiri mountain.

9) Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga This Jyotirlinga is located near Santhal Pargana of Jharkhand state. This Vaidyanath Dham of Lord Shiva has been called Chitabhoomi.

10) Nageshwar Jyotirling This Jyotirlinga is located in the Dwarka region of Gujarat.

11) Rameshwaram Jyotirlinga This Jyotirlinga is located in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. This Jyotirlinga was made by Lord Shri Ram himself with his own hands.

12) Ghrishneshwar Temple Jyotirlinga This Jyotirlinga is located near Daulatabad in Maharashtra. This is the last Jyotirlinga among the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.

Yo, so, this is what Diademi used to look like before the beginning of the Old War

As you can see there were a LOT more countries beforehand & a ton of them were wiped out & absorbed into other kingdoms. And the countries that we know of as large today were quite small before.

On the western continent, Tempete & Zedessa were the fucking beef cake countries. 1st & 2nd largest ruling kingdoms in the world & we can see why. Camellia, Vlaqinn, & Dahlia weren't THAT small, but like compared to their nextdoor neighbors, they might as well have been thumbtack sized.

Back in the ye old as fuck days, Agrazia was still a kingdom, before all different kinds of internal strife just made everyone watch the dumpster fire happen from afar. Lamor & Lirenth hadn't yet joined together to form the single nation of Lyttona, they do so after watching their neighbors, the Pigdeon Kingdom, get swallowed up by Zedessa at the beginning years of the war very easily.

On the eastern continent, Jailiam just like barely changes at all. And it is the biggest plot of land in the world at the time. Ignis's claim of land can be seen now, & combined with their naive island, it is the 3rd largest kingdom in the world. Hollie is a kingdom again during this time & a beefy one that hold candle to the Lareryth Empire, of whom is now much much smaller, but still quite sizeable compared to others. Hollie, the Salvlia Empire & the Bovilmandia Empire stand as Lareryth's Rivals during this time. Chrysan is still the smallest kingdom in the world even all the way back then, & hides in Bovilmandia's shadow, the only reason the Bovilmandia's don't destroy Chrysan, is because the smaller kingdom often provides royal spouses to the larger one, & the Queen of Chrysan is most often a Bovilmandian Bride, which made them more then happy. The Salvlia Empire mostly operated on slave work, from mundane tasks, to even having slave fighters in their military. The Slave workers didn't last very long, as at least half of those slaves defected to Lareryth when they were promised freedom if they helped overrun their masters.

The other three smallest kingdoms, Yador, Duzstan & Austa, find their safety with each other. The small guys got to look out for themselves after all, but it mattered very little with Lareryth turned it's full attention to conquering them, as the combined might of all three kingdoms couldn't match the hulk that was the Lareryth Empire. Asterlon & Rosazira were rivals of each other through out pretty much their entire livelyhoods, so much so that Rosazira refused to ask for help from Asterlon when the Lareryths came to conquer them. As we know now, it was a bad move on their part. The four kingdoms around the giant lake(called The Lake of Four), Asterlon, Indore, Kotsapa & Palsia, all shared an alliance between themselves, & would meet on the small island in the center of it(which was deemed neutral territory) to discuses their ideals & would often send brides & grooms to marry into each other's royal families. The alliance came to break when both Nodiba, Ignis & the Lareryth Empire pressed on the lands of the four kingdoms at once, forcing them all to fend for themselves. Herene was an island nation with heavy allyship with Palsia & Asterlon, & when their allies were attack, they briefly began to prepare to aid them, but decided against it when they saw the losing battle it was. Lareryth choose to conquer them as well after hearing they had such plots & were easily overrun. Wargley & Thyme were two kingdoms that kept to themselves & such remained so when the war began. Though they knew the Lareryth Empire would come for them, they choose to combat them the same way they combated everything else: one their own. Thyme was the first to fall, & Wargley followed years later, but both kingdoms put up very impressive fights, more impressive then other small kingdoms of their size.

A cold draft flowed through the Church as Richard huddled on one of the hard wooden benches, trying to shield himself from the chill. It was a stark contrast to the fiery scene he had woken up to in the middle of the night. He could hear the priest speaking in hushed tones with some nuns in his office, their words filtering through the drafty hall.

"Verily, he has naught else, Father," the nun insisted, her voice beseeching. "Though our abode be cramped, yet surely a child as diminutive as he could find a place. And he is a diligent lad, always eager to assist with the chores about our humble abode."

Richard hugged his legs closer to his chest, his mind swirling with fear and uncertainty. He remembered the first time he had seen one of the nuns, their distinctive wing-like hats had frightened him. His mother had held him close, warning him not to show any fear of the people of the church. She had hinted at dangers that he couldn't fully comprehend at his young age.

"Tis indeed suspicious," spoke the priest, his voice measured and cautious, carefully choosing his words. "They were but recent members of our congregation, barely a month in our midst. Doth it not strike anyone as peculiar that they made arrangements for the lad's care in case of their demise? 'Tis as if they had foreseen their fate."

"Verily, it is as if they foresaw the tragedy," one of the nuns exclaimed, her voice rising in agitation before she quickly lowered it to a hushed tone. "Dost thou propose to cast aside this child, to leave him to the streets? He is but a small, helpless lad."

There was a tense silence, and Richard could feel the weight of the impending decision. He knew what was coming, and he didn't want to hear it. The priest slowly opened the door and approached Richard, sitting down next to him with a heavy sigh.

"Richard," the priest spoke his name in a soft tone, tinged with sorrow. "I bear thee some unfortunate tidings."

Richard remained silent, keeping his face buried in his knees, gripping them tightly as he braced himself for the words he already knew were coming.

"I'm afraid there hath been an accident," the priest continued, his voice laced with gentleness. "The fire from which we rescued thee... thy parents did not survive." The priest laid a consoling hand upon Richard's back, the warmth seeping through the meager fabric of his clothes. "Thou shalt stay with us now. There are other boys here, like thee, who lack a place to call their own. Thou shall work and assist around the church, but it is better than..." The priest's words trailed off, unable to complete his sentence, the unsaid sorrow palpable in the air.

Unable to contain his grief any longer, Richard threw himself into the priest's arms, sobbing uncontrollably. He heard the priest's comforting words, but they felt distant and surreal. It was all too much to bear, and he couldn't bring himself to believe that his parents were truly gone. "I want my mother," he cried, tears streaming down his face, his heart heavy with loss and sorrow.

The priest held him tight, offering what little comfort he could in that moment. Richard knew his life had changed forever, and he was overwhelmed with fear and uncertainty about the future. Little did he know that this was just the beginning of the pain he would have to Indore.

I went a bit lighter for the dark headcanons because I recently posted a really intense piece about Aerin (to ao3 not here) and it took a lot out of me…I still had some dark ones but I’ll compile a few more really dark ones later

I did most of these for Aerin, im going to make a separate post for Morwen, but I did include a couple for her tooo

Happy HCs (all my happy HCs for Aerin inevitably make me sad because most of them involve things she loses either completely or mostly, post Nírnaeth)

-Aerin learned to swim in the deeper pools of Nen Lalaith. She loves the water and is a strong swimmer. She also loved to watch the minnows and other tiny fish dart through the stream. When she was little she would take longer and longer walks trying to reach the source of the stream. When she got older and was able to ride longer distances she eventually got there, taking a three day trip with Húrin and another one of their cousins. It’s one of her happiest memories

-Aerin is one or two centimeters taller than Húrin and was absolutely delighted when this happened, when she was fourteen and him a couple years older. I headcanon that Indor was one of Galdor’s liege lords and one of his most trusted kinsmen and their children grew up close.)

-When Húrin was home him and Morwen would often spend evenings in the day room of their house. They would read or work on individual projects or they would play a chess like game. Sometimes they would have long debates. These peaceful evenings she almost felt completely at home.

Dark HCs (post Nírnaeth Aerin related warnings)

-Every time Aerin is punished for helping Morwen or some other transgression it makes the next time harder. She still does but it takes so much out of her to the point where leaving the house becomes panic inducing.

-Aerin is so grateful she never has children. She could not bear to bring someone else into this. And it brings her a grim satisfaction that Brodda will have no heir, no legacy, something the Narn specifically says he wanted and which was part of his reasons for what he did (I actually have a separate post about this, if you’re interested, that goes into my thoughts about this and why and the significance and the different possibilities)

-No matter how much Aerin may hate and fear Brodda, she has to know him on such a personal level; she has to learn his habits and moods and preferences because she has to, the alternative is dangerous. This is definitely something I want to work more with but the effect it has on her is profound. Just thinking about the level of very unwanted casual familiarity and closeness(?) unsure of wording here

-It gets to Morwen, knowing that some people want to violently hurt her because in their minds that would make them powerful because they’ve decided you’re a scary witch and that if they tried, there’s very little she can do to defend herself or Niënor. Even when she’s in Doriath, that fear never fully leaves her

-Morwen will never admit this but she has had a fear of fire since the Bragollach. Lighting candles is usually fine, lighting a contained fire in the hearth gets easier over time. But when she can feel smoke in her lungs and feel the heat of the flames? It can be panic inducing. Of course as this is Morwen her panic tends to show as her being sharper and more brusque with others or isolating.

Rían on the other hand has a morbid fascination with fire.

On a semi related note I headcanon that several Hadorian festivals include bonfires including the celebration for the new year as I think I’ve talked about. Morwen is displeased by this.

Railway Board Sets Up Committee Holds Meeting To Ascertain Why Drivers Violate Speed Restrictions

New Delhi, June 16: The Railway Board has set up a committee to find out the reasons for the violation of speed restrictions by train drivers at various points between originating and destination stations which is detrimental to safe train operations.According to sources, the Board came into action after recent incidents in which two train drivers violated the speed restriction of 20 kmph at a river bridge, which was under maintenance and drove their trains at 120 kmph speed.In the first incident, the loco pilot and assistant loco pilot of the Gatiman Express, India’s first semi-high-speed train which runs at 160 kmph speed between Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi and Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Junction in Uttar Pradesh, violated the advisory speed restriction between Jajau and Mania railway station near Agra Cantt.Just a couple of days after the Gatiman incident, the drivers of another train Malwa Express, which runs between Katra (Jammu) and Indore (Madhya Pradesh), too committed a similar violation at the same spot and steered the train at 120 kmph.Soon after these incidents, the Railway Board on June 3 issued a circular to all zones and informed, “Railway Board has constituted a committee to review the caution orders being issued to Loco Pilots and Train Managers (guards).”“The committee desires to interact with Loco Pilots through video conference to understand the issues related to caution orders at the field level,” the circular added, asking all zones to nominate loco pilots from each division to attend a meeting on June 5.“Over 180 loco pilots and loco inspectors took part in the meeting and came out with various suggestions to ensure that speed restrictions are followed in letter and spirit,” said a loco pilot, who was part of the virtual meeting.The Railways imposes speed restrictions for the safe operation of the trains for various reasons such as track condition, ongoing track repair work, old railway bridges and station yard remodelling etc.The Railway officials say that before boarding the engine, the loco pilots and their assistants obtain a complete route chart along with advisories and cautionary speed limits from the concerned operating department and they are supposed to maintain the speed accordingly.During operation, the assistant driver calls out loudly these advisories and cautions and the driver repeats it to confirm.“In the meeting, various suggestions came, For instance, a section of drivers suggested that a train guard should remind a driver on a walkie-talkie 3 km before the starting point of the speed restriction. This practice is being followed by the guards of Kota division and a request was made to make it applicable across the board in Railways,” said another loco pilot, who attended the meeting.“Some drivers wanted the caution order to be given on bold letters with bigger font size on A4 size white paper. They also said that drivers should be issued different colour highlighters to mark the restrictions for their convenience,” he added.The participants also said that it was also discussed in the meeting whether permanent speed restriction (PSR) should also be made a part of the caution order.“Normally only temporary caution orders are given to the drivers on a paper sheet but a suggestion was made that PSR should also be mentioned,” said a loco pilot.“The committee will look into these suggestions and deliberate upon other means to decide if there is a need to amend the operation norms concerning speed restrictions in the interest of safe train operations,” said a source in the Railway Board.
