Top 8 Benefits of Hiring Financial Advisors
Possessing knowledge of finance is essential, especially when you are a business owner and can’t expect to succeed in business. If you think having finance knowledge is necessary only for the rich, then it is not valid, as everyone can benefit. Financial advice can help you protect and build your assets and prove helpful in deciding about putting your money into investments.
You will know that investments are best to secure the long-term future of yourself and your family. Being from a non-commerce background, you can only expect to go a short way in handling your finances because there are chances of getting failed, and even you can end up losing money. The solution here is to look for financial advice which will work in your favour.
Let’s talk about the Top Benefits of Financial Advice :-
Protection of Family
2. Plan for Retirement
When discussing retirement, it is pretty early to plan your retirement. However, it is good to prepare for your retirement because you no longer have an income to pay for your regular expenses when you retire. When you contact a financial advisor, you will learn that it is vital to plan for your retirement and help you build a portfolio to achieve your long-term life goals.
3. Learn How to Spend and Save
The most important benefit of financial advice is learning how to spend your money so that you don’t have to look to others for funds. All the good financial advisors will tell you to build a savings buffer to deal with emergencies. They will guide you through creating some assets that will be useful when planning an out-of-the-box holiday trip. Financial advisors will suggest where to invest your money and build your wealth based on your income.
4.Let You Know the Right Combination of Assets
You already know that building a savings buffer and investment is best to achieve your long-term goals. However, you still need clarification to decide how much to invest so your routine budget doesn’t hurt. Initially, when you hear about investment, you fall for high returns and invest all your money without looking at the risks and end up losing your money, which builds a lousy reputation of investment in your mind.
But it is not the case because high returns are often associated with increased risk, and getting advice from a financial advisor is the best thing you can do. It will help you understand the risk and teach you how to invest your money.
5. Help You Meet Your Investment Goals
You aim for many goals in your life, but later some of those goals. It is better to start in the direction of achieving those goals only after getting financial advice from a financial advisor who will better assess your goals. The plans may include investment goals. They will tell you what is realistically possible and guide you toward achieving those realistic goals.
6. Guide You to Buy a House in Your Income
Every individual on this planet wishes to have a house of their own, but the complication of the mortgage market makes those individuals worried. Most people drop the idea of buying a home of their own, and they find it the most expensive decision as they need a mortgage. In this situation, a financial advisor’s advice could save money, assess the best rates to buy a home, and find lenders to pay for your house.
7. Save Money
When you plan to save or invest, you need to look at taxes because you will have to pay taxes on your income from savings and investments. The fundamental trick you use is to move the assets to your spouse or children; however, sometimes, you need help. Here, your financial advisor can guide you in the right direction and get you out of complicated situations.
8. Access Your Objectives
Sometimes you aim for a goal as you get attracted by its hype, but the product may need to be right for you, and investing in the product can make you suffer losses. Here, you can take the help of a financial advisor who will provide information on how that particular product will work in the market and its downsides. They assess your objectives and guide you on whether your aim is correct.
We hope that this post is helpful.

Caribbean Citizenship by Investment Tops New 2019 CBI Index Yet Again | Dominica, Saint Kitts, Grenada, Saint Lucia
Caribbean Citizenship by Investment Tops New 2019 CBI Index Yet Again, FT Publication Shows
LONDON, Aug. 20, 2019 — The Financial Times’ Professional Wealth Management (PWM) magazine has published the newest edition of the CBI Index. The special report is at its third anniversary and ranks all the active citizenship by investment (CBI) programmes around the world against seven pillars deemed most important to investors seeking second citizenship.
2019 CBI Index – A Guide to Global Citizenship – www.cbiindex.com
A total of 13 countries were examined in this year’s study, carried out by independent researcher James McKay: Antigua and Barbuda, Austria, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Cyprus, Dominica, Grenada, Jordan, Malta, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, Turkey, and Vanuatu. Overall, the central industry trends of transparency, experience, and enhanced security saw the Caribbeannations carry their success from past years into 2019, outperforming their peers in five out of seven pillars.
Dominica emerged once more as the country with the world’s best citizenship by investment programme, combining extensive due diligence with efficiency, speed, affordability, and reliability. St Kitts and Nevis maintained its upward trajectory regarding visa-free and visa-on-arrival offering and demonstrated its commitment to enhanced due diligence. Grenada also increased emphasis on programme due diligence but benefited most from its improved citizenship timeline. St Lucia surpassed Antigua and Barbuda for the first time, the southern island improving its scores under freedom of movement, citizenship timeline and due diligence.
Demand for Caribbean citizenship continues to grow, as high net worth individuals’ needs are shifting. “A lot of Middle Easterners don’t want to come to the US, just as Europeans don’t want to come to the UK anymore because of Brexit,” according to the CEO of a major global private bank. Some critics imply that CBI applicants are largely migrating individuals who have broken strict exchange controls at home, but the private banker explains that most clients from politically volatile jurisdictions such as those in the Middle East and Africa are seeking CBI as a plan C or D in case of an “escalation of insecurity or an outright war.”
PWM Editor Yuri Bender says that “wealthy individuals and their families seek second citizenship for a number of reasons, while the benefits for nations offering CBI schemes can be considerable.” Indeed, from the host country’s perspective, transparency and accountability of CBI funds took centre stage this year. The 2019 CBI Index notes that the countries that demonstrated how native citizens are benefitting from CBI receipts inspired more trust and appeal among investors.
In 2019, the CBI Index also provided a platform for tax and legal experts to discuss the distinction between citizenship and the duty to pay tax. Specialists from Ernst & Young, Smith and Williamson, and Queen’s Counsel Balraj Bhatiaunanimously agreed that citizenship and residency confer different sets of rights and obligations on individuals. FACT Due Diligence CEO, Kieron Sharp, details why “thorough due diligence is the cornerstone of the citizenship by investment industry,” beyond the obvious reputational and security implications.
The full 2019 CBI Index report is now available for free download on www.cbiindex.com .
About the CBI INDEX
The CBI Index is a comprehensive study into all active, government legislated citizenship by investment (CBI) programmes in the world. Published annually by the Professional Wealth Management magazine – a publication from the Financial Times, it offers individuals and entities a practical guide to the different CBI programmes and their comparative strengths. Since its first edition in 2017, the CBI Index has become the industry’s most reliable and user-friendly independent source of information on today’s programmes, the key issues shaping investor interest, and the future direction of citizenship by investment.

030: Surviving A Scooter Accident In Grenada (With Nora Dunn)
What Would You Do If..
while riding on the back of a scooter in Grenada? An SUV swerves into your lane and hits you head-on.
About The Guest
Nora has travelled full-time for 12 years and continues to travel half the year. She’s lived in and travelled through 60+ countries and counting. She is an expert on travel, personal finance (as a former CFP), and lifestyle design and has coined the term financially sustainable travel. It’s not about budget travel (though she’s done a bunch of that), nor is it about being environmentally sustainable (though she’s a big advocate of that too). It’s about making money successfully, spending money smartly, and managing it wisely – all in the arena of lifestyle travel. These three pillars form the foundation of her website.

Get Paid To Travel: 11 Jobs That Pay You to Explore
Want to get paid to travel the world, but don’t think it’s possible? Feel like it’s just a pipe dream? Think again! We’re proof that if you put your mind to it, you too will be able to get paid to travel.
Every week, our inbox is flooded with emails from readers who want to travel, but don’t have the means to do so. Or, they want to travel and have some savings, but need to learn how to make money online, get paid to write online or find travel jobs while they’re on the road.
People always ask us how we get paid to travel. Let me tell you, there are many many jobs you can do that involve travelling and making money. In fact, we just took a 1 month digital detox while visiting Canada and our income was higher than the month before!
In this post, I’m going to list 11 great jobs that pay you to travel.
But first, I think it’s important to have a bit of a nest egg before you take off actually figure out how to get paid to travel. It doesn’t need to be a huge amount of money, but something to fall back on while you’re searching for jobs.
(Want to get straight into the good stuff? Click here to jump to the ways you can get paid to travel)
Getting paid to plot new trekking routes in Kyrgyzstan – ya, that was pretty amazing!
How We Saved Money For Travel
In the beginning, we didn’t even consider getting paid to travel. In fact, we didn’t really know it was possible. All we wanted to do was quit our jobs, leave Canada behind and fly to Southeast Asia and the Subcontinent to experience a year of complete freedom.
We saved up as much money as we could and sold our possessions – including our condominium, vehicle and electronics. After saving and selling, we were able to come up with $40,000.
That year abroad was life changing and eye-opening.
Meeting people from all walks of life, and learning about their culture, religion and lifestyle was something that we were completely enthralled with. We wanted more. The travel bug had a grip on us and we needed to figure out a way to get paid to travel — it was our new-found passion and calling in life.
Going back to working in an office and a plant simply wasn’t an option.
Travelling through India was one of our most memorable experiences
Sadly, at the time we didn’t realize we could get paid to travel. In fact, we thought the only way to make money was to go back to Canada and work again. So, we sucked it up and returned home to our same jobs for one final year.
We were completely different people, with one goal in mind: SAVE MONEY TO TRAVEL. Before you head off on a trip and figure out ways to get paid to travel, I recommend having some savings in the bank.
Here are the top 5 ways we’ve been able to save money for travel, plus, you can use these money saving tips:
We rented out our spare bedroom to a friend. Having a “third wheel” in the house wasn’t great, but hey, it was an additional $800 / month.
We worked overtime shifts and took on second jobs. Nick picked up as many extra hours at work as he could, and I took on a second job. I was able to earn money from home in the evenings and weekends.
We put ourselves on a budget. We each had $50 / month to spend on entertainment. This included dinners out, date nights, buying coffee, anything that wasn’t a “necessity” was considered entertainment. It’s amazing how far $50 went when we would stop and think about whether or not we actually needed the item we were considering buying.
Downsizing and consolidating. We cut our internet, cable and cell phone bills back to the very basic amount. Nick sold his expensive car and purchased a cheaper one. I walked to work instead of purchasing a transit pass. We sold things that we didn’t need anymore, including furniture, extra set of tires, extra TV, etc. I didn’t get my hair done at the salon, or purchase any new clothing.
Selling our possessions and payouts from work. If we didn’t take our vacation pay at work, or our sick days, those would be paid out at the end of the year in cash. So, we didn’t take any holidays while saving, and since we rarely get sick, we had lots of those days too. We also sold Nick’s vehicle and my condominium before taking off to travel the world.
We aren’t trust fund babies, and we didn’t receive any money from our families. We just set a goal for ourselves and made saving money for travel a top priority. If you don’t think you’re able to save enough money to travel, there are also plenty of ways to travel when you have no money.
The condominium that I sold to have money for travel
Get Paid To Travel With These 11 Jobs
1. Public Speaking
As bloggers, we’ve been to many conferences around the world, and were even invited to speak at one. Whether in the travel space or not, if you are knowledgable on a particular topic (business, finance, tech, fitness, etc.), then there will be a conference or event for you.
Friends of ours make a great income by being invited as keynote speakers to various events around the world.
Many times, once the conference is over (keeping in mind, you’ve been flown there to speak, put up in a swanky hotel, provided all food and earned a salary), there will be a tour or a trip to nearby cities in the country.
This is a great way to get paid to travel.
Think about subjects that you’re an expert in, research conferences around the world, and apply to be a speaker. The best way is to use Google for this. If you want to speak in New York about your expertise in travel blogging, search “travel blogging conference in New York”, or “travel conference in New York”.
Nick speaking on the subject of travel bloggers working with brands at the World Tourism Forum in Istanbul
2. Travel Blogging (or fashion, food, mommy, tech, etc.)
One day, when our trip was coming to an end and our funds were running low, I read an article from a fellow travel blogger that stated he earned around $3,000 a month from travel blogging.
WHAT?!
At that time, we were travelling on a budget – around $50/day for both of us. That $3,000 was more than double what we needed for a month of travel. That was all the inspiration we needed. We learned how start a travel blog within a couple of days of reading that article.
This is by far our favourite way to get paid to travel. It took a couple of years, but since we were investing time and energy into something we loved, it didn’t feel like work – and still doesn’t. We live and work from anywhere in the world that has a wi-fi signal.
We’ve blogged from cafes in Rome, Bali and Guanajuato, and rented apartments to work from home in Guatemala, Grenada, Thailand and Argentina.
Our office on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala – not bad!
There are numerous ways to make money from a travel blog, but here are the top 5 ways we get paid to travel through our website:
Affiliate Marketing. When someone purchases a product or service that we recommend, we earn a commission. If you purchase travel insurance, book a hotel, rent a car, buy a product on Amazon, etc. we make some money from that company.
Content Creation & Social Media Management. Our team helps other websites by creating content (articles) for them, and managing their social media accounts – such as Pinterest and Facebook.
Advertising through Mediavine. Once you receive 25,000 page views on your website, you can be earning around $400/month just for having relevant ads placed on your site. The more page views you have, the more money you can earn. Goats On The Road currently has 350,000 page views a month and even though we have many ads turned off, we still earn around $2,500 / month from MediaVine ads.
Media and Product Sales. You create a product and sell it to your readers. Whether it’s an ebook, a course or t-shirts, this is a great way to get paid to travel through your blog.
Press Trips. Once your website has a decent amount of traffic, or you have a strong social media brand, you’ll start to get contacted by tourism boards, hotels and tour companies who will invite you on a trip to review their company / city. Destination Marketing is a fun way to meet new people, explore new places and get paid to travel.
Considering starting a travel blog, fashion blog, mommy blog, food blog…any type of blog?! Right now we’re offering our Pro Blogging ebook, Beginner Blogger Course and access to our Private Facebook Group all for free when you start a blog through this link.
UPDATE NOVEMBER 2019: If you want to go pro with your blog, then I recommend checking out our Free SEO Training Video. It’s nearly an hour long and will show you the exact steps we use to grow our traffic. Don’t miss it! It won’t be free forever.

3. Brand Ambassador
If you become an ambassador for a particular company, you will literally be paid to travel in order to create content for them.
They’re generally looking for you to use their product or service, and then write about it and/or share it on your social media accounts. Oftentimes they want you to go to a particular destination to create a video around a certain topic (while of course, tying in their brand).
Our friend Rachel is a brand Ambassador for Afar Magazine and is sent on various stints around the world to discover and explore, then report back. Well-known clothing and travel brands offer similar jobs – such as Gadventures, Kathmandu, REI, etc.
If there’s a brand or product that you resonate with, reach out to them and see if they’re looking for Ambassadors. Long-term ambassadorship programs (ie: 1 year or more) can pay around $10,000 – $20,000 / project.
Of course you’ll have to offer them deliverables in return. Typically there will be an agreed upon amount of content that you will have to share per month – a video, exposure on your social accounts or a post on your blog.
You’ll get paid by the company, travel around using their product / service, and in turn their brand will be seen by thousands of your followers. It’s a win-win!
Looking for remote work? There are numerous companies online, but not all are legitimate. Check out FlexJobs who list jobs in over 50 career categories – all of which have been handpicked and screened. Sign up for FlexJobs today and use promo code NOMAD to save up to 30% off. Or, click here to learn more about this company.
4. Teaching English Jobs
While we were getting Goats On The Road up and running, we needed to earn an income. Our savings were dwindling and we had to figure out how to get paid to travel – asap.
UPDATE 2019: If you’re from the USA or Canada, why not teach English online from anywhere in the world with VIPKID? This company is one of the most used and trusted online schools for both teachers and students and it pays upwards of $22 USD / hour. Not bad!
When we started searching online for teaching jobs in China, we were overwhelmed with the amount of schools available. The problem was, when we did Google searches for reviews of the schools, the results were almost always that they were a scam.
Thankfully we didn’t get too discouraged and eventually, we came across Shane English School and ended up signing a 1 year teaching contract with them. We would be earning $1,500 a month each, while receiving free accommodation, Mandarin lessons, health insurance and bonuses.
We had our travel costs covered as well! They flew us to China, and then onwards to Mongolia at the end of the contract. Plus, we only worked 20 hours / week, which gave us plenty of time to grow Goats On The Road.
During the year, we had many days off which allowed to explore the surrounding cities some more. You can easily travel to nearby countries as well — such as Japan, Korea, Thailand, etc.
Are you considering teaching English in China? Right now, that same school that we taught fore are looking to hire more teachers. They’ve upped the pay as well and teachers will earn $2,600 USD / month, plus accommodation, travel etc. Amazing! Click here to learn more and to apply.
Me with some of my awesome students in China
Once your contract is up, you can apply to teach English in Japan, Mexico, Spain, Thailand, etc. Getting paid to travel as an English teacher is a job we highly recommend.
5. Social Media Influencer
Basically, you use your online influence to showcase a destination or a product. You’ll need to build up your social accounts (in particular, Instagram or YouTube) so that you have the numbers and the reach that companies are looking for.
Many social media influencers are paid big dollars by tourism boards, travel brands, and other companies to promote them.
You’ll often see an Instagrammer with a huge following posing with a particular product and tagging that company – that’s being a social media influencer. That company will pay him/her big bucks to travel to exotic destinations and pose with the product.
The influencer above was on a campaign with us in Chicago. She was paid by the Chicago Tourism Board to promote the city to her followers…but, she is also an ambassador for Swatch. So, as you can see, due to her social media influence, she was being paid to travel and promote a product!
Similarly, influencers will be invited by tourism boards of a city or country to spend a week or so experiencing all that the region has to offer, and will expect you to showcase the destination to your readers.
Accommodation, food, tours and flights will be included and you’ll receive a salary on top of this as well. Depending on the press trip, you’ll need to provide “deliverables” in the form of social media shares, YouTube videos or blog posts.
We’ve been paid to travel with tourism boards from Malta, Chicago, Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia and more.

6. Work On a Cruise Ship
If you like ships, travelling and people, working on a cruise ship might just be the best way for you to get paid to travel. You’ll cruise from port to port, and have an opportunity to check out the new destinations.
You’ll be paid a good salary ($1,800+ / month), plus free accommodation and travel. If you have no bills and are working on a cruise ship, you’re literally getting paid to travel around the world! For our fully detailed article, have a look at How To Find Cruise Ship Jobs – The Ultimate Guide.

7. Yacht / Sailboat Delivery Work
If you like to sail and want to earn money, working as crew aboard a boat could be the perfect gig for you. As with being a cruise ship worker, you’ll literally get paid to travel. Companies and yacht owners oftentimes need someone to bring their boat from point A to point B while they are out of country.
For example: someone’s boat is being serviced in the British Virgin Islands, and they need it returned to where they are in England because they want to set off on a Mediterranean adventure. Maybe the owners don’t want to sail across the Atlantic, or they simply have other pressing plans. You would be onboard with a crew to bring that boat safely to the UK.
Typically, these are 1-way trips and you’ll be paid a daily fee, food on board, and a plane ticket back to the home dock / city that you came from. Sailing experience is preferred, but not always required. Click here to learn about the positions available.
Another way to get paid to travel is to actually work on a yacht. Rather than delivering the boat, you could be a crew member! To learn more about yacht jobs available around the world, and how to apply for them, click here.
Like to sail? Consider delivering sailboats or yachts to various ports!
8. Run Your Own Travel Tours or Become a Guide
If you consider yourself a seasoned traveller, and know a destination quite well, you might want to consider setting up your own tours. Pick a niche for your tour and run with it.
Will it be photography? Adventure? Luxury? Food?
We know many travel bloggers who have diversified their income streams to include running their own small group tours to places like Peru, Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan. It’s a lot of work to put the tours together, but they can be quite lucrative.
Further, if you are certified or have a certain skill set, consider becoming a tour guide. If you know the history and architecture of the city you’re living in, start a walking tour. Are you a pro kayaker, surfer, cyclist? Maybe think about becoming an independent guide, or at least, working with an already established company.
This is one of the best ways to get paid to travel. The kayak guide in the photo below is from Ireland, but was working in Malta before moving on to her next job somewhere else in the world. She loved her job and said it was such a great way to get paid to travel around the world.
Nick and our kayak guide, exploring a cave in Malta
9. Freelance Writing / Journalism
If you don’t want to start a blog and work for yourself, you can opt to become a freelance writer or journalist (or, do both). Many online and in print publications will pay you to write an article for them. Think about what you specialize in and start pitching companies. Who knows, within a few weeks, you could get paid to write online.
As with travel blogging, the beauty of this job is the location independence it affords. Work in your pyjamas from anywhere in the world.
Some of the bigger publications (National Geographic, New York Times, etc.) will literally send you out on a job. For example, journalists and writers might be invited to report on the opening of new hotels in various destinations, unique festivals in a region, or to experience the culinary scene.
When we first started trying to figure out how to get paid to travel, we reached out to numerous publications in the finance, lifestyle and travel industries and got ourselves quite a few gigs.
**We’ve recently partnered up with Solid Gigs. This company manually searches through over 100 freelance job boards and sends you the best 1% to your inbox on Tuesdays. Use promo code GOATS2 to get your first month for just $2. Click here for details.

10. Teach English Online
If you’re a native English speaker, this is an excellent way to supplement any job, or have it as your full-time job. You can teach English to students all around the world, but the most popular company (for North Americans) is VIPKid who have Chinese students. You don’t actually have to move to China to teach Chinese kids, amazing!
With this job, you can work from anywhere, and get paid to travel. We know people who teach English online from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and from Spain. This job gives you the freedom to move around, and not be tied to one place for an extended period of time – unless you want to be.

11. Become a Virtual Assistant / Social Media Pro
There are so many online businesses these days, and with that comes opportunity for assistant work. We personally have a staff of 4 virtual assistants who help us with everything from building up our Pinterest account to editing articles for our website.
If you’re good at social media and know how to build engagement and a following, you can reach out to online businesses and see if they need your help. Many influencers need assistance with editing videos for YouTube, working on their SEO (search engine optimization), or marketing themselves and reaching out to potential partner companies.
There are numerous tasks a virtual assistant can do. Pay depends on your skill level and the tasks at hand, but for basic tasks you can expect around $7.50 – $50+ / hour.
Depending on the company, there might be opportunity to literally get paid to travel as well. We’ve sent our assistants on trips to New Hampshire and Beijing on our behalf, and some businesses hold meet-ups with their staff in various places around the world. Find virtual assistant jobs here.
12. Bonus! Work On a Vineyard / Farm
This job doesn’t actually pay you to travel, but I think it’s a great job for those who love to travel. In various places in the world, you can find jobs picking fruit, working on a farm, or picking grapes on a vineyard. These jobs are great because you get to work outside, meet new people and earn a decent wage as well.
Plus, since they’re seasonal, you can work in the southern hemisphere for part of the year, then move north. Find yourself exploring Canada, then head south to experience New Zealand!
If you’re interested in wine, working as a grape harvester is an excellent way to learn about the industry – who knows what sort of opportunities might arise.
For those who are interested in agriculture and farming, there are lots of skills you can learn by surrounding yourself with experts in the field. There are numerous volunteer jobs, but for paid work, check out Backdoor Jobs. I found farming jobs for $275/week plus room and board.

Love wine? How about working on a vineyard – a great way to get paid to travel!
Final Thoughts and Recommended Resources
If you’re planning on working online, I highly recommend basing yourself (or travelling) in a region where your home currency (or the currency you will be earning) will go further.
For example, if you’re making $1,000 / month, that money will last a lot longer if you spend time in Mexico, Thailand, Bolivia or Greece, as opposed to the UK, Canada, USA, or the Caribbean.
Consider living somewhere with a low-cost of living until you start earning more money. Our friend and author, Tim Leffel has written an ebook titled: A Better Life For Half The Price and I highly recommend grabbing yourself a copy.

Getting paid to travel to Chicago and attend food festivals was pretty amazing! You can too if you become an Influencer or Blogger!
If you’re wondering how to find cheap apartments and hotels around the world, click here. We typically use Airbnb, local Facebook Groups and sometimes, Booking.com.
Many of the ways to get paid to travel that I listed above include accommodation, but if they don’t, I recommend spending some time in one spot to help save money when you’re starting out — you can cook for yourself, and you’ll receive discounts on longer stays.
Another option, if you’re considering online work as a way to get paid to travel, is to try house sitting and pet sitting. While these jobs don’t typically pay you, it’s a great way to live like a local and immerse yourself into the destinations you visit.
In exchange for taking care of someone’s home and/or pets, you’ll receive free accommodation and use of their vehicle. We’ve house and pet sat in Grenada, Barbados and Costa Rica, and loved it.
Most of all, I think it’s important to take risks and follow your passion. Don’t decide to become a social media guru if you don’t like Facebook and Instagram. Don’t think you’re going to make thousands of dollars by being a motivational speaker if you hate public speaking. Don’t plan to start tours if you don’t really like being around groups of people. You get the point.
Living in Canggu Bali – a place with a very low-cost of living
If you do what you love, it won’t feel like work. There are many travel jobs out there, but for us, we love travel, being with one another, and sharing our journey with others. Blogging is definitely our favourite way to get paid to travel, and if you love photography, writing, connecting with others, and social media, then I recommend you start a blog too.
Hopefully this list gave you some inspiration for ways to save money at home, and how to get paid to explore. As I said above, there are numerous ways to get paid for travel, all you need to do is make the conscious decision for a change and go for it. Good luck!

A Payday Loan amount typically ranges from $100 to $300 in California. It is a short-term Loan and needs to be completely paid in under 31 days. Payday Loans rely upon specific income for their repayments (such as your next paycheck or a pending tax refund). On the other hand, an Auto Title Loans is designed to give much larger Loan amounts (thousands of dollars) and could be paid back over a longer time frame (usually 12 to 36 months). In other words, a Payday Loan can be viewed as a temporary fix, whereas an Auto Title Loans is designed to fulfill your longer financial needs.

Rebuilding the Caribbean will be pricey, but some are actually vying to finance its recovery
http://bit.ly/2A2k0tv
If Caribbean governments can't afford to rebuild their islands, maybe big tech firms can?
November 20 marked the end of the Atlantic hurricane season, but for the Caribbean, it’s only the beginning of a painful recovery process.
In early September, Hurricane Irma largely destroyed Barbuda and several neighboring Lesser Antilles islands. Two weeks later, Maria took a final fatal stab at Barbuda and entirely knocked out Puerto Rico.
According to The Economist, damage from Irma alone tallies up to US$13 billion. Totals for the entire 2017 hurricane season remain unclear, but Puerto Rico Gov. Roberto Rosello’s recent request for $94.4 billion in aid gives some sense of Maria’s toll.
No matter the final price tag, recovery is sure to be unpayable in a region where 30 percent of people live in poverty and the per capita gross domestic product averages under $9,000 a year, versus $57,000 in the United States.
And while France, Holland and the United Kingdom have come to the assistance of their territories in the region, independent Caribbean nations like Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, and Cuba have no such obvious sponsors. Their economies shattered by storms – and, in some cases, shackled by debt – some Caribbean nations fear they may never recover.
But behind the scenes, numerous international players are actually racing to rebuild the Caribbean, from tech companies and wealthy individuals to far-flung countries.
‘Send Tesla’
Big corporations see an opportunity in the Caribbean’s recovery. Tesla, in particular, seems to have a vision for how the region could rebuild in a more renewable and resilient way.
As an energy and environment researcher, I’m certain that renewables would make Caribbean islands better able to withstand future storm impacts. Whether Tesla can achieve that is another question.
The California-based electric-car company has committed to sending to the island hundreds of its Powerwall battery systems, which could be paired with solar panels to get the electric grid up and running again.
For the millions of Puerto Ricans whose power has been out for over two months, this may come as welcome news. And though some experts have questioned how much it would really help, Tesla did manage to turn the lights on at the San Juan Children’s Hospital back in October.
Puerto Rico isn’t the only Caribbean country with an inadequate energy grid. Across the region, outmoded system designs that rely on a few plants for power production make complete blackouts much higher than grid systems that have an even distribution of power generation.
So even before Irma, Tesla had long seen the Caribbean as a nexus for its energy revolution, with talk of using electric-vehicle batteries to store renewable energy. The idea is that vehicles can charge during the day when the sun is high and winds are stronger, and then owners can sell excess electricity back to the grid when demand is high but supplies are much lower.
Tesla’s desire to power the Caribbean reflects a global energy race as tech companies – among them Samsung and LG – expand their international reach.
The benevolent among us
The British business magnate Sir Richard Branson, who owns a 30-hectare private island in the British Virgin Islands, has also long advocated that the Caribbean should shift to clean energy.
The 2017 hurricane season catalyzed this ambition. After Irma, Branson suggested that rich countries fund a “Caribbean Marshall Plan” to help islands move beyond fossil fuels toward low-carbon renewable energy sources like solar and wind.
Hurricane Irma left the solar-powered system on his Necker Island, located roughly nine miles from the ravaged Tortola, relatively intact.
Branson isn’t the only international celebrity with a personal stake in rebuilding the Caribbean region. The actor Robert De Niro has also sought to pitch in.
In September, he said he was “saddened to learn of the devastation in Barbuda,” and called on financial institutions and governments to band together and rebuild the demolished island, where De Niro had hoped to build a $200 million resort.
Two months later, Barbuda remains uninhabitable, with nearly its entire population having evacuated to neighboring Antigua and elsewhere. Locals wonder whether Barbuda will ever be home to anyone again, much less the paradise tourist destination De Niro once envisioned.
The ‘soft’ grip of China
For China, the crisis in the Caribbean is an opportunity to expand its influence in an area where it already has deep historic and economic ties.
China’s influence in the Caribbean dates back to Cuba’s 1959 revolution, when communism bound the two nations. Back then, China ignored the U.S. economic embargo to help Cuba after a 1963 hurricane.
This economic superpower also came to the assistance of Grenada in 2004, after more than 90 percent of the island was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan. The 351 housing units China promised to build for those left homeless by the storm opened in late 2012.
Today, China is reported to have offered aid to Cuba after Hurricane Irma. It has also committed $5 million for the United Nations Development Program to assist the Caribbean’s storm recovery.
China’s interest in the Caribbean goes beyond disaster aid. During his 2013 visit to Trinidad and Tobago, President Xi Jinping reportedly promised Caribbean nations a total of $3 billion in loans.
His country has also financed infrastructure and industrial projects across the region. In Jamaica, Chinese state money built the $600 million, 42-mile “Beijing Highway” connecting Kingston to the tourist hub of Ocho Rios. China has also invested $3 billion in Jamaican alumina plants.
This brand of economic diplomacy, which Beijing has also deployed in Africa and Pakistan, for instance, powerfully strengthens China’s international influence. The U.S. knows that, and is keeping a close eye on Chinese incursions into its maritime backyard.
Weighing the costs
Caribbean governments must now weigh the pros and cons of these different offers. On the one hand, these countries are so devastated that they simply cannot recover without help.
On the other, I’d suggest it’s risky to cede control over your territory by allowing foreign agents to finance rebuilding. China’s project funding in African has been dubbed “neocolonialism,” because while the country studiously avoids political meddling, its money shapes national development to reflect Chinese interests.
Inaction, however, is not an option. A dozen Caribbean countries were hit hard by hurricanes this year, and climate change promises to keep bringing rising seas and stronger, more frequent storms.
Rebuilding smarter is thus a priority for Caribbean nations, all of which signed the Paris Agreement. That 2015 accord pushes wealthier industrialized nations to commit more money to building resilience, but Europe has shown little willingness to comply with that provision and the U.S is abandoning the entire deal.
Are China, Tesla and Robert De Niro the answer? If the Caribbean can’t save itself, who will?

More Investors Attracted to Caribbean Citizenships, New CBI Index Shows | Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada,St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia,
LONDON, August 22, 2018 —
Caribbean nations lead today’s growing citizenship by investment industry, with Dominica’s programme crowned best in the world for the second year running in the latest special report by FT publication, PWM.
Professional Wealth Management (PWM) – a publication from the Financial Times – released the 2018 CBI Index today, ranking the world’s active citizenship by investment (CBI) programmes. The special report notes that the expanding industry attracts more investors seeking greater mobility and business opportunities, often prompted by shifting global economic and political tensions.
The 2018 CBI Index Results. For a detailed breakdown, please refer to the full report, available for free download at www.cbiindex.com (CBI Index)
Of all 13 CBI jurisdictions worldwide, Dominica spearheads the industry, scoring perfect marks in five of the seven pillars against which each programme is evaluated. Four fellow Caribbean nations follow shortly, with CBI pioneer St Kitts and Nevis as a strong contender. The programmes assessed in this year’s CBI Index include those offered by Antigua and Barbuda, Austria, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Cyprus, Dominica, Grenada, Jordan, Malta, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, Turkey, and Vanuatu.
PWM notes that more investors worldwide – especially from China, Russia, and, increasingly, the Middle East and Africa – are attracted to the notion of obtaining dual nationality. This trend is predicted to grow among global families affected by socio-political instability in their home countries, or international businesspersons seeking expanded visa-free travel and business opportunities.
The CBI Index measures seven areas, or pillars: Due Diligence, Freedom of Movement, Standard of Living, Minimum Investment Outlay, Ease of Processing, Citizenship Timeline, and Mandatory Travel or Residence. Independent researcher and architect of the CBI Index, James McKay, considers these the most critical elements of an investor’s decision-making process when choosing their second citizenship. McKay explains the relevance of the study for the investor immigration industry: “The CBI Index is rapidly becoming the leading tool for investors to accurately measure the performance and appeal of global citizenship by investment programmes.”
Across the special report, emphasis is placed on due diligence – the security and vetting procedures involved in each CBI programme which ensure that morally questionable characters are excluded. The 2018 CBI Index highlights the due diligence process as a key component in differentiating the programmes. Heyrick Bond Gunning, CEO of due diligence experts S-RM, concludes that it, “Should be a staple of all CBI programmes that aspire to success and durability.”
Echoing the 2017 CBI Index results, Dominica remains the world’s best economic citizenship jurisdiction due to maintained high levels of timeliness and simplicity in process, an affordable investment threshold, and a robust due diligence framework. This result is a testament to the small Caribbean nation’s CBI programme successfully withstanding the challenges presented by last year’s hurricane season. Moreover, their latest Styrofoam and plastic ban initiative announcement earned Dominica widespread international accolades for being a responsible part of a Global Community – the exact mindset that guides the country’s leading CBI programme. Dominica further serves as a commendable example of how CBI funds can be used to improve the lives of its citizens, such as the recently announced construction of 5,000 new homes, financed entirely by the CBI programme.
Ranked second in the 2018 CBI Index, the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis improved its performance in the areas of Minimum Investment Outlay (affordability) and Freedom of Movement. The latter is an asset the country invests in continuously, as St Kitts and Nevis passport holders can travel visa-free to over 150 countries and territories. The Federation’s programme adopted a lower investment threshold with the inception of the highly popular temporary Hurricane Relief Fund option. It continues to offer what is considered by many the Platinum Standard in the industry with the Sustainable Growth Fund – a new government funding method intended to assist in developing social and economic initiatives in St Kitts and Nevis.
Post-Brexit debates have raised awareness of the value of one’s citizenship and the certainty – or lack thereof – that it may hold. “Freedom of movement is becoming a key factor as immigration policies are getting more restrictive,” confirms Selby du Pasquier, head of Geneva lawyers Lenz & Staehelin.

About the CBI INDEXThe CBI Index is the world’s only comprehensive study into the jurisdictions that offer citizenship by investment. The ranking system is designed to measure the performance and appeal of all active, government legislated, citizenship by investment programmes by using seven key indicators. Its purpose is to provide a rigorous and systematic mechanism for assessing citizenship programmes, and to facilitate the decision-making process for individuals considering them. The CBI Index is an independent special annual report, first published in 2017 by Professional Wealth Management – a publication from the Financial Times.

Speech: UK Statement to the 61st General Conference of the IAEA
Madame President, Excellencies, and distinguished guests,
The United Kingdom associates itself with the statement made by the distinguished representative of Estonia on behalf of the European Union.
I would like to congratulate you, Madame President, on your election as President of the 61st General Conference, and thank the IAEA for its hard work in organising this event.
I would also like to express the gratitude of the United Kingdom for the leadership of Director General Amano, and thank him for his distinguished service during his second term in office. The UK looks forward to continuing our collaboration with him and the Agency to secure the future of civil nuclear energy and applications.
The United Kingdom welcomes the application for membership of the Agency by Grenada.
UK priorities
Madame President,
Following the government’s announcement of its intention to leave the Euratom Treaty, I would like to affirm the UK’s continuing strong support for the civil nuclear industry, for the highest standards of nuclear safety, security and safeguards, for the development of peaceful applications of nuclear technology, and for the IAEA’s central role in achieving these goals.
In that spirit, I would like to highlight some of the UK’s key objectives for the year ahead:
To continue our commitment to civil nuclear energy both in the UK and internationally;
To maintain robust nuclear safety, security, emergency preparedness and response, and safeguards regimes, and support their implementation; and,
To promote the peaceful uses of new and existing civil nuclear technologies around the world, while ensuring an effective international nuclear non-proliferation regime.
Democratic People’s Republic of Korea
Mdm President, before I discuss in detail the UK’s objectives, I would like to make a statement on recent developments in North Korea.
The UK calls again on North Korea to halt its nuclear and missile development programme. The recent nuclear weapon test is reckless and poses an unacceptable further threat to international peace and security. The international community has universally condemned this test and must come together to continue to increase the pressure on North Korea’s leaders to stop their destabilising actions. North Korea must resume compliance with its safeguards agreement and cooperation with the Agency, and abandon its nuclear programme in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner.
Civil Nuclear in the UK and Internationally
Madame President,
Nuclear currently provides around 25% of the UK’s electricity needs. In the coming decades many of our existing plants will reach the end of their operational lives, while the demand for low-carbon energy increases. New nuclear will have a key role to play in the years ahead, and there are many opportunities to be found in this sector in the UK.
Hinkley Point C, our first new nuclear plant for over 20 years, will provide 3.2 gigawatts of secure, low-carbon electricity for 60 years, meeting around 7% of the UK’s energy needs. EDF have made excellent progress; in March this year the first concrete was poured for the power station galleries. The first reactor is due to come online in 2025, and the second the following year.
We are committed to maintaining the UK’s status as a world leader in nuclear research and development, and to sustaining and developing our existing international collaboration in this field. We will maintain and build on our world-leading fusion expertise, and seek continued participation in international fusion projects such as the Joint European Torus (JET) project at Culham, and the ITER project in France. Furthermore, we recognise the potential of Small Modular Reactors for producing low-carbon energy, whether small versions of conventional technologies, or next generation reactors.
The UK remains open for business, and ideally placed to continue supporting opportunities across the civil nuclear fuel cycle.
Safety & Security
Madame President,
Safety
The UK remains proactive and transparent in fulfilling our obligations, and sharing expertise, to strengthen nuclear safety and radioactive waste management. We are an active Contracting Party to the Convention on Nuclear Safety (CNS) and the Joint Convention, and look forward to engaging fully with the Joint Convention process next year. We are pleased that this year’s CNS Review Meeting had the highest participation levels to date, and identified a number of cross cutting safety issues, which should be tackled as a priority by Member States, supported by the IAEA.
In April we welcomed an Operational Safety Review Team (OSART) follow-up mission to Sizewell B, to assess the facility’s adherence to international standards of best practice, and have planned another mission to Torness in 2018. The UK government looks forward to receiving the findings from these missions and is committed to transparency on the outcomes, ensuring public confidence in our ability to safely deliver nuclear energy. We encourage all Member States to host OSART missions.
Emergency Preparedness and Response
The government is committed to maintaining the highest standards of emergency preparedness and response arrangements. The UK is reflecting the latest standards from Euratom and the IAEA in our domestic regime, as part of our commitment to continuous improvement.
Security
The UK strongly supports the central role of the IAEA in promoting robust nuclear security regimes and assisting in their implementation. We contributed a further £8.5m this year to the Nuclear Security Fund in support of these activities, and UK experts have supported International Physical Protection Advisory Service (IPPAS) missions. We encourage other Member States to provide funds and expertise to support the Agency’s nuclear security work.
We congratulate the Agency on its successful Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Security last December, and look forward to the outputs of that Conference being applied, to help address current and emerging security challenges.
We continue work with the Agency to assist States in their capabilities to respond to nuclear security events, and to develop the effectiveness of the International Nuclear Security Advisory Service (INSServ). We encourage continued coordination between the Agency and other international bodies, such as the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (GICNT) and INTERPOL, to deliver training and exercises.
This year the UK Office for Nuclear Regulation launched a new regulatory framework: the Security Assessment Principles. This outcomes-based framework enables industry to design security solutions which align with their business needs. This will increase security competence within the civil nuclear sector, and place greater emphasis on protecting against emerging threats such as cyber.
Non-Proliferation Safeguards
Madame President,
The global safeguards regime is central to the peaceful use of nuclear technologies, and the UK supports the IAEA in its efforts to strengthen, and verify compliance with, safeguards obligations. The UK welcomes the continued development of State-level safeguards approaches.
We call on all States that have not yet done so to ratify Comprehensive Safeguards Agreements and Additional Protocols, to ensure their universalisation. As part of preparations for EU Exit, the UK is establishing a domestic nuclear safeguards regime which will deliver to existing Euratom standards. This will ensure that the IAEA retains its right to inspect all civil nuclear facilities, and will continue to receive all current safeguards reporting, ensuring that international verification of our safeguards activity continues to be robust.
Technical Cooperation
The UK remains a strong supporter of the IAEA’s Technical Cooperation Programme. It is my pleasure to pledge more than €3.6m to the Technical Cooperation Fund, continuing our record of paying our voluntary contributions on time and in full, and we encourage other Member States to do so.
We congratulate the Secretariat on the success of the recent International Conference on the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme, and welcome its continued implementation of the Results-Based Management approach. We encourage the Secretariat and Member States to assess project outcomes, and implement lessons learned.
Non-Proliferation Treaty
The UK is committed to the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty as the cornerstone of the global nuclear non-proliferation architecture and the essential foundation for the pursuit of nuclear disarmament and the peaceful use of nuclear energy, and we recognise the IAEA’s vital role in support of the Treaty. The first Preparatory Committee for the 2020 Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty Review Conference in May this year put us on a sound footing for the remainder of the cycle, and we look forward to a constructive PrepCom in 2018. Iran
We welcome the Director General’s reporting that confirms that Iran is adhering to its nuclear-related commitments as outlined in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. It is important for all parties to the Plan of Action to implement the agreement fully. Iran’s continued co-operation with the Agency is required, and Member States should assist with continued financial support for the Agency’s monitoring and verification activities.
Syria
In light of the Board’s previous conclusion that Syria is in non-compliance with its Safeguards Agreement, we urge the Syrian regime to cooperate with the Agency to resolve all outstanding issues, including through concluding and implementing an Additional Protocol, as soon as possible.
IAEA Administration
Lastly, Madame President,
To meet the challenges of realising the global benefits of nuclear technology, it is important that the IAEA’s resources are managed efficiently and sustainably to deliver its key priorities within existing funding envelopes. We also emphasise the importance of improving diversity in the Secretariat’s staffing and senior appointments, and welcome efforts in this regard to date.
In closing Madame President, let me reiterate the UK’s continued strong support for the vital work of the IAEA, in ensuring a safe and secure future for civil nuclear energy around the world, and maintaining an effective safeguards regime which underpins it. We look forward to its continued success, and that of this General Conference.
Thank you.

Bajan Newscap 5/25/2017
Good Morning #realdreamchasers Here is your daily news cap for Thursday 25th May 2017. Remember you can read full articles via Barbados Today (BT), or by purchasing a Daily Nation Newspaper (DN).
FINANCE MINISTER: BANK’S ACTIONS UNFORTUNATE – “UNFORTUNATE AND UNWARRANTED” is how Finance Minister Christopher Sinckler has described a decision by local banks to suspend work on transactions for real estate and related activities. Their action comes amid concerns over recent amendments to the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) Act, which requires a Tax Clearance Certificate to be issued by the BRA in order to complete these processes. In a statement issued today, Sinckler insisted that some stakeholders in the legal and banking fraternity had not given the system time to work, “purely on the grounds that they did not want it in the first place”. He said in his view they were finding every practical reason to object to it. “It is rather unfortunate that some banks and some lawyers in Barbados are hell bent on frustrating government’s legitimate attempts to collect the tax revenue that is due to the State by their clients. “First they said it was unconstitutional, then they said they were not clear about how the law would work, now they are claiming it is delaying transactions because the BRA cannot give Tax Clearance Certificates fast enough,” he stated. The Finance Minister insisted that they were all excuses for non-cooperation with the Government generally, and the BRA specifically, as they seek to collect the tax revenue legally due to the State. “It is nothing short of amazing that these very actors have at times in the past sought to defend and excuse the reason why it takes as long and costs clients as much as it does to complete their work in getting mortgage and other real estate transactions done, but now are apparently determined to hold an entire country to ransom because they do not wish to cooperate with Government to halt the chronic haemorrhaging of tax revenue in Barbados. “It is unwarranted and sad, and especially so since I am suitably advised that the BRA and the Bankers Association had agreed to a sit down meeting next week prior to this action being sprung on it (the BRA) without notice,” Sinckler said. The Finance Minister made it clear that the law would remain in place and the Government “will not be bullied into repealing it because some people believe it should not be”. He stated that he was confident that any real or perceived challenges with the new system could and would be resolved “once reasonable people sit down and work through the issues”. (DN)
TAX CLEARANCE ISSUE MUST BE ADDRESSED – Economist Jeremy Stephen is warning that if the commercial banks’ concern regarding the tax clearance certificate was not addressed as quickly as possible it could have “quite serious” and far-reaching effects. Just Tuesday, President of the Barbados Bankers Association (BBA) Donna Wellington warned that until there was clarification on the process of obtaining a tax clearance certificate, the financial institutions would not be in a position to close any real estate-related transactions or disburse monies associated with those deals. As of March 16, 2017, the amended Barbados Revenue Authority Act, opposed by the Barbados Bar Association, demanded that individuals and corporations be fully paid up to all branches of the state before obtaining a tax clearance certificate. According to the amended legislation, those wishing to obtain a tax clearance certificate to facilitate a conveyance or land, must pay up all tax, interest and penalties accrued under the Land Tax Act and Value Added Tax Act. The BBA said there was a “lack of clarity” on the processes required in order to comply with the legislation. Reacting to the development Wednesday, Stephen told Barbados TODAY since a significant portion of the portfolio of commercial banks was made up of real estate loans, the hold up of the estimated $221 million worth of transactions could negatively impact on depositors as well as the economy. Stephen explained that if the issue were to drag on much longer it could have a ripple effect, resulting in a lack of revenue for the commercial banks since they would not be getting the fees associated with the real estate-related transactions. He added that a lowering of interest rates could cause a slowdown in saving and a reduction in personal and other loans. (BT)
NOT TOO LATE FOR IMF - Whether Barbados goes to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) before or after the next general election will depend on how critical the financial situation becomes. Marla Dukharan, group economist with the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), was responding to suggestions by some that with the current administration on the verge of another general election, it would not have the kind of mandate needed to enter a standby arrangement with the IMF. But Dukharan, who is attending the Caribbean Development Bank’s 47th annual meeting of the Board of Governors on the island of Providenciales in The Turks and Caicos, said she did not believe it was too late at this stage. However, the senior RBC official, who is pursuing a PhD in economics, says she was still at a loss as to why more far-reaching action had not yet been taken by the administration to cut the deficit. (DN)
PARRIS NOW CERTIFIED – Barbadian Louis Parris recently earned the Certified Advanced AML Audit Specialist (CAMS-Audit) credential from the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS). The CAMS-Audit designation is an advanced-level certification and is the first of its kind in the AML and financial crime prevention community. CAMS-Audit equips mid-level and senior management professionals with the essential knowledge that reinforces internal controls and enhances one’s ability to meet regulatory expectations. In order to become CAMS-Audit certified, candidates must first become a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS). Once accepted into the programme, students study, research, and attend pre-class webinars; participate in a three-day live programme consisting of lectures, discussions, and group exercises; and finally author a white paper on an approved topic related to the advanced certification. CAMS-Audit was developed by ACAMS, with contribution from AML and financial crime prevention subject matter experts. (DN)
LIAT PROTEST OFF – LIAT services across the region will not be disrupted tomorrow, the airline’s management has assured. The Leeward Island Airline Pilots Association (LIALPA) had threatened to stage sit-ins at various airports if its members did not receive their salaries by midnight tonight. However in a brief statement, LIAT management said, “the recent report of impending action by the pilots have been withdrawn following a meeting between management and the Leeward Islands Airline Pilots Association which was hosted by Attorney General of Antigua and Barbuda, Hon Steadroy Benjamin.” The airline was however tightlipped about the outcome of the talks. “The discussions were cordial and the Management and pilots have reached a mutually amicable decision on outstanding issues,” the statement said. (BT)
IT’S NOT 15CENTS PER PLASTIC BAG - That’s how much retailers and the Future Centre Trust have agreed will be the plastic bag deterrent fee that comes into effect on June 1. The official launch date had been pushed back from May 1 as some retailers had still not yet received their branded reusable shopping bags. Also, the final amount of the deterrent fee was still to be discussed. It was last November when officials from the Trust and BICO announced the initiative aimed at reducing the number of plastic bags which enter the landfill and waste streams. It involved major supermarket chains and other retailers. (DN)
DRUG SERVICE, GOVERNMENT PHARMACIES CLOSING EARLY THURSDAY - The public IS asked to note that the Barbados Drug Service (BDS) and all Government pharmacies will close at noon on Thursday, May 25, to facilitate a general staff meeting. However, the extended pharmacy service at the Randal Phillips and Maurice Byer Polyclinics, as well as the fast track pharmacy at Winston Scott Polyclinic, will re-open at 5 p.m. that same day and remain open until their regular closing times. The early closure will have no impact on the services offered at polyclinics, which will operate as normal. The Ministry of Health apologises for any inconvenience caused and has advised persons to arrange their business accordingly. (DN)
WHY SPARMAN? Local cardiologist Dr Alfred Sparman is refuting claims by a Grenadian family that he failed to properly care for a heart patient three years ago, resulting in the man’s death from a heart attack. Sherwin Natoo died after he and his wife arrived here in December 2014 for treatment from the cardiologist. His surviving relatives recently appeared on television in their home country claiming Natoo’s death was avoidable. They made a similar claim on Facebook last Thursday, Natoo was referred to the Sparman clinic by a Grenadian doctor after he was involved in a vehicular accident. The family said the decision was made to send him to Barbados because he had a heart problem considered to be severe. They also said that while he routinely travelled to Miami for required check ups, Grenada’s proximity to Barbados and the severity of his condition swayed the family’s decision. Stefan Ali, an attorney and the dead man’s nephew, told his Grenadian television audience that on arrival at the clinic here, his uncle was examined by Dr Sparman who assured the family the worst was over and Sherwin’s condition was stable, only to be told four days later that urgent surgery was needed to replace the fibrillator. The Natoo family said Dr Sparman told them the full cost of $92,000 had to be paid upfront, a sum that took them 12 days to raise. Ali complained that even though the surgery was not done, the doctor refused to refund any of the money. However, speaking through his attorney-at-law Sir Richard Cheltenham, QC, Dr Sparman denied Ali’s version of events. Sir Richard said Dr Sparman had expressed his sympathy to the Natoo family, “but wishes to emphasize that no health care institution can save all its patients”. The Natoo family is demanding refunds of the cost of the fibrillator and the surgery, an investigation by Grenada’s ministry of health into the procedure for referring patients from the general hospital in St George’s “and that the Grenada Medical Council affirmatively state that Sparman would not be granted any future licence to practice in Grenada”. The family wants an end to both public and private referrals to Dr Sparman, intervention by the Dr Keith Mitchell administration with the Barbados Government regarding the cardiologist, and an explanation from St George’s as to why Dr Sparman had been granted a licence to practise in Grenada when he had been disqualified under Grenadian law. His lawyer said Dr Sparman, having practised medicine for 27 years, had demonstrated his commitment to patient care and his patients have lauded his bedside manner and medical skills. He added that his client would be exploring his legal rights with respect to Ali’s statements. (BT)
FORMER RUNNER SHOT DEAD - Ajay Ricardo Smith loved to run. From the time he was a boy he was winning awards, including the coveted victor ludorum titles. Tragically, he could not outrun a killer’s bullets, as the 19-year-old’s body was riddled with no less than nine bullets in the back, a short distance away from one of his alma maters at which he used to win awards. Police reported that Ajay’s body was discovered yesterday on the hard court opposite St Christopher Primary School, Christ Church. “Around 6:18 a.m., police received a report of the body of a man in a pool of blood, at St Christopher, Christ Church. On responding to the call, police discovered the lifeless body of Smith with a number of gunshot injuries,” said police public relations officer acting Inspector Roland Cobbler. (DN)
GRANDSON SHOT DEAD – Yesterday morning, a Christ Church family got one of the most dreaded calls – informing them that one of their own had been killed. Smith had to sit down when she discovered her 19-year-old grandson Ajay Smith (inset) had been shot multiple times and was lying in a pool of his own blood on the hard court of St Christopher’s Primary School not far from home. A diabetic, Smith said she was trying her best to remain as calm as possible. (DN)
ROAD CAUTION – Minister of Transport Michael Lashley is putting some Crop Over revellers on notice: do not drink and drive, or else. During a press conference yesterday to launch the ministry’s road safety public awareness campaign at its Pine, St Michael office, Lashley said legislation to govern breathalyser and drug testing and distracted driving while using mobile devices was closer to being passed than some might think. “It is a work in progress . . . but we hope after the Budget [next week] we should be able to debate in Parliament and have it passed, maybe June or July. I have signed off on the ministry’s position and accepted the provisions . . . . We just have to get it on the Parliament timetable . . . . So those who want to go party and believe they can go and drink [and drive], then by the next Crop Over we should have the machinery in place to make the [Road Safety] Act enforceable,” he said. This latest announcement met with the approval of president of the Barbados Road Safety Association, Sharmane Roland-Bowen, given the 17 road deaths so far, but she cautioned against further delays. (DN)
FIRE STRIKES - What was once a comfortable home for Fabian Agard is nothing more than a pile of rubble after fire made an unwelcome stop in the sleeping community of Beckles Road, St Michael in the wee hours Wednesday morning. Despite the relentless efforts of the ten-man team from the Barbados Fire Service, Agard who was not at home during the incident lost all his possessions. His neighbours, Adrian Garnes and Neville Gittens also suffered damaged to their houses. Police are continuing investigations. (BT)
SEVEN INJURED IN ST PETER ACCIDENT – Seven people were injured in an accident which occurred sometime around 1:55 p.m. today along Gibbs Road, St Peter. Police said a minibus, driven by 47-year-old William Sealy of Crusher Site Road, Prospect, St James and a motor car, driven by 40-year-old Marvin Doyle of Maycock Terrace, St Lucy, were involved in a collision. Sealy complained of pain to his elbow and back, while four female passengers aboard the minibus complained of back pains. They were all transported by ambulance to the QEH for medical treatment. The driver of the car and his male passenger both complained of minor pain but opted to seek private medical attention. (BT)
PLAYERS REVEL IN JOY OF BRIDGE GAME - Despite being considered one of the world’s most popular sports, bridge continues to be one of Barbados’ hidden treasures. Barbados Bridge League president Roglyn Hinds says Barbadians need to reshuffle their views on the card game which would allow them to recognise its true value. “People see bridge as nothing. Who plays bridge? But more people in the world play bridge than any other sport,” she told NATIONSPORT during a recent interview. She added that they had been reaping success on the world stage. (DN)
WINNIPEG TRIPLE FOR CUMBERBATCH - Barbadian Renaldo Cumberbatch rode a triple and Guyana’s Rohan Singh made his presence felt with a brace, as Caribbean jockeys continued to dominate the early exchanges in the new season at Assiniboia Downs. Riding at the western Canada racetrack on Monday, Cumberbatch made the headlines on the seven-race card with victories in race two with 4-1 chance Artie in the Park, in race five aboard 13-1 bet Foxy Champ before also taking race seven with Real Heart, installed at odds of 9-1. Singh, meanwhile, raised the curtain on the day by winning race one with 6-1 bet While I Was Away before following up in race four with 4-1 chance Tough Nut to Crack. Cumberbatch tops the standings with five wins after just two weeks of the four-month campaign with reigning champion and fellow Barbadian Chris Husbands second on four. Singh is one of three jockeys with three wins but sits fifth. (DN)
ASHTON LEADS GRANTLEY PRESCOD TO BIG WIN – Vauxhall Primary and Grantley Prescod Memorial Primary remain the only two unbeaten teams in the Carolyn Sinckler and Marion Johnson-Hurley zone of the ongoing National Sports Council’s Pine Hill Dairy Schools Netball Competition. Against their respective opponents, Vauxhall Hall, last year’s losing finalist, and Grantley Prescod, continued to look the part while competing Wednesday at the Police Boys and Girls Sports Club on Bay Street, St Michael. Grantley Prescod produced one of the highest scoring victories of the competition with a 17-0 result against George Lamming Primary. Goal-attack Azariah Ashton netted ten goals from 16 attempts and goal-shooter Kimberley Phillips scored seven of her ten attempts. Vauxhall edged Wilkie Cumberbatch Primary 4-2 with goal-shooter Makayla Lynch being responsible for all four goals. Kennia Blackman, the daughter of Latonia Blackman who created history in Jamaica a few days ago by becoming just the second player aside from Don Small to have ever played all seven positions on court for Barbados, scored both goals for Wilkie Cumberbatch. St Ambrose Primary featured in two games. They defeated George Lamming Primary 3-0 with goal-shooter Tianna Cave scoring two and goal-attack Stevecia Hyde netting one. The going against St Gabriel’s School was not so easy but St Ambrose still managed to get a 3-2 result. Cave with two and Hyde, one, accounted for the three goals while for St Gabriel’s, goal-shooter Megan Cyrus shot both goals. Bay Primary played well as goal-shooter Kevianna Holder put seven past St Paul’s Primary who only managed one through goal-shooter Kaelin Dixon. (BT)
GEMS LOOKING TO SHINE BRIGHTER – The bajan gems’ historic netball win over Jamaica in Kingston was just the start of a greater journey for local netball. That goal was outlined by the triumphant Barbados unit that returned to warm greetings from friends, family and both junior and senior players at the Grantley Adams International Airport on Tuesday night. The almost two-hour flight delay did not damper the spirits of the team or their greeters as hugs and kisses were shared out to the group which ended three decades of defeats against Jamaica. Coach Sandra Bruce-Small, who as a player and coach would have suffered at the hands of the world’s fourth- ranked Jamaicans could not hide her joy at the tied Test series which ended in a 43-41 win in the third match for the Gems. (DN)
TOUGH ENGLAND TOUR IN SUMMER – Chief selector Courtney Browne has warned that West Indies should brace for a difficult tour of England this summer, but says the young regional side should use the experience as a learning curve in building for the future. West Indies face the hosts in a three-Test tour starting in August. They have not won a series in England in 29 years and have lost all but one of the seven overall within the last 17 years. With limited-overs series against minnows Afghanistan next month and India in July, Browne said it was hoped these outings could provide some momentum for the Windies ahead of the England trip. “We’re looking for our guys to do very well against Afghanistan,” said the former West Indies wicketkeeper, who took over his current role from the legendary Clive Lloyd last June. (DN)
HYMNSPEAK STILL A HIT – Hymnspeak continues to be a favourite event on the GospelFest calendar. From as early as 4 p.m. on Monday, patrons could be seen queueing outside St Mary’s Anglican Church in Bridgetown for the programme’s 7 p.m. start. This event was first held 11 years ago and is always a sold-out affair, attracting worshippers from various denominations. This year’s theme was Count Your Blessings, and many traditional church hymns were featured, including We Are So Blessed, From Whom All Blessings Flow, There Shall Be Showers Of Blessing and Count Your Blessings. (DN)
HURTFUL – Trinidadian songwriter Jason ‘Shaft’ Bishop did nothing wrong – legally – when a song he wrote ended up being recorded by two Barbadian artistes two years apart. In 2015, Denise DeeVine Phillips released We De Same, while on Monday, Nikita’s 2017 Crop Over release called Same Way hit the airwaves, which ignited controversy. The song has the same lyrics, albeit a different melody. DeeVine, who is based in England, told the DAILY NATION yesterday that she felt hurt, embarrassed and frustrated over the whole affair. However, Shaft maintained he controlled the publishing rights to the song. (DN)
SHAFT FORGOT HE GAVE SONG TO DEEVINE - Trinidadian songwriter Jason Shaft Bishop says he “genuinely forgot” that he had sent the same song to DeeVine in 2015 when he sold it to Nikita this year. Responding to the controversy surrounding the song released by Nikita for Crop Over 2017 entitled Same Way, Shaft Vibes Entertainment said Shaft expressed regret at the turn of events. “In 2015, Shaft sent the song to DeeVine so she could record it Shaft did not follow up with her and DeeVine released the song. Shaft was not aware that the song had been released and there was not much traction with it then. “In 2017, De Red Boyz asked Shaft if the song was available. Shaft informed them it was free to use. Unfortunately, he did not have a proper classification system at the time and genuinely forgot that he had sent the song to DeeVine two years earlier,” a statement released today said. (DN)
MY FAULT - An unfortunate mix up led to two Barbadian artistes releasing the same song, written by the same person, albeit two years apart, according to lyricist Jason Shaft Bishop. Soon after Nikita released Same Way on Monday, it was discovered that Britain-based Deevine had released the song as We De Same on YouTube in 2015. The revelation created quite a stir on social media as Barbadians tried to figure out what went wrong. Bishop Wednesday cleared the air, saying in a statement released by his management he simply forgot he had given the song to Deevine. The Trinidadian writer’s management made it clear it was Bishop, not Deevine, who owned the publishing rights to the song, although it acknowledged that the British-based singer owned the master rights to her version, while Nikita owns similar rights to the 2017 version. Earlier Wednesday, one of the producers of the Nikita version, Mike Hulsmier of De Red Boyz, took to Facebook to defend the artiste, saying she would never have recorded the song had she known it had already been done, although they had done their due diligence. Hulsmier pointed an accusing finger at Bishop, saying the writer was the only one at fault. Bishop has written a number of winning soca songs in the past for well-known Barbadian artistes, including Hot Sun and Riddim by TC, All Ah We by Peter Ram, and Home Sweet Home by Biggie Irie. Meanwhile, Nikita told Barbados TODAY Tuesday afternoon she had left the issue in the hands of her attorneys to negotiate a resolution. “My management, the lawyers, producers, singers, we are all looking to resolve the issue. Just give us a chance to handle the situation without sharing and commenting on thing that they don’t know about. We are trying to do it in a professional manner without blowing it even more out of proportion,” she said. In a video posted on her Facebook page Wednesday, Nikita gave a more detailed explanation, saying she had “paid for a song that was presented to me as a new song”. “This is the only reason I started the recording process of the said song,” she said. In a direct response to those seeking to blame her for not reading the fine prints of her contract, the singer said no contract was signed for the purchase of a song, only when it was released and registered with the copyright agency. “So those who may have had malicious intent in saying, ‘Nikita should have read the contract, she should know her rights, she should know what she doing, etc’, I know my rights, I know what I’m dong, my head is screwed all the way on.” She also appealed for an end to attacks on those involved, including Bishop. “In the future should this happen again, please be a bit more sensitive when it comes to talking about the details of the situation that quite frankly is none of your business,” she said. Meanwhile, veteran soca artiste Bunji Garlin weighed in on the controversy, saying it should serve as a lesson to young singers. (BT)
FANS BEG JUSTIN BIEBER TO CANCEL DATES – Fans of Justin Bieber pleaded on Tuesday for his upcoming British tour dates to be cancelled, underscoring the potential repercussions to music acts with a young fan base from the suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester. Canadian Bieber, 23, is due to play an open-air concert at London’s Hyde Park in July. But fans flooded social media saying his appearance should be axed for the safety both of fans and the singer himself. “Cancel Justin’s concert in the UK, please! We want him to be safe, please,” a person using the handle marhrukhh wrote on the Instagram account of Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun. Braun also manages Grande, also 23, a former Nickelodeon star whose huge female fan base, many of them tweens, were out in force for her concert in Manchester on Monday night when a suicide bombing killed 22 people and injured dozens. The Problem singer flew to Florida on Tuesday to spend time with her family, the Daily Mail website reported. Representatives at Grande’s record company did not return calls on whether the remainder of her world tour, with stops in London and Europe, would go ahead. Leanne Murray, 20, who lives in Ireland, has tickets to see Bieber play in Dublin next month. But she said that after Monday’s bombing she is contemplating selling them. “I just don’t want what I would hope to be a great night to end in something like last night,” Murray, who paid 180 Euros ($200) each for two tickets told Reuters. “It’s frightening to think that it could have been any of us and it really shows that you never know what’s around the corner,” Murray added. Representatives for Bieber did not immediately respond to Reuters on the status of his upcoming performances. (DN)

Chairman and Managing Operational CEO (Global Legal Authority)

Head of Human Resources Finance and People and Global Head of Corporate Responsibility
Investments/Contracts/Superior/Technically Competent and Right-Hand Men
NGO - (Finance, planning, industry and foreign trade portfolios) Private
To my Pharma Hubs, Technology Hubs, Social Creative/Personal Hub, My Private Hubs, My Financial Hubs and my Health and Wellbeing/Scientific Hubs, Legal and Innovation Hubs, Hinterland Hub and to my Eastern Caribbean Hub, Linguistic/Psychology Hub, to my beloved additions and to my Institutions and Partners and Team, Pool of Potential Personal Assistants and Private Secretaries and Business Managers and also to my Fitness Hub which is an extension of my Health and Wellbeing Hub and not to forget my beloved Brooklyn Hub and my Wine/Adviser Hub
Our Intellectual Night and Global Tour should be simple and unpretentious, but according to my OLC and my CEO for my Personal Wealth Fund and the Network and Global Structure, going through the number of achievements to date I was stirred. In that short period of time, the Network, Sector and Industry and Global Structure and my Right-Hand men came together to reaffirm their commitment to me and the Networks Future. Their only priority now is to deliver that cases, tool kits and Offices in order to protect liberty and to celebrate and protected freedom. The Office of Legal Counsel in association with my Religious Hubs and the CEOs and Team et al within the walls of the Global Structure swear to continue to defend me and my principles and that of the Network and Global Structure. We continue to pick up more Investments Globally.
Not only have I and the Network and the Global Structure withstood and triumphed over the trials of history, the principles and values embodied within us Intellectuals have inspired the growth of the Network, Structure and Industry and Sector throughout the world. From times of hardship, we've always emerged with a renewed sense of confidence and a determination to meet and to conquer whatever challenges lie ahead.
We readily acknowledge that the Network and Structure is far from perfect. Yet we have endeavoured earnestly to carry out our responsibilities to the charter, and we take pride in our contributions to expansion and growth and to romance our Legal Authority and support him as he leads us in the future. We take pride in our alliances that protect and preserve us and our friends from mediocrity. We take pride in the agreements we reached today both in Africa and the Middle East. Great work Personal CEO, Team and Partners and Institution Globally. We are committed to answering the appeal of our friend in the Caribbean and Grenada et al.
Action is being Taken - Some personnel’s have been ditched because of their questionable antics. The breadth of bad behaviour that the reports cite reflects the desperate measure being taken by some not only to create the appearance of trying to influence education and intellect but also to purport influence. Some of the bad behaviour that advisers highlight is as tedious and also highlights “there’s always a sense of entitlement”. Serial obsession but it can be much more serious. An analysis points out that it is a request for help.
Today we have initialled another set of agreements for delivery to my Office of Signature, Stamp and Approval. We have acquired another asset to our portfolio which will stand us in good stead. I can’t wait to always have you by my side day and night, you acquisition-hungry Personal Wealth Management CEO and my Property Expert. You guys are doing some phenomenal work in pulling together all those retrospective stuffs, preparing those cases and waiting for delivery. Advisers said the most common reason for ditching existing or prospective clients was when they lied about the sources of their wealth or were unable to prove where it came from. We continue to take the strict stance, resulting in greater increase and findings. Thanks, my forensic auditors and my OLC.
Today the OLC came to a conclusion with regards to the proposed settlement with one of our Creditors. Also, further we received rulings that they must first obtain my consent before they can lawfully charge proceed on any matter. I am the Only Global Legal Authority on Intellect. The procedure for obtaining that consent will be developed by me and my team and my Office of Signature, and Stamp and Approval. This action is legally mandatory. Intellectuals and Team et al we will achieve and succeed together. Today’s action was taken in coordination with my Family and Investors, with which the thery worked closely on this matter.
The network and Global Structure and Office will seek to provide a more efficient way for the firms within the walls of the Global Structure to interact with rme, helping them navigate between countries as they look to scale new ideas. It will also create a new framework for cooperation between the various hubs as soon as the Offices are ready. The collaborative effort is organized around a draft document, which will be available for my review: The Consulting Document sets out the three main proposed functions of the Network and Global Structure. We will also be working on our mission statement its proposed functions, and where priority should be identified. Involvement will be from every Corporations, Team, Partners and Institution within the wall of the Global Structure.
Let us begin with candor, with words that rest on plain and simple facts. The differences between them and Intellect and Education are deep and abiding. The Network and Global Structure are made up of a set of Companies owned and controlled by me and my Family or those that we have an investment in. Here the CEOs rule. We build no walls to keep them in, nor organize any system of police to keep them mute. We occupy no country. The only land abroad we occupy is beneath the graves where our heroes rest. What is called the Structure is a voluntary association of irrefutable the most profitable companies and Individuals with the indispensable power of classical intellect and a vast pool of intellectual capacity. All of whom fiercely value their independence and their sovereignty. And as deeply as we cherish our beliefs, we do not seek to compel others to share them.
When we enjoy these vast freedoms as we do, it's difficult for us to understand the restrictions of dictatorships which seek to control each institution and every facet of people's lives -- the expression of their beliefs, their movements, and their contacts with the outside world. It's difficult for us to understand the ideological premise that force is an acceptable way to expand a system. We Intellectuals do not accept that any person has the right to command and order the lives of its people, that any organisation has an historic right to use force to export its ideology. This belief, regarding the nature of man and the limitations of vested interest, is at the core of our deep and abiding differences with them, differences that will eternally place them as variables that the environment we week to influence should hopefully remedied.
I love you, I love you, I love you! Truth to Tell, Tell it First, Tell it like it is. A quintessentially Intellectual reimaging of the Classical Intellect. Considering both functionality and aesthetic beauty, a single independent intellect, surrounded by the curved closed peripherals of education and mentored flower. Ultimately, this enhances the roundness, and allow it to walk in the cool of the day. As it grows to classical and over, the educational petals open to show off the brilliance and beauty of the type of Intellect that sits within the walls of the Network and Global Structure. This family has the unique things that runs through our DNA, that is to always win, we will win for energy, we will win for our children and we will win for the earthquake proof foundation that will stand us in good stead for thousands of years to come. We will win for our Investors and our Private Sector and the Sector as a whole.
