You were standing on the pitch looking at the people, standing in the stands.

It was the Champions League final of 2014. 

Wolfsburg vs Barcelona.

This was your dream coming true, at seventeen you were playing for one of europe's biggest Womens football teams and you were on your way up. 

You started warming up when you saw her, you were instantly mesmerized by the brunette beauty.

She was warming up and talking to a teammate when she laughed and you could see her beautiful smile.

You couldn't take your eyes off her until a teammate of yours told you to come to the tunnel and get ready to walk out. 

Once you got into position in the tunnel, you saw her again.

But this time she caught you looking and shyly smiled at you.

Your heart fluttered, you desperately wanted to talk to her but now you had to focus on the upcoming final.

53rd Minute, the first half was boring other than a yellow card for your teammate Alex Popp, but now you were sprinting down the right wing. You dribbled past the defenders and shot, the ball was supposed to meet one of your teammates heads, but instead it flew further and curved over the keepers fingers into the goal.

You sprinted into the arms of your teammates, you couldn’t believe it you just shot your first Champions League goal, and that in a final. 

After the game was over and you got your medals, you were standing on the field, looking around yourself and taking it all in.

You turned around and saw that beautiful smile that made your heart flutter. You quickly turned back around, hoping that she didn’t catch you staring at her.

Suddenly you felt a tap on your shoulder, you turned around:,, Hola Hermosa’’ You were met with those beautiful eyes:,,H..hi’’ You stuttered and readiness shot up your face. ,, Would you maybe swap shirts with me?”, she spoke in with that beautiful accent of hers and your face only grew more red.

You quickly nodded and took off your shirt she followed and suddenly you were met with the body of a goddess and you couldn't tear your eyes away from her torso. You felt her looking up and down your body until she put your shirt on:,,Adios, hermosa, I'll see you again.” She leaned in and gave you a light kiss on the cheek.

You put her shirt on and tried to stop the blush that crept up your cheeks:,, Scheisse” you cursed at the realization that you had a crush, a crush on a hot spanish lady who is on the way to being on of the best footballers ever known in history. You really were in deep shit.

You were playing at Olympic Lyon now.

And as history likes it, it was the Champions league final of 2018 and you met Alexia , now your Girlfriend, at the stadium. 

It was actually quite funny to you that you kept your relationship a secret for almost 3 years now. No one knew, only a few close family members. You both were in your own bubble, you flew over to Barcelona as often as you could and Ale came over as often as she could.

Your love life were lazy mornings, secret messages and meetings.

That’s how you found yourself in this situation. In a storage closet of the stadium you were playing in.

Ales lips were on yours and your hands on her waist:,, I missed you so much Amor’’

She kissed along your ear while whispering.  ,,Me too Schatz. I love you so much Schatz’’, Your head snuggled into the crook of her neck and you just enjoyed the warmth that radiated off her, she loved when you  used her as a human pillow. You would randomly lay your head on her lap or her shoulder or bury it in the crook of her neck.

,,,How long do you think we can keep this up? I mean like staying a secret?’’, you ask the love of your life because that's what she was, the love of your life and you were so freaking sure of that.

She kisses your head:,, As long as we want to mi amor’’ We stayed like this for a few more minutes before we went our separate ways to our changing rooms. 

It was all over now. Lyon won the champions league. you did it again, your second champions league title. 

After you let that sink in you realized the love of your life just lost the champions league final.  The next thing you did was walk over to your love and close your arms around her:,,You played so well my love. You were amazing. I love you so much.’’

She looked up and you saw the tears in her eyes. You quickly looked around if anyone could hear you: ,, I love you mi amor. And you're not sleeping at your hotel tonight. You will come home with me and then i’ll let you do whatever you want to me.’’ I whispered the last bit into her ear and could immediately see her smirk and the lust in her eyes.

,, Sí, mi amor. Te amo.’’,with that Ale went back to her teammates. 

The next morning you were really  happy to have the day off because you literally couldn’t walk after Alexia had her fun with you… 

After months of hard work it was finally the off season and you had booked a romantic getaway for you and your girlfriend. You planned everything months in advance.

You wanted it to be perfect because in a few hours you would propose to the love of your life.

The hotel room had been decorated by the staff in a very romantic manner. Rose petals were laid down in a heart shape on the balcony.

From the balcony you could directly see the Eiffel Tower. 

After your flight and a short taxi ride you and Alexia stood in front of the hotel room door. Before you opened the door you made Alexia put down her luggage and turned her around, back facing the wall.

You then unlocked the door. You made sure she had her eyes closed and led her into the room.

You leaned up and kissed her neck lightly. ,,Open your eyes’’,you whispered into her ear.

,,Oh Amor, it’s beautiful’’, she turned around and kissed you with immense passion.

You pulled away:,,Baby we can do that later, first we have a wonderful dinner to enjoy’’, she pouted until she heard that there was dinner for you both.

You lightly chuckled at that and led her to sit down on the sofa and brought both your suitcases into the bedroom.

You both sat on the sofa for a while embraced in each others arms. When dinner came you sat down at the table and enjoyed it. 

After dinner you put on perfect by ed sheeran over your music box:,,Dance with me mi amor’’ You took her hands and put them around your waist, your hands found her neck and rested there.

When the song stopped you kissed her deeply. You suddenly became very nervous as you remembered the ring in your back pocket.

You took a deep breath and led Alexia outside.

You stood on the balcony opposite of Alexia. 

You took her hands in yours: 

,,Mi amor, you are the love of my life. I have known that since the moment I first saw your beautiful face in that stadium. Whenever I see you everything lights up. You make my world brighter mi amor, without you the light would be missing. We helped each other through wins and losses and I couldn’t imagine my life without you and I don’t want to imagine my life ever without you.’’

I got down on one knee and pulled the ring out.

,,Alexia Putellas Segura, mi amor, love of my life, mein Schatz: Quieres casarte conmigo?’’

She had tears running down her face before pulling you into a kiss: ,,Si mi amor, I will, i love you so much!’’ 

Now years later, you just transferred to Barcelona to be with your wife.

None of your teammates knew, but that would change today.

You were with the higher ups signing your contract while Alexia was just arriving at the changing room. She was wearing her wedding ring for the first time around the team.

She was putting her things down in her cubby when she heard Frido: ,,Alexia! Is that a wedding ring?’’

She took her hand in her own and inspected the ring. That’s when the rest of the team realized what was just said.

But before Alexia could say anything you walked through the door. Alexias face lit up once she saw you and she quickly made her way over to you:,,Hola mi amor.’’

She lightly pecked you on the lips.

Alexia put her arm around your waist as Aitana asked: ,,How long have you been together?’’

Alexander I Pavlovich

a. “Maybe not the most handsome or charismatic man in this tournament, but he has ample chaotic neutral energy that both baffles and fascinates contemporaries. In short, if you're into mysterious men, you won't find a sexier enigma than our imperator.”

c. There are lots of monuments dedicated to him. There's one in Moscow in the Alexander Garden right by the Red Square. While nowhere near as grand as the Alexander Column, I think it's still worth showcasing!

The monument is meant to celebrate his victory in the 1812 Russian invasion. He's holding a sword, proudly standing on top of his enemies' weapon.

The sculptors, however, have never seen the man in their life - all the people involved in the making are still alive and well (i think), so that should tell how new it is. The monument was opened for the public just a decade ago in 2014.

His family nickname might have been ‘our angel’ and the medal commemorating his death bears the inscription “Our angel is in heaven”, but did you know that to this day Alexander looks down on Sankt Petersburg as an actual angel, wings, cross, trampled snake and all? Alas, you cannot see it from the ground, the Alexander Column being so very tall, but the statue of the angel on top certainly seems to take after our sexy thrice-angel Emperor.

g. What is sexier than a man in a dress???

Mikhail Miloradovich:

Miloradovich had a short episode as Catherine the Great's favourite at just eighteen. Alas, usually he's not included on the official list except by Barskov. That is because he was one of several concurrent boytoys candidates in 1789, before Zubov won the contest. But I believe that being to Catherine's taste adds to M's sexyman cred.

He never married, but according to his legend, he kept an entire trunk of love letters (from many, many ladies) in his palace, which was discovered after his death.

Miloradovich possessed the kind of cavalier fantasy that made him a hero among soldiers (and one of Suvorov's favourites). Hence these three popular stories:

Once, while on campaign, his soldiers decided to give M their best wishes on his name day. He was very gracious about it and told them with his best roguish smile that in thanks for their wishes he'd give them a present... that present being the nearest pretty-as-a-picture enemy column (French).

On one occasion Joachim Murat came out, sat down and demonstratively drank coffee during an active fire exchange. Miloradovich naturally couldn't be worse and asked for a table to be set for him. Also under the fire, because where else. "He's drinking coffee? I'm eating dinner here!" And it wasn't a singular event: more than once he and Murat conducted a peculiar gallant flirtation on the field. And yes, Miloradovich also had a weakness for very blingy bling.

Alas, M didn't get to carry a ladder (that we know of), but he didn't shy motivating his soldiers in similar ways. It just so happened that his scouting party came to a stop at a steep slope and froze. Miloradovich came forward, got on the ground and slid down the slope on his spine, laughing and generally having (or pretending to have) lots of fun.

Emma Reed (Wright) (May 30, 1925 - April 4, 2014) was born on the family farm in rural Redwood, Mississippi to Sallie and Smith Reed. She grew up on the farm but attended Coleman High School in Greenville. She enrolled in Tennessee State University where she obtained a BS in Health and Physical Education. She enrolled in New York University, graduating with an MA in Engineering.

She joined the Track and Field Team as a long and high jumper. She set records at Tennessee State. In 1947 she claimed the AAU Junior title in the high jump. In 1948 she finished second nationally at the AAU Outdoors Meet in London in the high jump and was victorious at the AAU Indoor high jump championship.

She was one of only 34 athletes from Tennessee State to participate in the Olympics. She got her first chance for glory and a gold medal at the 1948 Olympics in London. She was 23 years old when she took part in the Women’s Long Jump for Team USA which ranked 12th in the international competition. Her best jump had a distance of 5.290 feet which was tied for 11th during the competition. This number moved her to the Final Round where she achieved a distance of 4.845 ranking 12th overall.

She participated in the Women’s High Jump for Team USA where she tied for 14th in the event. She achieved a height of 4.6 feet which was her overall personal best.

She returned to Tennessee State at the end of the Olympic games. She resumed her studies and graduated from State. She began teaching African American history at Barber-Scotia College.

She married Julius Wright (1960-61). There were no children from the marriage. She began teaching at Leland Junior High in DC. She became a tennis coach at the William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park.

Internet observation/tip: discourse

Let's say you've watched a show about a serious topic, such as war. You thought this show was good, and want to talk about it with others. Online, you see these two takes. Try to focus on how these posts would make you feel.

1.

Yeah the show was pretty good, I loved the costume and set design, I felt super emmersed. One thing I kinda wanted to see if anyone saw tho. I kind of got the feeling that war was presented as...exciting? And as if killing people on the battle field is some sort of achievement. Like, how the main character only ever gets rewarded with medals and such, and is never really affected negatively. Seems like a weird direction to take a show like this. Thoughts?

I can't BELIEVE anyone likes this horrible irredeemable show. It completely romantices war. Nobody who fights in a war is a good person, and normalising violence is the worst thing a popular show could do. UNFOLLOW ME if you like this show, any show defenders will be blocked!! How can you support murder??? The network better pull this show quick.

These examples technically are making the same point; this imaginary show's depiction of war is not flawless. It focused on positives and skims over negatives. Both posts are discussing this. But which one reminds you of being on tumblr in 2014? And also.......tumblr Now. And twitter- Yeah its number 2.

Important differences:

1 does not see something as black and white. It is not fully hateful and unwaveringly against the made up show, BUT it does not ignore the issues either. It doesn't pretend the show is perfect either, since it's evidently not. 2 presents it as unconditionally morally bad. In any opinion, complete black and white thinking is not a great sign for a post.

As a continuation to that point, 2 says that not only is the show bad, people who Like it are bad and "support murder". This, and the characterisation of "show defenders" is said like this to present anyone who disagrees with the poster as the opposite extreme, which really isn't necessarily true. This type of treatment of random people on the internet is bad for anxiety, particularly moral anxiety, feeling like you're a bad person. People may feel like if they disagree with the poster, they are a bad person.

Buzzwords! Lots of language can Sound veritable and smart, when really the poster doesn't quite understand the meaning and just wants people to automatically agree with them. Any random user could see this post, and then parrot "that show romanticises war" without remembering if they actually KNOW that or not.

These are just some things that it's important to think about when judging situations, particularly media discourse.

Who does the poster want to side with them - are they using any broad statements and inflammatory language to convince as many people as possible?

How are they presenting proof - do they acknowledge that they may not be correct, or do they state their opinion as fact?

How do they treat people who disagree with their opinion - do they understand and listen to alternative ideas, or do they present Others as immoral and separate?

It's good to be able to look out for a type of opinion that is designed to make you feel morally obligated to agree.

Sergeant, Special Air Service Regiment

Kyle Garrick enlisted in the British Army in 2014, serving in the Queen's Lancashire Regiment, spending four years participating in test flights, jump competition and marksmanship before passing selection for Her Majesty’s elite Special Air Service (SAS), where he is currently serving as a sergeant for his sixth year.

Tasked to Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria, Garrick has spent the better part of his career hunting terrorist fighters. Kyle earned the U.S. Marine Corps Gold Parachute Wings at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina whilst on an exchange attachment and routinely cross-loads on operations with the SAS American counterparts, the Navy SEALs. Required to undergo resistance to interrogation testing, Kyle was the only candidate in his class to escape the facility and evade capture. Routinely subjected to physically and mentally uncomfortable scenarios, Kyle prides himself on high tolerance and tactical awareness. “Everyone talks about the physical aspect of being in the SAS but my job is mostly mental. Give me a guy who’s got his mindset right over a guy who’s twice as fit any day of the week.”

Sergeant Garrick was awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal, the South Atlantic Medal, and the General Service Medal for both covert and overt counterterrorism operations in the Middle East, disrupting opium supply lines and poppy production, a major source of terrorist financing. Kyle’s last Middle Eastern tour was cut short due to an ever-changing political climate and a growing intolerance for full-throated unconventional warfare. Fading support for western backed guerrilla movements as well as growing regional tension complicated matters in the field, as men like Kyle are asked to do an imperfect job, perfectly well, without exception, no matter the cost.

With expertise in prime target elimination, demolitions, weapons tactics, covert surveillance and VIP protection, Kyle currently serves on the SAS domestic counter-terror program, executing homefield mission with metro police forces on European soil. Challenging duty, due to civilian and collateral damage issues, Kyle seeks the opportunity to serve abroad again, and make a real difference combating the threat of terror.

With the SAS notoriously shrouded in secrecy, Kyle explains— “We move in silence, do our job, and melt away. No publicity, no media. It takes stamina, willpower, guts and brains. Got those, we'll welcome you a try at being one of us. If you haven't got all that, then off with you...”

Kaitlin & Jean-Luc's 3rd senior season, 2016-17 was the Midnight Blues/Hip Hop season - teams who can ride their edges can show that off in this pattern - they look smooth. Michael Buble Feeling Good is totally played out now, but idk if it was yet in 2016

their FD to Liszt's Liebestraum is gorgeous - it highlights how beautiful their flow and knees are and how musical and how detailed they can be. they unfortunately had a very rough skate at Nationals where both their twizzles and a lift were invalidated (and still came in 5th). she lost her balance in the transition between sets of twizzles, and from the way her knee is bloody after, it looks like she snagged on rough ice - just really unlucky. maybe because they ended the season this way, they kept this FD the following year, but for someone as hard on themselves as she is, i wonder if it kept her (and also the judges?) dwelling on what happened instead of starting with a clean slate 😢

Lightning Fields, Hiroshi Sugimoto.

The Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugimoto (1948), is a photographer that resides halfway between Tokyo and New York. He received various awards: The Hasselblad Foundation International Award (2001), The Imperial Award (2009), The Purple Ribbon Medal of Honor (2010), The Officier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (2013) and the Isamu Noguchi Award (2014).

If anything distinguishes Sugimoto's black and white photographs is its use of natural light, the shadows and the purity of forms, some close to pictoric. Standing in front of many of them, the spectator is encouraged not only to look but also to think; as in his noted marine landscapes, its immutability causes loosing the notion of time. They invite to a constant reflection about the origin and history of the world and of our culture, where concepts like space and time are explored expanding our ways of perception.

JAMES EARL JONES (1931-Died September 9th 2024,at 93). American actor known for his film roles and his work in theater. He was one of the few performers to achieve the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony). He was inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame in 1985, and was honored with the National Medal of Arts in 1992, the Kennedy Center Honor in 2002, the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award in 2009, and the Academy Honorary Award in 2011.

Stephen started swimming in 2014 and quickly took to the sport, breaking through to make his major debut at the 2016 IPC Swimming European Championships in Funchal, Portugal, where he made three finals and set a new personal best in the 400m freestyle S13.

He made his Paralympic debut at Rio 2016 where he recorded his best result in the final of the 100m backstroke S12

Tuskegee Airman Sergeant Amelia Robinson Jones (July 3, 1919 - September 22, 2015) was one of a handful of women to become members of the Tuskegee Airmen. She was born on Daufuskie Island, South Carolina, the youngest of fourteen children of Sipio and Susan Robinson. She received her BS in home economics from Georgia State College.

She enlisted in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps at Hunter Army Airfield on February 10, 1943. She was called to active duty in September, to the 118th Army Air Force Base Unit and served in various states during WWII. She rose to the rank of sergeant. Her last assignment was at Godman Field as support personnel, with the 99th Pursuit Squadron, under Colonel Benjamin O. Davis. She supervised the postal service at Godman Field which was responsible for delivering mail to the aviators of the 99th.

She married Henry W. Jones and used the G.I. Bill to earn an MS in food and nutrition at Howard University. She worked for two years at A&T State College as a dietitian before serving nineteen years as the Services Club Director at Fort Steward and Hunter Army Air Field.

In September of 2014, she participated in the “Living History Meets Honor Flight” program, at the WWII Memorial. She received the prestigious Tuskegee Airmen red jacket on October 25, 2014, along with the Congressional Medal for her service. On April 19, 2015, she was presented with a bronze replica of the Congressional Gold Medal. The Congressional Gold Medal had been awarded to the Tuskegee Airmen as a group in 2007. Zaha Hadid studied mathematics at The American University of Beirut until 1972 when she moved to London to study Architecture. As a woman and an Iraqi-British citizen of Muslim heritage she broke many barriers. In the 1988 exhibition “Deconstructivism in Architecture” at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, her conceptual works gave the world an opportunity to witness her unique voice and helped to launch her as an international figure in the field.
