I'm gonna be completely honest, and I say this as someone who loves Kylie Scott's Stage Dive series (the first of which, at least, is getting the Passionflix treatment)...

There's a point when I can't believe Tosca Musk is paying people enough to give up their dignity.

The Musk connection aside (not worth it!), these productions look like the new definition of low-budget. (So the money cannot POSSIBLY be THAT good, and I say this as someone who would be super excited to receive, like, a random $1K.) Exactly what people think romance is when they deride it.

I'll compare it right now to an adaptation I would also say isn't traditionally *quality* though I personally love it: 365 DNI. Is the acting ~great? No. Is the writing ~good? Eh, debatable, I personally love dialogue like "ARE YOU LOST BABY GIRL" but I acknowledge, it is not CONVENTIONALLY what the masses think of as high quality.

But even if you hate it, on a basic structural level... It looks like a movie. There are some beautiful shots of the scenery, they put them out on the water in a whole (big) boat, the sex scenes are insane but honestly pretty well-shot (to the point of looking... quite real... at points), the costumes are solid, the lighting is actually quite good (which is more than I can say for ALMOST ANYTHING ELSE right now) the actors are hot and styled to look their best.

That movie does not ASPIRE to be anything other than what it is, and there's money spent and effort put in to make it a good example of what it is: A borderline (or not borderline) softcore frothy over the top fantasyfest starring two superhot people cavorting throughout Europe and getting into increasingly ludicrous situations.

Even the CHOICES are made to be economical about what they can and can't do. Naked shots on a yacht? We can do that. A ridiculous choreographed dance in the middle of a masquerade ball? We can do that. A couple of BOPS sandwiched between generic pop tracks that nonetheless delight me? Absolutely. A shopping sequence in which Michele Morrone looks so fucking good that I want to claw my face off? Yes.

But for a mafia movie... there is very minimal onscreen mafia action, lol. No big shootouts, no insane action sequences. There's some light kidnapping, a couple of single shot scenes over the course of like, three movies. A bit of danger. But not only is the movie genuinely not interested in being a mafia movie beyond Massimo "playing mafia"... It knows THEY DON'T HAVE THE MONEY OR TIME AND EFFORT FOR THAT SHIT. It's meant to be glossy, it's meant to be sexy and spoofy, it's meant to be a fun escapist fuckfest

And I won't pretend to be a Black Dagger Brotherhood fan, but it's a pretty popular product (probably moreso than the original 365 DNI book, based on the merit of it being around for forever), and like...
