Finally caught up and watched HIGHGATE HOUSE OF HORROR last night. Adding the title to my r/in9/etc Note I realized this was the last TLOG-related thing I hadn't watched, so therefore this branch of my in9 + extended universe journey seems to have ended. although there's some BTS/general press stuff I haven't gotten around to

Really liked all the film references! Happy to have gotten PSYCHO, DON'T LOOK NOW (ofc), and I wanna say TRILOGY OF TERROR, THE OMEN, and THE SHINING? I'm sure there are others that went over my head.

I'm admittedly not the biggest horror film fan, but I love how much the League love it (and just cinema/television in general!), and I've certainly tried to watch more from this genre ever since watching the show. last time this happened was during my SCREAM phase a few years ago...

And Steve & Jeremy were so good!!

Also glad to have known what Branston was because of Three Bean Salad lol

And then losing them, it just got… tangled up with all the other stuff… about being gay… and just a feeling like… the future doesn’t matter. Does that make sense?’

I’m NOT fine. Why did it have to combine most of my traumas like that with my obsession for ghosts and old places?

Goddamnit I kinda want to throw up, that felt way too close and too brutal at the same time. So funny how it has a parallel with the idea of the novel I’ve started to write - which has been on my mind for the past 3 years. Ghosts and imagined conversations and loneliness and sadness and trying to make sense about the future when everything takes you back to the past.

How insane is it to see a younger version of me in the eyes of Harry and not completely lose my fucking mind? I’ve only been able to let go of her and of the worst ‘what ifs?’ a couple of months ago so watching his character going through all of this throws me back two years ago.

I feel like Adam, surrounded by ghosts and loneliness and having to keep going. Luckily I feel way way better now, but I can’t help the sudden good old loneliness to find its way back and make its home again inside my tight chest.

What I would give to talk to my mother, ask her if she’s proud of who I’m trying to be and if she loves me still.

As the crazy person that I am I rewatched twice two scenes that made suffocating cause of tears.

Anyways, Andrew, Paul, thanks for the tears AGAIN. Thanks Ireland, always haha.

Also Death of a Party by Blur playing made my brain go wild.

I kinda want to rewatch it again, because it’s that kind of film that you need to rewatch to understand the story all over again with the new details. Everything is brilliant and I want to cry.

I’m gonna shut up now, I’m listening to Fontaines D.C. while writing all this, trying not to overthink about the past, and I want to cry but I should just go fucking sleep. I’ll probably see ghosts again during the night.

I want to cry again, if you didn’t get it.

I’ll be ok.

personally, I’m not so thrilled with yorgos lanthimos new corpus of movies. I miss the tragic absurdism of his previous movies, the brownish tone and blue atmosphere. His new body of work seems too acidulous, I’m not even excited for the next one bcs it already looks like a pop version of ruben ostlund’s filmography
