summary: when bolearis mistakes ethel and you for a couple, you start to suspect ethel might actually have feelings for you...

“he said WHAT to you–!?”

ethel's voice echoed through her office, as you struggled to keep a serious face, holding back laughter. while ethel was seemingly offended and upset, you couldn't help but think how amusing this all was!

“don't laugh about this–!” ethel huffed, as soon as she noticed your amusement. “you're only going to fuel his dumb idea that you and i–”

yet before ethel could even finish her sentence, there was a knock on the office door and bolearis entered. he really couldn't have picked a better time to show up…

“ah, you two are already here!” he smiled. “apologies, i just wanted to see if they had made it here, commander.”

bolearis was almost ready to leave again, the doorknob already in his hand, when ethel stopped him.

“bolearis, stay.” she commanded. “i'd like to have a word with you.”

bolearis only shot a short glance towards you, as if wondering if you should be around when ethel wanted to scold him. but ultimately, he quietly gave in and entered the room once more.

“where do i start this…” ethel sighed softly, as bolearis stepped in front of her. she clearly felt awkward about this, yet was too irritated to drop the topic. “y/n and i are NOT dating, alright? please, stop referring to us as a couple.”

the amused smile snuck back onto your lips, as you saw the confusion in bolearis’ eyes. he turned to you, as if searching for help, before turning to ethel again.

“wait… you two AREN'T a couple–!?” he eventually gasped. “but– you fit the definition of a couple to a tee! i just assumed that– the way you look at each other… or how you're always together…”

bolearis began to quietly think out loud, which only caused ethel's cheeks to turn red, as she heard his mumbling.

“e-enough!” she called out, trying to hide how flustered she was. “the two of us are NOT dating, alright? you have to stop telling people that we are…”

“o-of course–! i'm sorry, m'am!” bolearis looked genuinely apologetic. meanwhile, you still couldn't quite take this seriously, too amused by how flustered ethel was.

“would it really be so bad if we were dating though~?” you teased, getting up from your seat and approaching ethel, just to gently nudge her side.

“y-y/n–!” ethel glared at you, cheeks even more red than before. “don't tease me, alright?”

flustered, she averted her gaze from you, trying to hide her embarrassment. but instead, ethel's eyes met bolearis’, who seemed both confused and amused by the current situation.

“m'am…? i'm confused, are the two of you–”

“bolearis, get out.” ethel sighed, before turning to you, her face still red . “you too. i think you've caused enough confusion for a day…”

Kevesi and Agnian Heroes living in the City headcanons

-Ethel and Cammuravi make literally everything a competition (who can run the most laps around the entire City, who can eat the most torpedo wraps in one sitting, good ol' fashioned brawls at the wrestling ring, etc)

-Alexandria tried to enroll in university but was turned away for being too young. High school quickly bored her to tears. It begged the university to get Aionios's resident smartass off their hands. The university finally caved in and let her enroll to study business and IT.

-Valdi is everyone's go-to guy for fixing Levnises, of course. He insists on bunking in the tech quarter, forgoing actual furnished rooms in the residential quarters.

-Cammuravi was initially treated as a walking fire hazard until Ethel and the Ouroboros gang convinced people that he will not in fact burn down the entire City, by accident or otherwise.

-Fiona regards the park as her favorite spot in the City. She's the City kids' favorite playmate.

-Isurd is a new member of the City's tabletop and board game club. He got Zeon to join when he mentioned that some games are farming sims.

-Miyabi joins the City street performers, alternating between her flute and fans to entertain folks with music and dance.

-Not wanting to steal Ethel and Cammuravi's thunder as already established sparring instructors, Teach spends much of his time at the university to learn how gentler arts are being taught.

-Zeon is absolutely enthralled by the concept of greenhouses and balcony gardens.

-Ethel's second home is the City library. The senior librarian is practically her adopted mother.

-Juniper spends more time outside the City than in it, patrolling and exploring the wilderness outskirts to their heart's content.

-Ashera is the resident terror among Lost Number recruits and soldiers. She's always showing up to the training facility uninvited, joking about eating them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, depending on the time of day. Ethel swatting her off like a fly is a daily occurrence. ("Ash please go away, I already fought you yesterday, you're scaring the poor recruits")

-Isurd becomes a regular at the City's most popular massage parlor and acupuncture clinic. It's very hard for Taion to hold a proper conversation with him there when he's emitting satisfied "oohs" and "aahs" every five seconds.

-Despite stating precautions and giving warnings to discourage any derring-do, Juniper is not popular among parents for being a "bad influence" on their children, who want to slide down ziplines willy nilly. They have to limit their sliding to nighttime, when the kids are in bed.

-It was Fiona's idea to grow more flowers around the Remembrance Stones. City folks backed the project and believe the place has become even more lovely and precious for it.

-Valdi has his own names for all the City Automatons. Half the Lost Numbers think it's endearing and the other half think it's downright annoying.

-One day Hollis gathered all of them at the medical facility to sit down for The Talk. Alexandria and Teach took meticulous notes. Zeon, who had just grasped mastering how to grow potatoes, was hopelessly confused. Juniper, a veteran at growing potatoes, was just as confused. Ashera kept making faces like something had died in the room. Valdi nodded along politely, but really couldn't care less about something that's not at all like making Levnises. Fiona and Miyabi thought the whole thing was simply magical. Isurd stared off into space, mulling over that kind of possibility with a certain someone who loves saffronias. Ethel and Cammuravi looked around everywhere but at each other, their faces red as Noah's jacket.

(EDIT: Putting a "Keep Reading" thing since this retreads stuff talked about in my Pinned post and I don't wanna clog up the page for anybody that might be viewing my page for the first time lol)

...not me working on this idea right now just ever so slightly differently lmao

Im absolutely obsessed with Shania and Ghondor (and the entire damn City, for that matter). However, I haven't run into people with the same obsession as me yet (majority of the time, it's just people bashing on Shania (rightly so, she was an absolute bastard in the main story and didn't get the proper character development outside of one solitary side quest))

However, characters like Shania, Ghondor- hell, the bloody City Special Forces that do basically nothing all scream one thing to me: wasted potential.

We could've had the City's Ouroboros vs Our Ouroboros. Perhaps had Shania been introduced sooner than Chapter 5 (perhaps, say, Chapter 2!), we could've gotten a different perspective on the City after Guernica kicks the bucket and actually made us give a darn when she inevitably kicks the bucket herself.

Like, I'm a fan of Shania's character but even I can realize that she got shafted HARD by the writing, which sucks! It's funny too, since the writing tries to ham up Shania's death like it's this big thing when in reality, you shared maybe less than half an hour of cutscenes with this girl who just rubbed her betrayal in your face. Then, it tries to make Sena out to be completely devestated by her death. Sena, love, you spent less than half an hour with her.

And then, Noah says "I've changed so much from the people I've met on this journey!" AND IN THE BLOODY FLASHBACK SHOWING CHARACTERS LIKE ETHEL AND CAMMURAVI, SHANIA SHOWS UP??? Noah, all she did for you IS ACCIDENTALLY MAKE YOUR GIRLFRIEND IMMORTAL!!!

It really makes me wonder what ended up on the cutting room floor! What did they have planned for Shania's story? What could have been?

Going full on into tinfoil hat territory here, but perhaps they were going to make her a microcosm of the main cast's issues. She already wields her fallen sister's gun in remembrance of Titania, much like Mio carries Miyabi's flute in remembrance of Miyabi! There's the obvious connection between Shania and Sena, both seeking validation for their efforts and trying to copy those they look up to (Ghondor and Mio respectively). Continuing this probably extremely flawed line of logic then, I wonder how they would've tied her to other characters? How would she connect to Eunie, Lanz, Taion, and Noah- especially Noah/N?

Well, I have ideas. Ideas that I want to share in the form of either a comic series or a video series. If I do the comic route, I might be able to get it out faster. However, if I do the video route, I'll be able to do music and voicing, things that have greatly elevated this story when I've told it to other people (I AM SLOWLY BUT SURELY MANUFACTURING SHANIA AND GHONDOR FANS MUTHAFUCKAAAAAAAAAA).

...Sorry, I don't intend to self-promote. It's just that this has inhabited my mind for over two years now and after entering a server where people's favorite pass time is bashing on Shania, I just needed to get at least this much out. I've already written over 100 pages for this supposed "XC3: Rewritten Fates" fan thing and I'm desperate to share what I have. However, I want to do this right. I don't want this to be a totally self-indulgent fanfiction. Not that there's anything wrong with that, obviously! But... If I am to take this "What If?" seriously, then I want it to feel like this could really have happened in the main story of XC3.

...Jeez, I really did rant, didn't I? Truth be told, I just really like Shania lol. Also, doomed Yuri between the three is a fun, albeit indulgent fantasy lol. If you read all that stuff I wrote, I am so sorry you had to bear witness to my insane ramblings but I hope it was moderately interesting!

if more tumblr girlies were into xenoblade i guarantee you there would be so much sena/ghondor/shania posting. short girls with problems. one of them kills herself on screen after her betrayal of the other two blows up in her face. and then after she briefly achieves immortality she goes to rub it in their faces and kill people about it. and then they kill her about it.

shania reid is a deeply fucked up lady with a heavy inferiority complex and it keeps blowing up in her face.

sometimes, eunie gets to spend more time with you, while ethel fulfills her commander duties. and sometimes, you spend more time with ethel, as eunie is out with the other ouroboros, saving the world!

both of your girlfriends are incredible women and you often praise them for their accomplishments! but both of them get super flustered when you do…

while a soft blush hushes over ethel's cheeks, eunie turns as red as a tomato at a single compliment, hiding behind her wings!

yet when they are the one making the first step, they actually love affection! as long as you let them be in control and decide when to kiss and cuddle you, they won't get flustered!
