Halloween is coming and a new our design is here! It's Skeleton Cat - print in place 3d printed articulated toy. The cat is available on Cults3d as STL file for home 3d printing (both FDM and Resin). The toy consists of 2 parts - body and head. You can see the FDM printed version in the pics. The cat was printed with Ender 3 Neo v2 in PET-G white color by Devil Design. Here are our printing settings: Nozzle: 0.4 Layer height: 0.16 mm Infill: 15% Scale: 150% The cat will also be able at our partners' websites as a printed toy We hope you'll like him

My 3D print failed when it was so close to being done 😞
Best I can tell, the nozzle clogged, and then the extruder ground against the filament until it broke. When I woke up this morning nothing had been extruded for a good centimeter of layer height.
I'd be more sad/panicked, except the Halloween party this mask was for is this Saturday, and I just literally do not have time to attempt this print again (it takes over 3 days on my Ender 3 V2).
The costume works without it, I'll just be a regular jedi instead of a Jedi temple guard. Good thing I hadn't painted the stoles yet I guess 🫤
#3d printing#failed 3d print#personal#i mean i guess i could try to print the last missing bit separately and then glue them together?#but that sounds like more stress than i need in my life#really making the case for getting a new printer. theyve really come on in leaps and bounds in the last few years and theyre so fast!#and pretty much all of them are on sale right now!#the ender 3 v3 KE calls to me#though i cant decide if i want to shell out $80 more for the Bambu Labs A1#(i know my issue was probably caused by poor maintenance and not a flaw in the printer itself)#(but i have adult money and want a new toy)

Aziraphale’s Medallion Construction
Since apparently I couldn’t make any part of this costume simple, I documented the steps I took to make an accurate replica of Aziraphale’s fob.
I started with a 3D print, having to try a number of different orientations to get the most detail, as I have a STL printer, not a resin printer. For anyone interested, I used an Ender 3 v2 printer with Polymaker CosPLA Version B filament.
I didn’t like how simple the file I used was, so I cut the sides, re-sculpted the scrolls, built up the details on the angel, and filled in the layer lines. For sculpting, I used Milliput 2-part putty. For the layer lines, I used AK Hard modeling white putty.
Then it was sand, sand, sand, until I felt comfortable making a mold and casting it in resin. I put a thick jump ring in the resin, as I felt the loop would be the most likely place to break, and wanted extra support.
I then sanded the resin cast some more to smooth the edges and back, then used gold leaf Rub N Buff to color it.
I’m pretty happy with the final result. I know there were simpler ways to go, but I’m glad I stuck it out on this route.
I have an entire post to make for the chain, as I essentially built it from scratch, so that will come later.

2023: week 16
ender 3 v2. i bought a 3D printer! he's just a little guy, but i got him to print the benchy tugboat without fucking up, so now i am clearly unstoppable.
i also bought a power washer and cleaned my courtyard, and it was incredibly satisfying.
dead ringers (amazon, 2023). after all the fuss, this ended up being pretty disappointing. the first couple of episodes were fabulous, but it really fizzled out by the end. i do feel like i was meant to find certain things more scandalous than i did, but it mostly just felt very flat by the end. reading this interview with rachel weisz and alice birch was kind of startling in its similar flatness, like they both came across as very superficially interested in what was being explored here, which was genuinely shocking! anyway, let the hot lady grow babies in a tank, thanks.
lune's anzac biscuit kouign amann, the anzaka, which was only on sale until today and is probably sold out now. fucking incredibly delicious.
krispy kreme's 12 glazed for $12, which i bought for the office at like 6pm on thursday.

Hey... I'm super interested in miniatures for a hobby. Can you recommend beginner resources for tools and supplies? Maybe which 3D printer I should eventually try to get... or do I not need one? I'm pretty crafty. I do leatherwork, and I can sew a bit. Thank you. My alt is 'CalicoSweetTea'. ✌🏼
Well! I didn't use a 3D printer for the one I made, although I do own one. Mine is a Creality Ender 3 V2, and while I can use it it's... tricky. And it took me forever to put it together when I got it.
As for the library, I bought a kit off of Amazon and put it together. It came with most of the tools I needed, but I had to supply my own wire cutters, needle nose pliers, ruler, cutting board and exacto knife. And extra electric tape when I messed up the wiring initially. I also used loclite for the glue instead of what came with it, which is also a good glue for fletching arrows.

Creality Ender 3 V2 Neo 3D printer is a further upgrade to the classic most popular Ender 3 machine. It offers silent printing, 16-point automatic bed leveling, a flexible spring sheet, an integrated toolbox, and a build volume that is not small yet not too big. The printer itself is the right size to be easily moved around. All that, with minimal assembly, makes it a strong entry-level machine. Let’s review Ender 3 V2 Neo, tune some slicer software settings, print a few awesome models, and outline the Pros and Cons.
