A Book By Its Cover (Model) (wc: 62,311 || Rated : E || Sterek || No Archival Warnings)
Derek Hale has been a cover model for ten years exclusively for his favorite romance author, the mysterious M. S. Gajos. With the series about to end, Derek takes his last chance to meet them for the first time, only to find out that Gajos (AKA Stiles Stilinski) is a whisky-eyed cynic who doesn’t believe in the love he writes. Sparks fly, both bad and good, and it just so happens that Stiles is looking for a muse—but will Derek be able to keep from falling for him? Or will Stiles’ heart finally melt?
Small Town Logic (wc: 36,118 || Rated : E || Sterek || No Archival Warnings)
Derek Hale is the new Deputy of Beacon Hills, hoping to have a fresh start for himself and his son Eli. What he didn't expect was the owner of the coffee shop to turn his existence upside down. Or The one where Derek's new to town and thinks that Stiles is in a relationship with Jackson and pines for him.
My Mother Told Me (wc: 60,556 || Rated : E || Sterek || Graphic Depictions Of Violence)
Stiles joined the Emissary program to help Alpha wolves settle into their new roles and to follow in his mother’s footsteps. She had always told him he was destined to run with the wolves, but he thought she meant Scott and his pack. Instead, Stiles finds himself sent to Thingvallavatn, Iceland, with Alpha Derek Hale. It's clear the Alpha is hiding a part of him that Stiles can’t reach, but when a monster comes to threaten the pack, it’s always great to have someone in your corner with a little mischief up their sleeve
Werewolves at Twilight (wc: 50,555 || Rated : E || Sterek || Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Underage)
About three things he was absolutely positive. First, Derek Hale was a werewolf. Second, there was a part of him – and Stiles didn’t know how potent that part might be – that desired Stiles as a mate. And third, he was unconditionally and irrevocably turned on by him. or Twilight Saga but Teen Wolf
part-time soulmate, full-time problem (wc: 27,111 || Rated : E || Sterek || Graphic Depictions Of Violence)
Stiles had seen it all in his five years of supernatural shenanigans, but never in his life would he have guessed returning to Derek's old stomping grounds in New York, especially under the guise of Derek's magical Mate. It was going to be an exciting summer.

Ok, so it's been a minute since the Teen Wolf movie came out and I finally have the perspective to think about how I would turn it into a canon-compliant and resource-consistent movie rewrite.
If I’m limited to the actors that signed on and the general plot beats of Allison coming back to life, getting the band back together, using the nemeton in some way, Harris and Eli hale. Here is how I would have done it: (please note I have hindsight and no writing ability and even though I mention Monroe a lot she will not actually need to be on screen to comply with not having her actor in the movie)
We kick off not in Japan, not with Scott, none of that.
Beacon Hills is now a supernatural open town in a county that has spent years dealing with the result of an active nemeton. We imply changes through cut shots, like mystic shops and familiar names on fliers. We use the whole county for the surrounding areas to show off these Suttle changes to known locations. Pictures of the original cast in the trophy cases at the high school, the McCall clinic on an open shot of what was once Deaton’s vet office, Mason and Parrish getting into a squad car outside the station. Hale Mechanics and audio body store (more like an AutoZone vibe to cement it more into the community). Kids getting out of class or practice doing a casual backflip down the stairs and another kid pushing them for “showing off” the jeep driving fast down the main street.
We can have a voice-over explaining the main antagonist of the series, the hunters, and how BH though not completely open has accepted supernaturals in a low-number situation as Monroe spent years building up her militia. They did exactly what the show told us they would do, they followed the beacon to the town and found someplace safe. Monroe and the hunters after the death of the final big bad in season 6 and prolonged investment from the BH pack that we see in the time skip of the last episode, were basically reduced to code breakers and young hunters in the last few years. Everyone we know grew up and used their connections to take them down.
We cut to a flashback of a mass arrest of hunters with a joint sheriff’s department and FBI takedown (this is an illusion to Stiles who will not be in the film because we are sticking to actors who signed on to return)
Then we go back to the present day where we get a bit of a where are they now, how everyone settled into new roles, This is shown to us through little Vignette not just told to us but again I'm not a writer I'm going to sum up. We see Christ and Melissa splitting up as he went back to France to work on further cleaning up and spreading new hunter ideology “we protect those who can’t protect themselves”, Jackson working with other packs internationally to network safety and protection plans and help relocate supernatural after hunter problems (illusions to his comfy life with Ethan and happy overseas), mason and Liam staying intown starting their own careers (Liam opening a dinner and working with a new supernatural who came to town in the years – our new kitsune), Malia returning and working for Derek after spending time overseas and wanted to build a home in the one place she felt human, Lydia starting her own tech company with another illusion to Stiles traveling for FBI work, showing that he is not around a lot but they are, if not still together, still in each other’s lives, Scott setting up his animal clinic and rescue along with our new friends, a couple of werewolves (the two we saw in the opening along with some background people we only need for the scene) that come in and out of the town that Scott takes in, some stay, some move on, but all of them are still pack (that's the vibe we are going for), this would also go to explain that people like Hayden left and Cory might be out of town right now but are still around. This would also help explain our new kitsune as well as an introduction to characters that could connect to Eli. (it’s a movie let’s make the world feel bigger) Eli should be about a year younger or so and we don’t have to explain his parentage but can emphasize that his mother might have been one of those strays affected by either Kate or the Argents or a different hunter group, maybe someone Derek met between 4-6 instead of in the middle of 3a-3b.
We go to the nemeton when Scott or Derek is talking to Deaton or the sheriff about how things have settled and stabilized (this could be like the scene with the fire and how Eli has stolen the jeep again or Scott has just done an animal rescue and is talking to Deaton post) and we see a hooded figure doing some kind of sacrificial ritual at the roots of the stump - we see a girl in the dirt - we see her eyes - Its Allison.
Then we can cut to a similar scene of Argent coming back into town, a little time has passed we get a few scenes of Eli trying to fit in with the other high school kids and not doing great, the sheriff running things around town. We did all the set-up scenes and character introductions in the first third/half with the cutaways to something happening in the background. we have little hints that things have been going wrong or strange, a call from Isaac (not seen) to Chris about Allison, rumors Jackson is hearing about an Argent heir, the sheriff talking to Derek about Stiles comes up in a conversation about how it has been weirdly quiet, Lydia drawing or seeing something weird or arrow related, etc.
The movie is now about finally ending the thing that started this all, hunter involvement, and the main issue is a confused Allison who doesn’t have her memories and was convinced by someone that the BH pack is the enemy and must be destroyed. We watch as the rest of the pack come together to figure out - if she’s back - how she’s back - who brought her back, it's calling back to early seasons 1 and 2 'who done it' with a few twists when we find out Monroe is dead but was dabbling in something weird – this can be what Peter is here for.
We get Chris reuniting with everyone and talking to Scott and Deaton about Allison, with illusions to Isaac still in France. We get Jackson back with more of a reason for being there with the noise he has been hearing as a legitimate reason to think hunters are moving again and the lost argent heir that brings him home. We get Peter being the best and a group of kids, Eli plus some of the other strays we saw in the beginning of the movie, being dragged into a war they all thought was long behind them if they were aware of it at all. (those be our New Teen Wolves) Derek is still a dad, but his kid isn’t scared of being a werewolf or shifting but more embarrassed he can’t shift because there are other slightly older, cooler supers in his life (2) and he can’t talk to his dad, the full shifter, about his problems so he is acting out.
we can still have the group trying to find the nemeton again and we can still have interpersonal relationships, but we make the focus simpler and more human. We get Allison relearning who she is and who she was to all these different people while also setting up a new mystery for these new young wolves that their parents are trying to keep them away from. Allison relearning herself is slower and intercut with everyone not just Scott. The twist being that it really is kinda over, at least with Monroe, but that it's never really over. That Harris was brought back as a test drive for Allison and instead used her to get his own revenge, and then we can end on that ominous plug for a new show that they were pushing.
Idk this is all I’ve really got, I’m not a writer, but can you see it?!
I know it’s a little fanficy but 1 that’s what I’m doing and 2 so was the movie, OMG was it the most fanfic trope thing I’ve ever seen.
I feel like it's something. It will never happen and hindsight is 20/20, we can’t play what-ifs. But if I could, I would have made this movie instead of what we got.
Monroe’s last stand, bringing back people from the dead and manipulating them to do her work for her only for it to blow up in her face with Harris and Allison. The real end to the Argents as hunters with Allison coming back and fully embracing the new Beacon Hills and Scott. Relearning what the show was kind of trying to teach us even if it was doing a super poor job most of the time.
Tell me I’m crazy, I want to hear your thoughts.
I know this is nuts, but I had to write this out and send it into the void before it ate me up inside.

Sterek should have been endgame and Scott needed to be less of a dick.
I wish the writers would stop using Derek as the punching bag. Like I get he was an angry asshole at the start but can you blame him after all that he went through? He should have had a character growth arc and given the chance to be a better alpha instead of making him give it up. I get the symbolism of giving up the power but he should have gotten it back. And we should have seen more of his full shift than what we got. Like the Hales were special because of the full shift and we only see it once? Also he should have gotten his family land back, like it's been in his family for years and he's lost enough he shouldn't have let the county take his land that was fucked up. Even if he never rebuilt, he could have tore the remains down and put up a marker or a tree or something to show they were there and what happened. But to let it become new housing was just fucked up.
I would have like to see Derek and Scott be co-alphas and lead the pack together. They could have had a batman and superman friendship with one of them being broody and the other being hopeful and optimistic.
Stiles should have had magic. I know Dylan O'Brien said he didn't want Stiles to have magic and just be human but come on, he would have been badass at it.
I was never a big fan of Stiles and Lydia because it felt like he was more in love with the image he had of her than of her. Yes he got to know the real Lydia and they fell in love but I still didn't really like it. He was too obsessed with her it felt like he just wore her down or something idk. I know that Dylan said in an interview that Stiles and Lydia would have dated for a while but then realized they were better of as friends, and this was years before the movie came out.
And OMG the movie what the shit was that!?!?!? For all that Scott said he would be the alpha and defend Beacon Hill he left the town for years and still left at the end of the movie. Derek, Peter, Malia, and Jordan are really the only supernaturals left to defend the town. The Hales are the ones protecting their territory. And did they really have to kill Derek in the way they did it. Like fire really? REALLY!?!? And in front of his sixteen year old son. Derek lost his family at sixteen to a fire and now his son Eli loses his dad to a fire at sixteen? Really!?!? Like I hated it, I hated that the whole movie felt like Scott was just reliving his high school glory days. I hate that's Scott got his happy ending at the expense of Derek's life. Derek was good, he was happy with his son, had a home, a good business, was respect in the community, had a good relationship with the remainder of his family and you kill him off? And then hint at the fact that Scott would be the one to 'adopt' Eli, a kid he barely knew, just so that he and Allison could play house and be a happy little family? BULLSHIT!!!!
I read somewhere that Jeff wanted the show to end with Scott and Allison together and Stiles and Lydia together and that their kids would all be best friends. But with Crystal Reed leaving in season 3 that changed things. The movie felt like his way of getting that ending he wanted but Dylan not returning changed things again. But at least Scott got Allison back, so yay? Don't get me wrong I loved Scott and Allison together but Scott was so obsessed with her to the point that he would throw anyone but his mom under the bus for her. And it got annoying very fast even worse was the fact that he didn't really learn anything from it he has just as obsessed with Kira (though maybe not to the same level). The whole bros before hoes thing was non existent for him. I get Scott was supposed to be like a King Arthur kind of figure, you know? Special, good leader, kind, and legendary but Scott was not it. Yea he had his moments where he was really good but he had so many where he wasn't and he never seemed to learn and grow. Like even the BBC Merlin Arthur who started out as a jerk became honorable, just, and a good leader, yea he too had his moments where he regressed but it was still better than Scott.
They should have fixed his relationship with Derek maybe then him taking Eli in would have made more sense. Like Scott hated Derek a lot ,more so than necessary. Yes Derek lied to get Scott to help him take down the alpha (Peter) but Scott acted like Derek was he one who bit him. Scott forgave so many others who had done far worse (deucalion?) But Derek was where he drew the line? Why because he bit three others who chose the bite? I get him being mad about the lies, I get him being mad about Derek's attitude while on the alpha power trip but come on sometimes Scott was just a dick. He was willing to look the other way when Victoria tried to kill him and was ok with keeping quiet about why Derek bit Victoria and let Allison hate derek and attack his pack because he didn't want to cause problems with Allison. No he sucks. We could have had an epic friendship between them but no we got something half-assed and I hate it.
And why the hell did they make Derek basically a True Alpha like two seconds before he died like what the FUCK!?!?!?
I just wished the would have given Scott some character development instead of just making him more powerful.

My Thoughts On Teen Wolf: The Movie
This is COMPLETELY my opinion and if you disagree, that is completely fine.
Unpopular Opinion: I actually really like the movie but that's mainly because I didn't even take it that seriously. It felt more like a comedy to me than it did a drama. I found myself laughing during parts I shouldn't have been laughing at. Eli getting taken by the Oni after he says "I can do this", Lydia yelling Allison's name, Scott's little entry montage when he exits the car before saving the little girl, Mr. Harris' reveal, literally any time Peter spoke, etc.
Most people call it a dumpster fire and a completely different universe from the show but personally, I don't really care.
I HAVE WATCHED THE ENTIRE SERIES BEFORE WATCHING THE MOVIE! So, I am familiar with all of the recurring characters from the series. I will admit, I wanted to see more of Hikari. Her character seemed very interesting. We got to see a little bit of her personality pop out in the beginning of the movie in the restaurant. A little bit of googling tells me that her and Liam are "good friends" and I kinda want to see their friendship more.
I think the only parts that truly disappointed me was Derek's death and the ending. Anyone who watched the show before watching the movie obviously felt a way about Derek dying and that includes me as well. But I didn't take it all that badly. It was more so the fact that his first beta, his uncle, his niece, and his son ALL watched him die and couldn't do anything to stop it. Like, that kinda killed me inside a little bit.
The ending where the guy goes "we've heard plenty of stories about teenage werewolves, there's always a new one" disappointed the hell out of me because they make it seem like there's going to be a sequel or continuation following Eli's storyline. While that would be ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, everybody in the TW fandom and their mother knows that it's not happening and that's the disappointing part. It would be freaking great to see Eli become the wolf his father believed he could be but we aren't getting that and even if it DID hypothetically come to fruition, knowing how most people feel about the writing of the movie, Eli's development wouldn't be done justice.
I get what people mean when they say that the writers completely screwed with Jackson's whole character and made him "dumb." This man's whole supernatural persona and his abilities were an entire plotline for a WHOLE season of the show and he even said that he has claws that can release paralytic venom and somehow, he didn't think to use it to his advantage? Granted, the movie takes place 15 years into the future where most of the characters that had already been established thanks to the show hadn't been in Beacon Hills or dabbled into the supernatural world in over half a decade. Not to mention that the time Jackson's character had exited the show, it was only season 2. So for him, it's almost 20 years. The Nogitsune plot appeared in the second half of Season 3 when he was already gone so he didn't exactly have a clue what he was up against. As far as supernatural ability, that can be excused. However, the naivety is a little... concerning. He was still funny as hell to watch, though.
Scallison amnesia plotline was a little bit mid but the montage of their memories together after Lydia yelled out Allison's name (which I laughed at, by the way) was kinda cute and jogged my memory a bit on the earlier seasons of Teen Wolf. Season 1 Scallison was honestly my favorite era of them and I think for a lot of Scallison shippers as well so seeing that made me a wee bit happy. Personally, I did like Allison better with Isaac but that's another story for another day.
Overall: I like it. But maybe cuz I don't take it all that serious and I just watch it to watch it. Eli must be protected at all costs, I want more Hikari and Liam interactions, let Jackson embrace the kanima completely, and live laugh love Roscoe Stilinski.
This is Luna, logging off!

Why do people not like YA v2?
Mostly, but not entirely, I think the distaste for Young Avengers (2013) comes from a misplaced sense of proprietary nostalgia for the original series/characters, and an unwillingness to meet the challenge of a somewhat dense text that eschews many superhero conventions in favor of form- and genre experimentation. I understand that's not everybody's cup of tea, and the series is far from perfect-- Gillen executes many of these ideas more successfully in other projects-- but nine times out of ten, when people don't like the book, it's because they refuse to engage with it intellectually or in good faith. I'm just going to say it-- the magic systems and intersecting character arcs both require a certain degree of rigor to comprehend, and I can tell, when people talk about the book, that they aren't meeting that challenge.
It's also dated in a lot of ways, which I understand can put people off if they're coming to it for the first time in the 2020s. At the risk of being hypocritical, because this is a bit of nostalgia on my own part, the book just makes more sense if you were actually a college kid in 2013, like I was. A lot of its aesthetic sensibilities-- and I don't just mean the art, but the tone, dialogue, and general pop culture outlook-- are just very of the era. It connected well at the time, at least with the target audience of, to be honest, tumblr kids.
And for the record-- I like McKelvie's artwork. It evolved a lot over the course of his next project, The Wicked + The Divine, but I think YA was a strong showing. I do not see the faults that other people see in it, especially not when it comes to character design. As an example, I see a lot of folks ragging on Billy's look in this series, and it always strikes me as odd because in 2013.... that's what I looked like. I had exactly that hair, I wore an earring just like that, and I walked around campus in black skinny jeans and a galaxy print backpack. Again, I understand that this is dated, but you can't tell me that's not an appropriate design for a nerdy, slightly emo, eighteen year-old millennial gay guy in 2013. I lived it, and I had the black, plastic-rimmed glasses to prove it!
There are other, more valid critiques to be made. It's not a great sequel or continuation of the original series-- it's not supposed to be, but people have a hard time accepting that, and the fact that so much of the story is really just a continuation of the Kid Loki saga can feel a little unfair. Tommy and Eli's exclusion-- the latter of which is wrapped up in editorial red tape that's never been properly explained-- had a lasting negative impact on both characters. I don't think that David and America's depictions are necessarily offensive, but they're not perfect, either, and I understand why people feel driven to call them out. But the thing about books that are over ten years old, is that you have to be able to view them, objectively, as part of a larger picture, and this is where Young Avengers fans struggle. Again, that might make me a hypocrite, considering how I talk about titles like HoM, or writers like Peter David, but that is a very different magnitute of harm and problematic context.
People are entitled to their opinions, but overall, I just find the conversation around this book to be far too subjective and reactive to engage with. I like the series! It came out at exactly the right time for me, I understand and enjoy the supernatural elements, I like the characters, and I, personally, get a lot out of Gillen's esoteric bullshit and top-down relationship with form. If you don't like it, that's fine, but I feel like everyone complains about the wrong things.

> CREEPLING'S RULES
DNI/BEFORE YOU FOLLOW
-- no racists, anti-LGBT+, TERFs, xenophobes, fatphobic and misogynistic people. or just anyone who has hate in their heart. my blog is a safe place so, politely, fuck off.
-- any minors/ageless blogs DNI. i am an adult that writes adult content, and i do not feel comfortable with minors interacting with me.
-- blank blogs also DNI. this cess-pit of a site is full of bots and i'm not taking my chances. plus, it is restrictive interacting with blogless accounts and i like to do that with my followers.
-- if your account involves proana, ed, self-harm, TERF, right-wing politics, or loli/shota, high chances i won't fw you.
-- my fanfics will consist of dark content, smut and kinks. i tag my fanfics accordingly so DO NOT READ if you are uncomfortable with those subjects. please curate your own online experience, and you are free to block me to avoid my content; i won't take it personally.
-- fiction does not equal reality. i may write about certain things, but that does not mean i condone it irl. take that into consideration when reading my fanfics.
-- also have to drop the "i have a life outside fanfiction" type thing, but we all do. i may fall into inactivity from time to time, and that is okay. please do not demand me of my writing for your own consumption. remember i am a real person and deserve to be treated with respect.
REQUESTING INFORMATION
-- i am a majoritly x reader fanfic writer, but i do ships from time to time.
-- when writing reader i keep fem/gn in mind depending on the work. if you request male reader i'll try my hand at it, but full warning i haven't written male reader before.
-- my inbox is always open, but does not necessarily mean requests are open. i am always patient with my works and each request i accept might take a while to complete.
-- if you send a request, please state what you want in the piece. most notably the scenario and fem/gn/male/gen reader. the work will depend on how much i can write and what inspires me, so it can either be a one-shot, drabble or headcanon. i will state at the beginning which one it ends up being.
-- i also have the right to decline requests i do not want to write. whether that be because i do not think i can do it justice or it goes against my rules. if i decline your ask, it is never personal.
-- please refrain from duplicating asks, i always feel bad when i write a request that another writer is also working on. it makes things awkward.

❤️🧡💔 ?
Thanks for the ask! 😄 I'll give both SGU and SGA a go too!
❤️️: Which character do you think is the most egregiously mischaracterized by the fandom?
My kneejerk reaction is Telford. People make (or made rather, when there were more people writing for the fandom) the actions he takes have malicious intent behind them more often than not. I reckon while the things he does might appear cruel to other characters who don't have all the facts, actually making him do things for cruelty's sake is massively OOC. He's completely goal-orientated, which means he will do awful things in order to achieve his desired outcome (e.g. I don't believe he slept with Emily because it would have been counterproductive for the message he was trying to convey, but if sleeping with her had given him the outcome he wanted he would have done it without thinking twice) but he's not going to just hurt people for the fun of it.
For SGA I have to go with Keller, with the stereotypical 'this woman is getting in the way of the popular m/m ship so it's character assassination time!' I was surprised even the Legacy books got in on it with her banning Rodney from seeing female friends after a certain time of day??? Madness. I agree with the popular opinion that she and Ronon had more chemistry and her reasoning for choosing Rodney was a bit dodgy, but it's always the same when the main m/m ship is threatened and I'm tired of it, ya know?
🧡: What is a popular (serious) theory you disagree with?
Been trying to think of a non-Telford answer, but I'm afraid I'm as just as focused on the prize as he is. 😂 I was hugely surprised to find the majority of the fandom believed that Telford slept with Emily. As I said above, I don't think it's a moral problem - he would have 100% done it if it served his purposes imo - but it seems so obvious to me watching the show that he didn't? He's trying to convince her that Young is still cheating on her, so if he waltzes in there and tries to seduce her she'll just put him in the same category as Young and he won't be trustworthy. His whole approach is to prove to her he's 'not like other men' and then she'll feel safe enough with him to believe whatever he says.
Off topic, but I wanna gush about something. Imo sleeping with Emily wouldn't have been the line the brainwashing was unable to break through, but very clearly the baby was the line, as Kiva had no clue that was Young's kid TJ was carrying while she was holding them hostage, as she was about to kill them rather than threaten Young with their deaths (which would have immediately brought the situation to a close lbr). She said she'd read extensive reports on everyone aboard Destiny (which is why she knew Greer wasn't a medic and it was a trap), but Telford clearly hadn't told her about the baby's parentage! Not even the brainwashing could make him do that!
For SGA, I can't actually think of one? I'm not as involved in the SGA community so maybe I'm missing something obvious?
💔: If you had to remove one major character from the series, who would you choose?
Have to admit I'm not terribly keen on Eli. Big 'ah yes this character will be a favourite amongst our Target Audience' energy, because even when there's every recorded statistic to the contrary, many writer's rooms will absolutely flat out refuse to stop feeding themselves the lie that their show is being watched by a majority audience of men. *cough cough* Supernatural
This isn't going to be popular at all, but I guess this is the unpopular opinions game… Michael. I never clicked with him, sorry. 😭

Teen Wolf: The Movie thoughts
***SPOILERS***
Don’t come at me, these are my personal thoughts and opinions. Would love to hear others’ thoughts, so just write your own post and tag me (not like anyone will read this anyway)! And special thanks to @devikafernando who allowed me to comment live directly at her while I watched the movie lol
- what a supernatural/ paranormal shit show
- how did anyone allow this movie to be made? Who approved this?
- fans deserved so much more than this tripe. I am disappointed. There’s better scenarios and storylines on AO3.
- SOOOOO happy to see Colton Haynes came back, love Jackson
- it was bad, but will most likely watch again for the Derek Hale scenes (thank you for coming back Tyler Hoechlin, you carried the fandom for many people)
- Idc who it was, you don’t let anyone drive Stiles’ jeep (and I’m a Derek Hale fan)
- the swearing is completely unnecessary and feels out of place
- Malia and Parrish are interesting, kinda loved it
- aside from glowing eyes and teeth, I felt no Derek Hale presence, more like Clark Kent dad
- halfway through I legit thought Jeff Davis has something against Dylan O’Brien and a huge crush on Crystal Reed. Major imbalance
- No offence to Hikari Zhang, but Cho Arden’s character Kira should have been left out completely (like Isaac Lahey’s was) if she wasn’t doing the movie. I know there was a beef, but replacing her character entirely is immature. If the writers needed a Kitsune, that cop would have been more than efficient.
- the wordplay on Stiles and Eli is a bit entertaining considering three letters from Stiles backwards is Eli
- “Did you see your eyes?” Seriously? For Derek Hale, that is embarrassing. Terrible line. Eli’s comeback wasn’t even worth it
- finally, I imagine Hoechlin told the creators he wasn’t coming back and to write him off. I actually loved the send off and how he died.

It's Friday the 13th! Here's a list of 13 of my favorite scary books.
(If you have any particular triggers you're concerned about, feel free to send me a message about any of these! Please do not risk putting yourself in a bad place! I never mind giving a heads up on this kind of thing.)
General trigger warnings: sexual content, pedophilia, rape/sexual assault, extreme violence, deaths of children, deaths of animals, physical abuse, pregnancy, gore.
1. Let's deal with the reigning monarch first - Stephen King. I'll just let him have one entry for several books, since the guy has written 18 million.
1a. It. I read It, and then immediately read it again, for the first time when I was 12 years old. I carried the book around like a Bible. Not only is it truly scary as hell (the history, the deaths of Edward Corcoran and Patrick Hockstetter, and overall the idea that some things, no matter how far you run, you cannot escape - only try desperately, again, to destroy), it also has some of King's most solid characters, and an ending that isn't a total crap-out. He couldn't write great female characters then or now, but Beverly is far from his worst. And there is that scene near the end, but it's brief and easy enough to skip. 1,200 pages of story managed to work when I was a kid, and they still work now, even looking at the whole differently.
1b. Any of King's short story anthologies. I'd say my favorites are Night Shift, Nightmares and Dreamscapes, and Everything's Eventual, but they're all pretty great. The guy really shines in short form. And I dare you to read "The Jaunt" and not feel at least a little freaked out at the end.
1c. Different Seasons - the stories are far less supernatural, and it works. The four novellas are all tight, and all very different. Apt Pupil is one of the creepiest things I've ever read, and there's nary a ghost or beastie to be found.
1d. Christine, Pet Sematary, Salem's Lot, Desperation/The Regulators - the opposite of the above. These are pure supernatural terror, and a hell of a lot of fun. If Different Seasons is the drama looking for award nominations, these are the slasher flicks you watch with your friends while screaming at the characters and tossing popcorn at the screen. (Cujo's another one, but since it's rabies, it's a little more real-world.)
2. Let the Right One In, John Ajvide Lindqvist - an absolutely terrifying book where the scariest thing is not the vampire. Oscar and Eli are one of the sweetest platonic love stories I've ever read, and the bad guys absolutely get what's coming to them. It's a bleak look at suburban childhood - and desperation for something more.
3. In the Miso Soup, Ryu Murakami - this book sets you up for an uncomfortable time, and only gets worse. Short, tight, and terrifying. Murakami is more well-known for Audition, but I found this one far more disturbing. His stuff generally is not for those with sensitive stomachs.
4. Battle Royale, Koushon Takami - the movie is good. The book is better. Once you get past the slightly rocky translation, this one's going to have your adrenaline going from the very beginning. There's not going to be any Hunger Games-esque changing of rules: of 42 students, only one can survive. (I do not recommend the manga. It's mostly torture porn - sometimes literally. It's more disgusting than frightening, and while that doesn't automatically make me dislike a book - see just above this one! - I felt here that it was an unnecessary addition that actually draws away from the horror of kids forced to kill one another in favor of shock value.)
5. Ghost Story, Peter Straub - if there's ever been a horror writer who could easily have made the jump to awards-winning literary fiction, it was probably Peter Straub. Don't expect easy answers or easier scares here. Ghost Story is a very, very slow burn, where even as answers start to appear, so does a creeping fear you never even noticed until it already has you in its grip.
6. The Ritual, Adam Nevill - okay, I'm one of those who doesn't like the weird stuff that pops up near the end (you'll know it if you get to it), but the first 2/3 of the book? Holy shit, good luck turning the lights off before bed. It's rare that a book terrifies me. This one did. In the best way. Too bad about that last bit, which I mostly find ridiculous. 🤷♀️
7. The Passage, Justin Cronin - another contender for being closer to literary fiction with a veneer of scare. The first part is tighter than the end (and this is only the first part of a trilogy), but the whole is excellent, and the level of character development is as deep as any I've found in horror. When you feel sorrow and kinship even for the monsters (both human and otherwise), you're in good hands. Or bad ones, I suppose! I've read this one, like It, several times despite the extreme length, and it's always a ride.
8. Books of Blood, Clive Barker - short stories from a guy who not only never pulls punches, he'll start hitting harder just when you think you've gotten used to the pain. It has a story called "Midnight Meat Train," for god's sake! Just give it a go. This is pure horror, and you'll find both hardcore splatter and intelligent presentation.
9. The Final Girls Support Group, Grady Hendrix - a lot of fans of Hendrix actually dislike this one, but I found it a ton of fun, even if I also wanted to smack basically all the characters. 😅 It's just dumb fun jumping off of the same dumb fun as the movies that gave us the concept of final girls. If you ever wondered how Laurie or Nancy did after the end of their endless franchises, give this one a go. (If those names mean nothing to you, try Horrorstör instead!)
10. 20th Century Ghosts/Full Throttle/Strange Weather, Joe Hill - like his rather well-known dad, Joe Hill (legally Mr. Joseph Hillstrom King) has the horror gene, and it manifests best in his shorter work. His novels are good, but his quick-punch short stories and novellas are better. (Bonus points that in one story in Strange Weather, his main character is a butch lesbian, and while he clearly tries hard, it's... well. Let's say "a valiant attempt.") If you saw The Black Phone, it's based on one of his stories. (I hear Locke and Key, his comic series, is also amazing, but I haven't read it.)
11. Swan Song, Robert McCammon - Robert McCammon has never gotten much attention outside of horror circles, and I genuinely don't know why! Like Peter Straub and Justin Cronin, McCammon's stuff is more akin to literary fiction than "paperbacks from hell." This one is a take on apocalypse, and it does it amazingly. Many people cite The Stand as one of their favorite Stephen King novels, but I think McCammon did the same idea much, much better. Give it a go! His other books are excellent, too.
12. The Book of Accidents, Chuck Wendig - I went into this one blind, and loved it. It was creepy, the characters are interesting, and it honestly presented twists I never saw coming. Many Wendig fans say Wanderers (and its recent sequel) are better, but I haven't read them yet. They're on my list for this year!
13. The Gone series, Michael Grant (6 volumes, with another 3 in a sequel series) - these are YA, but they hit like a truck. What begins as a veneer of weirdness just gets crazier, bloodier, and darker. It's a quick read, and I swear, once I got past what initially seems like a snooze-fest main character and "meh" plot in the first book, I didn't put them down until I'd finished them all. These books are dark. Grant is also excellent at writing characters often reduced to stereotypes in horror (including female and LGBT+ characters). (As an aside, he [uncredited] helped write the Animorphs books with his wife, so if you liked those, you'll probably enjoy the equally well-developed-but-hard-hitting material in Gone. He and Katherine Applegate are also the parents of a transgender woman that they have fully accepted as a daughter instead of a son, and are vocal advocates of trans rights, as well as the Black Lives Matter movement. Solid people I very much admire!)
Thirteen seems the appropriate number to end on, but if you're looking for more, a few additional names you might seek out: Natsuo Kirino, Scott Thomas, Dan Simmons, Stephen Graham Jones, Nick Cutter*, Otsuichi, Poppy Z. Brite*, Ronald Malfi, Jason Pargin, Shaun Hutson*, Lee Mountford*, Jack Ketchum*, John Saul, Kelly Link, Ramsey Campbell, Alma Katsu, Katherine Dunn, Lee Mandelo, Paul Tremblay, Gretchen Felker-Martin*, Shirley Jackson, Max Brooks, Graham Masterton, Jeff Strand, Lisa Tuttle, Tim Lebbon, James Herbert, Josh Malerman, Catriona Ward, Richard Chizmar, Kealan Patrick Burke, Brian James Freeman, Bentley Little, Simon Clark, William Peter Blatty, Norman Partridge. Also check out the publications of Cemetery Dance and Valancourt Books!
*Extreme content warning
I will not and will never insult your intelligence by recommending Dean Koontz.
Happy chills! 😁

‘Smallville’ Standouts Rosenbaum, Durance, Vandervoort Plus Esposito, Coleman Added To Fan Expo Cleveland Lineup
Three beloved stars from the hugely popular series “Smallville,” Michael Rosenbaum, Erica Durance, and Laura Vandervoort, are among six additions to the FAN EXPO Cleveland lineup, convention organizers announced today. Also committing to the celebrity roster for the annual extravaganza, March 21-23, 2025, at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland, are Giancarlo Esposito (“The Mandalorian”), Jenna Coleman (“Doctor Who”) and Aidan Scott (“One Piece”).
The three “Smallville” stars join Tom Welling in the reunion of the hit series that ran from 2001-2011 on The WB then The CW networks. Rosenbaum starred in the role of “Lex Luthor” on "Smallville" and most recently as the character “Buddy Dobbs” on the TV Land series "Impastor." He is also known for voicing “Wally West / The Flash” on the popular animated series "Justice League" and "Justice League Unlimited."
Best known for her role as “Lois Lane” in "Smallville,” Durance followed up her successful seven-year run on the DC series with an even bigger project -- the lead on the five-year run of the NBC and CTV drama "Saving Hope," which she also produced. She is now a regular on the popular holiday TV movie circuit.
The versatile Vandervoort, for whom “Supergirl” on “Smallville” and “Lisa” on “V” are the most popular roles, also had a three-year run as the headliner on the werewolf drama “Bitten” and has had a variety of other acting and voice acting roles, including spots on “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Sullivan’s Crossing” and numerous holiday TV movies.
The prolific veteran film, television and stage actor, director and producer Esposito, in addition to his role as “Moff Gideon” on the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” is well known by television audiences for his iconic portrayal of drug kingpin “Gus Fring” in AMC’s critically acclaimed award-winning series “Breaking Bad.” Some of Esposito’s most memorable performances can be seen in films such as Rabbit Hole, The Usual Suspects, Smoke, The Last Holiday and Spike Lee’s films Do the Right Thing, Mo’ Better Blues, School Daze and Malcolm X.
Coleman, who played “Clara Oswald,” the occasional "travelling assistant" to the Eleventh Doctor in the BBC series “Doctor Who,” is also familiar to Marvel comics fans as Bucky’s girlfriend in the hit film Captain America: The First Avenger. She had the title role in British TV series “Victoria” and a supporting spot on the feature film Me Before You and has since had lead roles in Klokkenluider, “Wilderness” and “The Sandman.”
Scott stars as “Helmeppo” in the current Netflix adventure series “One Piece.” He appeared in the title role of the History Channel mini-series “Theodore Roosevelt” after portraying deputy clerk “James Matheny” in the network’s “Abraham Lincoln” mini-series.
The six are added to a promising early FAN EXPO Cleveland lineup that already includes Welling, Jared Padalecki (“Supernatural”), Grant Gustin (“The Flash”), “Daredevil” standout Charlie Cox and legendary director Eli Roth (Thanksgiving, Cabin Fever) announced last month.
FAN EXPO Cleveland features the biggest and best in pop culture: movies, TV, music, artists, writers, exhibitors, and cosplay, with three full days of themed programming to satisfy every fandom.

Fruit ask ♡: 🫐🍍🍑
Thanks for asking @datshitrandom 💖💖💖
🫐 What’s your favorite underrated thing in your fandom? (A ship that only you seem to write for, a character there’s almost no fics about, a trope that criminally hasn’t been written yet, etc.)
OMG - A ship that I never knew existed, and never would I ever thought would have worked or that I ever would have wanted . . but once I read some stuff for it - I'm so there: Sebastian Smythe/Adam Crawford. If you haven't read any of these, give them a try because they sold me on this pairing ( esp the first series listed below):
I so want more with these boys together and one day I'm going to write something for these two. 💖💖
****
🍍 What kind of AUs do you like? Are there any AUs you hate or just generally have beef with?
I'm pretty openminded about AUs as a writer - I really love them, to be honest. I think I've written mostly in AUs . . maybe I have written only one fic thats closest to Glee canon - with the kids all in highschool . .etc.
As a reader: I was just thinking about it ( and of my bookmarks) and I love College/University AUs, Fantasy/Sci Fi AUs, D/s Aus, Historical Fiction AUs, Supernatural AUs, Musician fics, Fireman fics, Restaurant/CoffeeHouse fics, BadBoy fics (wait, are some of these more tropes than AUs? 😂😂.) I wouldn't say I hate, but I don't tend to read many distopian AUs . . but then, I don't tend to read to read those types of stories IRL either. So I probably wouldn't take a stab at writing them.
****
🍑 If you could make a connection between your favorite character and another work you care about (whether a crossover/fusion or a wonderfully “pretentious” literary reference) what would it be? How would it work?
Haven't thought of it before . . but oh my goodness (when I saw "pretentious literary reference" )- please tell me someone has written a Klaine/Jane Eyre crossover AU or something or other.
Can't you picture it:
Blaine as the dark, brooding Mr Rochester type character - master of Dalton Hall.
Kurt being hired as Jane Eyre was to be a tutor for Blaine's ward(s) - the child (ren) of his diseased brother Cooper.
But Blaine is hiding a secret who knows what that is . . . a mad husband locked in the attic like in the novel ( Sebastian? Eli?)
Make it all gothic romance and everything - I think that would be pretty awesome, right? I'd read it!
****
This was fun! Thanks again for the asks!
For anyone else who may want to play . . . the fruit emoji ask game.

HOMEBIRDS: Denise Perez Acosta
‘It was a better smile, a bigger one. But it didn’t reach his eyes. It was all politeness, all formality. It wasn’t him.’
[Excerpt below the cut!]
“Mom?”
“Darling!” Whipping the pan from the cabinet, she brushed the straggling hair from her flushed forehead and smiled. “David’s just gone to the store to pick up some eggs, I was so sure I’d bought them - coffee?”
“Yeah, sure. Can I talk to you?”
“Sit down.” She poured out a splash of black coffee and handed it over. She didn’t like to waste good coffee - and she knew Denise wouldn’t finish a full cup. She took it and sipped.
I just feel...overwhelmed,” she said, sipping again. “There’s a lot going on right now with the group. “There’s a guy at school, and I just- I don’t know. I feel like I’m the only one with my eyes open. Something’s going on.”
“Something serious?”
“I don’t want to worry you, I just - I don’t know if it’s serious. Maybe? I don’t know. I hope not.” She knocked back the last of her coffee. “But the others aren’t listening to me. At least that’s how it feels, and it’s starting to grate on me.”
“I think you should tell the others how you feel.”
“I have.”
“Well, tell them again. Why not talk to Eli about it, on the way to school today? I’m sure he’ll listen to you. God knows you two are joined at the hip.”
“I don’t know if I can.” She stood so fast her chair scraped back against the tiles. She couldn’t stand the sound. But she’d take it over sitting any longer. “You haven’t seen him lately, Mom. He’s so...drained.” She picked up her bag. “Finding out about his powers just messed him up, what with his dad and everything. It’s always on his mind, I can tell by him. He won’t even hear me.”
“Darling…”
“Does David know? Does he know, about me?”
“No, he doesn’t. And we won’t tell him if you don’t want to. Not until you’re ready.”
“Right. Okay.” Maybe she could talk to someone. Maybe she’d just have to make them listen. If only she were a telepath. “Thanks, Mama.”
She rode down the elevator to the parking garage and headed towards the car. Eli was already there, hands in his pockets, pale face grey and washed out under the unflattering lights.
“Morning, baby,” she said, squeezing his arm and pecking his shoulder. He turned towards her with the barest of smiles, leaning in and kissing her head. She felt him linger there for a second, smelling her shampoo.
“You look tired,” she said, when he didn’t pull away. “Are you okay?”
“Sure, yeah. I’m fine.” He pulled away then and reached for the passenger side door. “We should get going.”
It wasn’t until they were inside the car that he confessed, “I guess I haven’t been sleeping a whole lot. But it’s nothing. Just restless.”
She turned on the engine before giving him one last glance. He had already leaned back against the window, chin resting on the back of his hand.
“What about you?” he asked, looking towards her with a better smile, a bigger one. But it didn’t reach his eyes. It was all politeness, all formality. It wasn’t him.
She pulled out of the space. “I’m fine,” she said, eyes on the lane as she drove towards the exit. “Doing fine.”
