eCom Hacks Academy Review

eCom Hacks Academy Review (Jared Goetz Course)

Today, we’ll be reviewing a course by Jared Goetz, which is sold as a “dropsurfing” course instead of your standard dropshipping. That just means it focuses on finding the best-selling items right now.

I might have been doing dropshipping wrong my entire life, but I’m fairly sure that finding best-sellers is always the goal for any eCommerce. It’s the purpose of dropshipping itself, so that doesn’t tell me anything that would set it apart from other courses.

That means we’ll have to go into the content and find out.

Who’s the author?

OK, Jared definitely isn’t a nobody. He’s been a featured guest on both CNBC and Entrepreneur.com. He surely knows how to run his life, but that still doesn’t mean a course by him is a no-brainer; he might not be a good teacher.

His store was known as the fastest growing store on Shopify back in 2017, and while that’s a good sign as well, it’s been a while since then, and good businessmen aren’t always good mentors.

So let’s see if he can translate that into his course.

Reviewing eCom Hacks Academy

Structure

The first module shows Jared logging into his Shopify account and (of course) showing you his numbers. I guess some people might see it as inspiration, though, so I won’t complain.

He then goes into successful products in general. He places quite the importance on testing your products before choosing, and that’s definitely a good advice.

Finally, you’re shown how you set up your store on the platform, getting your domain and phone number, choosing payment channels, support email, rules, and your meta description.

There’s nothing special, but it’s a good foundation.

Store setup

The 2nd module is quite big, and it offers 16 different videos. He recommends using Shoptimized in one of his video, which is a very good theme, but it can cost you quite a bit. The single license costs $167, and getting it for 10 stores costs you $597.

It’s a great theme, but it doesn’t mean it’ll give you the same $5,000,000 it gave to Jared. If you’re on a tight budget, eCom Turbo offers pretty much the same features, and it’s much cheaper.

Other videos explain how to set up email sequences for abandoned carts, creating a FAQ page, upsells, reviews, and free shipping. There are some videos on how to set up Shoptimized, but they’ll mostly be useful only if you get that theme.

Products

This module is just an overview of the features you want in your products before going into more detail later. This section is quite high-leveled, so it’s good content.

However, the rest of the module focuses on more technical stuff that you can find on YouTube: adding products into your website, where you can find these products, and how to fulfill orders.

Marketing

This module focuses on Facebook Ads, and while it’s a vital approach, it’s always important to take advantage of all the methods you can.

You have 14 videos in this module, and some videos feature Jake Tenenbaum.

You can expect to learn the basics: setting up your page on Facebook and your business manager and ads account. It then goes into more advanced content like structuring your campaigns and a few testing techniques.

It finally teaches you how to scale your marketing and a few more advanced strategies like manual bidding, creating custom and lookalike audiences, and intersecting.

It’s a pretty good section, but again, it’s just Facebook Ads. You can pay less for a course like eCom Elites and learn about Google, Instagram, Pinterest, and even bots.

Bonuses

The bonuses are nothing out of the ordinary: you get some content about building your list of suppliers, hiring virtual assistants, and some email templates for abandoned carts.

There’s a nice little bit on how to get an 800 number, though, so that’s a cool addition not often seen.

Final Verdict

Is It Worth It? Final Verdict

Overall, it’s not enough for it to be asking such an inflated price. The content is good, and if you’re a fan of Jared’s classes, then you might even enjoy this course.

However, you’ll most likely feel disappointed after you finish it because of how much content it’s lacking.
