Part I
As the tumultuous winds of the Archon War raged on, I found myself amidst the chaos, my energy waning with each passing moment. The deafening cacophony of battle surrounded me, the anguished cries of the people mingling with the clash of steel and the thunderous rumble of magic. Dust and debris filled the air, obscuring my vision as I fought tirelessly to protect those caught in the crossfire. Yet, despite my efforts, the overwhelming tide of conflict threatened to engulf me, leaving me gasping for breath amidst the swirling chaos.
As I battled against the relentless onslaught of enemies, my senses heightened by the intensity of the conflict, a sudden eruption caught my attention. "Shit," I muttered under my breath, instinctively bracing myself for the impact. In a blur of motion, a streak of vibrant teal green streaked past me, accompanied by a rush of wind that seemed to carry the very essence of speed itself. The figure, cloaked in that ethereal hue, collided with the earth in a tumultuous crash, creating its own miniature explosion upon impact.
In an instant, I recognized the silhouette—a fellow adeptus, I was not quite one myself, a half adeptus, among those with whom I had honed my skills in the art of combat. Yet, our acquaintance remained distant, forged merely through shared trials under the watchful gaze of the divine. Bound by the mandates of the cruel Archon, our duty eclipsed personal bonds, compelling us to carry out deeds that defied our very principles.
With swift movements, I dashed forward, leaving a trail of shimmering hydro particles in my wake. Gently, I began to clear the debris that trapped the figure, helping them to rise. Yet, before we could even register relief, another deafening explosion rent the air, triggering the collapse of towering mountains. The accompanying adepti, valiant protectors of Liyue, were mercilessly overwhelmed by the relentless force. "NO!" cried the figure, consumed by despair, their pain eclipsing any acknowledgment of my presence.
"Alatus, get out NOW!" commanded Bosacius, an adeptus endowed with the power of electro, just moments before succumbing to the crushing force of impending demise.
Startled from my slumber, I was abruptly jolted awake by the presence of a floating figure- Paimon, and concerned Lumine, standing at my bedside. Paimon's gentle voice broke the silence, expressing worry: "Are you alright? Another nightmare, huh? Who is Alatus?" Overwhelmed by her inquiries, I struggled to find my bearings, emerging from the depths of my most vivid dream yet. Its resonance echoed as if the events of a millennium past had unfolded mere moments ago.
"Alatus..." I whispered, the name of a distant figure from a bygone era escaping my lips, yet lost in the mists of time. Paimon's puzzled expression mirrored my own inner turmoil as I sought to comfort her. "It's nothing, just recurring nightmares of my past," I reassured them, my smile masking the lingering shadows of memories long past. With a gentle gaze, I sought to convey to both Paimon and Lumine that despite the haunting echoes of my history, I remained fine in the present moment.
Paimon gently grasps your hand, urging you to rise from your bed, thoug you take the initiative to stand on your own accord, making it easier for her. With a playful tone, Paimon suggests, "Come on, Y/N! How about we distract you from your thoughts and treat you to a meal at Wangshu Inn? It's on Lumine!" Paimon's mischievous smirk is met with a sarcastically perplexed expression from Lumine.
With a warm smile, I graciously accept their kind offer. As we leisurely stroll through the bustling streets of Liyue, we engage in lively conversation, all the while marveling at the splendor of the cityscape. Lumine initiates the dialogue, her expression inviting. "So, Y/N, with the Lantern Rite approaching, do you have any plans?" Her smile hints at an unspoken invitation, one that I eagerly interpret as a desire to accompany me to the festival.
"I do not have any plans," I chuckled softly, feeling a hint of embarrassment at the realization that I had been contemplating spending the most beautiful event in Liyue alone. "I suppose I would love to accompany you," I admitted, grateful for the opportunity to share in the festivities with Lumine and Paimon by my side.
As we neared Wangshu Inn, an uneasy sensation began to creep over me, my heightened senses as a vision wielder amplifying the bustling energy around us. Despite feeling overwhelmed, I brushed off my unease, reminding myself that it was merely my imagination running wild. "It's nothing," I reassured myself inwardly, determined to overcome my apprehensions. "I need to learn to be comfortable in crowded places and not let irrational fears take hold."
As we took our seats at a table in Wangshu Inn, accompanied by Paimon and Lumine, Verr Goldet handed us our menus with a smile. But as I scanned the offerings, an uneasy feeling crept over me. It was as if a sense of impending danger lurked nearby, despite the relatively quiet atmosphere of the restaurant. I couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, even though there were only a few other diners around—a sensation I had never experienced in public before.
I jumped up, earning surprised looks from Lumine and Paimon. "Nah, this won't do," I blurted out, my distress evident as I stood. "Let's hit up Third-Round Knockout instead!!," I suggested, punctuating my words with an awkward chuckle and a sheepish smile, hoping to dodge any questions about my sudden change of plans.
As you departed, Verr Goldet seemed puzzled by your suddenly vacant table, but found a small pouch of mora left behind as a token of appreciation. As you three made your way back to Liyue, you made a concerted effort to study the building of Wangshu Inn from afar as best you could. And to your surprise, there was something all the way up on the roof of the building. "Surely no one is able to get that high" I brushed off, as I turned back, Paimon, ever observant, noticed your frequent glances behind you and your unusually subdued demeanor, but wisely chose not to press for answers.
As I stepped into the tavern, Zhongli's presence caught my eye. I knew him as a familiar face from the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, but little did I know, he held memories of me from a time long past. His gaze, filled with a hint of recognition, met mine, though I remained unaware of our shared history from the Archon War. Despite my limited knowledge, there was an unspoken connection between us, one that transcended our current acquaintance and hinted at a deeper bond forged in the crucible of ancient conflicts
Paimon's voice rang out excitedly, breaking the momentary silence. "Lumine, Y/N, it's Mister Zhongli! Let's go say hi!" Her enthusiasm was palpable as she urged us to greet Zhongli.
"Ah, Lumine, Y/N, and Paimon," Zhongli greeted us with a measured tone, his demeanor serene yet enigmatic. "A fortuitous encounter indeed. Pray tell, what brings you to this humble establishment?"
Paimon interjected with a hint of exasperation, "Eh?! I never understand you, Zhongli! You always use those big words Paimon can't wrap her head around!" A chorus of laughter erupted from Lumine and me, while Zhongli offered a gentle smirk in response, his eyes twinkling with amusement as he took a leisurely sip of his tea.
"I deemed it fitting to take respite within the confines of this establishment," Zhongli began, his voice carrying a hint of contemplation. "And lo, what a fortuitous encounter it is to behold the presence of Lumine, Y/N, and the ever-vibrant Paimon within these walls. Truly, your company brings a welcome spark to this humble tavern." His eyes glimmered with a subtle excitement as he acknowledged our presence, a rare glimpse of genuine pleasure amidst his usual composed demeanor.
Zhongli's keen gaze lingered on you, noticing the subtle signs of distress and disassociation clouding your thoughts. For some time, he knew you remembered some details, though he had contemplated revealing the truth about your past—a tale of being a half-adeptus, half-human, who had once risked her mortality to protect an immortal Yaksha. It was a story of sacrifice, of being granted a second chance at life by the Archons, with memories of the past allegedly erased. As he observed your troubled state, Zhongli wrestled with the decision, knowing that the revelation could bring clarity but also upheaval to your fragile sense of identity.
"So... Y/N," Zhongli began, his measured tone instilling a sense of anticipation tinged with anxiety. His piercing gaze seemed to penetrate through the facade, causing a flutter of unease within me. "What is he going to say?" I thought, feeling the weight of his scrutiny. "He sees right through me, doesn't he? Shit, I need to think of something..." My mind raced, scrambling to concoct a plausible response to his probing inquiry.

Deep dives into folklore: Apocalpses
The apocalypse, or the end of the world, has been a recurring theme across a wide range of mythologies, cultures, and folklore throughout history. These apocalyptic narratives offer insight into the beliefs, fears, and values of different societies. They explore how these cultures understood the world around them and how they sought to explain the end of life as they knew it. Despite the differences in cultural contexts, there are notable similarities and differences between apocalyptic depictions across various traditions. These narratives often serve as cautionary tales and reflections on human nature, societal anxieties, and cosmic cycles.
Similarities in Apocalyptic Narratives
1. Catastrophic Events:
Most apocalyptic stories involve some form of catastrophic event that brings about the end of the world. These can include natural disasters (such as floods, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions), celestial phenomena (such as eclipses and comets), or even supernatural events. For example, in the Hebrew Bible, the story of Noah's Ark describes a great flood sent by God to cleanse the world of sin. Similarly, in Norse mythology, Ragnarök involves a great battle and cataclysmic events that lead to the destruction of the world.
2. Moral Judgment and Divine Retribution:
Many apocalyptic narratives involve a sense of divine judgment or retribution for human wrongdoing. The end of the world is often portrayed as a consequence of humanity's moral failings. For instance, the Book of Revelation in the New Testament describes a final judgment where the righteous are rewarded and the wicked are punished.
3. Cycles of Creation and Destruction:
In several cultures, apocalyptic events are seen as part of a larger cycle of creation and destruction. After the world ends, a new world or era may emerge. This is evident in Hindu mythology, where the concept of yugas (ages) describes a cycle of creation and destruction. The Kali Yuga, the current age, is expected to end with a cataclysmic event before a new age begins.
4. Heroes and Survivors:
Many apocalyptic stories feature heroes or survivors who play a key role in the narrative. These individuals often represent the best of humanity and may carry forward the legacy of the old world into a new one. For example, in Greek mythology, Deucalion and Pyrrha survive a great flood and repopulate the earth.
Differences in Apocalyptic Narratives
1. Cultural Context:
Apocalyptic narratives often reflect the specific concerns and values of the culture from which they originate. For example, the biblical flood narrative can be seen as a warning against moral decay and disobedience to divine law. In contrast, the Norse myth of Ragnarök emphasizes themes of fate, heroism, and the cyclical nature of existence.
2. Diverse Agents of Destruction:
The agents of destruction vary across different cultures. In some traditions, the apocalypse is triggered by gods or supernatural beings (e.g., the Norse gods in Ragnarök). In others, natural disasters or human actions play a central role (e.g., the flood in the Hebrew Bible or the destruction of Atlantis in Greek mythology).
3. Outcome and Resolution:
The outcomes of apocalyptic narratives can differ widely. Some stories end with a new beginning or rebirth (e.g., the Hindu concept of a new yuga following the Kali Yuga). Others conclude with finality, suggesting the end of all existence (e.g., some interpretations of the Book of Revelation).
Societal Impacts and Influences
1. Reflection of Anxieties:
Apocalyptic narratives often reflect societal anxieties and fears about the future. They may serve as cautionary tales that highlight the consequences of moral decay, environmental destruction, or other perceived threats.
2. Moral and Ethical Lessons:
These stories often carry moral and ethical lessons about human behavior. They may encourage individuals to lead righteous lives, respect nature, or avoid hubris.
3. Cultural Identity and Continuity:
Apocalyptic narratives contribute to a culture's identity by providing a shared story that explains the past and envisions the future. They often affirm cultural values and reinforce a sense of continuity.
4. Influence on Art and Media:
Apocalyptic themes have influenced art, literature, film, and other forms of media across the world. These stories continue to inspire creators, providing a rich source of material for exploration and reinterpretation.
In conclusion, apocalyptic narratives across different mythologies, cultures, and folklore offer valuable insights into human nature and societal concerns. While these stories may differ in their specifics, they share common themes of destruction, judgment, and rebirth. They continue to resonate with modern audiences, reflecting ongoing fears and hopes about the future of humanity.

Peace in the present
Things are kind of scary right now.
Look at all of the crazy things that people did and said in the run up to yesterday’s eclipse.
Even if you knew nothing about all of the actual reasons to be worried in the world. the fact that people were having such unhinged reactions to an astronomical event (one that recurs somewhere on the planet every 18 months) is an unmistakable sign.
And that’s before you get into personal crises or anything that’s directly impacting people.
Of course, the people who were the loudest about the eclipse aren’t special. They were just venting their fears.
For the rest of us – the ones who kept our anxieties to ourselves – the people who were spouting nonsense are just the canaries in the coal mine.
Because things actually are kind of scary right now.
So much has been upended. Or is in flux. We’re left wondering what will happen next. Trying to figure out what we should do.
What to do? We’ve got some options.
We can stare backward. Desperate to go back to something we thought was normal, something we took for granted. Clinging to how things were. Idealizing it, warts and all.
Even though – truth be told – when we were in it, we did nothing but complain about it.
We can stare forward. Desperate to control what we don’t understand.
Trying to figure out what it all means like Nicodemus in today’s Gospel. In fear of a thousand ways that things could get even worse. Or never happen.
Even though – if we’re honest – all we’re doing is making ourselves more and more miserable.
Or we can be here. In the present. The only part of time that we can ever experience the way that God experiences all of time. The eternal present. Where everything is possible.
Indeed, it’s the only time when anything is possible.
The impulse that God has given you to reach out to someone who’s lonely?
The only time you can do something about it is in the present.
The spirit that God has put in you to help someone who needs help getting prescriptions or groceries?
The only time you can do something about it is in the present.
If you’re looking for the peace of God in all of this, it starts with things like that.
And it starts here. In the present.
The only time when anything is possible.
Because the present is where God is.
And God is waiting for you.

The Importance of Eclipses in natal and transit Chart
As I mentioned months ago, eclipses symbolize moments when things are brought to the surface and take center stage.
It's the moment of the Shadow passing through the Light, drawing attention. It's a moment of integrating Light and Shadow (which is what we aim for).
However, if we're talking about a solar eclipse, the Shadow usually takes up more space than the Light, but the light still appears to show this power.
While lunar eclipses bring a kind of climax, intensity, increase, and clarity to an issue, partly because they occur during the Full Moon, which already carries that meaning,
solar eclipses bring the idea of beginnings, opportunities, rejuvenation, a focus on things that involve only you, endings, and beginnings. The moment of the solar eclipse is a moment when it is seen that behind the darkness of the New Moon, there is the light of the Sun pointing to something more warm.
An energy distribution that takes both into account - the internal and the external, the Light and the Shadow. Therefore, I understand that solar eclipses also represent integration.
We will have a Solar Eclipse on October 14, 2023 (a specific post about the effects of the phenomenon will be posted later). This means beginnings & this Light-Shadow aspect will come with greater force. And how will this manifest, Paty?
In the Aries-Libra axis, as the Sun is in Libra, it will greatly affect those with Libra in their charts and those with Aries strongly activated in their charts as well!
<MEANINGS>
Solar
Solar eclipses are symbolic of beginnings and fresh starts.
Solar eclipses are primarily Sun-centered, as they involve the Moon blocking the Sun. The Sun represents the ego, self-expression, and conscious awareness in astrology.
Solar eclipses can influence personal goals, ambitions, and self-image. They often bring changes or developments in one's life direction.
They represent a powerful surge of energy and a chance to initiate change or set new goals related to the house in which the eclipse occurs.
Lunar
Lunar eclipses are more associated with inner reflection and emotional processes. They can reveal hidden emotions and inner conflicts. They are associated with culmination and release. They often mark the culmination of efforts and a time for letting go of what no longer serves you.
Lunar eclipses can also illuminate hidden or subconscious issues, allowing you to address and resolve them.
Lunar eclipses often have an impact on relationships, family dynamics, and emotional well-being. They can bring closure, resolution, or revelations in these areas.
< IMPORTANCE IN NATAL AND TRANSIT CHARTS >
General
The intensity of eclipse effects can vary, but they are typically more potent when they closely aspect natal planets or angles.
Eclipses can take time to manifest their full effects, sometimes spanning months before and after the exact eclipse date.
I consider the North and South Nodes in the natal and transit charts in relation to eclipses. The North Node represents your life's path and growth, while the South Node represents what you need to release.
The house placements and aspects of natal planets in relation to the eclipse are essential in understanding how they will manifest in your life.
Pay attention to the eclipse cycles (Saros series) and their recurrence in your chart, as they can provide insights into recurring life themes.
Remember that while eclipses can be powerful indicators of change, they're just one piece of the astrological puzzle. The entire natal chart, should be considered for a comprehensive interpretation of an individual's life and experiences.
Eclipses, both solar and lunar, have significant astrological implications in natal charts and transit charts. These celestial events can mark important turning points in an individual's life and often bring about profound changes and opportunities for growth.
Solar eclipses represent the new, the fresh, beginnings and the start of a new cycle.
Natal - Solar Eclipse
If in the moment you born, a solar eclipse closely aspects a planet or point in your natal chart (especially the Sun, Moon, or angles), it can signify a major shift or transformation related to the energy of that planet or point.
Individuals born during a solar eclipse are thought to have an unusual or unique life path. They may experience events or circumstances that set them apart from others. This can manifest as a strong sense of purpose, a calling, or a mission in life that is distinct from the norm.
Solar eclipses mark new beginnings and endings. Those born during a solar eclipse may find that their lives are marked by dramatic changes, transformations, or unexpected events. They are often seen as catalysts for personal growth and evolution.
Transit - Solar Eclipse
Opportunities and Initiatives: When a solar eclipse transits your natal chart, it signifies a period of opportunity and the potential for significant changes or new projects. It's a time to take initiative and set intentions.
Decision Points: Solar eclipse transits often coincide with important decision points in your life, prompting you to take action and make choices that align with your long-term goals.
Unveiling Potential: They can unveil your hidden potential and talents, encouraging you to step into a new role or express yourself in a different way.
Solar eclipses often highlight aspects of your identity, creativity, and self-expression. The energy of the Sun is being temporarily obscured, allowing you to explore hidden or unexpressed facets of your personality. The shadow side that I mentioned before.
They symbolize a transformative process, where old patterns or situations associated with the eclipse's house are disrupted, making way for growth and evolution.
When a solar eclipse transits a planet or angle in your natal chart, it can bring significant events and changes related to that planet's energies. For example, if it hits your natal Mars, you may find a surge in energy and motivation.
If a solar eclipse transit closely aspects a planet or point in your natal chart (especially the Sun, Moon, or angles), it can signify a major shift or transformation related to the energy of that planet or point.
The house in which the solar eclipse sign falls will indicate the area of life most affected by the eclipse. For example, if it falls in your 7th house, it may influence your relationships, while the 10th house could affect your career.
Solar eclipse transits often signal opportunities for growth, but they can also bring challenges and the need to make important decisions.
Natal - Lunar Eclipse
Lunar eclipses are associated with endings, culmination, and emotional release. If a lunar eclipse closely aspects a planet or point in your natal chart (especially the Moon), it may indicate you have a sense of closure or a culmination of emotions related to that planet.
Lunar eclipses are often seen as a moment when the hidden or shadow aspects of the psyche are brought to light. Individuals born during a lunar eclipse may have a heightened awareness of their subconscious mind and emotions. They may be more in tune with their dreams, intuition, and the mysteries of life.
People born during a lunar eclipse may have a strong drive to explore and understand their unconscious patterns and behaviors. This can lead to personal growth and self-discovery.
Lunar eclipses are associated with the Moon, which is linked to psychic and intuitive abilities. Those born during a lunar eclipse may have an innate gift for divination, psychic perception, or understanding the hidden aspects of life.
The house in which the lunar eclipse falls will highlight the area of your life where you need to let go, finalize something, or make emotional adjustments.
Transit - Lunar Eclipse
When a lunar eclipse transits a planet or angle in your natal chart, it often brings issues related to that planet to the forefront, prompting you to make necessary changes and adjustments.
Culmination and Release: Lunar eclipses symbolize the culmination of emotional cycles and the need for release. They often mark the completion of a chapter in your life, particularly related to the house in which the eclipse occurs.
Emotional Awareness: These eclipses illuminate deep-seated emotions, bringing them to your conscious awareness. It's a time to address and resolve emotional issues and make necessary adjustments.
Letting Go: Lunar eclipses encourage you to let go of what no longer serves you, whether it's a relationship, habit, or belief. They symbolize a period of emotional cleansing and closure.
Turning Points: Lunar eclipse transits signify significant turning points and a need to make choices that align with your emotional well-being and inner growth.
Bringing Hidden Matters to Light: Just as the Moon's light is temporarily obscured during a lunar eclipse, these transits can bring hidden matters to the surface, making you aware of issues that may have been buried or ignored.
Emotional Healing: Lunar eclipses in transit often prompt you to focus on emotional healing and balancing your inner world. They encourage you to make necessary adjustments for your overall well-being.
In both natal and transit charts, eclipses act as cosmic triggers, highlighting specific areas of life and aspects of the self. The symbolism of eclipses involves a delicate dance of light and shadow, signifying the interplay of conscious and unconscious forces in your life.
How you experience the impact of eclipses depends on the context of your birth chart and the timing of eclipse transits, making them a fascinating and significant component of astrological interpretation.
The house in which the lunar eclipse falls will highlight the area of your life where you need to let go, finalize something, or make emotional adjustments.

do you think guts would still forgive griffith even after everything he did? and for 'everything' I mean casca's rape too
I said what I said!
Longer answer: I mean, yeah. I've written somewhat extensively about my belief that Guts would absolutely forgive Griffith if given a decent reason to (by which I mean validation and remorse). Obviously when I wrote those things I was aware of the full events of the Eclipse, and aware that Guts is aware of them, so yeah, I do. That doesn't mean he will, that's all down to plot turns.
If you're tripping over "but what about the rape' then I'm not sure I can really bridge that gap for you, but...
Guts' level of anger is never linked to moral outrage, it's linked to how hurt he feels, and that can be very variable. We've already seen that he's capable of letting go of it because that was literally his first instinct upon seeing Griffith in his humanesque form, he just talked himself back into being mad. But even then when Griffith showed up he spent half the time trying to wring remorse out of him. We also know via Miura's comment that the Eclipse would eventually lose its sting for him if Casca weren't around, point being we also know he can and would let go of it if the wound weren't constantly being kept open. Which brings me to the next point, which is...
A large part of the reason he holds onto Casca is explicitly about his not wanting to let go of Griffith. This already lays out pretty clearly that Griffith is ultimately his priority. Not to say he doesn't care about Casca, but what I'm saying is that if his investment in her and holding onto his anger about her and the Hawks is largely about not wanting to let go of Griffith, then obviously if he had Griffith that reduces his motivation to hold onto those things. Also...
He came very close to repeating the assault on her himself (and worsening since he apparently was driven to follow it up by biting her head off) specifically so that he would feel closer to/more deeply connected to Griffith. Literally repeated since both physically and mentally he was copying Femto's specific actions. Did he hate it about himself and take steps to prevent it from recurring? Absolutely, but it doesn't change that this is something about him that exists to be hated and controlled to begin with.
A lot of this just comes down to the way Guts reaches his point of outrage - it's all about how he feels about the person doing the thing and the person having the thing done to them. Guts has a hierarchy of value associated with people in his head - he'll let hundreds die to save someone he likes, and then let that person die to save someone he likes more than them. Does anyone doubt that he'd throw most of his current companions under the bus if it meant say bringing the Hawks back or saving Casca's life? Hierarchy of value. And at the top of the value pack is, and has always been, Griffith. Finally...
You can see how much his level of investment in people colors his reactions to what they do just by looking at the way he reacts to Gambino. This man abused him for years, sold him out to be raped and then tried to kill him and Guts still was never able to hate him, or stop loving him, or forgive himself for accidentally killing him. I submit that the only person he has ever valued as much as or more than Gambino... is Griffith.
That third one is huge to me, though. Because Guts isn't someone who casually goes around sexually assaulting people - even when he gets out of hand with Casca, he pulls back as soon as she reacts negatively. Yet there he was. And I'm not saying people can't be mad at other people for doing things they did, my point is the entire reason for the assault was to feel closer to/more tied to Griffith. In other words, he was willing to destroy her in order to be closer to him. That being the case, I can't fathom that he wouldn't be willing to get closer to Griffith without destroying her if given the opportunity to do so.

Fatal frame researching part 1
Fatal Frame, titled Zero in Japan and Project Zero in Europe and Australia, is a Japanese survival horror video game series created, published and developed by Koei Tecmo (originally Tecmo). Debuting in 2001 with the first entry in the series for the PlayStation 2, the series consists of five main entries. The series is set in 1980s Japan, with each entry focusing on a location beset by hostile supernatural events. In each scenario, the characters involved in the present investigation use Camera Obscura, objects created by Dr. Kunihiko Asou that can capture and pacify spirits. The series draws on staple elements of Japanese horror, and is noted for its frequent use of female protagonists.
Common elements
Series gameplay
The gameplay has remained consistent through the series' lifetime. Each environment is filled with ghosts, with separate games having different attack behaviors for them. While navigating these environments, the main character's only means of defense is the Camera Obscura, which can be used to damage ghosts, capturing them on film and pacifying them.
When using the camera, the view switches from a third-person to a first-person perspective. The camera locks onto a ghost, with the amount of damage dealt depending on how much of a focus the Camera Obscura has on the ghost, but ghosts fade in and out of existence, making focusing more challenging. Shots of varying closeness and angles also affect how much damage the ghost takes. The most damaging is a "fatal frame", which hits a ghost weak spot. A ghost's captured spirit energy is converted into points, which can be used to buy items to upgrade the Camera Obscura and obtain more powerful film.
In addition to hostile ghosts, there are passive ghosts encountered in parts of the environment: if they are not caught on film at once, they vanish from the rest of the game. Ghosts captured on film are added to a list, which reveals a ghost's past. For Mask of the Lunar Eclipse and later entries, the camera perspective was altered to a third-person over-the-shoulder view and character movement was increased a little to speed up gameplay.
Setting
The Fatal Frame / Project Zero series is set in the 1980s, before mobile phones were commonly used in Japan. Aside from a few recurring characters, each game has a self-contained story focusing on a different supernatural threat. The main unifying factor is navigating through haunted locations struck by a supernatural catastrophe, with a recurring setting being abandoned Japanese mansions. Recurring characters include Dr. Kunihiko Asou, an occultist who lived in the 1800s and created objects such as the Camera Obscura; and Miku Hinasaki, the protagonist of Fatal Frame and one of three protagonists in The Tormented, who also appears in Maiden of Black Water as one of the main characters' missing mother. A second recurring feature is the exclusive or frequent use of female characters in the leading role.
The first chronological entry in the series, Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, takes place in 1980. The story revolves around three girls who travel back to the fictional Rougetsu Island to recover memories of being kidnapped while they lived there ten years before. On the island, they must investigate the secrets behind a local ritual dance and an ancient mask related to the ritual.
Fatal Frame is set in 1986, with Crimson Butterfly being set in 1988 The Tormented is set two months after the second game's events. Maiden of Black Water is set at an unspecified date after the third game. It takes place around the fictional Mount Hikami, a site infamous for suicides and rituals associated with local bodies of water. The main protagonists are each drawn to the mountain intent on rescuing someone, confronting hostile ghosts along the way.
History and development
The concept for Fatal Frame / Project Zero first occurred by Makoto Shibata. The idea occurred after the development of Tecmo's Deception: Invitation to Darkness. Inspired by his own experiences of supernatural events, and heartened by the success of the Silent Hill series, Shibata and Keisuke Kikuchi set to work on creating the basics for the game. Shibata was in charge of the majority of game and scenario development, while Kikuchi was in charge of general oversight.
The Camera Obscura was not in the initial discussions between Shibata and Kikuchi, with the original idea being that ghosts would be avoided and repelled by light. Ultimately, they decided to have a type of offensive power, which resulted in the Camera's creation.
For Crimson Butterfly, the team toned down the frightening aspects so players would be willing to complete a playthrough, alongside creating a stronger story. The story was inspired by a dream Shibata had, with the interpretive nature of the game's events being inspired by his feelings about the dream. For The Tormented, they decided to focus on horror elements emerging out of everyday life, focusing on the effects of dreams upon reality. Mask of the Lunar Eclipse was co-produced by Koei Tecmo, Nintendo and Grasshopper Manufacture, with Grasshopper Manufacture's Goichi Suda acting as a co-director with Shibata.
As they wanted to bring more people into the series, they included a stronger narrative and new gameplay elements to make the experience easier for newcomers.
Since Crimson Butterfly, theme songs have been created for each title, primarily performed by Japanese singer Tsuki Amano. The development team wanted an image song for Crimson Butterfly, and Shibata found the then-newly debuted Amano in the Japanese independent community. Amano created the song using documents on the game's story, themes and setting.
I chooses Fatal frame and their series of the games for my own inspiration is for the style of the characters and the ideas of having the camera as a weapon and the music to make the game more unsettling and feels like you are being watched at.

World of Remnant: Grimm Eclipse
A long time ago, I made a post on Grimm Classification within the JNRZ Universe, which you can read here using this link ( here ). In this post, there is a certain detail I would like to expand upon, a certain recurring event known as “Grimm Eclipses”.
No one knows where Grimm originally came from. Their malice has plagued humanity as long as the first texts of history were written, so it is no wonder there are so many legends and records surrounding these creatures of the dark.
Amongst these stories there is a recurring phenomenon, horrible that rivals the worst natural disasters of history. Disasters so great, it has wiped out dozens of forgotten civilizations and countless lives, an event they call, Grimm Eclipses.
Grimm Eclipses are occurrences of mass Grimm migrations that occur at the awakening of Nephilim Class (Colossal Type) Grimm. To quote the original Grimm Classification post, “Nephilim Class Grimm will find a secluded spot far from civilization and go into a hibernation state that lasts for years, sometimes decades, possibly even centuries. - Eventually, Nephilim wake up from their slumber and will leave their nesting grounds, and lead gigantic hordes of Grimm towards nearby Settlements.”
The leading theory on the reasoning behind these Awakenings” is that these Nephilim Class Grimm sense large concentrations of negative emotions in densely populated areas, mostly towns, cities, or battlefields. This is backed by evidence of increased Grimm Eclipse occurrences during times of war. Ever since the ending of the Great War and the founding of the Huntsmen Academies, the number of Grimm Eclipses have dropped from as high to 3-4 events a year to as low as a single event every 2-5 years.
No one Grimm Eclipse has ever been the same, each being led by a unique variant of Nephilim Grimm, leading to their naming rule. While hurricanes are named after people, Grimm Eclipses are named after their Nephilim. To use some RWBY canon examples, the Fall of Beacon was led by the Wyvern, therefore it would be named “Eclipse Wyvern”. The attack on Argus in Volume 6 would be known as “Eclipse Leviathan”. And the Fall of Atlas in season 8 would be known as “Eclipse Monstra”.
Whenever a Grimm Eclipses begins, the Nephilim will wake from its slumber and begin it’s migration towards the nearest settlement. The length of these migrations can range anywhere from hours to weeks depending on the distance. Along the way, every Grimm near the Nephilim will join in it’s migration, creating an absolutely massive horde of monsters for the upcoming destruction.
Grimm of every classification have a role within Grimm Eclipses to an unsettlingly organized degree, almost that of an organized military force. Mavet Class (Predatory Types) make up the bulk of the Grimm forces, acting as the main infantry and fodder, while Shedim Class (Dweller Types) make up the rearguard and support elements. Within settlement walls, Mazzikin Class (Vermin Type) act as scouts and saboteurs while Dybbuk Class (Sadistic Types) act as assassins or vanguard. At the center of it all will be the Nephilim acting as the central command, leading the swarm in its crusade of death and destruction.

What went wrong?
So... the whole education department is leaving my museum. Well, okay, not the whole education department. The manager and the two part time workers are staying. But the three of us who were the actual museum educators, who did most of the legwork and actual educating? we're out after the eclipse.
I consider the other two educators my friends. We have quite a bit in common. We're all the same awkward not-quite-millennial, not-quite-gen-Z age. We went through college at about the same time. We're all the kind of people who will teach somebody something if you leave us along in a room with them long enough, but have no desire to be classroom teachers. Our skills aren't quite identical, but we can all cover for each other in a pinch. We're all single and likely to stay that way for the immediate future, have religions but don't really publicize it, don't drink (two of us never bothered, one of us can't), are adhd, and share similar tastes in literature. They couldn't have found a more evenly matched team if they tried. Which is, it turns out, to their detriment.
see... it means that we all generally agree with and empathize with each other. If they wrong one of us, they wrong all of us.
So... a rough list of grievances, in approximately chronological order.
They threw one of the educators out of the loop and effectively banned her from working in the planetarium. The planetarium she built up from ground zero. That one.
They told the other two of us to make a push-button show in two months. It takes experienced teams with no other responsibilities six months. Then, they yelled at us about how much time we were spending working on the show in the planetarium, even though we were going a bit mad, even though we were effectively casting from hit points to keep going, even though we were making incredible progress and could tell EXACTLY where the time had gone; we were hardly goofing off. Even though it was not, in fact, detracting from our other responsibilities. All three of us ended up breaking down inside the planetarium.
They drove us to varying degrees of anxiety/meltdown at their holiday event and didn't need to. Nor did they apologize or even acknowledge what happened. I'm sorry, I don't forget when multiple coworkers have to talk me through an autistic meltdown while they themselves are coping with their own sensory hellscapes.
No educators qualified for a raise this year, ostensibly for assorted minor reasons but probably because they were trying to gaslight us into blaming ourselves rather than fessing up that they couldn't afford it. Had they been honest, I think we would have been understanding. But. Yeah. They lied. Not cool.
I was written up for showing too much emotion at my manager when something went wrong that wasn't my fault, on my recently deceased grandfather's birthday. And told I would be fired if it happened again.
They assigned a stupid and pointless recurring task to the worst possible team member they could have assigned it to. I offered to take it over, since I didn't mind it and (as previously stated) all of our skills overlap to the point where it didn't make a difference. Then they refused to listen, for months, when we pointed out that giving them what they wanted was actually impossible with our current staff -- we can't teleport.
They totally ignored almost all of our suggestions to improve the planetarium and, in fact, told the other two of us to not work on it so much too. Some of the suggestions they used to deliberately insult us and the hard work we'd put in about something we were truly passionate about.
Policy decisions are routinely made by our manager without consulting us concerning things like the planetarium, which she never enters and cannot even turn on. Let alone make it work.
They care more about how effectively we've swept and vacuumed and put away gross toddler-spit-covered blocks that aren't even our department's property than how well we do things that are much more obviously in our job description. The blocks have been disappeared by one aggrieved part time worker. We will never tell. When we leave, they can pin the blame on us. It's fine.
They seem to have it in for the one male coworker. Not sure why. Could be misandry, antisemitism, or maybe they just don't like that he's speaking his mind. Or maybe they don't like that he's a northerner. Impossible to say.
They sent the most personable manager, who isn't even our manager, to try to boost our morale.... her tips were received as "don't think about it too hard", "accept you'll be written up, a lot", and "your anger at your current treatment is overrated".
They fired the education coordinator two months after she started. Was she good at her job? Not really. Did I like her as a person? Not especially. Was she properly trained in her job? NO. Should she have been fired? Probably not.
I genuinely don't think they realize how much we do empathize with each other. I genuinely don't think they realize that we relate much more to each other than we do to management; the differences in stage of life or maybe generation (managers are much more firmly millennials, we relate more to the Gen Z part time employees) is quite sharp.
And clearly, they don't value that they have three employees who all possess fairly rare and valuable skillsets. We can wrangle our planetarium. We can plan low budget educational activities that capture public interest on a dime. We can run summer camps for kids ages 7-13 with very little prep work. We can lecture on things we barely understand and convince people we're experts because we all have that broad kind of knowledge acquired by ADHD people with internet connections. And we're all very comfortable public speakers. We can analyze a situation and come up with ways to creatively improve it.
Other museums -- other institutions, we're not all going to museums next -- can see what we are. They're bending over backwards to get us to join them.
So. We're out. And we're looking forward to some very.... interesting.... exit interviews.
Assuming they get around to doing those, since our last day is April 8 and a little bird told me there's going to be some kind of major celestial event that day that the museum might be a little bit busy wrangling. IDK.

granted i haven’t played many mmos in my lifetime but the way entire gw2 maps can be set up as a stage for a recurring large scale narrative event that can completely alter the landscape and then reset on completion makes for an overworld experience i haven’t really seen anywhere else in a massively multiplayer sense. some encounters feel so much more visceral because the ‘arena’ they are confined to is this un-bordered section of natural landscape where the huge dragon champion you are fighting reacts specifically to the world around it and vice versa - can scale up the mountains around you scattering snow, arc over your head eclipsing the sky, land so hard it off-balances and shakes the world and sends a shockwave of water into your face, knocking you under. and all the while 50 other people are charging it with you, running between its feet like ants. sorry my only recourse is to post a link to a youtube short, but look at the ways they can shift the world before your very eyes

hey!! hope you're having a good day so far ❤️
i'm looking for a drarry fic i read on ao3 a few years back. it was at least 20 chapters, maybe even around 50, and each chapter was also pretty lengthy. it was definitely slow burn. just the two of them were stuck in a forest (i can't remember why) and the majority of the fic was them wandering through the forest. there's a lot of sexual tension, and recurring bondage jokes.
here's a few lines i remember:
draco: "i didn't peg you for a screamer" harry: "you haven't pegged me yet"
draco: "beautiful my arse"
the fic takes place after the war and i'm pretty sure it follows canon events pretty closely as far as draco and harry's relationship during hogwarts time (like harry did use sectumsempra, and all of the deaths from the war did actually happen). pretty sure harry has become an auror. both of them are single, draco knows he's gay, and harry (i think) know's he's bi.
hope you can help! and thank you ❤️
Hey anon, could you be mixing up details from Eclipse by Mijan (287k, T)? Let us know!
Or maybe one of our followers can help?

6, 12, 22, 23 :P
6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?
Not really.
…Yep, that was a quick one.
12. Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn't? Why?
If we're talking characters specifically, then I support Sonic and Tails having a disagreement that furthers the plot, as attempted in Lost World. Obviously it wasn't handled as well as it could have been there, but the idea on its own is reasonable to me, particularly if both sides have a point rather than it being purely in Sonic's favor just because he's Sonic, and as long as it's not wildly exaggerated to the point of a House of Cards-style affair where they're both acting like dickheads.
If we're talking story concepts in general, then I really like the idea of Solaris, since whether it was intentional or no, it sets itself up well as a unique parallel to Chaos in more ways than one. Unfortunately, they had to separate it into two less interesting halves with shittier designs, and gave them the lion's share of plot focus.
22. Popular character you hate?
*rolls out the list*
Let's see… Scourge, Surge, Kit, Mephiles, Mimic, Clutch, Rough and Tumble, Belle, Chip, Eggman Nega, Eclipse, most of the Archie cast in general, post-Flynning Starline… is it too early to add Eggette Sage?
For the longest time, I used to heavily dislike Sonic himself, because for all the praise he received for being the most awesome guy ever until Big Bad Pontaff came along and allegedly ruined him, he ALWAYS came off to me as obnoxious a lot more times than intended. While I've warmed up to him since then, in part due to portrayals like IDW, SatAM and Fleetway making me appreciate how better off Game Sonic is by comparison, and in part due to figuratively spending so much time in his head via the fanfic writing process, I'll admit that he still annoys me on occasion, like in Frontiers.
I also used to not care all that much for Shadow, since the dark rival archetype normally fails to interest me, combined with the preferential treatment he received in the mid-00s. Nowadays, while he's still not one of my favourites per say, I like him a lot more after taking note of how he manages to avoid most of the cliches that I associate with said archetype. (For just one example, Shadow is mostly reserved and polite, whereas other such characters tend to be overly hot-blooded and full of unwarranted bluster.) And the memes involving him are always fun too.
Then there's Silver. Hate is too strong a word in this case, but out of all the main recurring cast members, he's the one I'm the most utterly apathetic to, whether it's his Shadow Lite portrayal in most of the games, or his Steven Universe-itis portrayal everywhere else. His gimmick of saving the future from Cataclysmic Event #47 has also gotten old, and we all know how I feel about Blaze being reduced to his sidekick for most of her post-Rush screentime. If they stopped using Silver for whatever reason, I'd feel bad for his fans, but I wouldn't exactly be shedding tears personally.
And finally, while I normally try my best to not have my opinion on a character be influenced too much by fandom perception of them alone, since I realise it's not entirely fair… I must admit that I have grown completely sick of the Freedom Fighters after all the overblown fandom wanking they've received since Archie got bumped. Over the last couple of years, it's proven impossible to go a month without something like #Rally4Sally rearing its head, or another attempt by Flynn to directly or indirectly shoehorn them into everything he touches ("REMARKABLE RESEMBLANCE TO DULCY"). By the time it became clear just how much of IDW was already recycled from Archie, my patience reached its absolute limit.
The Freedom Fighters themselves may not be the worst characters ever (well, most of them), but I will never understand what makes them so special. And half of them were redundant from the very beginning anyway.
23. Unpopular character you love?
Eggman when he's in-character.
Rouge when she's in-character.
Amy when she's… alright, you get the joke, I'll come up with a serious answer.
Do the Hard-Boiled Heavies count? Sure, they got a lot of praise and fanart when Mania was new, but it feels like they've been left in the dust since then, and outside of that one IDW comic that I'd like to forget, they've barely been used for anything… Well, I always appreciate a quirky miniboss squad when the personalities involved are properly endearing instead of annoying, so I'll always love these guys, and despite all of them being roly-poly Egg Robos, their animations in Mania managed to convey a lot of character, without dialogue, that some characters in this franchise have struggled to match with dialogue.
Another one is Marine. It's mostly calmed down now, but back when Rush Adventure came out, everyone seemed to have a rabid hateboner for her, to the point where it felt like her only purpose in Archie was to be treated like shit. And for what? For overestimating her capabilities? She's still young, and she clearly developed some maturity and genuine skills towards the end anyway. Because she supposedly didn't do anything? That's not even true, but whatever. Because of her stereotypical Australian lingo? As someone who grew up listening to Dingodile and the entire cast of TY the Tasmanian Tiger, this had absolutely no effect on me. I already developed an immunity. All I thought when I read her dialogue was "Ha ha, just like one of my favourite Crash characters. B)"
How about Erazor Djinn? He's another one that's less hated and more just ignored period. Even among fans who love Secret Rings, only some of them like @greenyvertekins bother to actually acknowledge him. As someone who is not exactly a Secret Rings connoisseur, I nonetheless declare that Erazor is without question one of the best non-Eggman villains we've ever had… the hairdo's a bit goofy though, but genies do tend to have them like that, so touche.
Black Doom is the Best Bad Villain. Whereas other villains like him have made me nothing but grumpy, Doom's combination of Dr. Claw voice, Chinese bootleg Wizeman design, cartoonish levels of in-game contradictions (how the fuck can I progress if I DON'T kill your troops?), and even some genuinely intriguing quirks here and there (like not knowing what lightning is), has made it simply impossible for me to hate him. It helps that he never gained a disproportionate fandom like Mephiles did, as unlike Mephiles, Doom tends to be rightly acknowledged as the unintentional comedy goldmine that he is.

Girls’ Frontline: Longitudinal Strain
This had the potential to be a fantastic event but it’s hampered by a mix of recurring sins and bizarre technical issues.
GFL has always been janky and buggy, but the 3.0 UI overhaul pressed most of that out of the menus and shit, at least. The more elaborate event UIs behaved themselves and the game’s performance broadly improved, even if some things in maps could still be touch-and-go. That’s out the window here; Longtudinal Strain’s fancy train-themed UI shown above lags like shit and is trailing at sub-30 frames on an iPad Pro. More bafflingly, the visual novel segments are also chugging even as the maps and battles are fine!
The actual event story is mostly pretty good with rad concepts, although it is basically entirely disconnected from the previous event and is relying on being setup for the next one. A black market being run out of a virtual space carried around inside the head of the marketeer robot who runs it, to which other robots connect to do their business unnoticed in public on a cross-continental train is some real clever shit, there’s fun stuff here. There’s shit involving a Russian gang and outside of its fucking hilarious leader, everything involving them after their initial reveal isn’t too enthralling, but everyone else largely makes up for it.
But most of the maps fucking suck, as has tragically become a pattern for GFL; there’s still the tedious stealth/evasion maps, four separate maps involve kiting/evading an arbitrarily invincible boss unit, and only maybe half at absolute best use your own squads in a game about building squads (which is tragically a better batting average than other recent events).
And finally, the single biggest issue of recent story events still shows its fucking face here. The writer or writers seem to break down, shit themselves and cry if the main antagonist faction Paradeus has to hold even the most minor and temporary of Ls for more than a single scene: the climactic event of the story is the new Paradeus agent getting domed and defeated at the cost of the lives of three other characters, and another loses her memory of it all…only for a post-credit scene to have a clone of the agent go "JUST AS KEIKAKU WE MOVE". They continue to be infalliable and invincible and literally incapable of losing in any way that matters.
Again I teeter on the brink of just packing it in, or just mashing skip throughout the next event if it’s again Commander vs Paradeus. This and previous event Eclipse & Saros are, tragically, quite elevated by just relegating the main fucking cast to cameo/bit player roles and ignoring the main plot to do their own shit. Which should tell you about where GFL1 is, at this critical time where GFL2 seems like it’ll release in China later this year at long last.

(NEXSTAR) — Stargazers and skywatchers have been treated to a stunning show of celestial events already in 2024: the total solar eclipse, the return of the ‘devil comet,’ and multiple nights colored by the northern lights have undoubtedly topped the list for some.
But if that wasn’t enough for you, space experts say we’re due for another stellar sighting: a rare nova explosion that’ll bring a “new star” to the night sky.
Earlier this year, NASA reported a star system, some 3,000 light years away, is expected to erupt.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime event that will create a lot of new astronomers out there, giving young people a cosmic event they can observe for themselves, ask their own questions, and collect their own data,” Dr. Rebekah Hounsell, an assistant research scientist specializing in nova events at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, said in a statement. “It’ll fuel the next generation of scientists.”
Here’s what you need to know.
The ‘rare nova explosion’ of T CrB
Roughly every 79 years, there is an explosive event in the Northern Crown, a binary system roughly 3,000 light-years away from Earth. Nestled within the star system is the nova, T Coronae Borealis, otherwise known as the Blaze Star or T CrB.
T CrB is one of 10 recurring novae scientists have found in the galaxy, Bill Cooke, NASA’s Meteoroid Environments Office Lead at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, previously told Nexstar.
These novae, the plural of nova, consist “of a normal or red giant star and a white dwarf about the size of the Earth,” Cooke explained. “The larger star is dumping material onto the surface of its white dwarf companion; as material accumulates, the temperature keeps rising until a thermonuclear runaway is initiated.”
That will then cause T CrB to erupt, or “go nova.”
